honestly I can see why the geth's return is highly hinted at first in the poster and then the teaser we got for N7 day where we learned that liara has some communication with the geth. That the geth will be attached to connecting both the andromeda and milky way galaxy during the first teaser we saw two galaxies
I agree, I think the dark matter/energy plots in the Trilogy & Andromeda will somehow play a role in the next game... My theory is the combination of the Relay energy explosion in ME3 & the effects of the Scourge will somehow cause a breakdown or reaction of dark energy/matter in both galaxies. The outcome resulting in the increased acceleration & (inevitable) collision of both the Milky Way & Andromeda... It's an interesting way to combine elements & plot threads introduced from both galaxies. (I've had this idea for years. If I can stop being so lazy; I plan on doing a video on it sometime this year... hopefully😅).
The Jardann were the most interesting thing about MEA. They created the Angara and the remnant. They had those machines to terraform planets. These aren’t your typical apex race. They’re something very different and I truly believe they will be playing a bigger role in the future mass effect games. I firmly believe they can travel between galaxies.
I hope so. Was so sad we didn't get more on them and what happened with the war the jardann had. Who were they fighting? What were the plans for the Angara? I liked MEA and still play it.
@@jordanleveritt7028 dude, after millions of years the reapers never met a shepherd before, so they tried to kill him, then abduct him through the collectors, and finally plea for mercy through control and synthesis bullshit. But canon shepherd remained true, and blew their asses outta the galaxy. So yeah, I think the dark energy conundrum could be solved if life did not have a 50k cycle cap. The creators of the reapers, the leviathans, admittied to be being the apex race and just wanted to dominate everywhere and not share anything. Greedy little lobsters basically.
The whole Reapers outside the Milky Way thing would make sense if they revive the dark energy plot in some fashion, as they would have had to cull countless galaxies to have any real hope of slowing its effect. If they revive the DE plot WITHOUT Reapers going to other galaxies, then it'd just seem like a massive plot hole, because if the use of DE is accelerating the inevitable end of the universe, how is culling a single galaxy going to have any impact, when you'd certainly have species in countless other galaxies also using DE. It'd be like trying to stop a wild fire by cutting down a single tree.
We already saw hints of new species appearing in ME3, so I think the concepts of discovering new races by building or uncovering relays is a plausible one. I think it was a citadel news broadcast, they spoke of a species that had recently been met but had retreated back into their own system and destroyed all of their artificial satellites in hopes that the reapers would ignore them.
Yes. This species is Raloi. The first mention of them was in the Cerberus Daily News text for ME2. There was also a mention of the Kiriks primitive race. And about a Virtual Alien race.
Okay, hear me out, but there’s a way you could technically incorporate “Time Travel” without it actually being “time travel”. Basically: In physics, you cant travel faster than FTL, it’s physically impossible, and speculating if it could be achievable, we end with with things like time dilation and time travel, though purely speculative. In Mass Effect, the Mass Relays and Eezo cores create mass effect fields that change the physics of space in a particular way, allowing a vessel to go much faster than FTL, it effectively bends space-time, cancelling out real physics time dilation. >The Andromeda Initiative Arks are supposed to be able to achieve about 4000x the speed of light. >The Reapers are believed to be able to travel almost 10,000x the speed of light. Since the Mass Effect field logic cancels out any big time dilation issues when hopping around space, it brings up some interesting scenarios - (I will also refer to Mass Effect generated FTL as a Corridor, for simplicity) It’s entirely possible that, should they wish to connect between soon after ME3 and MEA, then it wouldn’t be a stretch to have the relay tech be used to create a stable corridor between the Milky Way and Andromeda, much in the same way the relays create stable corridors for vessels as they are propelled around the galaxy. If we assume they have used their post-war reaper tech research to, not only build new relays, but also develop a larger form of intergalactic relay, (a bit like the Geth real-time telescope) then there are a few ways this could play out: 1. The Intergalactic Corridor travels between Milky Way (soon after 2186) and Andromeda (soon after 2819). The corridor travel to Andromeda is in real time, but relative to the Story happening in MEA, so for example you could be travelling from the Milky Way in 2197 and and up in andromeda in 2830, and if you went back from andromeda in 2830 you’d arrive in the Milky Way in 2197. - Basically, it’s *technically* time travel, but only in the sense the laws of physics denote the logic of a *type* of time dilation, acting as forward and back along the corridors direction. If you tried to travel without this special Relay Corridor then you’d have to make the same journey the Arks did for over 600 years in either direction, and only forward in time no matter the direction. 2. The Intergalactic Corridor/Relay is similar to No.1, however this time it works more like Relay/FTL travel does currently - For example, say You leave in 2197 (several years after ME3) and arrive in andromeda a week later (still in 2197) and the same on the way back. This effectively puts the player in a sequel to ME3 but a Prequel to the events of MEA, as the relay would allow people to arrive in andromeda 600 years before the Initiative gets there. As mentioned in the video, it could allow linking the Scourge to the Dark matter theory, by way of seeing its events happen in real-time. 3. The Intergalactic Corridor/Relay works exactly the same as No.2, However, the events take place about 600 years after ME3 in the Milky Way, and connect to the present day in andromeda, with the corridor allowing real-time travel, but 600 years in the future of the Milky Way to match the present day of Andromeda. Number 2 & 3 would seem to eliminate the likelihood of Shepard, unless you factor in Cryogenics or cloning etc. > If I was being extremely optimistic, then number 1 would be good. You create new (if slightly complex) means of connecting the 2 post game times together, and can chuck Shepard in there for maximum effort. >If I’m being realistic, I think number 3 is most likely. It would account for Liara being older, also the snow covered corpses of reapers, as if buried for decades, and would also give the galaxy the time to develop and create new relays, and this special intergalactic relay that I’m hypothesising.
