I'm glad I caught your lesson. I was taught to play the opening riff a different way that sound close, but your way sounds spot on, and it's actually easier. Thanks for the lesson! Cheers!
I thought that same thing, but then i watched a video of motley playing girls girls girls at download fest 2015 and mick was playing that riff just like this
@@dylanalvarez3735 no i have watched videos of him playing this as well and he slides with 1 finger, this is wrong, all you have to do is listen to it, clearly sliding, other mistakes as well
Thanks, Your tone, feel, and instructions are great. This is one of the best tutorials I've ever viewed. Mick Mars is a bad ass. With all the Eddie, Randy, Yngwie, and Lynch clones, Mick is a true original. Hitting the subscribe button. I'm 54 and started playing in the early 1970's. It would have taken me months to learn this song, let alone pay someone with your knowledge to tech me the song. If you ever want to sell that awesome B.C. Rich, let me know. Glad you didn't fall off your chair like I heard Mick did on the descending outro lick. He just kept playing. Please cover some from Shout at the Devil. Bastard, Looks that Kill, title song.
Totally amazing! Best video lesson of an awesome song! No one teaches this better! Thank you! Heck, I totally like just watching you tear it up! Can't ever see playing it this good!!
I knew this video would be awesome and it is. Not only for the lesson / tutorial - but also verified by your poster in the background. Randy Rhoads. Oh man, can you imagine if he would have been around today? Thanks Mark. I will be putting my nose to the wheel on this one. Thank you again.
I thought that Mick Mars did the high notes using the open position just based on hearing. Now that I've seen your demo/lesson, that clears things up enormously. Thanks a ton!
Wicked great lesson, good job my man, well explained with great examples and very precise i think I got the whole thing in one watch. This song is so much fun to play on guitar, Mick Mars should get more recognition for his work, he truly is a riff master. Keep up the good job.
The demise of MANY great projects stems from attitudes and egos. I left this project SOME time ago. I'm glad you dug the show but that guitarist.... lolol, that wasn't me for sure :) Glad you liked the video!
Awesome!! IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE on getting MICK MARS' tone please could you help me out? EQ and gear recommendations. Baring in mind I'm 16 and don't have a ton of money
Thought I had my headphones on one morning not to long back started playing a riff(unchained)on eleven i was practising the night before....wasn't cool.
I know this is two years ago......but for anyone who else, motley plays all their songs one WHOLE step down. So your E is D. So instead of tuning EADGBE You tune DBEACD. The tuner doesn't need to be able to be set to do this, just tune your E to D, like you would drop D, then tune with harmonics like you normally would and your guitar will be a whole step down. 👍
Hey mark, the 4 bars after "have you read the news..." Is that the live version you show in this vid? It's different and more complex than the original and I enjoy it. Just interested in knowing.
sorry to all the clueless people in the comments here but this is wrong in several spots, just listen to it, or even better watch a video of mick actually playing it, don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with putting your own spin on something or cheating to make it easier but this is wrong in spots
"That's the whole reason we guitar to begin with" So true on so many levels
unless your a musician then you play for the feeling of being on stage
Not really. In play for myself
I'm glad I caught your lesson. I was taught to play the opening riff a different way that sound close, but your way sounds spot on, and it's actually easier. Thanks for the lesson! Cheers!
never seen the main riff played like that..good lesson
I thought that same thing, but then i watched a video of motley playing girls girls girls at download fest 2015 and mick was playing that riff just like this
I learned in a different manner, so now it's really hard to adapt.
yeh a lot of the times when they play in the studio and on stage they will play songs different makes it easier when moving around on stage,,

Watch mic on ernie ball sting theory
Thanks man. I'm blazing through so many new tunes I've never learned for a new project - this speeds things up greatly.
I was here 9 years ago. And here I am again!

Thanks for this - 8 years late. Awesome job and a unique approach.
Thank you so much, I love Motley Crue, especially that song. Love the way you play each part.

Thank you for posting this. It helped me out a whole lot.
Thanks, great lesson. Cool guitar and I love your poster in the background 🤘😈🤘

Been wanting to learn that tune since i was 14.i m 46 .thanx!
I was taught to play this with power cords witch sounds more like it but this way is much easier and sounds pretty close to the actual thing
It’s actually really a combo of both. Slide up and back down between 5 and 7 on A & D the power cord from 2 & 3 on E & A
I just watched one of your concerts on you tube before when you,se played in Alabama , Awesome work .
Wicked Randy Tribute poster in the background
Got to see u guys when u came to uniontown PA few months ago. Great job. Enjoyed the night. Come back sometime

Quality video Mark 🤘🏻
👏🏾👍🏾 muy buen cover!! Muy buena lección !!
This is the one! Best video of his riff!
Played all wrong and more difficult lol
He played it wrong btw dude, he must have tried to figure it out on his own, this doesn’t sound right at sll
I love motley crue
Even though I never thought of playing Crüe songs I would’ve of always thought their songs were standard tuning
Awesome Mark, thanks for the work man..
Thanks for very good lesson
Where do u play in the Detroit area?
Thanks for the lesson brother that’s awesome of you for sharing 👍
Very good lesson
Ty 🤟
Thanks man, great lesson
You are the best.
I’ve met the wrecking cure tech at road rangers Taylor mi
Great video by the way
Thank you for the lesson!
Thought I had my headphones on one morning not to long back started playing a riff(unchained)on eleven i was practising the night before....wasn't cool.
Excelente mi viejo gracias !!!!
Side note, I love your fucking BC Rich Warlock
Is there any way to play this with standard because i dont have any tuners that tune to Flat

Download guitartuna app
Hi, so on the main riff your hitting the b and e string once then Em then b and e again? That's part is a little confusing
Or is it Em b and e together the palm mute the b and e again
Hey mark, the 4 bars after "have you read the news..." Is that the live version you show in this vid? It's different and more complex than the original and I enjoy it. Just interested in knowing.
Do you recommend a 24 fret guitar for this instead of a 22?
you only need 22 frets
@@niklasjanen3563 ok thanks!
doesn't mick mars use fifth instead of fourths?
Michigan native nice 👍
Love it
Yada yada yada
nice !!!!!
kick ass!!
Name of guitar???
B.C. Rich Warlock
looks like a BC Rich Warlock
I was like, just start play dammit!!! ;D
Nope - you're playing the main riff wrong
Boom, i was the last like to get 1.2k ;-;
sorry to all the clueless people in the comments here but this is wrong in several spots, just listen to it, or even better watch a video of mick actually playing it, don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with putting your own spin on something or cheating to make it easier but this is wrong in spots
This is just another way to play it dude, just relax..
Exactly...thats what i was thinking.....i'd want it to be exact as Micks...
I guess people aren't picky. I like to listen to instruments that are in tune. Isn't that step one?
You played it wrong
That was wrong.
ワーロックくれ?いいじゃん!
U play it wrong
Am I the only one that thinks this sounds all wrong???
Paul Sayce He’s definitely out of tune
Definitely. Main riff doesn’t consist of pull offs and it just doesn’t sound right
@@RideTheSeason97 then put your lesson up smart-ass....
Main riff way off dude.
way to teach people nothing 👎🏼 this was incorrect from the start bud
playing so wrong
If you watch live videos you will see he slide between 5th fret and 7th fret in the main theme...
