This video was in my recommended, glad it was. Happy to be a new subscriber. That's a dope PC, the aesthetic is on point with the performance to back it up.
Thank you so much for putting this video together. I didn't even realize they made motherboards specifically for creatives and always thought I had to get the same gear that gamers used. Working on building my second PC now (built my very first one in 2018) and will be using your build as a guide for mine.
CLEAN build! I have the same Fractal North case and did an air cooled Noctua black out build with a ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming WiFi motherboard (RGB all disabled) but I'm still rocking an EVGA RTX 3080 FTW Ultra until I can a snag a decent upgrade; thinking RTX 4080 Super FE but that Asus Proart looks NICE! I'd certainly rock that and it would match just as well.
That case screams aged bourbon. Either that or I’m a raging alcoholic. Great vid as usual! Super interesting, wish I could justify upgrading from the 5950x + 3090, but it doesn’t get much use these days.
I just did a recent build back in december with similar specs for davinci resolve but with the asus rog hyperion case and a asus rog strix 4090 oc gpu. I also used the same bequiet silent wing pro 4 fans total 13 running push/pull config on the asus rog ryujin iii 360 aio and the same asus rog thor 1200w p2 psu.😊
Asus has a fairly reasonable workstation board for the new threadripper cpus. I would be interested to see if the additional lanes would help both gpus and the storage work more effectively. Also, nice arya organic?
Hello, sir. There's one important thing not mentioned: 13900K's iGPU has hardware native H264 and H265 codec acceleration. Although I have an Ryzen 5900X (64GB DDR4 RAM) + RTX 3060, I bought an Intel Ark 770 16GB for the same reason and... editing is soooooo much better now with no more proxies. Even rendering is better. Loved your channel, subscribed today. Keep on rocking!!!
Honestly, been really wanting to upgrade my GPU, still running GTX 1080 Strix (which has served me... OH so well). Heard that new AMD gpu's might be on the horizon so, extremely interested in seeing what improvements they might've brought forward on that. Not really too concerned on the ray traced performance as I don't play many games that require it.
I also have this case with a 360 AIO, but when I use it as intake, hot air will be fed to my videocard, not shure why your (GPU) temps are so low. I do have the glass edition tho.
Can't lie been eyeing the pro art stuff. You swayed my opinion for this being my next build. I work on a lot of 3d in blender and editing in Davinci Resolve
very nice set up I have an arc A380 along with the 3090 the 3090 is for gaming and I use the 3080 as my AV one video encoder to save on the performance so I don’t take a huge hit
@2:30 Can someone explain about this? I'm not expert on PC stuff but I'm planning my next video editing PC with at least 3 different M2 SSD (programs + cache + footage). Does dual GPU compromise that drastically?
No it doesn't as badseed said in the video. You can use all m.2 slots but your pcie slots for gpu will run at ×8 speeds which means your Gpus will run at half the speed. It goes like this. Cpu has 20 lanes so 4 lanes for your main o/s nvme drive, then 8 lanes for 1st gpu and another 8 lanes for the 2nd gpu. The z790 chipset has 20 pcie lanes all pcie 4.0 bandwidth, so you can still populate all the other m.2 slots on this proart z790 board with 3 more pcie gen 4 nvme drives. And you still have another 8 lanes unused which you can add another nvme drive via an add in card or other cards on the remaining ×4 pcie slot on the motherboard. So the total lanes on this z790 platform with an intel 12th,13th or 14th gen cpu is 40 pcie lanes. If you go with the equivalent proart amd platform motherboard and cpu then you get 44 lanes as amd cpus have 24 pcie lanes compared to intel's 20 pcie lanes.
Ah okay, thanks for explanation. But based on the render speeds in this video, the dual 4080 still pack nearly double punch so they dont seem to be running at half speed@@Prabhu_njd
@@Siimkristjanpariis pcie lane bus bandwidth works differently than what dual gpus using the cuda cores for rendering videos does. Yup they still pack a punch. But his setup is bottlenecked by the motherboard and cpu. The difference is around 15 to 20%. Do you wanna spend 5 or 6 grand more on top of the cost of this build plus more ram to gain 20 to 30% more performance?
@@badseedtech LOL. I don't have the patience for it, bro. I got too much stuff to worry about out in the world as it is. Love the new editing rig though. 0 RGB. You're doing it right.
Bit of a weird choice for them to give you the Intel version of that board instead of the AMD, which has dual pcie5 M2 slots. Since the AMD version also has full 40mbit USB4, Thunderbolt on the Intel isn't really an advantage either.

Are we sure that you're getting the full 32 GB of VRAM? You're certainly getting the advantages of a multi GPU system but it's not normal to double your vram in multi gpu setups. For example RedShift and octane can only use the amount of VRAM of the card with the lowest amount. For example if you had a 3090 and a 3070, you would only have access to 8GB of VRAM. Still though such a set up would render frames faster but you could also run out of VRAM if you had too many big textures in the scene.