I grow more and more dissonant for any MEA sequel. I just really dislike that Bioware isn't going to finish the story in any way. I just hope that the next game isn't going to be a trap of nostalgia.
Thanks again for another awesome Mass Effect video. I believe that we are getting another game in large part because creators like you have been keeping the fandom energized! Gratitude!
2:40 yeah, we... already knew they could be moved. Empirically, as the Relay to Ilos was moved by an explosion, so they're not locked in place. And practically, because at the end of ME3, the Citadel (a relay itself) was moved to Earth.
This video only makes me more excited for ME5. Bioware is setting us up for a fantastic story and adventure! Everything you mentioned interests me, and more. For example, how do the Leviathans fit into the puzzle? ME5 may be, 'This is what our current situation is'. ME 6, 'This is how we move forward'. ME7, 'This is how we resolve things'.
A few points I’d like to touch on. The geth had isolated themselves in one portion of the Galaxy and wanted to observe other species. Building the telescope would eliminate light lag when scanning other systems in the Milky Way without having to risk sending scouting vessels. This along with access to reaper tech to boost themselves to full ai status may have allowed them to consider expanding away from the Milky Way as a form of self preservation. Next: When looking at the timeline we may have to consider just how much recovery time the Galaxy may need post reaper war. They did a lot of damage to civilization and population in that time. On top of that. If they canonize the destroy ending technology would be crippled at best. Galaxy wide infrastructure would have to be rebuilt before we can begin to get back on our feet. Finally for now: How long would it take us to understand reaper tech and the mass relays enough to build one of our own.
The relay seems to be allotted bigger than most seen in game. It's possible its much larger to cover the distance of 2 million light years between our galaxy and Andromeda. I have a theory that the Angara are the ones that released the Scourge. The Jaardan created the Angara and maybe they rebelled against them, but the ensuing chaos devastated both the Jaardan that retreated to an area unknown to the Angara. The Angara either unintentionally lost this moment in their history or intentionally did as most of their history is told across generations orally as Jaal tells Ryder. They then had their civilization stagnate and decline to the point the Kett arrive. The Kett are essentially the universe equivalent of the Kobali from Star Trek Voyager. The difference being the Kett forcefully convert and the Kobali convert the dead. Both treat it as a religon and a part of their cultures.
Now that I think about it, bringing in an astrophysics expert would be a smart move. Some major films benefited greatly from adding a little hard science to their story. (Interstellar, the Venture Star in Avatar, etc.)
I love speculating on where the plot will take us to bridge together both galaxies. It is the one thing I am most curious about and most excited for. The dark energy plot being woven back into the storyline as a major piece of drama and mystery is something that I'd really love to see, actually. I always thought that direction was far more interesting. If they can sprinkle that in along with more about who the Jardaan are, and connect the issues with the Scourge to the dark matter plot (or something similar to it, like the spreading of the scourge and the reasons for how it comes to be), then I think it'd be a very, very interesting way to tie things together between the galaxies. And the problems both galaxies may be facing. I do love the idea of inactive relays being activated and us exploring entirely new zones of the galaxy we never had access to before, and new frontiers and aliens that the Milky Way never knew of before. At the same time, one snag is that at the end of ME3, all the relays supposedly blow up. I always imagined that even the inactive ones would as well, as they're all connected on a network of their own. But still, if they can explain it away as forgotten/inactive/destroyed relays that a local race fixes up and activates and now we can access those parts of the galaxy, then I'm all for it! And the geth? No matter what outcomes we choose in ME3, I can see them being found and reactivated. Like we've seen what look to be geth buried in the ground, etc. I can easily see us just finding deactivated geth and fixing them up and, boom, we have geth again in the galaxy. But as for time travel? Yeah, I'm with you there, I really don't want to see that or think it's something to bring into the ME universe.
«I do love the idea of inactive relays being activated and us exploring entirely new zones of the galaxy we never had access to before, and new frontiers and aliens that the Milky Way never knew of before.» Codex ME1 states that modern known races have only explored 1% of 100% of the Milky Way. That is, 99% of the Milky Way has not been explored! And there could be hundreds of new races there
Im not sure if i missed it, but remember the Heleus Cluster in andromeda is orbiting a massive black hole, thats a massive thing they could use to connect the two galaxies in a rather easy way
been having similar lines of thought ever since they announced the next mass effect and I replayed andromeda and paid extra attention to all the possible connections especially in regards to the dark energy plot/the scourge + the geth with the teaser! glad I'm not the only one who wants a connection between the galaxies and thinks its a real possibility 🙏
I think it is wrong to think it happens right after Mass Effect 3. Because Liara is significantly older. So I think there is a time jump. Just my impression.
I explored this in another video because Liara does look older, BUT her wrinkles also match the wrinkles that Liara has in the citadel DLC almost exactly. So honestly it could be either.
@@kalaelizabeth After the ride in the car in the citadel DLC, she probably aged a couple of hundred years. 😂 Sorry, I meant the pursuit of the Shadowbroker's agent. I forgot her name.
