Wetherspoons are really good at pizzas and burgers, they should concentrate on the festive version of those. The roast is ok, but a little bland when I had it last year. They have introduced some new cocktails to the Christmas menu this year!!

It would be interesting to see what a Wetherspoon's kitchen looks like and how the food is actually prepared and cooked. It all looked pretty decent though but how you managed to eat two full meals in one afternoon is beyond me!
Apparently, if one reads the words on a bottle, the Rev. James Buckley was a real minister of religion from the Llanelli region who was the creator of the Buckley Breweries subsequently acquired by Brains Brewery in Cardiff. It really is a fine ale not that frequent in most pubs (other than Spoons) and I typically get one from a local supermarket in a bottle. Leffe is another fine, typical Belgian lager, beer but surely mixing the two on the same day ? As for the grub it is Spoons so will most def. not be Gordon Blurr (pun intended). Not sure if they are actually open on Xmas day but if they are then expect the prices to rise.

It is what it is .... The first one looked like a large portion of astronaut food .. It's not good, but it's not terrible either ... 3 is reasonable enough. Good video ... but the drinks look better than the food 🍻
My best childhood holidays were at Weymouth. Hope you had a good visit around. Wished you could go review the smugglers Inn if still there lol. Food looks pretty decent for a weatherspoons compared to up here round my end (Wednesbury, West Bromwich 😢) weatherspoons. You get served with a sharp thing in your back from another customer 😂.

‘Wild Horses’ & ‘Dragged Screaming’ instantly flashed into my head when I saw Wetherspoons in the title! 😑 ‘not great’ is me being polite - No roasties no Brussels nothing you did get was roasted full stop & cranberry & apricot stuffing!? Yuk. The burger looked unappetising - Unmelted Brie slices slapped on top of a dry bit of chicken Brie & Chicken??! Random 2 Halloumi fries?? Totally unnecessary & no dressing in the burger - Generic chips (probably best thing there with a bit of TK !) Not festive in the slightest either 2/10 You were fair & reviewed both fairly Look forward to the next one Tysm G ☺️
Not a patch on the festive treats we will have at Greeno Towers - glad you enjoyed the video in spite of your stong views on Spoons (mine aren't that dissimilar generally)
You could get a midweek large Toby Carvery with extra meat, yorkshire and pigs in blankets...plus roasties, large selection of veg and a drink for not much more than that. It is a bit of a rip off to be honest.
If it wasn’t for the processed sandwich turkey I’d say both meals were fair for the price and a pint - can’t go wrong! 👏 Other places have also used that meat and you don’t get the pint. “It is what it is” 🤷♀️ The burger should have been chicken, stuffing and cranberry jam with melted Brie on top - now that’s a Christmas burger! 😋 I think overall average but for the price it’s fine. 👍
No mash please! Not on a roast especially a Christmas menu surely! Probably because as a family we don’t do mash on roasts only with sausages and the like . Thanks Greeno you’re great 👍🏻
really its more like an aldi sliced meat. but last year there was a number of videos that were all negative. when you look at the price of the beer. you really see how much the food is. but it is a full piece of chicken breast and thats not a cheap thing to buy for the cost greene kings have a christmas diner and can get starters better than your fav Denny meal
The first meal looked so yummy but I would of definitely had roasties instead of mash. Your chicken burger is for sure a chicken burger! I cannot wait till Christmas lunch, most of the menu items are cold. Hi to all the fam xx
Unlike most pubs and restaurants, Wetherspoon do not use microwaves, that is a myth. Most of the foods is prepared and cooked in their kitchens apart from curry and certain other dishes which are heated up in ovens.
For the money, no complaints. Spoons doesn't pretend to be anything but a cheap eaterie for those who are not rolling in cash but detest fast food outlets. I like it - end of.

Good beer, Wetherspoons food. I know you have review Wetherspoons because of viewer demand, I wish you didn't have to because......Wetherspoons. The Christmas dinner struck me as fairly expensive for barely adequate food. Great review.
Had a similar burger in Beefeater today, my step-daughter had a 50% off voucher, so the family came. Nearly £17 they charge normally without a beer, so only had it because of the 50% off. I like real cheese on a burger/roll, so I think I would of preferred what you had. Certainly a beer makes it value for money for what the food is, I suppose. I dislike re-cycled meats, so the first meal would of been a no no!
Beefeater is a brand that confuses me - seem to want t pitch themselves as a level up from the likes of Harvester for example - and charge accordingly, but very rarely seem to deliver!
@@GreenoEats Very true! Only go there because my Mrs likes their lasagne on the £8 menu! I usually have the fish & chips! Hi Greeno. Wetherspoons mystery diner here. Most meals are microwavable except anything grilled or pizza which are cooked in a pizza oven. Not a great fan of the Christmas meal myself tbh. The seasonal burgers are better. You are right check backs are meant to happen but often don't. Drinks are meant to be served in 3 minutes from order and served in a branded glass.
Ah, we have a man on the inside now! Thanks for the info. I did suspect that almost everything is microwaved where possible. Interesting about the turnaround on the drinks - I did think they were very sharp in getting them out.

