This guy is a good teacher and seems to really like good music with this choice for a song tutorial. I wish him the best and Im sure he will have a bright future ahead of him.
Too bad these two "students" are not doing what he taught. The strumming is off and one of their chords is simply WRONG, hard to believe after all his good teaching to not do this right, but they are NOT doing this correctly.
It used to seem to me that my life ran on too fast And I had to take it slowly just to make the good parts last But when you're born to run it's so hard to just slow down So don't be surprised to see me back in that bright part of town I'll be back in the high life again All the doors I closed one time will open up again I'll be back in the high life again All the eyes that watched me once will smile and take me in And I'll drink and dance with one hand free Let the world back into me and on I'll be a sight to see Back in the high life again You used to be the best to make life be life to me And I hope that you're still out there and you're like you used to be We'll have ourselves a time And we'll dance 'til the morning sun And we'll let the good times come in And we won't stop 'til we're done We'll be back in the high life again All the doors I closed one time will open up again We'll be back in the high life again All the eyes that watched us once will smile and take us in And we'll drink and dance with one hand free And have the world so easily and oh we'll be a sight to see Back in the high life again High life High life Back in the high life again We'll be back in the high life again All the doors I closed one time will open up again We'll be back in the high life again All the eyes that watched us once will smile and take us in And we'll drink and dance with one hand free And have the world so easily and oh we'll be a sight to see Back in the high life again High life Back in the high life Oh, we'll be back
Except you guys left out the middle section chords changes, the musical interlude and sustaining while the mandolin parts strums the parts in double time
Great lesson, and you cover the rhythmic bits very nicely. Can I suggest the following for the first part of the chorus?D A7sus4/E D/F# Back in the highlife a-gainG D/A A7sus4 D Dsus4 Dall the doors I closed one time will open up a-gain
Ahhh, yes. Listen to the recorded version's bassline for the chorus. Rising bass line with dropping chord structure. And no disrespect to the Skullster, but what he calls a "modified" A, is an A7sus4. End of.
He's a rock star? Had no idea. Great explanation of how to play the song. My advice to contribute is to disregard the Steve Winwood version and instead listen to how Warren Zevon covers it on his album Life'll Kill Ya. It's infinitely better for getting a sense of how the song is played on an acoustic guitar.
Absolutely. Reread my comment. If you have a full band with synth, Mr. Winwood's your guy. However if you seek to ply the song on guitar the way Skullster is demonstrating, the Zevon version is unsurpassed. I defy you to listen to both versions and not agree. ruclips.net/video/xgs6eLCaN9s/видео.html
Keith mentioned all the chords in this song that are "pushed" but these guys are not pushing the chords at all! Don't want to bad mouth the guys playing but they are mediocre players and should be demonstrating Keith's lesson much better than that.

You’re right he seems to really care about teaching. I just wish he’d let me teach him a little something.

What a nice guy!! a superstar taking time to do this for fellow musician players ❣❣😊

I think it’s great he takes the time to do this
Yes, it's very generous of his time and talent.
Steve is an absolute godsend and legend. Thank you Keith for covering this. God bless.
It used to seem to me that my life ran on too fast
And I had to take it slowly just to make the good parts last
But when you're born to run it's so hard to just slow down
So don't be surprised to see me back in that bright part of town
I'll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time will open up again
I'll be back in the high life again
All the eyes that watched me once will smile and take me in
And I'll drink and dance with one hand free
Let the world back into me and on I'll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again
You used to be the best to make life be life to me
And I hope that you're still out there and you're like you used to be
We'll have ourselves a time
And we'll dance 'til the morning sun
And we'll let the good times come in
And we won't stop 'til we're done
We'll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time will open up again
We'll be back in the high life again
All the eyes that watched us once will smile and take us in
And we'll drink and dance with one hand free
And have the world so easily and oh we'll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again
High life
High life
Back in the high life again
We'll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time will open up again
We'll be back in the high life again
All the eyes that watched us once will smile and take us in
And we'll drink and dance with one hand free
And have the world so easily and oh we'll be a sight to see
Back in the high life again
High life
Back in the high life
Oh, we'll be back
Very very cool! Especially the playing along part. I am playing piano along, it's a beautiful piano song!

Lee raiken no matter that Mr. Winwood actually wrote the song?
