In this Combat Patrol battle between Orks and Dark Angels we see two video editors here at Play On try Warhammer 40k 10e for the first time. Owen has never played a game of 40k ever. Ben is ready to unleash his inner Ork. To help the new players we have brought in guest coaches Mr. Initiative James Jones for the Orks and Stephen Box of @VanguardTactics for the Dark Angels.

For newbies to the game like me, I would love to see a "how to play 10th" video that covers a little more of the basics, like how cover works and what it does for you and the enemy, how exactly you know that a model from your unit can or can't fight, things that may be taken for granted and, while covered in the core rules, always has those niche scenarios that you don't think about until you're in them. That kind of video would be greatly appreciated!
They made a how to play 10th edition video a couple weeks ago. Just look back through their videos
ruclips.net/video/NFnTkjk025E/видео.html
What he said ^ It was one of the first videos they did after 10th edition/leviathan dropped
@@shawnmcbride221 yeah I’ve watched it, I’ve watched quite a few how to plays, and I’m okay with the basics. I guess what I meant was a more in depth focus on some basic things like cover because I believe situations can be a little more nuanced and maybe rules as written don’t always cover all scenarios, and some interpretations need to be made. Warhammer matches aren’t always cut and dry, I’ve heard many times about tournament where judges have to make a call because the two players can’t agree, so I was interested in a vid where they could go over situations they’ve come across that were or could be confusing to new people who only know basics
Yessss like the 9th edition!
A person that has watched this channel for years and loves war hammer but has not played a game in 15 years this is a dream come true, such lucky people!
Idk ur current situation but you should totally hop back in. I was also out of it for a few years cuz school got in the way of playing, and also college students don’t have much money 😅. But I was lucky that my gfs, cousins, husband was barely starting it and that was enough to reignite the fire for me. He introduced me to a local gaming club. Second best decision I made was to join. Give it a shot man. Try kill team, $60 squad box, a few paints. 🤷♂️ what’s to lose
You guys easily make the best, most digestible Warhammer battle reports out there. So many people make battle reports where you need to understand the game at a relatively high level to get the most out of it, but I love that you explain what the various rules are and why they're important. I also love that you give commentary on the board state and what's going on in the game, all while condensing the entire thing into a 40-minute video. It makes me want to play 40k and Age of Sigmar, so much so that I bought my first 2 armies recently!
Definitely want to see more beginner / coaching videos, maybe discussions over game concepts and strategies?
Same, I would like to play a game but man do I get confused
This would be great. Just do after action reports where the new players can go more in depth and be interviewed about their experience, and be able to ask questions about anything that was confusing or unexpected.
@@resumpsi5468this is something we already do, but it is an extra for our patrons and RUclips members. We went over deployment, movement, and learning the game.
Love this kind of video not the after action reports for new players still learning. After action reports are still fun but to fast pace for players still trying to learn. So this is really helpful and exciting to watch and learn some.
Ben representing Lorna Shore! Also, Stephen Box is an amazing ambassador for the game and it was truly great seeing him interact with you guys. Great video!
Amazing song too
Amazing album, really@@NemmyBlade
This is such a good format for a Combat Patrol game. Hearing the coaching was awesome
"better than you did last game." "Hey, easy".... That solicited a full on cackle
I love the idea of coaches taking a new player through a great combat patrol game. Combat patrol is probably the best thing in 10th as it lowers entry for more players. More players more fun!
´James givin out major dad vibes to Ben is soooo wholesome. These guys are MADE to be ork players!
Even before getting too far in the video I just want to say what an awesome way of introducing the newer faces of Ben and Owen. Such a delightfully fitting way to get to see some people that im vaguely aware of, but never could really put a face to :D
I love Stephen Box working with you guys. Both Play On and Stephen have great sportsmanship and teach everyone how to play!
Yes Please do a larger rematch in 6 months or so after they've both gotten some more practices in!
Don't get me wrong, I miss Steve and tac, but I like Owen and the war mistress! Definitely would love to see more of them representing the marines!
They on break?
