Good video, with one correction: there are actually two cup holders. The second one pops out of the dash. And you can replace the console one with a storage insert that comes with the car.
While I'm not the biggest fan of the Porsche 911, it never ceases to amaze me just how it continues to remain the only true rear-engine car on Earth,a remarkable achievement, considering that it's corporate, spiritual and technological cousin the Volkswagen Beetle moved it's engine to the front years ago. Been a 911 fan since I was a little kid but never drove one. I’m renting a convertible Carerra S in a couple weeks for 3 days and I’m unbelievably excited. I’ve barely even driven any sports car before
I got to drive one today for work. Absolutely stunning. I’m a Mercedes guy. I love my AMGs and I never imagined a porche could blow something out of the water like a 05 E55. Absolutely amazing. I want one now

What a beautiful car. And I love the dash. It’s the perfect mix of analog and digital. It’s just unfortunate the 911 has gotten so expensive. I’d love to own one someday, but if I’m ever fortunate enough to buy a decent example it will have to be older and with some miles.
John ( I'm the old guy with the Miata) my son is in the market for a Porsche; your review sold him on the 992 with the manual. Excellent review, see you later.
Awesome... great video. I love the comments from people who just don't get it. A 911 isn't for everyone, some guys want a car that looks like a box, some don't.
I’m 38 years old and I have never touched a porshe in my life. I need to sit in an exotic car sometime. Maybe do that rental service thing. The time I tried to learn stick I didn’t do so good tho lol
Pedro You are the world’s largest troll. You have nothing to offer of substance. Everyone note that Pedro hits all the reviews on Porsche 911 and condemns them. He’ll just get in his old rusted out Camaro and pretend he’s looking good.
A Porsche is just a car! It depreciates and needs repairs and is very expensive to fix. Most people lease them to avoid this problem. So you’ll have lease payments exceeding g $1,000 a month. A 911 will be probably more like $1500. Great for high income types desire to have a great handling small low riding car. For most people a Miata or Mustang, Camaro or Challenger/Charger makes much more sense!
Joel Remland its all relative to your income or socio-economic status. Mustangs and Camaros do cost less than say a 911 but they in no way are comparable. Vetts on the other hand are expensive too, but worth it to some. In this capitalist society I say get what you want if you can really afford it
in the US we're so lucky because 150k can only get you a normal Porsche cayenne in china.. my friend bought one cayenne s with few options cost him 200k USD in china.
Nice video man, I just ordered mine in Jet Metallic black and specified it to my liking, I took delivery of my new Cayenne earlier this year, but this 911 is a dream I worked hard for and it finally came true, I cant wait for next May delivery.
the model shown is sport package..front and rear fascia w/ side skirts..this is an added $$$ option..not the standard look carrera ..but I like this look a lot!!
Raiti - You have an excellent knowledge of the 911. The line was taken off the chart and drawn across the wall all the way to the door and I would say the company has just about reached that point on the door on the calendar. The interior is very neat and well organized and looks good to the eye. Makes past interiors look dated and old. I will say this: I optioned and ordered, in Jan/Feb 2012 the very first 991, 911. I optioned the beige interior along with the Racing Yellow exterior paint, the first year for that paint without paying extra. Interestingly the various codes changed as the car was being built. Approximately one day prior to the completion of my 911, Dr. Ferdinand Alexander Porsche passed away. He was the designer of the 911. The very next day, the factory finished my Porsche and coded that. The car was then on its trip from Stuttgart to Beverly Hills, California and it arrived the day before Father's day and dealer prepped. The following day, Beverly Hills held its annual Rodeo Drive car show to which I went. After the show, my cousin and I went to the Beverly Hills Porsche dealer. Arriving and observing the car behind the main glass at the dealership was my Carrera. That is right, my 991 was nothing more than a standard Carrera. However it was loaded with leather interior and 18 way adaptive power seats, PDK with all of the handling mods one could obtain in a standard Carrera including factory wheel spacers. 