So much so, many would rather play mind games with the opponent, than be the one who strikes first. Because once you've given your guard up for attack, the fight will almost always be over very quickly. Mordhau, while an arcade interpretation of melee fighting, is somewhat more accurate. The various swing manipulations with riposte creates situations where you don't really want to riposte predictable attacks on every single parry, because it gives opponents initiative to feed you mix-ups.
Nah only noons mirror each other in a fight for an hour doing the same attacks back and forth. You have to break their flow of combat by mixing drags, kicks, jabs, and movement.

to follow that up, i genuinely rooted for you in these matches. i think chiv ii is a thousand times more watchable than it's counterparts as a "sport" in the competitive sense.
Idk tbh, I’ve always found chiv (both 1 and 2) to be incredibly clunky when compared to mordhau, everything in chiv feels so robotic, like there is no fluid motion in it

When I first started playing Chiv 2, it felt like absolute shit coming from Mordhau. It felt like things were hitting my block before the windup was even finished, making countering ridiculously hard. I think after getting used to the animations, however, Chiv 2 generally has a much healthier combat flow for both 1vX and duels. I also believe the system allows for proper strategic gambling with jabs that Mordhau only has a gimped version of through kicks. Overall, I think Chiv 2 better captured the aspects of what makes the FPMS genre enjoyable.
That second fight felt like a fight out of a movie, both opponents forced to switch it up and the battle goes on so long there weapons are knocked out of their hands.
First one was disarmed, then picked up a weapon off the wall, eventually weapons were swapped when the player tried to throw his weapon and picked up his enemy's before disarming him and subsequently decapitating him.
A good tip is to always assume a dane axe user has initiative. Because they do lmao. also use kick more if they start to predictably block every attack. A lot of good players wont go to block immediately after an attack in anticipation of a kick some times though.
I like how you learned and adapted to the macr guy spamming q special. Also that first fight where you both were picking up different weapons was like something out of jackie chan movie

I actually like TTK in this game, the exagerrated clashing sounds are satisfying as well. But animations are still so offputing for me. Wish I could get past it to enjoy it as well

The only pros to chiv really are the maps, gimmicks(ie. grabbing everything/being able to throw everything), and the voicelines. I like the voices of mord better but chiv just has more voice lines.
Whats the learning curve like on this game if you're already decent at mordhau? There seems to be a couple big differences that will take muscle memory time to get used to, but other than that is it pretty seamless?
if you match your controls to closely resemble your mordhau inputs it will help but takes a decent amount of time to get used to the differences (I'm at 40 hours rn and got the hang of it at this stage)

I live in Brasil, and here, outside the city on rural areas we have a sort of sword that is called "facão" or "pexera", normally it have the length of the lower leg and having no police in those lands the people solve problems by their own, so it's not very rare to see swords fights until death on those remote places, normally they take one sword on each hand and start to fight but takes long before someone gets hit because they defend with precision.
My tactic in this was perfect, especially against cautious players who block. Mirror them for 2 blocks then throw a kick and finish with the face thrust! I'm a major Knight main and the greatswords are excellent 👌
My brother and I, when we have time, we get two long clubs and fight until someone hits the other. It is really close to the fights from this game, but without armor and 10 times faster. It's a great game.
I've only ever played Chiv I and Mordhau. Is 'competitive' combat in Chiv II out staming your opponent by making block longer? Fake an accel, but actually drag/morph to draw out their block time etc...

I noticed a bunch of stuff while watching u play: 5:25 you pre-emptively moved right slowly knowing you where going to dodge to left on the first attack to make the enemy aim right and miss you 6:00 you were blocking and saw the guy was about to kick you so you moved your block to the left so his kick hit you instead of your block so i doesnt stun you Do you just have a sequence of steps to take for every move the enemy might make memorized? Or is it a subconcious thing from playing melee slasher games for so long? Whatever it is you are a god at these games.

I love both mordhau and chiv, but mordhau does have way better animations, even if there aren't as many as chiv
