I'm a registered nurse have been a nurse for almost 18 years yes the money is good in some states and great in some states and horrible in some states. Nursing is a very hard job mentally and physically you will earn every penny so if money is the only motive and you don't have compassion and truly love helping people you're gonna burnout fast. I did travel nursing for 2 year's gained alot of independence and experience that way settled in California where we make really good money, I've always been a bedside nurse and some days I be ready to hang it up I love helping people taking care of people but you're patience will be tested dealing with people patients and management many days great career overall but not for the weak.

Thank you! I love your videos! I just got accepted to NYU accelerated program today and will start in January!! However I have no idea how I'm going to pay for it cause I couldn't do FAFSA lol. Think I'll be working at a restaurant on days off..
Do you enjoy being a nurse? I want to be a nurse but TikTok and RUclips has me so scared with so many nurses leaving their jobs. More then the money I like the idea of not working 5 days a week
Hi Jamila I'm a nursing student who's in his last semester, I agree. Theres a lot of scare tactics being used by nurses on social media. But like every other job In the world there are pros in cons. The cons are being responsible for another person, multitasking and long shifts. The pros are its a great paying career, the normal work week is 3 days on and 4 days off, so great if you hate the 9-5. And you have the freedom to work anywhere at any place. (Its the most im demand career). You can do a lot with nursing and it can change your life if you are resilient and are willing to work hard. So if you have a caring personality and are interested in medicine, I would recommend it! Good luck 👍
@@RaveGamer519 Thank you very much for your response it is definitely motivating me as their is a program starting in October. I really want to level up and change my life get unstuck. congratulations on nursing school
You already got this! Believe it! 🤗 from one nursing student to another, because we just gon speak it into existence now!! Don't doubt yourself, you are capable of more than you know ❤
May I ask if you have ADN or BSN? everyone tells me there is little to no pay difference in ADN and BSN and that BSN I mainly for getting into management roles. Would you say this is true ?
I have a BSN and honestly I wouldn’t know for sure but I do know other nurses confirming the pay gap is not by much between the two at all sometimes even just a few cents difference lol So it’s really just up to the persons long term goals 💜💜💜
I have been a registered nurse almost 18 years got my BSN afterwards six years after becoming a RN and I wanted to travel nurse and found many hospitals wanted a BSN over a ADN that was in 2010 I hear its high demand now when applying they definitely will overlook youre application and choose that BSN nurse or master's nurse
If I signed up for a position that says “night shift” will my shift continue to be in night shifts only or will I be forced to rotate??? I heard some nurse rotate between nights and days and that tbh terrifies me. Btw tysm hun for the video 😊
No if you are hired for night's thats you're shift until you apply for something else what youre talking about is called a variable position we have these which means the nurse can be pulled to days or nights on a schedule to help where the need is she's a variable works both.
Nursing is not for the faint at heart but you could make a great living . You will pay s lot of invite tax so you need to set up a business in the side to offset it.
So true about those taxes, whew! I make pretty decent pay here at a union hospital in Boston. But Boston definitely needs to step it up with the starting pay for RNs. Its so expensive to live here.
I live in a state that doesn’t believe in taking their cut of my hard earned money! Sucks for all the people who do have to pay a state their hard earned money lol… unions SUCK!
She answered the title of the video at 4:59 and 5:37.
Whew thank you

Note to self: work in NYC✍🏽
But I heard the patient to nurse ratios are crazy plus cost of living
Just live in New Jersey and work in New York. People do it all the time.
@@Ms.pretty314if you do critical care, there's apparently a new law that requires a max of 2:1 ratio!

How is the program going? I noticed a few youtubers that vlog about the NYU nursing program and that it’s a pretty hefty price haha
Please make a video on union/non-unionized hospitals if you can! NYU doesn’t even utter the U word lol
You're such a gem! I really appreciate this video & your transparency! Much Love! Did you do a nursing residency program?
Thank you my dear 💜 ! So I didn’t do a residency program myself but I was never opposed to it at the time of looking !
This was so good and the quality is amazing! 👍🏾👏🏾🤗

Yup that’s why i stayed at my dermatology job … surely not because of the pay lol but great environment and experiences … I’ve learned so much.
Smart! Environment is so important in this career and should not always be overlooked for pay.