It is what it is .... The first one looked like a large portion of astronaut food .. It's not good, but it's not terrible either ... 3 is reasonable enough. Good video ... but the drinks look better than the food 🍻
Agreed, the drinks were the best part of it.... hic :-)
Thank you Greeno, not bad but prefer roasties with that kind of dinner!! Greetings from a cold and wet Cyprus. I would have eaten it though! 🤗🤗
I don't mind a bit of mash on a roast dinner, but only in addition to roastie, not as a replacement!
@@GreenoEats Agreed
Another great video! 👌
@@DeeDeeH20 thank you!
Roasted potatoes needed 😊
Amen to that
Well done copy with the locals. Also that Greggs pastry bake you were sitting on looked delicious !!!
Haha - that bench did have a Gregg's pasty look to it didn't it!
I’ve driven that train you’re sat on more than you’ve had hot dinners Greeno! 😂 Excellent review again mate 🫡
Is that so - so you're the reason I am late everywhere huh hahaha :-)
@@GreenoEats ah… walked right into that one didn’t I !!
@@Dolan-81 you did indeed haha 🙂 Only kidding!
I know The Smugglers very well - in my teenage years we lived in Osmington for a spell - not been in for a while though - it's just a chain pub now.
Great review Greeno. Yeah shame to hear smugglers is now another chain pub though. You did well both spoons and trains in a day. Respect to you 👍🏻.
Burger and chips looked good i was in tday would a ordered iff i a known ...prem8 lager too for 14 pound decent value ....had a couple a pints a new lager just on a spoons pieretti absalutely gorguss and a monday club prices 3,20 carnt go wrong ,,and glass comes in is lovely ,,,,,,,just admiring it on my table at home now😊
@@elky1883 Pinching the glass, tut tut, you’ll be on Santa’s naughty list!
Outstanding beer choices Greeno, did you rob the Leffe glass ? Asking for a friend 😊
Haha - as a former publican I would never pinch the glasses!!
"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" - Greeno at Wetherspoons.......!!
"Just leave your pricinples at the door Greeno" haha
Where are the roasties?
That's a good question!!!
They don't microwave to well😆
@@GreenoEats That's what I thought. I would have preferred roasties and no mash. Shame you don't get a choice.
Spoons food is ok not fantastic but can’t complain price is good beer prices good breakfast is good and free refills for coffee
For the price point it's fair enough, and the beer is generally decent!
@8:37 that person really wanted to show you his Doobie he's going to smoke 🤣💚💛❤️
Haha - I am sure it was just a regular roll-up :-)
How do you eat all that lot😮
@@davidmaughan708 By it beaing all I ate all day, having a break in between the two meals and a stroll down Weymouth beach
You could get a midweek large Toby Carvery with extra meat, yorkshire and pigs in blankets...plus roasties, large selection of veg and a drink for not much more than that. It is a bit of a rip off to be honest.
That is very true
Back in the day a Spoons roast was good but that's when they actually did roast potatoes and not bloody mash.
Rev James is a lovely pint btw
Worth going just for the Reverend James I reckon!!
Two Spoons in one day? I wouldn't even go to one. Yuk!
Left my principles at home for the day haha!
2 spoons in 1 decade is pushing it tbh
@@HelenBetts-j6w haha!!! mrs Greeno would be with you on that one (you will note she never comes to help film on a Spoons video!)
@@GreenoEats good lass
@@GreenoEats don't tell her the wallpaper is better in Spoons ;)
3 of 5 for both and did not notice mush difference.
Fair scores John!
@@GreenoEats Thank you.
If it wasn’t for the processed sandwich turkey I’d say both meals were fair for the price and a pint - can’t go wrong! 👏
Other places have also used that meat and you don’t get the pint. “It is what it is” 🤷♀️
The burger should have been chicken, stuffing and cranberry jam with melted Brie on top - now that’s a Christmas burger! 😋
I think overall average but for the price it’s fine. 👍
In fairnss the beers were probably the highlights!!
No mash please! Not on a roast especially a Christmas menu surely! Probably because as a family we don’t do mash on roasts only with sausages and the like . Thanks Greeno you’re great 👍🏻
I don't mind a little bit of mash on a roast, but in addition to roasties, not instead of!
Mash colli cheese roasties and yorkies never ever have a roast dinner without ..
@ 😂 good for you I will pass on the mash though 👍🏻
The whole sweatshirt, environment combo,is taking me to star wars bar!😂😂hope you manage to recruit han
Haha - Spoons is a bit like Mos Eisley - "a wretched hive of scum and villany" !!
@@GreenoEats😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
Beer looks lovely as did the food mate
The beers were the best part of both meals really
really its more like an aldi sliced meat.
but last year there was a number of videos that were all negative.
when you look at the price of the beer. you really see how much the food is.
but it is a full piece of chicken breast and thats not a cheap thing to buy
for the cost greene kings have a christmas diner and can get starters
better than your fav Denny meal
I'd eat this ahead of Denny's any day! I actually think they have improved that "roast" dinner since last year.
The first meal looked so yummy but I would of definitely had roasties instead of mash. Your chicken burger is for sure a chicken burger! I cannot wait till Christmas lunch, most of the menu items are cold. Hi to all the fam xx
Nothing I review in the run up to Christmas will come close to the Greeno Towers Christmas lunch - that's my prediction!
@ I am on an aeroplane for Christmas lunch lol
@@nicolesydneylife What? How come?
@ well it’s hot so normally we do cold meats, prawns / seafood and salads. On Christmas Eve though my dad makes a polish Christmas Eve.
Good review Greeno but for me, the Christmas dinner was lacking Roasties.
That's a very fair point!
Unlike most pubs and restaurants, Wetherspoon do not use microwaves, that is a myth. Most of the foods is prepared and cooked in their kitchens apart from curry and certain other dishes which are heated up in ovens.
Interesting, folk who have worked there are telling a different story!!
lots of Wetherspoons open on xmas day, for drink only, and for a short time.
Is that so? I hope the staff are well compensated for going in :-)
Burger looked like it needed a blast on the grill or something.🤔
It was a whole chicken breast - not even butterflied. Perhaps could have done with a little more charring to the outside
For the money, no complaints. Spoons doesn't pretend to be anything but a cheap eaterie for those who are not rolling in cash but detest fast food outlets. I like it - end of.
That's a very fair point and position to take!
Hi Greeno. Will you be doing your santa stint?😂 For the money the food in wetherspoons isnt that bad.
@@DavidCarrol-i2q I’ve been training all year to get the right physique!
@greenoeats you should review the three kings in Blandford forum such a nice place would love to see you review it
I will have a look and see what I think, thanks for the tip!
@ no problem keep up the good work I watch everytime u upload
The food looks good ❤
It was ok, not as good as the beer though haha!
Not into spoons personally mate as I have history with them and they are the killers of the traditional pub trade!
In which I worked in and loved it!
I have mentioned this in previous videos, I have similar thoughts to you (I've been in the pub game myself!)
@@GreenoEats I’ve seen mate we are on the same page for sure I miss the good ole days of smoking in pubs traditional ways and just the ambience we will never get those days back and it’s very sad 😢
Cheap and cheerful!!😮
That it is!
For the price i think spoons is pretty good, especially the breakfast....
If you have the right level of expectation then Spoons serves a purpose!
not bad the Newton Abbot spoon has changed a lot i had i quick look in its not nice now gaming machines right were they used to have Tables by the log Fire ☺️was very noisy did not like at all i never bothered i walked out
I guess they find their ways to maximise revenue...
I have quite a bit of catching up to do. Been adult sitting my sister whilst my nephew had a break. No You Tube at her house!!! Only BBC brainwash. Could have tried on my phone but too much interruption. The scenery was lovely there in Weymouth. Standard pub Christmas dinner but you wouldn't say no on a cold day. Bit of cranberry sauce on the brie and chicken burger would have been nice. Decent sized chicken breast though and it's a chicken 'wichburg' neither a sandwich or a burger. Yes, definitely amber. 👍
Nice that you are doing your bit to help out Denise - it's important for family to rally round in difficult times! More important than watching me prattle on certainly haha!
@@GreenoEats I am still stunned by the poached eggs and lava bread and cockle breakfast you had. See you on the next one. 👍