The issue with Dark Energy is, it makes absolutely no sense. Stars turn into red giants, because their core is transmuted into heavier elements. In order to do that the star basically collapses until the next element can start fusion. This is caused by gravity, an attracting and locally very strong force. Dark Energy is a repelling force. It's the cause for the expansion of the universe. And it's not just a repelling force, but it's a locally very weak force, as otherwise we could experience it here on Earth. So it would ahve been hard to explain how Dark Energy causes the effects seen on Dholen.
I like the setting being in the future. Moving beyond the trilogy is the best thing possible. Frees up the devs to be original. Directly following up the trilogy puts the whole endeavor on rails. Let Shepard rest. Tell a new story.
When considering the Destroy ending (assuming it's the canon ending), it left a lot of obstacles for a story going forward. It has to be explained how any synthetic life even survived. Unless, the Reaper tech installed into the Geth somehow gave them foreknowledge of the possibility of a "destroy" option, and they planned accordingly. And I think that the Andromeda Initiative may play a roll, but not the events of the game itself. There were a lot of things going on in the background before the actual launch of the Andromeda arks, all in the trilogy timeline.
@@KEWords. Counterargument: Not all choices can be canon because they directly contradict others. For instance, you can't have both Control and Destroy because those two endings completely contradict one another. Likewise, both Synthesis and Destroy are also contradictory. Whether you like it or not, only one ending can be chosen else both the staff numbers and budget would balloon to the point that Amazon and Microsoft combined would be blushing.
@@KEWords not really, It would only ignore the final choice Who 90% of players hated anyway. It makes sense BioWare would try to sweep It under the Rug, and Destroy Is both the easiest One to do that with, and the One that makes the most sense story-wise, since that was Always what shep set out to do since Virmire. Wathever they do, i Hope the story and most importanty the characters are as good as they were, as long as that's the case im fine with a FEW Of my choices beeing retconned, even tho Im not super enthusiastic about that happening.
ME 3 brought the Reapers to an end. There is a murder mystery and a mysterious character called "the benefactor" that leave questions in Andromeda. If I wanted to tie the two galaxies together, I would have the Normandy crew discover the link and start following leads. This could take them to Andromeda to save the Initiative from disaster. Details to follow.....and the dark energy plot could be a big part of this. "There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." Lots of ways this could go.
I hope there's no time travel shenanigans. It's lazy writing. I also hope the setting is in the future. It has to be to make sense with what we know. Unless the devs have been extremely crafty throwing us off.
10:30 i think you mispoke when you said Legion was completely absent from ME3, because theres the whole mission on Rannok where you help Legion free his people from reaper control...
6:13 So Alec, Garson, and other original pathfinders could’ve probably seen the Jardaan or atleast their ships at some point while using telescope to map out cluster. Anyone else find it interesting that they are all conveniently dead?
This is one of the best ways BioWare could go about starting things off, from the first time i played Andromeda i was sure that if there will be a next game the Geth and the telescope should be explained and explored. Also with the reapers gone a way to save the world must be found and this is were the dark energy plot comes in. And the telescope can help find a solution to this problem, maybe the devices created by the Jardaan to fix planets cand be used...There's a lot BioWare cand do and i pray they do it right this time around. On a more video/speculation note: this is one of the best videos i seen so far about what and how could the next game start off and progress. Also with the Telescope the geth could heave watched Shepard's final moments and maybe found a way to save him so he can survive and be there even as a side story to let the fans know that he survived and his on a vacation making babies with Liara :)). Since the added seen of the perfect destroy ending shows shepard alive it can't be left just as a trolling cutseen, i feel they must do it justice and heave shepard alive even if its not as a playable character. Until the end of this year i pray we get some actual news and facts a bout the next game confirmed 100%.
«Since the added seen of the perfect destroy ending shows shepard alive» Shepard is alive with no added ending. On RUclips you can find a video without an added ending and he is alive there
@@SeverusHunt even kike this for his to truly be alive they need to show this in the next game, because the ME3 extended cut we could think it was something just to make the fans happy and so to make it true they heave to show it in another game that can only be the next me.
Yes, to everything you said, the telescope! is a great theory plus it can tie into several different things, The time travel they won't need but the black Or dark matter I'm guessing there's something there also, I think they will bring up the war between the ancient's and whomever " Jardan's plus Javic might get his answers too about his own people.
my take on any type of time travel would be that a small faction found a way to travel faster than the initiative and got there centuries before kind of like the outriders plot
Very happy to see geth plot being continued. Dark mass and energy seems good too. I only hope that they won't incorporate ME Andromeda stuff due to how distant in time those events were. Thought of Teendromeda game already opens too many unhealed wounds:)
Kala, Below I outline an idea I had for how writers could join the two galaxies. I am now getting closer to treating it as a theory. The theory is that the journey to Andromedia was much shorter than everyong was told say a few months. It was to keep them from turning back or asking to go home. And the benefactor wanted to make sure there was no chance of the arks ending up returning in the middile of Reaper extermination event. Liam puts a lot of emphasis about "We can't go back." Which after you think about the idea that maybe they can and it is lie makes you listen to the dialog differenty. But what really caught my attention was a "throwaway" news announcement on the Nexus. It said a worker had died and thier name was being withheld UNTIL NEXT OF KIN IN THE MILKYWAY could be notified. WHAT? How would one do when you are 2.5 million light years out of comm range with no bouys to bridge that, AND and unless it was an Asari, all next of kin are 600 years dead. Unless this is hidden clue, that it was not a 600 year oneway trip. That everyone there if they knew the truth could possible got back.
