My first vehicle had an M-22 close ratio in it. Old chevy Scottsdale 3/4 with a built up 355. Everything broke but the trans. When the apocalypse hits only thing will be left are cockroaches ,9th generation Toyota Corollas (03-08)and M22 Rock crushers.
The close second to third shift M-22 was one of the things I loved about my 327 cubic inch w/ a single 4 barrel 650 dual feed double pumper Holley carb'ed 65 El Camino n cruising E Street San Bernardino Ca on Friday n Saturday nights. The Sig Erson cam was labeled 'mostly strip n little street' :) We never got shut down n raced any cubic inch or carb combo that was game to try us. I wish all of the f*cking experts in the comments would post YOUR videos of YOU in YOUR race car so we could tell YOU how to drive. I think Dean knows his car and is driving accordingly.
I have two Muncie 4 speeds , sitting on a shelf as I can't use them because they can't handle the hp or torque my engine produces , even built the can't handle much over 600 hp and end up failing , the only oem 4 speed that can handle the power is a Ford top loader , two things Ford did better then chevy was the 4 speed top loader and the 9 inch rear-end , and im a chevy fan but facts don't lie!!!!!!
I run a tremec tko600 pro built by Liberty gear behind a 421 Chevy small block. Not a cheap trans but a really sweet shifting trans. The overdrive knocks the 3.90 gears down pretty good for highway travel too.
All the ones commenting negatives on this video are just armchair racers that wished their Prius could even run an eighth of what this 72 deuce just did.
Well done Dean! From one racer to another, being cool, collected, and having fun while staging is winning every time!!