Never had a bad pint of ale in a spoons and great prices , wondered what happened to Bernard Mathews turkey roll ? 😂
I guess Spoons have them all
Yep they must have bought a job lot!
Two spoons in one day well done.
Takes some mental fortitude that!!
Disappointing they aren't doing roast potatoes.
They didn't last year either - don't know why!
Good beer, Wetherspoons food. I know you have review Wetherspoons because of viewer demand, I wish you didn't have to because......Wetherspoons. The Christmas dinner struck me as fairly expensive for barely adequate food. Great review.
The beer made up for it - hic!!
Had my free birthday steak last January, could of souled your shoe with the first sirloin they gave me, I then had the rib-eye that was edible, medium rare, but nothing to write home about!

An honest score and a nice day out my friend , I'd have pushed the boat out and tried to find a decent eatery on the Isle of Portland.....there must be one but we failed to find it.
I do have one place onPortland that I plan to visit which looks excellent, but they have very short opening hours this time of year, and I haven't managed to get there yet!
@@GreenoEats ...one to look forward to my friend as we love the island and plan to return next year.
How do you keep 😮yourself healthy having to eat that stuff all the time as a mystery diner? 😮
@@rosemarymee I don't get wetherspoons all the time. I might get offered 3 in a week then none for 6-8 weeks. I do five guys and nando's as well.
@@rosemarymee bear in mind you only see 3 or 4 meals a week that I am eating 🙂