I had a theory about the man built relay been taken to the andromeda galaxy I wondered if you had any thoughts ?? Or maybe if you had any other ideas that could expand on ?? They could of followed behind the Andromeda initiative a few short years after everything that happened ME3.
I hope ME5 continues andromeda story but instead we travel back to milky way in mid game to find out what happened. But right now we can just sit and wait for offical info on ME5 plus time travel is just very very bad idea.
@@fs5866 As i see it that game and story can be classified as a spin of in the series as a tales from mass effect, but Mass Effect 5 is continuation of the main line so hmm and as of now we dont know where the Mass Effect 5 will take place in milky way or andromeda or in both galaxies only time will tell when devs reveal more. Even tho spin of in earlier time line might be inderesting. Aka play as Anderson in the contact wars and see how he became man we met in main series but maybe one day till then this is just a pipe dream.
great video I always liked the geth especially when they made a mass relay telescope & They should`ve kept the dark energy idea from mass effect 2 it was good i can`t wait to see what happens in the next game.
I’m really hoping they delve into the dark energy stuff, it seemed like it was really building up. I’m also hoping they don’t do 600 years later to connect the games. The fans want closure, and hearing what happened and knowing your companions died offscreen hundreds of years ago just isn’t satisfying.
I'm ok with the dark energy plot as long as not making the reapers sympathetic in anyway. Also regarding the Geth mass relay telescope I keep thinking of Gaming sins point on how that's lore breaking which I'm 50\50 on personally but yeah I agree there's a lot of story potential regarding the relays and the fact that geth being interested in searching other galaxies and the mystery of the Jordaan and I also find it weird the Reapers focus their efforts on just the milky way since playing Andromeda
As for the Reapers focus on the Milky Way, that may be explained by the Leviathan DLC. I'll explain, the Leviathans were a dominate species of the Milky Way and sought a solution to the synthetic AI problem in the Milky Way. They wouldn't have had a reason to look outside or cared about the problem in any other Galaxy. Just my take on it.
@@capt_c27 that I understand and does explain why reapers are just focusing on milky way galaxy but it is kinda weird the reapers didn't know about the other galaxies and possible life there but then again they're focused on "fixing" an issue
I have a story idea, not a theory. As I have almost nothing that says this is the plan. When Andromedia is 200 million light years way, if the geth telecopes showed the Helius cluster in "near real time" compared to 200 million years a few hundred years close enough to assume climates etc. The was needed to choose a location to travel to. But what if it turns out the actual trip to Andromedia was 6 months, not 600 year!?! But they knew people would get homesick and the plan to stay keep organics away from the Reaper war would fail if people turned the ships around and returned. The existing Mass Relays let us hop around a 200,000 light year wide galaxy in hours or days. So with the simuular tech, why couldn't it only take 6 months to get to Andromedia. vs 600 years. An AI of Sam's level could create faked sensor logs etc, to simulate 600 years of travel while people slept. But when they get to Helius the scourge has created so much change in a few hundred years that Jien Garson wanted to abort and tell eveyone they can go home, and she is murdred to kep that secret, becaue the benefactor is still planning on keeping these Arks away from the Reaper War. Without the Geth scope in Helius there is really no way one could really spot a 6 month v 600 year difference back home as you are looking at 200,000 years in the past, and you have more pressing problems. So if the benefector and a few key people, maybe even Alec Ryder, knew and lied, now we can go to Andromedia and deal with the sourge + dark energy problem coming to the Milky way.. and maybe even set up a Relay from Amdromedia to MW and back. Mass Effect has always borrowed and paid homage to other science fiction. This is very much like the Stargate SG1 to Stargate Andromeda story. At the start of the new series it was a "one way trip", but things changed and SG1 and SGA interacted. So Bioware could without time travel, just using a relaiable "Those in Power Lied" tie the two together.
The Quarian in the comic said that the three Relays were held together by unknown technology. Quarians are unaware of Reaper technology. Geth-Heretics have Reaper technology. Geth-Heretics don't like organics. By the way, the Geth in the comics tried to kill the organics that arrived on the supertelescope
Bioware could combine elements from both galaxies into a new multi-part series. Whatever they do, I hope they do not rush the writing like they did in three and Andromeda. I hope they make choices matter as well.
