    Yeah I myself just finished my headless guitar love it, I bring it on the oil rigs lol. I just finished my Richie Sambora strat now that I had slot of fun basically just wanted a body and beck and it turned out really good, sounds awesome. I have high end guitars but it's something when you put on together with your own specs , hardware etc. thanks for the reply back.

    A great demo, the song is like one Satch forgot to include on one of his records. Great playing and your sweep picking is awesome.

    Just bought a Voodu Valve. Used to have a Triaxis. It would CRUSH anything I put in front of it but sadly it was stolen :( I can see I'm not going to be disappointed! Rock on Rocktron!!!

      @guitarpaul3645  6 лет назад

      Having a Triaxis stolen has got to be traumatic! I absolutely love mine, they are probably the ultimate valve pre-amp. I notice that Mesa are making new ones for general sale again; a few stores in Europe seem to have new ones but for an eye watering 2500 UK pounds!!
      I have a new video with the Tri-Axis : ruclips.net/video/W_dsGFYeb1Q/видео.html
      The Voodu Valve is a decent alternative.

    Hi there,first of all well done for the sounds and music created ,really well-done,I need some info about the rocktron voodu,how to dumb/save my tone in one file,?do I have first tweak the sounds to the voodu unit than save them as one file,so in the future I can use them or upload them to site.thanks

    • @guitarpaul3645
      @guitarpaul3645  7 лет назад

      Francois Degabriele Hi. The Voodu Valve has a large number of memory patches you can save your tones to. I think there are at least 128 patch spaces, but check out my Voodu Valve review video. You can download load patches from the Internet from the Rocktron website, but you'll need a MIDI interface to connect your computer to the Voodu Valve (I've never done this, it always seemed like a bit of a gimmick to me).

    Great playing. Like another comment said it's difficult to hear the individual characteristics of each, but I thought the Rocktron sounded tighter and sat better in the mix.

      +Guitar Whores Thanks. I have put up a full review of the Voodu Valve. It's a great pre-amp, and has FX built in making it a very small and flexible unit. Despite the valve, the Voodu Valve is pretty much solid state; the distortion is generated digitally, not with the valve which just acts as an input buffer. The TriAxis, however, is the real deal; a high voltage multiple gain valve stage pre-amp, and it does have incredible tones. I think my demo here probably doesn't do it full justice. I'll put up a separate review of the TriAxis soon. Mesa Boogie themselves have a few demos of the TriAxis on RUclips - the one with John Petrucci gives you an idea of what it sounds like.

    I have just pulled the trigger on a MESA BOOGIE triaxis and are looking
    for a power amp to go with it when it arrives. I will be using it at
    home only for about 6 months until I get a band together and so what is
    the best Power Amp to power it for at home. Later I want the 295
    simulclass of course but at home I only need like a 20 watt stereo amp.
    Would a Valvestate by Marshall still give me that awesome tone or is
    there another amp that is better?? Any advice would be great:))

      +robert H Oh it is loads of fun building these cheap kits. I'm just about to make my 3rd, an Ibanez Jem copy. The quality control is pretty low, and you usually have to work around some issues, but the end result can be so unique and satisfying,

      I am looking for a a unit with a good shred tone, and I couldnt ask for a better demo. Exactly what I had in mind. Is the wah built in?

    • @guitarpaul3645
      @guitarpaul3645  7 лет назад

      In the video I used a separate Morley wah going into the front of the Voodu Valve. However, the Voodu Valve does have a really good wah built in to it, but you'll need a Midi foot controller to be able to use it.

  • @Slicklickz

    What's the actual plate voltage on the Rocktron,50 volts or so?

    • @guitarpaul3645
      @guitarpaul3645  7 лет назад

      Slicklickz It's a starved plate design, plate voltage about 12V. The tube is just part of an input buffer, and adds no distortion at all. Believe it or not, all the distortion tones are created by digital signal processing. The signal passes from the buffer to the ADC. The unit is essentially all digital, and totally fools me as it sounds so good. I have put up a video review of it on my channel.

    • @Slicklickz
      @Slicklickz 7 лет назад

      I was just looking at a schematic and is says 39 volts.I had one back in the late 1990's but sold it.I just picked up another one after getting the Voodu sysex editor because I hate working with the menus.I'm going to see if I can get any decent tone out of it.