20" Carrera silver painted wheels with Pirrelli P-Zeros. Sun roof. Bose upgraded stereo system. My steering wheel had on it unusual thumb shifters only offered for a short period of time. These change the gear manually whether in manual or not and each of these shifters are not F-1 type, but they are each able to both shift up and down, on both sides of the steering wheel, and additionally the gear lever can also do the shifting manual by moving the lever to the left of its normal position. Heated and ventilated seats ordered. No other items or buttons on the steering wheel. My nearly 8 year old Porsche 991 still drives extremely well and it is extremely satisfying. 350 horsepower is small by today's standards, yet the car then still had a top speed of 178 miles per hour. The car also has launch control built in for use after the car is up to full operating temperature. The gas mileage is shown rated at 28 highway and 21 city. On the Highway on a couple of road trips of better than 300 miles each way, my Carrera returned about 30.3 miles per gallon. The in town driving ranges from around 19-23 mpg, depending upon how I drive the car. The first year, I put a cat-back exhaust on the car and then nothing until this year when I put new air filters of the K & N type and also an aluminum IPD plenum on the intake replacing the Porsche factory plenum. It dissipates heat better and has better air flow characteristics that the stock Porsche plenum. That's it thus far, although I'm thinking of obtaining a tuner for the car that is of the plug and play type. I still love the car when I get in it and drive it and I'm not wishing for a new 992, despite the fact that those cars are tremendous. My car when new nearly reached 118,000 before getting out the door with options. These days, with similar options, one might pay about 143,000, although it would have all those upgrades including the rear wheel steering. That feature makes the car more nimble and saves tires a bit. All in all, I likely will never buy another Porsche. But then this one is good enough. Anyone who can find a used 991 Porsche, as long as it was well-maintained will be getting a bargain. As great as all the cars on offer today are, of course, only one gets this American's attention: the C8 Corvette.
Picked up a 2020 911S in Silver w red interior with black wheels. Its my first Porsche but won’t be my last. I’m hooked. Amazing car. Thx for the video.
Nice video. My 2 cents are the following: I am not a fan of the fact that you have to press a button on the fob key to open the door. You should be a proximity fob key like most modern vehicles. Also, I think it should be a push button start. Sure, have it on the left side but just push a start button. I'm not a fan of the analog dash in front of the driver, but I could live with it as the centre console screen is nice. Again, nice video. Thanks for posting.
That is frikken awesome for 2020. Love those wheels. Love the 911. My favourite brand. Had the privilege of track driving the GT3, a few years back. Thanks Joe for this awesome review!! Big up to Tom for his tireless camera work!!
I just took delivery of a 2023 Carrera S, manual - put an aerokit on it. I've had a dozen 911s this one I would describe as a luxury sports car. Very smooth, nimble and quick. Very imposing looking too. As for the lights, they never need to be turned on - they come on automatically and the brights also come on when needed.
Yeah, but you can’t drive your home 191 miles an hour. You get the 992 and all you need is a garage; screw a crazy ole house. Almost everyone has a house!
You need to let people know the car has the upgraded sport front and rear and sides - $5000 plus option. Also the colored wheel caps are a $180 option and those wheels are a $4000 plus upgrade as well. Interior is the full leather upgrade - $4500 extra. Sport exhaust as well is an upgrade - get the original window sticker/ when Reving motor- try putting it in sport plus so the exhaust sounds deeper and in sport mode you get the engine backfires. It is called Bordeaux red by the way- not cherry red.the dash timer gauge says that it has the chrono package - more money- gives you the extra driving modes and importantly - launch control - that lets you step on the pedal and let up on the brake and off you go at warp speed! Also a button in the center of the little knob- push it and you get 20 seconds of full speed.
Lol! The armrest is as hard as a rock and can not zonk it because it is a Porsche 911! Love it Joe. Beautiful exterior interior color combination. Closes to a perfect car I have seen yet! If I had $$$ thus color combination but with a manual no doubt. The only way to go in a Porsche.
