    Luckily don’t get sea sick. Almost always sail October to May. Have had several ports cancelled or changed. No big deal for me any more as I sail for the ship fun and not the, “same old, same old” port. I HAVE seen the deck pool go 4 decks high and even half the crew looking ‘green’. Just another ‘adventure’ for me😎

    I sailed out of Ft Lauderdale, a few years ago, into a hurricane. I loved it. The motion made me aware that I was on a ship, rather than at the Holiday Inn.

    We've always cruised in September and October since 2017. NEVER had to directly deal with a hurricane. A downed bridge out of Baltimore yes, but no storms!

    Captain Cory, I live in St. Petersburg. Waiting for Helene to pass by in the Gulf. I’ve been on 30 cruises and fortunately have never ran into a hurricane. Thanks for your channel!!

    We sailed last year in September (during hurricane season). A repositioning cruise out of Tampa to Boston. We were very lucky with the weather - one of the smoothest cruises we’ve been on. We did get covid however at the end of it. 😂

    Weve always sailed for my birthday end of September and weve always fot stuck in a hurricane except 1x! Now mind you, we r seasoned cruisers & we love it when theres bad weather cuz we get "locked in" by the captain locking up all exit doors so no1 goes outside on deck. We know when we see all exit doors locked off we are in a for a good ride! The blat listing is an experience that 1 will never forgot but hurricane weather on a cruise at nite is the best sleeping ever! Just don't open up your balcony door to enjoy the nite air and skund of the sea cuz in a hurricane you are gonna get 1 wet room real fast! Stay safe out there on the high seas!

    I sailed the SS Norway in 1992 and we had to pull in the stabilizers to outrun Hurricane Andrew. We docked in Miami and toured Homestead the day before Andrew hit and decimated Homestead. Needless to say the Norway was booking it to Miami and it was swaying! A lot!

    Sailed out of Boston, going to Bermuda, late in the hurricane season and we had to sail around hurricane Irma. We were on the Norwegian Majesty. Sea was really angry, but the little ship did Ok. Coming home we sailed around a Nor'easter. Same experience.

    Not hurricane related but my family and I sailed out of Vancouver BC on RC Radiance OTS. We were heading up the AK strait and it was very wavy. They had to drain all the pools and lock the elevators at the bottom. Very fun. Everyone had the sea sickness patches behind the ear. Good times.

    I definitely cruise often during hurricane season. I generally travel July through December. I've encountered a few rough seas, but nothing earth shattering. In truth, I don't want to experience extremely bad seas.

    We did a transalantic from Rotterdam to Miami, and the Captain did his best to skirt across the top of a hurricane. He went as far north as he could without affecting our schedule to be in New York. We had a few days that the ship was rocking and rolling with 21 to 25 foot swells. As I grew up on boats, I was the best, I love that feeling, and I slept the best I have ever had in a long time.
    However, we choose not to cruise in the Caribbean during hurricane season. We'll do Alaska and transalantics, but not Caribbean.

    A cruise without a hurricane is a cruise without excitement! 😂 Our record: 30 foot seas. I'd hoped to beat that during Sandy, but the ship decided to stay in port for a couple of days. Other than the wind and rain outside tou wouldn't have known it as tugs were keeping us pushed up to the pier. 😊

    • @CindyKnies
      @CindyKnies Месяц назад +1

      @@howardosden3112 we have the same scenario we are going on a Boston. We had to stay in Port for two days and the tugboats were keeping us safe and shore. Sounds like you were on the same cruise and this was also hurricane Sandy.

      @@howardosden3112 no we we stayed in Port for two days and then we went out to see and headed to Florida seas were really bad when we headed out. We lost two ports and I think they were two of the ABC islands if I remember correctly.