The initiative took a dormant mass relay to andromeda on board the nexus that links to the geth telescope to create a real time travel between galaxies 🤔
if everything in the trailer is there for a reason, then i wonder what the hourglass nebula is doing there, could just be that it hints at something you have to do there in the game, OR the operative word is being TIME, hinting at time travel, just my thought on it atleast
yes would love the return of the dark energy concept, or a new force that had the reapers on edge, honestly thought there was much more to the reapers than just, robot and organic fight bad, far more nuance than that, but anyway led me to sort of rewrite the story fan fic but concurrently with canon, with a few altered core points, such as TIM (what his sacrifice entailed), how E.D.I was actually a metaphor for something bigger in the context of the catalyst (with elements of the reaper Queen story concept) and a new faction that was essentially a representative of the synthesis option, this would've been tied into the ambiguous threat and necessary evil of the leviathans to an extent, was also hard to come up with a threat that was more terrifying than the reapers, but there's a few ideas about that, and i agree, no time travel should be used, also the synthesis option would've ben the best option to counter this new threat, but cud be worked around in case other options were chosen, just variations of how to achieve the same goal, but anyways this other faction would be doing there own thing to help the galaxy that impacts the crew of the Normandy and other said characters, so when leviathan analyses Shepard's mind and experiences and they quoted "it is clear why they see you as a threat, your victories are more than a product of chance" we could add some weight behind that statement, as for some new characters best ive come up with is a veteren from the renegade backstory whos the newest upper echelon member of this new faction who has an innate indoctrination resistance code named "Grimm", his autistic partner "Rave" and a vorcha side kick who for all tense and purposes will temporarily be called vorchi😂 ...but that's just something that got me excited for the reemergence of the dark energy plotline
honestly, i think bioware is going to lean HARD into Einstein's law of relativity. the bending of spacetime and how each person perceives it from their location within the universe.
Mass effect 4 I am looking forward to and I hope we see Shepard again. Though it will be interesting to see if they found away to flawless bridge the milky way with Andromeda. Though with as poorly as Andromeda was taken will the actually want to do so? Poster's note: I am calling it ME4 because that is what it is, the continuation of Mass effect original trilogy. Something to remember, when they release each game it has a number next to it, except Andromeda which did not thus is isn't Mass Effect 4 but instead a stand alone title thus it doesn't earn the 4 and calling it 5 is misleading.
So Dragon Age: Origins isn’t the first game, and Inquisition isn’t the third? What kind of logic is this. Dragon Age 2 is still called Dragon Age 2. These are BioWare games.
Here is a theory could they not have the Geth telescope be retrofitted to use all three mass effect relays in sync as sort of a massive mass effect relay to jump a ship to Andromeda? I know you sort of touched on that in the video but i was just thinking if one relay can jump someone halfway across our galaxy then 3 working in tandem might be enough to jump a ship across the universe to another galaxy, now unless they make a similar array on the Andromeda side it would be a one way trip.
Great theories, Kala. If the game is set shortly after ME3 I'd prefer they address Andromeda through remnants of the initiative or shadow broker and focus on the aftermath in the milky way. Political fallouts, power plays and the dark matter story hinted throughout the game. Assuming they're doing another trilogy and not a stand alone game.
That's what I think too! Mac Walters did say that they didn't want to do another trilogy, but this was during Andromeda's production, so things might have changed
I'd like as little Andromeda content as possible. So many aliens species were cut from Andromeda and replaced with robots for budgetary reasons. Andromeda felt so empty and boring compared to the Milky Way. I don't want them retconning all these new races in because they suddenly have the budget. Leave Andromeda alone, the damage was done. Also if Shepard is the main character in this new game, then it's ME4 for me. MEA simply takes place in the same universe, but isn't part of the same story
I just really need to know who the benefactor is and who killed Jion Garson, if I gotta find out in the milky way then so be it. Also I just want to explore this universe more
Remants turning out to be highly evolved Geth who managed to use their telescope to fling themselves across the cosmos and into another galaxy would retroactively make Andromeda far more interesting. Alternatively, maybe we're approaching the constructed relay from the wrong angle. Consider this; what if the relay was actually built along with the vessels created for intergalactic travel and was sent along with them to Andromeda? That still doesn't offer us a clear timeline, but it might at least explain how an Angaran seemingly shows up in the Milky Way.
In Andromeda there is information that the creators(Jardaan) of Remnant arrived in the Helius Cluster several thousand years before the time when the Geth were created
Didn't finish Andromeda yet but don't the kett have ftl ships with out the aid of mass relays. I can see them forcing Milkway A.I. to Integrate with organics to create new versions of Ryder in a mass invasion of the milky way in order to have complete access to Remtech. But like I said I haven't finished the game yet lol. They would also get more Krogan too.
The telescope could allow humans to get to andromeda before the ships in ME:A get there and humans could be the other side of the war that happened in the galaxy
okay so here's a plot hole. ME3 ended in three separate ways. 1 destroy the Reapers, 2 control the Reapers, 3 synthetization. two of those options destroyed all synthetics, but also the mass relays, so while I think it would be awesome for them to incorporate the geth telescope, I'm pretty positive that that will be dead in the water, since if you chose death to synthetics choices then we are dealing with, then geth couldn't be in the game, let alone their telescope cause it's made out of relays, and if the Quarian's were really that stupid to rebuild the geth after having just gotten over technically two wars, one in which was taking back their 3 centuries long lost home worlds from their creation, and the other against the reapers, then they are dumber then I though. (I always choose paragon but the geth were already there and Sheperd had to yell at Quarian and Geth like they were children fighting over a toy they both wanted.) Also, let's assume that some chose to destroy the synthetics, we also don't know how it was built since the war between geth and the universe stopped in the middle of the war with the reapers, the geth are dead so if the telescope is gone and its creators along with it then the plot kind of turns to dust. so, idk how they plan to incorporate any of these game elements, however since they are going to have Liara in the game, I hope we can safely assume its set after the reaper wars. and if that is the case you best bet that I will be very pissed off if they don't have any of my ME decisions in it. Loved your video by the way it's very soothing but definitely got my brain working.
