      Thanks Rod! I appreciate it. He really was overlooked. He had some great riffs and was so important to their sound! He’s a cool dude too!!

      Do you do any older Van Hallen? Curious if you throw up a how to on unchained? I always have some issues with that song during the part of the song when they’re talking about fat city address. Know what I’m talking about? 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

    Oh that was good! I've always loved that ending lick on girls where Mick does the hammers on/off and walks it up the neck. Then in the Video they cruz off on their bikes. So epic. Funny story: In the early 90's I had a guitar teacher and wanted to learn Motley Crue songs so bad. But my teacher was a death metal fan and he told me NO! "You're going to learn Cowboys from hell by Pantera!!" I hated it back then but once I knew the song I loved it and became a Pantera fan. Always loved Motley too. I have tickets to the stadium tour in September when they come to Las Vegas. Thanks for the guitar lesson Marty.

    Always dug this tune. Thanks for the lesson. I'm still working through learning Unchained.
    Got most of the chords and other parts, just chunking along. Hope to play the whole thing at speed one day soon. Then I have to segue to this!
    Maybe do a separate video on setting up a strat or LP for 80s sound? 10s on top 3, 9s bottom 3 and amp selection?
    I have first edition Peavey Vypr modeling amp, and it ofcourse features the 6505 setting which is why I got it. Entry level Ed setup, I thought.
    Thanks Marty!

    Awesome one of my favorite albums and their best albums of all time it's really a shame they don't play this way anymore but I'm glad to say I was alive and was old enough to know how special this album was when it came out in my humble opinion the best three albums motley Crue ever produced was shout at the devil, girls girls girls, and of course there is a mess Dr feelgood which ended up taking the band down roads that they and the fans wish they'd never went true fans of motley Crue all of us can totally agree that the band's not motley without Vince, and Nikki sixx's own words were even he should have changed the name of the band when he fired Vince Neil, those were some brutal times for Vince, even though he got signed for a massive massive deal going solo, but ran through all the money fast because unfortunately his daughter fell ill and passed, advanced trying to balance a marriage with his daughter and his career was nearly impossible, but what shocked me was how close Tommy and Vince were it was like Tommy turned on Vince and even made fun of him when his daughter died I can remember interviews from MTV and you know a bunch of us had bangers and guitar players will be sitting around the room looking at each other like you know Tommy's a real dick, I mean there's making fun of this surfboarding incident they didn't make fun of the daughter thing I don't think cuz that would have turned everybody against motley Crue motley Crue would be the most hated man in history if they'd make fun of vest during that time period plus I don't think Nikki six would have been having it at all cuz one thing about Nikki even if he's mad at someone he does look at things in the human nature where Tommy does not and Mick Mars even came out and was like we made a terrible mistake and he said when we brought Vince back in it sounded like motley Crue again, they love playing with Joe and this is not a Sly on Joe at all, hell I like Joe carabi more than most but I will say this he was never motley Crue, when Joe carabi joined motley Crue if sounded like a dirty messed up version of rat to me and a lot of other people that we used to sit around and jam some of the songs like hooligans day and all that, but I I'm still just thinking back on that time I was in such shock of how Tommy Lee just turned viper on Vince Neil out of the blue and stabbed him in the back knowing what was coming down and never gave Vance a heads up I mean these guys went to school together they hung together they were best friends they were best buds they went to the same school they hung out with the same people Tommy's in Old interviews talking about how much he idolized events because Vince just always had the girls around him, but then he was the first one that slapped him in the back and I think that Nikki balancing things out you know Superstar drummer doing some real whacked out s*** on the drums, or lead singer that is showing up to work later and later having a lot of personal issues at the time who do how do we handle this and the answer was cutlers what's new best deal went on to make several mistakes laughably in his life such as the time he bought a Ferrari and wrote a bad check for it in cash I would love to have been there to seen that arrest, so to me the real bad boy drunk sober or whatever of motley Crue was always Vince Neil and or Nikki sixx with Mick marsanto Tommy Lee was the whiny cry baby I mean he's already cry baby in about this tour that they're on now and the only thing its Vince just all the time and I know people out west I have been in the industry since I have been about 16 years old and I know people a lot of people and they told me that sounds really good he straightened his act up he uses a teleprompter now, big deal big s*** oh wow so does Ozzy sodas even the lip sinkers that all these people cheer for like beyoncé all let's say Janet Jackson let's see here who else can I Milly vanilli we remember them but eventually sings his own s*** with her he f**** it up or not, he's gotten older and he's killed so many brain cells he's got to use a teleprompter now I mean it sucks getting old it does but I find myself even messing up lines to old songs from motley Crue and you're talking to the one of the guys who got his hands on showered at the devil about 6 weeks before it's released even so yeah I know people in the industry and I was jamming that s*** out when everybody else was listening to Toto LOL wish they're good too but they're not about the crew and it'd be hard to come up with another motley Crue motley Crue changed the music world the way Ozzy did and for all the practical purposes I would say the same for Ronnie James Dio stepping into the Ozzy shoes and Black Sabbath he took Black Sabbath and he made it his own but I could go on talking Rock all day so I'll shut this down now horns up throttles back take a shot of Jack and be careful God bless

