Snap Camera is DEAD, Or is it? There is a way you can still install snap camera and keep using it if you already have it. And its just like it was before! No blank images or issues at all. The community to the rescue again!
I show you how to do it today.

If it does not work just delete the exe.old (if it does not let you delete it, end the Snap Camera task from task manager and it works). For me it worked this way!

Thank you for this! I watched another video a while ago for when they stopped doing Snapcam but they kept resetting it and I was losing my filters constantly. This video was straight forward, super easy to follow and had all the information needed for it to work ^_^
How to do this on Mac ?
But it will only work if u already had favorites before installing this? I just got it and have no favorites so not sure if I can even get it to work
@@Pentaclown84 Nope. I didn't have favouritrs added, I just searched the names of the ones I used and re-added to my favourite list :)

I guess it no longer works - it is blank, and tries to load - but never does. ...so sad...
Whew thanks Michael for this one SnapCam remains one of my FAVORITE things to use when I pop my cam on in streams. It was such a great program. So at least I can now favorite a ton more stuff! This is awesome.

I downloaded the app just yesterday and a note popped out. Luckily, I came across your video the next day. I reopened my Snap Camera, and according to your tutorial, there should be a keyboard icon at the top right. Unfortunately, it seems that it has been removed. I'm looking forward to you finding an app with the same function to replace Snap Camera.
Even after patching it, it still sits at the same page (opened new patched file) with everything blanked out, when i click the star it just says "tap the star to favorite lenses" but nothing is clickable, and at the bottom of the cam screen there's a swirling thinking icon.. not sure what to do or if i did something wrong.

all the links I downloaded when the file is dragged into virus total are all popping up as trojans.

As of July 2024 it still works thanks Michael! Guys, you just have to follow exactly the same as what Michael said. I first did slightly different (by renaming the original to instead of ... so it didn't work!!! So I then uninstalled everything and redo the whole thing again followed exactly the same as this video

is there a place to grab lenses if you weren't using Snap Camera before?
Followed all of the steps, installed the patch, but no masks appeared--the favorites just brought up 6 blanks. No button for hotkeys either.

well.....am i the only one out there that didnt get the patch to work and show the lenses? In the bottom of the running app, it appears as if it is loading, but nothing ever loads. What am i missing?

Hey Michael, thanks for posting this tip. It is nice to be able to see the lens icons rather than all dark. Currently I am using another workaround given by a user on twitter where the program will work as long as it does not have internet access. I also backed up the folders which came in handy since one time I was using the program, I lost the lenses, but was able to successfully restore them with my folder backups. I am going to test out your method as I am always happy to find new lenses that I might have overlooked.
How were you able to restore them with your folder backups?

It was working just fine until about a week ago after following the original video and suddenly it stopped working so I’m looking for how to restore with the folder backups thank you!
I had the same problem - but how did you restore them? I have the lenses backed up but after six months of working fine, suddenly the lenses disappeared within the app - how can i restore them?

I was very grateful to find this video, but I fear that it's already stopped working. (I uninstalled and reinstalled Snap Camera 1.21 several times because I failed to top it from launching before patching the file.) Is this a "me" problem, or has it stopped working for others, too?

I had issues getting this to work, however, I watched the video on the patch website itself and THEN it worked! According to the vid on the patch website, you rename the patched file in the download folder itself to Snap Camera(just like in your Programs folder) to make both files identical in name. Then when you copy it over, it'll ask "The files have the same name! What do you wanna do?" basically and hit "Replace it". THEN it worked!!! I wouldn't have been able to even get it that far without your vid, though, Michael. Thank you!!
why would it matter if it replaces it or you manually put it there, its the same file
@@PuppetMasterdaath144 It's possible that with both the files there at the same time, the program could be confused. Then when opened, it would just use the newer exe file regardless of what you click on.
Some programs are just weird that way...

Followed all the steps and it still wouldn't work. However, I then watched the video on the patch page and followed the steps they showed instead and that seemed to do the trick. It works for me now! Basically, instead of renaming the old file, just rename the patched file and then copy and paste into the snap folder and hit yes to OVERWRITE the original. Watch the shorter video on the patch page if that doesn't make sense.

moved a little fast so had to slow it down in the speed to actually was happening, ended up trying it a second time and it worked out. names of the files were different in mine it didnt say" .exe", in my program files so i ended up having to rename it before copy an pasting the patch file into the program file-snapcam folder then changing the patch to .exe an old then closed it all down an bam worked so thank you thank you so as someone slow like me an things never turn out how anyone does it it ended up working out.thank you

the lens don't work anymore. I followed your tutorial.
I had an issue even before it shut down, where periodically my favorites would just be erased. Well today that finally happened to the one favorite I still had in there. Am I the only one who has that issue? It seems nobody has brought it up, everyone else seems to either keep their favorites forever or lose them when going to a different PC. This happened completely on the same PC, same installation. And it was a regular occurrence even before it shut down. It's like they were stored in a cache that was not safe from being cleared behind the scenes.
Is there any way to get new lenses, or is it what's on there and nothing more?

Installed it and the filters dont show. I'm not sure if this has to do with any Win updates or if the patch just stopped working.
I just installed it, it works well with obs on win 10.

Does anyone know how to enable snap camera in google chrome? I'm a MacOs user. I can't see snap camera anymore on the options since December 2023.
that's a problem with Mac OS. they changed how virtual cameras work. there are some fixes in apples community forums, but include using the command lines in recovery mode

if you open the app before patching it it will not work. that might be the problem, uninstall and install and patch again

This is a great vid but it only deals with PC installs... Do you have a video for us Mac users? Or are we out of luck with Snap Camera now?
Snapcamera doesn't recognize or takes input from the integrated camera in Win 11 for some reason.
I never had it installed before. Where do I get these "lenses"? When I open the patched app, I see "featured" and "community" lens menu text, but clicking the blank cards does nothing to the video image. EDIT: NEVERMIND! Rebooting the computer fixed it. IT WORKS. THANK YOU!!

i fixed filters, i got them back… but what about camera? There no options anymore in settings… no more choose your camera, no more camera resolution… i tried 10 ways to make it work, unfortunately it doesn’t 😢
lots of people are having the issue with the download thing being 1.20 when downloaded instead of the 1.21 shown in the video. think you can give us a fix to that or is that some issue that cant be fixed? people like me have that problem and we cant use snap camera.

I installed the file on my Mac. It opens and works but all of the filters are gray like you showed. When you click on yours it applies the lenses. Mine does nothing. Any advice on a mac?