  • @MrVyrtuoso

    Good shred. But I couldn't tell the difference at all without looking at the vid's references. But I'd have expected that because tone is far more a product of what's in our mind than merely in the gear. We are inclined towards specific tones we like and we shape our gear to reproduce those tones that we first conceive in our head.

    Hi Paul. I currently own a voodoo valve and have been after a triaxis for a while. I can hear some differences a bit more character and clarity from the Mesa and it seems a lot more articulate. Would you recommend me to upgrade considering the triaxis costs three times more in the second hand market than the voodoo? Thanks and great playing btw :)

    • @MICKEYISLOWD
      @MICKEYISLOWD 6 лет назад +1

      The Triaxis is in a totally different league to the Voodoo. The voodoo is good and covers a lot of ground with FX ect but The Triaxis is the best built and sounding preamp ever made still with huge flexibility. Here's the difference... if you use both for recording or playing just at home then they will do that just fine but if you pair the triaxis up with a high end power amp like the 295 simulclass then the tone from the triaxis will leave you staggered and breathless because of the enormously complex mids, smoothness yet super aggressive with perfect note separation. In this scenario the Voodoo Valve will sound completely left behind. But that is what you pay for when you spend £2500 on just the Preamp. It's expensive but absolutely worth every penny. The voodoo is good as I said but it's in the same range as a million other cheaper preamps out their. Hope this helps:)

    • @mattgz1792
      @mattgz1792 6 лет назад

      +Mickeyislowd Thanks for the reply. I actually found a triaxias a few days after asking you the question. It's definitely in another league and I am really happy with even though it needs to be seen by a tech as one of the channels is not working. I had always wanted one and thanks to everyone switching to modellers they are going dirt cheap :)

    • @MICKEYISLOWD
      @MICKEYISLOWD 6 лет назад

      Wow...how much did you pay for your triaxis? I ask this because I can't find one dirt cheap. There is a guy on ebay selling his entire rig for £2500 which comprises of a 6u aluminum flight case, Furman Power Conditioner, Cry Baby rack mounted Wah with pedal, Triaxis version 2, Mesa 290 power amp all in very near perfect condition inc cables and patch leads. Usually the Triaxis are £1500-£2000 depending on condition.
      I'm sorry to hear yours has a fault...Maybe it is something to do with the settings you overlooked in the manual. They are a little complicated for a straight preamp with no FX albeit its a midi controlled beast:)

    • @mattgz1792
      @mattgz1792 6 лет назад +1

      +Mickeyislowd Sadly it not related to programming just no volume at all on clean 2. The unit is 20+ y/o now so I'd expect some issues but I do need that modern clean. About triaxis people asking for those prices will never sell them. It will not be long for them to be worth next to nothing the way modellers are going, btw the new Triaxis plugin nails the tones from the amp. I know someone selling a TA and 2:90 and will forward the info as soon as he confirms he still has it. I did my research before buying and they are going for around £500. Any more than that would be for a mint unit.

      Hi, glad you got a Tri-Axis. It is worth persevering with a repair, as they are truly awesome. Like Mickeyislowd said, when you team it with the Simul-Class power amp, it's awesome. I'm lucky enough to have a 2:Ninety power amp too.
      I have a new video with the Tri-Axis : ruclips.net/video/W_dsGFYeb1Q/видео.html
      The lead 2 red tones are awesome for heavy metal riffs.
      BTW, if you are looking to get your Tri-Axis repaired, then I would recommend Dennis Marshall (just google him). He's based in Scotland and used to be the main Mesa Boogie repair guy in the UK. He knows the Tri-Axis back to front; he's even built entire units from spare parts. He WILL be able to fix anything that is wrong with yours (he fixed mine!), and he charges very reasonable prices.
      Be careful sending it to people who don't know what they're doing!!

      maybe Steve Vai licks will get you noticed more?
      in 2012 I compiled/wrote a manual for guitarists about;
      Basic musical Theory for guitarists of all styles and abilities that struggle to get/understand traditional score and classical/jazz Theory. Not Published...it's a pile of papers and diagrams in a box, it took a lot more hours to write than originally estimated
      I taught , part-time, 12 hours a week..
      guitar and theory individually to all abilities and styles in the late 80s, that makes me feel old!
