I love how he talks you through the rhythm ("the rhythmic funky thing in the middle"), going through it slowly, and explaining what it sounds like with and without. Also that occasion chuckle, as he enjoys the genius of the song when played just right.
Mr urban you are simply QUALITY!! ALWAYS LOVED YOUR GUITAR PLAYING YOUR A CLASS ACT MY FRIEND!! PITY THERE'S NOT MORE LIKE YOU !! TAKE CARE AND KEEP ON KEEPING ON😁
Hello. Great video and wonderfull formula from basic lesson to the complete band and backing track… Very good idea and very fast learning… Congratulations… More with this method please!!!...
Don't get me wrong, this is a great tutorial and he is a skilled and amiable teacher. However, he emphasises that the chorus power chord bit is all about rhythm then gets the rhythm all wrong. That section starts with a 'G' power chord on the top three strings (E,A,D) then slides audibly up to 'C' on the same three strings with a very quick palm mute to box it off before continuing. You can hear it on the original song and if you find the Boston promo video you can clearly see Tom Scholz doing just that. It is harder to play but sounds much better when you get it right. I'm not just being pedantic here, it really does sound much better. Also, everyone who loves the track also loves the little rhythm variations which occur when the power chords are on 'D' which are not mentioned.
Finally own the whole set! Folks were bad mouthing the guitar, to hell with them! I love mine! I got the Chocolate electric with two p90 single coils! It kind of gives me a bridge between a Telecaster and Les Paul! I love my guitar! Love the tuning gears! And my bridge! And the pseudo-pearl inlays! Beautiful, affordable set! And Lessons! Like Keith is your personal teacher, who I couldn’t afford otherwise! Lol.
I've always thought Kieth could do a version of Little River Band's "Cool Change" he is an amazing musician who I have come to respect in recent times!! Will see him if he ever tours again in my area.
This channel gives this old guy that 'magic' pedal! The 'Confidence' pedal of course, when you have a couple of recognisable tunes, it boosts your confidence through the roof. Im happy to sit in my back yard of an evening and rattle out Knocking on heavens door, some CCR and Far from any road. From the corner of my eye I've spied a neighbour or two...beer in hand, mouthing the words with a cool laid-back look on their face and thats not just one neighbour.
Keith is seriously one of the best instructors around, makes all the wanna be legends look terrible, Keith is a legendary player. If only more "real" stars did this without the look at me rubbish they carry on with
Um, I trust this was a slip of the tongue but Keith said add pinky to 6th string, maybe in Aussie land they're upside down but up here that's the first string. LOL And for guitar students modified C is called a Cadd9. Celebrity teachers, gotta love em. (they are good lessons!)
Within the first few seconds of your video, you did a "D" and a "modified "D". Could you confirm that these are the first two notes of Tom Petty's "Free Falling" or correct me otherwise? That's the first thing I thought of!
It took me 10 minutes to learn the song on my own but I love Kieth's teaching style... Very patient. Now they guy singing it at the end? Damn! Where did that come from?
You care if you don't know what a good guitar sounds like! This is a site for beginners. Do you disagree or are you one of the beginners here? There are also better tutorials here, but at least Keith sings! ☮
Can't understand people knocking this if you don't like it don't watch it it's helped a lot of people out thanks Keith
Excellent, thanks heaps Keith

there are a few people who have way more subscribers that already did more then a feeling, but personally this is the best tutorial i've found yet
10:26 tears in my eyes! I thought only Brad could hit those notes!
awesome teacher Keith

I want your neighbours, mine report me 😌
Brad Delph really had the hook on the vocals since Shultz created a song he could only imagine what his mind wanted to impart to the world.
I feel very good with this lesson
A great way of teaching and to put into a band scenario is very informative
cool teacher,band and sound
It's more than a lesson!!
great teaching, as always...but tha JOHN, omg, what a voice, what a passion, what a body -gorgeous..is he a kind a rockstar already, or what??
You ROCK!
Thank you for the lesson

SUPER TUTO I LIKE TOO MUCH THANKS FROM BELGIUM
Awesome song guys please make a video about your guitars collection
Fantastic concept.! But that guy singing...wowww,!
good instruction- thanks man.
Great video
Thank you
What was the catchy tune playing during the credits at the end?
superb
good singing also
Thanks for the vid. You're missing the C power chord just before returning to the G in the chorus.
Hi OD3 for distorsion?
What is that acoustic tune at the end during the credits?
I need to know that too! Did you find out?
07:27 - 😂 LOVE IT
I need to learn how to do that chuck a chuck a thing. Any help with that?
same bruh, so annoying
Marcel Moreau just play the chord, than to do the "chucka-chuka" thing, “relax” your fingers on the strings to mute them
Bientos!

So the Em is the RESOLVE?
Plse add diagrams ! Thnx !
greetz from cold and rainy Netherlands
I didn’t know that Keith Urban was teaching lessons on RUclips.

Chord at 1:07 = 😲😱😢😍

I think the lead guitar is a little bit diffrent.
5:40 11:00 13:25
I am sorry , the diagrams are there, MEA CULPA !
Great vocals emulating Brad Delp. Superior! One thing though, a nice 12 string acoustic would sound better than electric.
not an easy song to sing
@Windows1531 BS
Can’t believe I laughed at your more than a feeling joke lol..
The tried his best that’s what I can say but hey
Keith is awesome and shares alto with these lessons but his sig guitars are Crappola.
Nice wife he has!
Why do all the guitars sound like doo doo ?
Amazing to me a pro at this level with a career like his and a signature model guitar calls his 1st string 6. Shame.
Steve Manning well, he is down under so he might see things differently.
been playing 45 yrs. and that guitar sounds like junk. got a Mitchell D 100 that's Smokes that guitar.
Dean Page who cares.

45 years and playing a $129 guitar? cool...
Guitar player could focus on feel...OK but not great.
Man ive been playing this song since 77. This guitarist doesn't play it right at all
Its for beginners
12:20 the full band version would be nice if they didn't have that annoying singer. man his high whining sucks--- totally ruins the song.
