His guitar work is insanely good. The way he blends his jazz chords. The entire in reverie album rocked, it's very pretty sounding. Stay what you are...perfect album. Very rare to do so. Not 1 bad song. And sound the alarm was great. Delusional, hell is here and sound the alarm have such great chord progressions it's insane. I could watch him talk about his songs for 5 hrs straight.
If u look at his old vid his voice was high and his singing was was low tough sounding. But he blew out his voice and maybe had surgery..but he def said he could not continue to sing the way he used to and had to find a middle ground.
His voice oddly got higher and higher the newer the albums are. His voice was pretty normal on Saves the Day's first w albums. That dramatically got higher. By their 4th album, it got TOO high. STDs first 3 albums are amazing...everything after is borderline annoying due to his high voice.
lol i like how like 1/4th of this vid is just chris conley just playing the stairway to heaven riff & smoke on the water like you're being trolled. then one of the first riffs he plays is 'anywhere with you' which is like one of the first songs i ever tried to learn on guitar. i remember my uncle that had a stroke recently was like "i've played guitar for years, i can teach you any song! just show me." & i played him that song. & he was just like "okay, i don't know how to play this..." even though it's literally like 4 power chords & a B dominant 7, which is such a beatles chord i feel like he should've known that lol. even after i bought a guitar & just sat down & learned how to play like 'fear before the march of flames - odd how people shake' in it's entirety, things that are overly simple have always been hard to me. that riff for that new song is pretty cool even though i've literally never even listened to it before lol. but i'm glad he at lea st played the opening riff to 'you vandal', because that's just one of the best opening riffs to an album ever in general.
It is crazy seeing him with gray beard hair. Makes me not want to look in the mirror and see that I'm also middle aged and "at your funeral" was decades ago 😂
Pro tip: try turning on more lights and stopping down your lenses to like a T8 or something. That will increase the depth of field and you can have more of your picture in focus 👍🏽
Why even do a video where he plays riffs if you can’t even film the person correctly. WE WANT TO SEE HIS FRETTING HAND. That’s the left hand on a righty guitar player. Great job!
Not surprised at his proficiency- the “Through Being Cool” & “Stay What You Are” lineup was so goddamn tight, as technically gnarly as any emo/metalcore band from that era but subtler, lovelier and just classier than any of those bands who are not named Thrice. What a brilliant bunch of dudes to develop your songwriting chops with. I imagine he learned quite a bit from the other 4 dudes before they split.
@@crk140 I have tickets for saturday today the 23rd in Jersey at the starland ballroom the second night they added due to high demand. So how was the show?? and the venue ?
All guitars are. It's the nature of its equal temperament. Also, his hands are probably playing a roll as well (fretting to hard, unintentional string pulling)
LOL This video makes it seem like he learned to play and write some of the most interesting guitar parts in the genre by listening to the most generic riffs found in your local Guitar Center.
Some fantastic camera work in this video, especially the parts where he missed most of what he was playing with his fretting hand.
Brian Roberts yup lol
When non-musicians try to make videos about playing music
Someone needs to kick the camera man
It's also tuned way down. Not to hard to figure out if you know the song. I have a feeling it was done on purpose.
I realize I am kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good website to stream new series online?
Through being cool. Such a good pop punk album. Classic.
Criminally underrated guitarist
Saves The Day has been my favorite band since early 00's.....still hasn't changed!

In reverie is a masterpiece and a delight
Is in reverie the best example of th| blending of jazz chords?
Love Sound the Alarm
Me and some buddies started a band and did a lot of Saves the Day covers in the early 2000's... love these guys.
Sick! I’ve always loved this guy
In reverie has some insane chord progressions
Like?
@@HeyIntegrity Tomorrow too late.

Stay What You Are was the soundtrack of my 20's. Such a great band,
One of my high school favorites! My generations “The Smiths” for a moment! Thanks for the music!
*Demonstrates the fretting*
*Cameraman zooms in on the picking hand*
....Come on man.
sounds more like an editing mistake
Great camerawork on this one, brick wall is in focus for the whole intro, then zooming/focusing in on the wrong hand the whole time... sick.
"after stairway I learned smoke on the water"......am....am I being trolled here...or..🤷

When you really think about. Chris is a great song writer. And it shows that he listens to classic music of all genres.
Amazing job catching the riffs
who cares about the left hand, right?
He’s right “in bloom” soo underrated !
Jukebox breakdown is such a good riff
The camera person has never played guitar in their life.
" I think I remember how to play it" plays it flawless without thought lololoololll. Hearing Nirvana made the video imo tho
You guys need to have some bassists on these segments! No hate, just a suggestion (bcuz I'm a basey boi)

I think he looks his age, because of the greys... If he didn't have those beard greys he would look probably 35.

oh no, he played the forbidden riff and the riff which must not be named! 😂
True but he's not in a guitar store
This proves we all start the same, classical then stairway and we’re in to the guitar rabbit hole 🤘🏻🤘🏻

HE PLAYED THE FORBIDDEN RIFF
His guitar is slightly out of tune .
All guitars are. It's the nature of its equal temperament. Also, his hands are probably playing a roll as well (fretting to hard, unintentional string pulling)
He's always had that problem. Add in a 70's gibson and it's compounded.
There's no such thing as perfect tuning. You have to keep the tuning as close as possible.