Truth be told. The ignition switch on the left is there when Porsche was a small manufacture they needed to save money. Less wiring that’s it. As with all Porsche’s nothing changes it stays on the left. Oh yeah there’s a cup holder for the passenger in the old spot on the right side of the dash. Good review.
Not going to dispute that it was the original reason but the reason it remains there is because back in the day when Porsche was racing and the drivers ran to the car to start the races having the switch on the left was strategic......
No, the shorter wire is not the reason. The fact that race drivers could put the car in gear (with their right hand) while starting it with their left is what Porsche says.
A mid engine car puts the weight of the engine over the front and rear wheels which would make for a heavy steering feel. Having the engine over the rear axle creates a counterbalance which would lighten the front end while in motion which would make for quick and precise steering.
I disagree, the mid-engine car has much better balance, its basic physics. The weight centered and lowered creates this optimum balance. Porsche will not but the same engine in the Cayman thats in the 911, they know the little brother will beat the iconic big brother around the Neubering
I love the 992 for everything except for the exhaust note compares to the 991 and 991.2. The GPF really screwed up that raw sound by muffling the exhaust more.
$43,000 in options... That's more than 1/3 the cost of the base 911 S. Porsche just absolutely kills you in options to the point where it's just laughable. You could buy a base 911 S and a whole other car for when the weathers bad... and a nice one at that!
All Japanese automakers (especially Nissan) need to go back to school. They're miserably falling behind Germans with their turbo charged semi-trucks, military tanks & soccer mom-sized "sports cars"...
Can you please post a 2nd video of the 992 in “Sport” mode and PSE activated so we can hear all the beautiful pops, crackles, and burbles?! Once again, it will only be heard in “Sport” mode. I’m surprised no one yet has posted a US spec 992 with the exhaust valves open and in Sport mode. I imagine the crackles and pops are music to the ears! Great review!
Please - you can bluetooth from your phone all the music you want - and without any wires from your phone and also does Apple CarPlay which also lets you select any type of music. Who needs cd’s bouncing all around the cabin any longer. Technology moves on -/ and you save $1500 on that stupid clunky cd changer in the trunk that always would jam.
I am considering getting the basic model (non S). Is it still as fun as the S version being down in both power and torque? What is the 911 992 like compare to a facelift W205 C63s 2019 model? Its going to be my daily fyi. Cheers!
Drove a 992 yesterday at the local dealer, almost traded my Cayman in for it. If you are in the market and on the fence about getting, drive it, you will really want to get it!

Compared to other sports cars 911s are usually pretty reliable. There have been bad years, but overall 911s are usually solid. There is a reason why there are so many on the road.
I was 17 years old in 1989 and a passanger in a 911. I haven't stopped smiling for 34 years 😁
That is so awesome Simon! Thanks for sharing that!

@Gunnar Fabian Thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I really appreciate it !

This is a really nice spec! Would goldwheels work with this chalk colour...?
I totally think so!
Look up Nick Murray's review of the 992 for reference. He's got a white or chalk one with gold wheels. Looks sweet!
Thanks for letting me share the laughs with you! I appreciate your great input!
“Row thru gears, just like I row my own boat” 😆 commentary on point 👌🏽
joe for president!
Ken Kozawa 😆🙌🏽
Truth be told. The ignition switch on the left is there when Porsche was a small manufacture they needed to save money. Less wiring that’s it. As with all Porsche’s nothing changes it stays on the left. Oh yeah there’s a cup holder for the passenger in the old spot on the right side of the dash. Good review.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
No zonk for the hard armrest in $150k car?! 🤔👎🏾 Still a great car but keep your zonk standards. 👍🏾
Because you can get it with leather too. You can pretty much customize and add leather or Alcantara to any part of the interior but it costs more
A mid engine car puts the weight of the engine over the front and rear wheels which would make for a heavy steering feel.
They are nice looking cars...
You are so very right!
So good. Porche paint is a thing of beauty.