    Still really dig drop D. I think the defacto tuning of 80s was half down but drop a whole step is so meaty. Thanks as always for the videos. Appreciated always

    • @Ranch5150SkinWalker
      @Ranch5150SkinWalker  2 года назад +2

      You’re very welcome. Drop D is super powerful man! It can get really muddy and tuning can be an issue. Getting the right string gauge and also amp tone is really important other wise it’s like playing with cooked spaghetti and mashed potatoes. Haha. 😂😂

      @@Ranch5150SkinWalker I’ve met guys who play 9s in drop c tuning or tune down to B on a set of 10s and actually can play in tune. My hands are way too heavy for that I need some tension on the ropes.

      And the singing of Vince neil, Vince Neil and Mick, did more for motley Crue without album then all of them combined on all the rest of the albums Vince and mick, knew that girls girls girls, had to be a hit and you can tell, Vince Neil really went all out on it as well as McMorris even though Mick Mars played a lot of easy power chords on these songs he kept it in the pocket and you can be the best guitarist in the world but if you if you don't have that metronome and you don't practice your ass off you sound like s*** I don't give a f*** who you are I'd say that to George Lynch and I love George Lynch we disagree all worldly views but we agree on the guitar just about 90% of the time and George Lynch is the man when it comes to '80s rockers, because he's the one who's basically still alive out of all the debauchery that and still in one piece I put it like that and still looks good he doesn't look like he's been rolled over by a f****** train and he's not having all this stupid ass facial work done, but yes you're right Mick Mars, did a phenomenal job on that album and as well on the following Dr feelgood even though they did have another guitarist come into assist him on Dr feelgood I forget his name right now Michael something the guy plays like a double-headed guitar but they going opposite directions and he's playing both heads at the same time you guys incredible I mean he used to do standalone shows so that's pretty impressive, Michael D'Angelo that's his name, the bass player that I think that if motley Crue was to break up and Vince and then we're smart enough to buy the name motley Crue off of Nikki, would be really sorzo and I would kick Tommy Lee to the curb, cuz he's a showman not a drummer, and Vince and Mick take the band get Doug Aldrich from whitesnake and Rudy sarzo from Dio and it would be like having a new motley Crue I mean that would be like the '80s if you want to bring that back that they should do it and they could do it in a big way and I can even write new stuff the biggest gimmick I've seen with motley Crue so far has been the whole we're not going to tour no more or make any more music or whatever they signed and they had a big signing and they had a big rip thing with tombstones Nikki needs to grow the f****** Nikki's a f****** kid and he needs to grow the f****** he's running a multi-million dollar f****** industry by himself and for the record labels it's a multi-trillion dollar industry cuz Mickey and Nick and them are only getting so much which is very little on the sales of the albums I get royalties at which royalties don't pay what they used to but it has moved over one digit so that's making a world difference so that the late '90s got like Disturbed that they talked about how great it was now that they're getting paid royalties and they moved it over a digit they said how great how much more money they were making now just due to moving the digit over one zero so you know you can imagine putting your heart and soul into something and I'm only giving you a pennies for what you're doing I mean that's just pathetic you know Warner Bros and them should be ashamed but back to make Mars yes McMorris was the man he is the most underrated guitarist out there in my humble opinion alongside of Warren demartini, Jackie lee, and depend upon who you talk to George lynch, and also veto the guy from White Lion don't ever know what happened to him but I used to be a huge fan of his but he fell off the same when they broke up so I don't know what he's exactly doing now I would love to hear him play again but I whenever I get bored I ain't going to lie I go to Blackmore Richie Blackmore's best of all time hands down and in fact there's a wild story out there about McMorris and Richie Blackmore at a club not at the same time it was rich you wasn't there but motley showed up and they were all signing the Wall of shame you really got to do your homework on motley Crue to find out who are the liars and who are the people that really got shafted Vince got shafted Nick got shafted Tommy and Nikki got very wealthy off of two other people's backs end of story
