    Stunning car, the design and JPS livery. Frank Gardner did a great job preparing these BMW's. And Richards was one of the very best touring cars drivers in the world in those years. I always wondered what would have happened if he did a few ETCC races in these JPS BMW's. I bet he would have been a sensation in Europe.

      Was the engine in the stock location in these cars?

    2.20.75 compared to his 1985 Top Ten time of 2:21.396, half a second at Bathurst is quite an improvement considering the couple of mistakes he made and the fact that the car was hardly different to its 1985 spec, the only difference was a slight relaxation of valve lift granted by FISA which resulted in only 10HP

      Didn't know about the valve lift restriction on the 635.

    • @davidewhite69
      @davidewhite69 2 года назад +2

      @@TouringCarsofAus the slight relaxation of lift restriction was given to all naturally aspirated engines in 1986 just before the start of the ETCC, Commodores went from 390HP to 420, thats why Grice had more power at the first race in europe because the HDT hadnt updated their engines in time

    My Mum used to call those BMWs 'Black Beauties', after the famous book 'Black Beauty'.

    Loved this video. You do not perhaps have Colin Bond in the Alfa Romeo?

      Which one mate? the GTV6 or 75 turbo?

    • @MLC...
      @MLC... 2 года назад +1

      @@TouringCarsofAus Preferably the GTV6 but the 75 turbo would also be nice. Colin Bond drove spectacularly, especially at tracks like Amaroo Park where he could give the big engined cars a go. Also Tony Longhurst with the 325i BMW was really spectacular to watch.

    Got to a 6cyl, preferably a HEMI one. But BMW will do

    I cannot stand German cars, however, these 635 coupes especially like this look kickarse.