I believe that Cerberus is behind what we know so far. Cerberus colours appear everywhere. Then there's Jien Garson who ran out of money and what I could find was that the "Benefactor" had an endless supply of it, knew Garson pre ME1 and was aware of the reapers. I suspect the benefactor was the illusive man and planted Cerberus sleeper cells on the arcs and Nexus, one of which assassinated Garson to guarantee Cerberus control. What was it that Liara said about humans in that latest transmission???
The developers themselves, before the release of Andromeda, said that Cerberus is not related to the Andromeda Initiative. Although of course now developers can make a retcon
The dark energy plot is very interesting, but i think the scale is too big to make it a workable plot. Maybe reducing the scale to something more local would make it more compelling. Instead, mass effect technology affects local star clusters rather than significantly affecting the universe at large. At this point, harvesting species every 50,000 years makes a lot more sense. Milky way races inherit the technology that predominantly uses mass effect for almost everything. So obviously, every 50,000 years they wipe the galaxy clean and hope they get rid of any traces of mass effect technology along the way in hopes that the galaxy races find a way to contain dark energy somehow or reduce need for it. Or maybe even eliminating its necessity.
Sovereign tells us that the reapers created them as a way to make harvest easier and so the races would evolve as they intended at the rate they intended
I think the united race in our milky way galaxy discovered interstella travel an thats how they went from our galaxy to andromeda an that would explain liara on the snow planet but whats boggling me is whats happened with the kett theres no info on that plus if the reapers are bk then they arent the same reapers we know of because they were defeated, my guess is some resisted or had enough time to leave the galaxy bfr the galaxy blast spread got to them in time an left from our milky way galaxy to conquer alsewhere like our nearest galaxy andromeda
Great video on a really fascinating subject. I've heard the Reapers being compared to several race in Sci-fi, but I comparison I don't hear that often is to the AI in The Matrix. Thoughts?
It's possible that when Liara finds the N7 visor in the snow that she is 600+ years older than she was in the original trilogy, putting her more in-line with Andromeda's story
It's funny, but the more videos of yours I watch, the more I'm starting to think that BioWare had a plan all along when they made Andromeda. Not a plan as in "we know exactly everything we're going to do" kind of way, but they set up too many threads that can link both galaxies together for it to be a coincidence. I think they knew they wanted to go back to the Milky Way with the 5th game, and they knew they needed Liara to do it. Andromeda was always meant to be a one-off, a way to expand the ME universe before the final objective is revealed, which is a Mass Effect franchise that can travel well beyond the Milky Way, and boldly go where Star Trek as gone before: exploring the galaxy and meeting new civilizations! It's my humble theory, anyway.
Maybe the geth created the angara just a thought? If you look at screenshot with the one that looks a geth head look at the blue circle I swear I can see what looks like an angara 😂
@@dragonbornexpress5650 true. did the geth not build there’re telescope with 3 mass relay’s ? So theoretically they could have travelled to Andromeda the best game out off the 4 😉
I really dislike the Dark Matter plot it looks like something to really from the 2020. I mean: cosmic global warming because a few advanced galaxies on a gigantic almost infinite universe use mass effect technology. It's not the type of plot that would age well with time, I think it could be better to hang to the idea of " cosmic horror" from the first game: When sovereign says: I'm beyond your comprehension, I don't imagine space greta.... I imagine cthulu, when everybody gets crazy by using reaper tech I think on the One ring wich was too much to handle, with his own master and his own directives.. etc I think that a story that revolves around the reapers harvesting intelligent life to make a super consciousness and the biggest armada to defend from something worse its a bit better. We have actually in the games (without going to halo flood or 40k tyranids) the Rachni and they have a peculiar way of communicating trough space using quantum entanglement and some noises in the mass effect 1 are unnerving, when you are on some explorable moons and planets (including our moon) on the Mako you can hear a weird noise distantly sounding like a nightmare whale calling wich sounds pretty similar to rachni noises. So, for me I would love some kind of extra galactic organic horror that using quantum entanglement could sense if a galaxy organics are ready to be eaten or not using the dreams or watever space witchery, and basically thanks to that to put geth and reapers as maybe not that horrible and maybe even a solution to a real cosmic horror with teeth and mouths that was on hibernation or travelling till now like a flood making the reapers as a kind of mosses Archs (I'm not Christian but the first game had some hints to Christianity also) Because: That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die. - HP Sovercraft And now go and tell me that space dark matter global warming its better as a plot. Edit: I discovered your channel yesterday and subscribed today because this is fantastic and you are doing a nice job, please keep it, I love ME lore and news.
In the end i don't care ...I want another trilogy with in 5 years of the release of the first of the new game of trilogy...and not have to wait 10/15 years from start it finish..
Hey that's me!
haha yes it is!
No legion is not absent from Mess effect Three
@@chrisriberio2047what is “Mess Effect”?
Seeing MassEffect theory crafting again is just heartwarming and fills me with hope again.
The community needed new blood...and we git
honestly I can see why the geth's return is highly hinted at first in the poster and then the teaser we got for N7 day where we learned that liara has some communication with the geth.
I like this idea
The Jardann were the most interesting thing about MEA. They created the Angara and the remnant. They had those machines to terraform planets. These aren’t your typical apex race. They’re something very different and I truly believe they will be playing a bigger role in the future mass effect games. I firmly believe they can travel between galaxies.
