Some nurses see hospitals as their end goal but I just want to shed some light on other opportunities in nursing. You also need to take into account your mental and physical stability when you work in hospitals. Home health in California pays 150-200$ per admission which takes 10-20mins, if you pick up 5 patients a day you can earn 1k a day. As a nurse, you have endless possibilities in this industry. Just find what gives you good money and stability in your life if you want to last for more than 10 years.

I recommend looking at teaching hospitals with established new grad residency program if possible. The learning curve in ICU is higher due to the acuity. You’ll be studying a bit outside of work and familiarizing yourself with the ICU. Pros: solid experience, cons: I disliked my toxic manager, almost quit a few times. I stuck it out. My experience my first year made me a better nurse and I am thankful for it.

I love how strategic these young men are and what makes it better is that he made a point of saying that you still have to care about the work you do and the people you take care of. Excellent. Having said that, I urge him to put himself first a little more, your family will let you take care of you until you have nothing left. You are going to have to set sone boundaries now.

I totally relate to Oliver’s family situation! I am also a first gen college student and now working at KP…we don’t have the same opportunities to splurge on ourselves and “live our best lives”BUT it does feel amazing to give back to our parents. Proud of you for giving back to your family too ! ❤

First I want to say how awesome and wise beyond your years you are Oliver! Also Jason this video answered my question I posted on another video regarding my concern on applying for a 20 hr PACU position with Kaiser but not being able to get OT. I know I’ll get on call pay & call back but the concern is 40 hrs biweekly not being enough to live on in Cali. I’m a 18 yr RN looking to end my nursing in Cali and retire or atleast only work per diem from nursing at my 20 yr mark. I don’t have much debt

Exactly why Med Surge should make more. The acuity is higher than what people will make you believe. I always had to transfer patients that were near death but on the Tele floor. And that's after having them for 4-5hours trying to keep them alive while administration search for beds, while I have ton neglect my other patients. I was over it

Nursing salary in CA is the best bang for your buck considering the amount of schooling, loans, and income as a new graduate. Pharmacist need 8 years of schooling (4 years undergraduate + 4 years for doctorate + 1-2 years additional for residency if wanting to work in a hospital). Average student debt is 250k plus and starting salary is 150k. Kaiser definitely pays the upper end for pharmacist in CA. Pharmacy directors range between 180k low end to 250k higher end. Inspiring me to create some content about pharmacists salary. I've been fully focused on real estate currently.