@@ShadowSlayerPhoenix Steve is a teacher. So that's why he's not on as often. And I'm not sure on Tac. I think he enjoys the hobby side of warhammer then playing.
@@egoraptorschin9412Tak mostly dealing behind the scene but don't worry he'll be back in upcoming combat patrol
@@egoraptorschin9412 I wonder what their video turnaround time is, you would think Steve would be around a lot since it's the summer, maybe he's doing summer programs.
@@HereticsRight I would assume. Especially with the flooding last year.
whoa space marines are so strong this edition. the orks were a bit unfortunate turn 1 but that SM shooting with oath is just brutal.
I love this coaching content! I too am new so this is so digestible! Please make more coaching series! Especially with CB boxes as it helps newbies like me get into the game! Plus, shoutout to Vanguard Tactics, love his coaching. Explanations and advice was totally understandable.
Ben was such a treat to watch in this game. Fantastic energy from both players though!
My friend Owen sent me this video, my name is Ben. It was quite a funny coincidence, felt it appropriate to cheer on the orks gotta support my fellow Ben.
In a parallel universe, we’ve actually switch places.
This one was awesome! Good coaches can really make all the difference!
I saw a lot of Tabletop Channels, but this Format with Combat Patrol and the Pro’s with Tipps and Tricks, is GOLD! Please keep it up! Because me as Father with Minimum of Time for the Hobby, this is the Way to Go! Greetings from Germany ✌🏻
Ben seems like a neat guy! And Im not just say that as a fellow Ben lol
As usual, great work everyone.
It was nice seeing Ben and Owen in front of the cameras for once instead of behind them and James and Stephen made for great coaches to them.
Really fun to watch, would love to see more of this!
loved this coaching play in the game! Gotta do this with some famous youtubers (not just Warhammer people) would be sick to see!
Orks and lorna shore shirt, i already love Ben
Ben is a real treat, great game overall
"Shooting was never in their cards anyway" 😂 That joke was astrological
Oh watching Ben get those lucky rolls was such a joy. I wonder what a game with him and Nick would looks like.
Loved watching this and really hopeful for a full series like this with all the combat patrol combinations out there.
Great game!!! Easy to follow. Very good explainations. Also good video for new players to watch… will definitly recommand it. Fantastic show guys! Play on!
Nice lorna shore hoodie🤘
This is one of my favourite episodes so far would love to see this rematch. Maybe a kill team game, make a series introducing people to new games
Im brand new to 40k and to see this, the coaches, other new players, even just the idea to have commentary over the top. Every bit of these videos are perfect and i have enjoyed every one ive seen so far. Its reslly helping me learn the game
It’s really awesome to see a session with coaching, and two very different styles of coaching. Both were really helpful to understanding what was happening!
"I went on amazon, I already ordered the gravestones."
so easy to watch this
keep em coming
as a new player it makes it really easy to follow and understand the complexities
thank you for the content
It was a fun watch! Good atmosphere, healthy rolemodel for the community
This is a brilliant way to show how to play the game. I know you've already done some how to videos, but this is the best one as it's with newbies like me. So easier to understand
This was a great video! Really loved seeing new players learn in real time from veterans. Also always love having James and Stephen on the channel.
That was really fun to watch, loved the coaching!
I dig the Lorna Shore merch. Great vid, btw.
Calling the WAAAGH while wearing a Lorna Shore hoodie is a different level of metal
Pointing out that sportsmanship and having fun are the most important parts of that hobby. Moments like this is what makes your videos so awesome. They're entertaining, educating and just a blast to watch while painting. All of your staff, crew and players are absolute heroes. Paired with Mr. Box, this combo is f*ing fantastic!
Love your videos and content, they bring so much fun and enjoyment for a lot of people i guess, well, at least for me :D
keep up that good work!
Great game. Much love
The coaching was awesome! Nice to see the small tips here and there, and the overall tone and mood was great
Really enjoyed this! Fun and learning woooot!
In the game of life, either you're krumpin' or the one gettin' krump'd.