I hope so. Was so sad we didn't get more on them and what happened with the war the jardann had. Who were they fighting? What were the plans for the Angara? I liked MEA and still play it.
Your deep dives are awesome and really thought provoking. I agree that any time travel would not be welcome in the ME franchise.
Thank you Bill I'm glad you like them!
Yes to dark energy returning. No to time travel being used in any way. Far too lazy a plot device, and totally unnecessary.
But dark energy isnt? How the hell humans gonna figure it out, but reapers over millions of years havent? Lol
@@jordanleveritt7028yeah, the dark energy plot is stupid, lol. And boring honestly. They're both lazy.
Basically:
In physics, you cant travel faster than FTL, it’s physically impossible, and speculating if it could be achievable, we end with with things like time dilation and time travel, though purely speculative.
Since the Mass Effect field logic cancels out any big time dilation issues when hopping around space, it brings up some interesting scenarios -
(I will also refer to Mass Effect generated FTL as a Corridor, for simplicity)
It’s entirely possible that, should they wish to connect between soon after ME3 and MEA, then it wouldn’t be a stretch to have the relay tech be used to create a stable corridor between the Milky Way and Andromeda, much in the same way the relays create stable corridors for vessels as they are propelled around the galaxy.
If we assume they have used their post-war reaper tech research to, not only build new relays, but also develop a larger form of intergalactic relay, (a bit like the Geth real-time telescope) then there are a few ways this could play out:
Very interesting video. We also know the geth were looking for a safe place to build a Dyson sphere. Great video concept on the geth telescope..
Gratitude!
Finally, I am so glad you posted this! I been wondering about this plot line. Very cool thank you.
The geth were searching dark space for the reapers…hence the relay.
Also, there is no need for time travel. Liara is young enough to make the journey herself, without cryo sleep.
Next:
When looking at the timeline we may have to consider just how much recovery time the Galaxy may need post reaper war. They did a lot of damage to civilization and population in that time. On top of that. If they canonize the destroy ending technology would be crippled at best. Galaxy wide infrastructure would have to be rebuilt before we can begin to get back on our feet.
Finally for now:
How long would it take us to understand reaper tech and the mass relays enough to build one of our own.
Dark energy sounds good as a solar destabilizing issue. But, a galactic warming crisis sounds incredibly stupid.
Now that I think about it, bringing in an astrophysics expert would be a smart move. Some major films benefited greatly from adding a little hard science to their story. (Interstellar, the Venture Star in Avatar, etc.)
@@toddzircher6168the dark energy plot is straight up boring. There's no depth to it all.
@@jaybird0312, well, there is the mystery of who or what is behind, the why, and how to stop it. So, a plot could be built from that.
«I do love the idea of inactive relays being activated and us exploring entirely new zones of the galaxy we never had access to before, and new frontiers and aliens that the Milky Way never knew of before.»
Codex ME1 states that modern known races have only explored 1% of 100% of the Milky Way.
Kala 🎉thanks , you doing great
I think it is wrong to think it happens right after Mass Effect 3.
Ahh a nice video to finish out the work day, thank you!
I really love your videos. Thanks :)
Glad you like them!
I have enjoyed the Geth, both as adversaries and allies, and look forward to seeing how they're included in further installments.
No single canon ending, won't happen would ignore over half of the actual choices.
Next Big Vilan, The Protheans. With the Dark Matter plot in the middle 👌
Thank you. Learned new lore today.
10:30 i think you mispoke when you said Legion was completely absent from ME3, because theres the whole mission on Rannok where you help Legion free his people from reaper control...
Yeah, I just meant he's not a companion, but I should have worded it better !
10:35 Legion was absent from all of ME3? Did we play the same game?
6:13 So Alec, Garson, and other original pathfinders could’ve probably seen the Jardaan or atleast their ships at some point while using telescope to map out cluster. Anyone else find it interesting that they are all conveniently dead?
The telescope was used by the Geth. The quarian stole data from the telescope and transferred it to the Initiative.
«Since the added seen of the perfect destroy ending shows shepard alive»
Shepard is alive with no added ending.
I remember in Stargate they daisy chain the gates and connect 2 galaxies. How epic would it be if they made their own relays and did the same thing.
my take on any type of time travel would be that a small faction found a way to travel faster than the initiative and got there centuries before kind of like the outriders plot
I didn't even know about the telescope that's so cool!
Yes
I had no idea about this telescope, super interesting
great video I always liked the geth especially when they made a mass relay telescope & They should`ve kept the dark energy idea from mass effect 2 it was good i can`t wait to see what happens in the next game.
Destroy Ending = killing EDI & Legion
Andromeda Galaxy is 2,5 million years away, not 200 million.
@@AleksNeve Thanls mental decimal point error. it basically 25 times further then a cross galaxy relay jump which is very fast.
mass effect MP in andromeda is so fun
or should i say, gethoscope? *dr evil hand*
*evil laughter*
Bioware could combine elements from both galaxies into a new multi-part series. Whatever they do, I hope they do not rush the writing like they did in three and Andromeda. I hope they make choices matter as well.
Also since the out in such subpar effort into andromeda.
