I started with Marshalls and Fenders for amps until one day I bought a Mark IV in a pawn shop and it changed the way I play guitar. I now have a Mark IIC+, Studio preamp/simul-stereo 295 set up and a Mark III. When I try other amps, I'm so glad I have Boogies.

I've used many Mesa's.. i currently own a DC-5.. it's an amazing amp. My mark 5 I owned was the best amp I've ever played. The dc5 comes in a close 2nd. Ive owned a dual rec and an electra dyne as well. No other amp company even compares in tone, feel, and versatility. I always go back!

I have a Dual caliber + and a Mark iii. I'm hooked. These are old amps that are still keeping up/surpassing newer high gain amps. PS. Boogie's customer service was very courteous and helpful during all of my orders. Thanks M.B.

I've been a fan of Dream Theater since I first heard "The Glass Prison" in sixth grade... the year the album came out. Lucky me to have found out that every amp John uses was made just a five minute drive from my house. Just awesome. Best tone and feel ever, and everyone at the factory is super nice (Hi to Debbie at the front, and Mike and Rich). I refuse to play anything else other than Mesa now.

I was recently converted over from Marshall to Mesa. You guys make some expensive amps but damn the sound makes it totally worth it. I've never played through more versatile amps than yours. Currently I have a Mesa Dual Rectifier and a DC3. I'm actually starting to prefer the sound of the DC3. the clean tone mixed with the spring reverb is gorgeous. I've never sounded better as a player. I think my dream sound has been achieved! I do want to get one of those Mark V's though!

From what I understand he records the miced cabs at the same time as the DI (a lot of people do). Then if he doesn't like the sound of the recorded amp/cab he has an option to re-amp it through a different amp. I am fairly certain the tones on the recordings are the miced speakers, not the DI.

Yes, John often likes to describe the way something should sound using food or objects. For example he uses the piece of chocolate cake to explain that some part in a song should sound rich and full like a piece of chocolate cake, he explains this in I believe Chaos In Motion studio documentary.

John primarily uses that for effects AFAIK. It's certainly downsized his effects arsenal. On the last tour, he also had a few stomp boxes to complement the Axe-FX Ultra.

Holy crap petrucci has a lot of C+ amps. Not gonna lie, the mark 4 was my favorite tone of his, a little more modern than the c+ but still has the vintage exressive side on the neck humbucker. (see liquid tension experiment reunion show in LA) Great sounds he has there

I don't get it either. He says he's recording DI & re amping if he needs to. He said nothing about cabinets & mics. Explains why his guitar tones are a bit flat & under the keyboards. The magic in those Mesa's are in the power amp section pushing 75w speakers.

  • @SinsAscendant

He probably used it for effect's like Steve Vai does, He uses both Mesa Triaxis' for the clean and running it through the power amp. So it's not being used for cleans, So you're guess is as good as mine! haha

HI +Jared Klock - Good question! Mesa maintains a a dedicated dealer network of Dealers and Distributors who uphold and deliver the quality and service , as dealers, that we aspire to as a company. It's very important to us to work with dealers and distributors who share the same ideals about taking care of their customers and service after the sale, etc. You can search for your nearest authorized Mesa Dealer here: mesaboogie.com/support/locations.html Thanks for your interest and let us know if you have any further questions.

I want to know how many boogies John has helped to sell. And Carlos and Metallica. To reach the same sales as through these boogie users you would have to have massive margeting budget so I quess Mesa has been fortunate. Mesa has a great brand and I have no problem owning several boogie amps. But what the hell is wrong with my mk3 reverb, rolling the reverb level scoops out the mids, sounds a bit like phaser? Any tips mesa? Other that the regular tubes, sockects, contacts.. help appreciated :)