Is the sportsmanship like this normal? Everyone is giving high fives and excited even when losing their own guys. For a grim dark sci-fi fantasy genre the players are very cool.
I LOVE the coaching aspect of this, keep doing these and you will have a fan for LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the combat patrol games. Please keep them coming
Is it just me or does Ben always rep the best bands
I need more newer players with coaches videos. Learned a hope bunch more in this video. As always, only the best quality 40k content from play on! You guys rock
This is really an awesome episode!
The general energi and vibe is really fun to watch.
Very cool, always fun to see newbies learn! GG!
This is great I was thinking about picking up the DA combat patrol and the Lion from the local store.
Love the “coaching” batrep, definitely more of these!
playing orks with a lorna shore hoodie this guy gets it
This was a great watch, especially for a new player like me who is painting up the Dark Angel combat patrol.
Great game, awesome to see Steve back too
So happy to see the Dark Angels on the table. By far my favorite chapter and totally no secretly traitors.
This is a great watch! Well done guys!
Love all the special effects on orks
Man that Waaaaaaghh!! was so powerful that the world shook! XD
If I don’t hear a Will Ramos-esque WAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH during this, I will be sad
I tried my best. But I’m no Will
Wow, I didn't expect such a close and interesting game out of a "tutorial match". Nice video!
This was great , new rules clearly explained in a fun game , and I just wish I could paint and produce minis like these.
Orks played their hearts out!!
This is a fun idea and format, I really enjoyed this, now I want to see Mr. Initiative play against Stephen. A true Warboss vs. a true tactical Primarch!
That was a slobber knocker for a first game ever for folks, fun times!
This is hilarious... My sons are Ben (17) and Owen (15). Owen is the only one who plays but still... lol
Another awesome battle report as always!!
Didn't expect newbiews match to be this fun! really great show!
Love the Pain Remains hoodie Ben!
Enjoyed this game. Loved the coaches and players.
0:38 Thanks for adding that warning, editor. It is appreciated.
Owen’s the best! Keep him around in front and behind the cameras!
Loving the combat patrol content! Would love to see the new Necron one with the Doomstalker in action.
This was awesome! More combat patrol, I'm trying to learn too!
There is just something about Ork players. Used to play Orks with another guy in Epic some 25 years ago. It was mental.
What a fun game! Owen and Ben were great!
YEAAAAH! Stephen Box shows the orks how the game shall be played
Coptas are really badass! Fabulous looking minis!
Ben is hilarious, great job
That waagh hit extra hard when popping mid-late game.
Wish I had the eldar patrol box and could play a game like this love everything you all do
I even let nick teach me lol
Love this! :D
Absolutely love Ben's Lorna Shore Hoodie
Considering i started on the tail end of 9th edition i gotta say im glad GW toned down the rule-sets a bit...cant tell you how many times i left my matches literally tired from all the information i had to process and all the D6 rolls i had to make while having to remember what abilities i could use...also, just picked up a data-sheet card pack which i 100% recommend for first timers just for ease of access to information. Great game guys!
Lorna Shore shreds. Dark angels look amazing. Cool to see these combat patrols.
"Gork, Mork, Whoever's listening... Uh, Hi"
Let's face it, Orks have probably just tried to chat with them before
Great game! It was fun to watch!
love to see a learning game.
Can’t wait to see the custodies combat patrol game
Ben has a great presence and am excited to follow his Ork journey. It's rare that a 40k noob picks the perfect faction fit so early in the hobby!
Letting us noobs watch coaches teach others during a game was a brilliant way to teach us in a still-exciting game. Thank you!
I absolutely love that ork paint job.
Hey, Team. Wishing you well
YYYAAAASSSSS!!! MORE BEN!!!
I would love more games like this!!
This was GOLD
LORNA SHORE SHOUTOUT. That takes me back. :) waagh.
Im real sad :(. I live in calgary and was at Gamescon when you guys were here but i didnt know you were coming and left before you guys showed up :,(. I legit later in the day saw your post on social media at the Bmo center where i walked past like 2 hours later. I love your videos and hope to try and play a game like this soon :). Play On !!!!