I will subtitle the next Mass Effect "The Andromeda Redemption"
The initiative took a dormant mass relay to andromeda on board the nexus that links to the geth telescope to create a real time travel between galaxies 🤔
Benefactor is The Illusive Man, you heard it here first
Before the release of Andromeda, the developers themselves said that Cerberus was not related to the Andromeda Initiative
if everything in the trailer is there for a reason, then i wonder what the hourglass nebula is doing there, could just be that it hints at something you have to do there in the game, OR the operative word is being TIME, hinting at time travel, just my thought on it atleast
yes would love the return of the dark energy concept, or a new force that had the reapers on edge, honestly thought there was much more to the reapers than just, robot and organic fight bad, far more nuance than that, but anyway led me to sort of rewrite the story fan fic but concurrently with canon, with a few altered core points, such as TIM (what his sacrifice entailed), how E.D.I was actually a metaphor for something bigger in the context of the catalyst (with elements of the reaper Queen story concept) and a new faction that was essentially a representative of the synthesis option, this would've been tied into the ambiguous threat and necessary evil of the leviathans to an extent, was also hard to come up with a threat that was more terrifying than the reapers, but there's a few ideas about that, and i agree, no time travel should be used, also the synthesis option would've ben the best option to counter this new threat, but cud be worked around in case other options were chosen, just variations of how to achieve the same goal, but anyways this other faction would be doing there own thing to help the galaxy that impacts the crew of the Normandy and other said characters, so when leviathan analyses Shepard's mind and experiences and they quoted "it is clear why they see you as a threat, your victories are more than a product of chance" we could add some weight behind that statement, as for some new characters best ive come up with is a veteren from the renegade backstory whos the newest upper echelon member of this new faction who has an innate indoctrination resistance code named "Grimm", his autistic partner "Rave" and a vorcha side kick who for all tense and purposes will temporarily be called vorchi😂 ...but that's just something that got me excited for the reemergence of the dark energy plotline
Wym they are already connected they are both Mass Effect games?????
So how do the geth jus casually move 3 mass relays
honestly, i think bioware is going to lean HARD into Einstein's law of relativity. the bending of spacetime and how each person perceives it from their location within the universe.
Mass effect 4 I am looking forward to and I hope we see Shepard again.
Though it will be interesting to see if they found away to flawless bridge the milky way with Andromeda.
Though with as poorly as Andromeda was taken will the actually want to do so?
Poster's note:
I am calling it ME4 because that is what it is, the continuation of Mass effect original trilogy.
What if the mass effect title number isnt a number but Season 2 episode 1
citadel is a mass relay and the reapers moved it close to the earth lol
Would be awesome if they could build a relay strong enough to connect to Andromeda
Shepard is dead get over them
I just really need to know who the benefactor is and who killed Jion Garson, if I gotta find out in the milky way then so be it. Also I just want to explore this universe more
If the Geth had possession of this telescope and it was getting Intel from Andromeda, could the Geth were in contact with the Jardaan?
@@SeverusHunt I will need a source on that.
I kinda believe the Synthesis ending will be made canon
❤
What did Liara say in the last transmission?
@@Callsign_Prophet "Exactly, the council will be furious, although they should know by now not to underestimate human defiance."
It's not like I love Andromeda, but I'd be salty if they tried to ignore it utterly.
Wait a moment. Are we sure the reapers created the mass effect relay's? Could it not be possible that this is actually Leviathan tech?
Sovereign tells us that the reapers created them as a way to make harvest easier and so the races would evolve as they intended at the rate they intended
What if 5 is a prequel to Andromeda
Wasn't there a missing Ark?
It's mentioned in Mass Effect: Annihilation. It's quite the fun read.
Before the release of Andromeda, the developers themselves said that the Reapers were not interested in other Galaxies
Great video on a really fascinating subject. I've heard the Reapers being compared to several race in Sci-fi, but I comparison I don't hear that often is to the AI in The Matrix. Thoughts?
ohhh yeah I can definitely see how these two could be similar!
It's possible that when Liara finds the N7 visor in the snow that she is 600+ years older than she was in the original trilogy, putting her more in-line with Andromeda's story
The scourge is dark energy, and still a problem to be solved in andromeda.
😄💯👍
No, it will be a sequel to both, not a prequel to Andromeda.
That's obviously why Liara looks old, because she's over 700yo.
Give me a good thing if done right
They could go back in time and stop. The reaper Invasion Before it ever happens
Maybe the geth created the angara just a thought? If you look at screenshot with the one that looks a geth head look at the blue circle I swear I can see what looks like an angara 😂
Nope; Timeline doesn't match up.
It's not the type of plot that would age well with time, I think it could be better to hang to the idea of " cosmic horror" from the first game:
When sovereign says: I'm beyond your comprehension, I don't imagine space greta.... I imagine cthulu, when everybody gets crazy by using reaper tech I think on the One ring wich was too much to handle, with his own master and his own directives.. etc
I think that a story that revolves around the reapers harvesting intelligent life to make a super consciousness and the biggest armada to defend from something worse its a bit better.
So, for me I would love some kind of extra galactic organic horror that using quantum entanglement could sense if a galaxy organics are ready to be eaten or not using the dreams or watever space witchery, and basically thanks to that to put geth and reapers as maybe not that horrible and maybe even a solution to a real cosmic horror with teeth and mouths that was on hibernation or travelling till now like a flood making the reapers as a kind of mosses Archs (I'm not Christian but the first game had some hints to Christianity also)
Because: That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die.
- HP Sovercraft
And now go and tell me that space dark matter global warming its better as a plot.
Why do they keep talking as if the relays were destroyed?