Porsche 911's are the best. Hopefully one day you can get one!
I would love to!
I love the 992 for everything except for the exhaust note compares to the 991 and 991.2. The GPF really screwed up that raw sound by muffling the exhaust more.
Sb1 I have 7,300 (s)miles. On my 992 C4S. The car in Sport Mode sounds crazy good!
$43,000 in options... That's more than 1/3 the cost of the base 911 S. Porsche just absolutely kills you in options to the point where it's just laughable. You could buy a base 911 S and a whole other car for when the weathers bad... and a nice one at that!
Moflow I totally agree with you.
I'm at $56K in options on a 4S... this is a VERY. customizable car... period
So Raiti, if you had to choose, would you go for the 992 Carrera S or AMG GTC?
All Japanese automakers (especially Nissan) need to go back to school. They're miserably falling behind Germans with their turbo charged semi-trucks, military tanks & soccer mom-sized "sports cars"...
That would be really wonderful.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I appreciate you watching!
ENDLESS MONEY PIT! BUY A CELICA INSTEAD!
I'm so sick and tired of Scotty Kilmer.
Who needs a brand new twin-turbo Porsche when you can have a Celica with 240,000 miles!?
LMAO.
Scotty is a nut.
Seeing a '94 Celica parked in your driveway is all the excitement you'll ever need!
On euro models the rear licence plate is on the black part of the bumper therefore not spoiling the lines of the swooping back like US spec models.
Thanks for that info Paul!
What? For $156K, no CD player included? This is outrageous.
I feel your pain.
Who uses cds in 2020?😂 they're not going to include something only like 1 percent of people still use lol.
Are you able to add the Porsche wing to this from the dealership?
Once I have the winning lotto ticket this will be my next car! Great review, Joe!
I am considering getting the basic model (non S). Is it still as fun as the S version being down in both power and torque? What is the 911 992 like compare to a facelift W205 C63s 2019 model? Its going to be my daily fyi. Cheers!
You bet it still is Winnie! Because day the end of the day it's a Porsche.
Awesome review as always! Enjoy your weekend brother! Blessings and Peace!
I'm actually thinking of buying one around the end of June! Pretty excited 🙏
Drove a 992 yesterday at the local dealer, almost traded my Cayman in for it. If you are in the market and on the fence about getting, drive it, you will really want to get it!
@@williamjackson5357 I’m getting a 2020 781 Base Cayman in 1 1/2 years but gosh I would love to own the 911 one day. Albeit Cayman does look better to me
You don't have to be rich to buy one of these. You have to be rich to own one out of warranty
Edward Cramm so very true
Dam!
Compared to other sports cars 911s are usually pretty reliable. There have been bad years, but overall 911s are usually solid. There is a reason why there are so many on the road.
Ugh why the soft limiter on the exhaust? It sounds so good without it
love the double drive cam.
love the inside jokes.
As a car guy.
This is the best review period.
Will the manual cost more or less?
I love Porsche 😍
So do I!
I'm 36 years old and I love to have a 1966 Porsche manual shift seen a video of a 1966 even today that car sounds beautiful shift those gears
I totally agree with you Anthony.
I like it even more after watching the review! I like the color combination. I bowl on Friday nights and get home late. Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
L S what’s your average? I’m glad you loved this 911.
Raiti's Rides For the three weeks so far it’s 172. Should be around 180. I had a 537 tonight which is 179 avg. 👍🏻
I just bought the the gt2rs it’s the best hands down the traction is great and it’s a daily driver
I’m worried I can’t drive every day.
Joe, after driving a car like this one are you still able to enjoy your Subaru?
SteveRunciman yes because they have totally different personalities plus my payment is less. 😉
I am tracking prices on 2018 GT3 Touring with M6. Slowly falling. 500 HP NA motor.
That is a very interesting.
Joe PLEASE get your hands on a 2020 Civic Si🙏🙏
As soon as they hit Tampa Honda I will be all over it!
Is the steering wheel adjustable?
Yes of course!
