@@starpier I think he means he "comes across as a perfectionist" to people, but really he just has the ability to notice less obvious imperfections than most of his dev-team and play-testers, ideally resulting in a higher quality game than other AAA titles.
He obviously will lets some things slide (so as not to be an actual "perfectionist", but they are so minor that the majority of players won't give these bugs a second thought if they even happen to encounter them. I think Kojima knows that out of the millions of people that play his games there will be a small percentage of die-hard players that will notice these imperfections if left unchecked, and as a show of respect to his biggest fans he will do his best to minimize even those.

The way I see it Kojima is like that annoying/strict coach you had that pushed you to your limit because they knew you were capable of greatness. You may hate the coach for pushing you so much but when you succeed in the end who do you end up thanking? Directors have a hard job and that's why I respect Hideo Kojima so much.

@@Gadget-Walkmen according to Nikkei report the budget was around $80 million. The worldwide sales did not manage to brake even this figure. just my impression is that on MGS5 the business side of the game went out of control. But saying "The worldwide sales did not manage to brake even this figure.", isn't at all true since the game made 179 million in a short while from launch.

Note the discussion between Kojima and the team. No mincing words, just honesty. You'll find this attitude of straight-forwardness in most great, can-do workplaces. No need for pleasantries, just creating great things.
    Also, at 22:38
I bet that huge disk writer is worth a penny or two! What a thing of beauty. I wonder if this was for creating early disk versions of the game for testing. Of course, you don't write a disk to test software on the PS3, so hmmm.

That's not his fault. At that time Kojima and Konami were on very bad terms. Konami wanted to fire Kojima years before MGS5 released, but they couldn't. Because if they did, MGS5 wouldn't of got finished.
The conflict between Konami and Kojima caused MGS5 to release in such an unfinished state.
And even though the story was unfinished, the game was extremely polished and stable, and very well optimized.
But if you want to blame someone, blame Konami. Remember, Kojima left Konami a month after MGS5 release. You know damn well they had bad blood, because as soon as Kojima left Konami, Konami removed Kojima's name from the boxart, and prevented him from going to the Award ceremony to get his award.
That should tell you all you need to know. I blame Konami for MGS5 mistakes. Look what happend after Kojima isn't there to make a new Metal Gear game, we get Metal Gear Survive. Lmao.
When has Kojima ever released a game unfinished before? Before MGS5. Blame Konami.

kojima originally wasn't supposed to direct mgs3. He just gave it for his staff to do while he does something else, but there was some development problems going on there and it wasn't going anywhere so kojima had to step in and take control of the project and direct it himself. That's probably what happened.

everyones commenting about what a genious kojima is and praising him left and right which but really....He doesn't know anything about programming and he pretty much just orders the team around with impossible demands like a slave driver than takes all the credit by putting "created by hideo kojima" at least 500 times in every corner of the games
