- A mural which pays tribute to Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis has been unveiled in Macclesfield - with the best man at his wedding, Kelvin Briggs, joining Peter Hook at the ribbon-cutting on Saturday.

Visited this lovely town in 2002. Want to come back next time with my son. Joy Division changed my life when I was 13 in the late 80's. My favorite band indeed. Love New Order but this band has a different special meaning to me.

I have no words, that´s so great, awesome, amazing ... Ian Curtis forever, tears shedding down the my face. I never forget the first time I heard Joy division from the old tape, it was like spine tingling along Atrocity Exhibition and then the whole LP Closer. It changed my life and I am so glad for it. Thank you for this art

I love Macclesfield, it's my home town! Love Joy Division and Hooky, but Macc is not a city mate. It's hardly a town!! Very proud of the artist who did this. He also did Marcus Rashford and Captain Tom.

Nice to see I.K. Briggs again. Happy days in Nobby Clark's Upper 5 Modern (3 underlinings). We used to call Ian "Hammy" because he wore a brown sports jacket, brown trousers and brown shoes and his cheeks were a bit puffed out! Somebody seems to have knocked our school down 😕

It should have been Winterton the disgraced MP who topped himself , not Ian Curtis.
The murals great. A sure would be absurd.
