One thing that helps with dueling is learning how to react from neutral. Regular feints are faster than counter feints. So if you are always counter feinting for defense. Regular atttacks from neutral will be faster than your counter. The fakeout becomes what high level duels are about because you could just endlessly counter feint each others attacks. You have to try and hit the opponent in the correct state with each swing.
Something I think that really let you down in prep for your revenge match was not talking about stamina management. You throw a few too many heavies IMO and don't use them to condition your opponent by then throwing out mega acceled lights. You play on the backfoot whereas you need to be the one setting the pace and forcing your opponent to react to what YOU are doing.
I've seen you in TO and you have very good positioning so be proud of that, duels are an entirely different animal and take a lot of consistent practice to get the hang of. If you dueled guys like pack smoker like every day you would catch up a lot faster than you would think.
thanks man I use to play duels a lot with pack and lacuna a lot Id get them here and there but die most times dueling's a whole different game for me I definitely need a lot more practice especially against pack my man plays Duels 24/7 but I think my biggest flaw is not being patient enough due to TO since you got to be on the move or interrupt others attacks my play style on there works for TO not so much for duels😭
Bro I never realised you're a controller player damn man fair play, I can literally never counter overheads as fast as you can cuz of the way I hold my controller literally burned into my skull not to rest a finger on the bumper cuz back then that was always the grenade button that I never really needed to use consistently, but anyways always remember you doing the boys on console proud 👏

Your playstyle is too predictable. You need to switch up the timing a lot more. For example, say he throws a slash, just block it and don't do anything. Get close to him and once he tries to attack jab him. Then jab him again, then attack normal. You want to be unpredictable. Also don't always slash to overhead, again too predictable. Switch it up, overhead to stab, stab to overhead etc. Also, your jabs are too slow, you have to react quickly. Notice here 9:50 you landed and he immediately jabs you (as everyone should whenever you get hit), and your jab comes too late which allows him to land a hit and another jab. So he was able to hit you 3 times in quick succession (jab, spin, jab).

The only good way of becoming good at duels is hopping into a duelling server and get your ass slapped by the big boys, my friend! Keep the grind, you're already really good, just need to improve in some little aspects!

Yes and no. It's not as fast as an acceleration. The goal is to make your opponent miss the counter window and catch them with a slow hit. If they counter when you pull away, they'll miss, and you get a free hit as they start a new animation.
I'm not sure if your sensitivity is too high or you're just moving your sticks too much but it looked like you were overshooting your camera/parry box quite a bit as well as missing overheads you could have hit pretty easily. I don't play controller but just a thought.

There are cheats on pc that can affect movement speed of slashes and player models. It was way more prevalent before the easy anti cheat update but it still persists. But yes the footman can dodge quickly and there are some bugs in the game to cancel animations and dodge in a broken way

at 4:30 you swung at his thigh but it was blocked even though if you pause the video the wood of his weapon is above where you swung, so wtf? Packsmoker doesn't ever run out of stamina and blocks 99/100 hits without blocking till the exact second? i don't get it
Mechanic is called attack to parry. As long as you are not feinting a swing you can change it to a parry before the swing release. So it looks like they are about to swing, they end up parrying because your swing is gonna hit them first.
I think you guy are too much of a facehugger, you should try to improve your distance management. Anyway you got a really good level and remember that this is always easier to comment a duel when you’re not the one fighting. Sympathy from France!
I think ur feinting a bit too much in duels (like, in 8:02, u are feinting even when u almost have no stamina) - a pretty typical habit for a TO player cuz it worked in TO where ur enemies are generally much weaker and can’t counter them(or, the battlefield is chaotic enough to make it work even against experienced players). But the standard attack then feint combination (especially without dragging/accels) are some easy counters for experienced duelists and feints consume a lot of stamina. Ur opponent can simply counter and accel and wait for u to feed them counters to build up stamina advantage real quick. Having low stamina bar is very dangerous esp. against experienced players that aren’t feeding u obvious accel/drags, as u can’t guarantee a counter and can easily get disarmed because of that: u would need to not throw a counter so quickly as ur enemy might drag and reserve enough stamina for blocks in case they do the fastest accel possible. It’s the first time I watch ur video and I often don’t comment, I did this time cuz it kinda reminded me of the time it just started duelling after hundreds of levels in TO. I think ur basics is fine but to be a better duelist u need to practise more specialised techniques for duels, like how to spin(naturally), positioning/spacing, how to jab(in a much more annoying way), attack cancelling, patience (in winning the stamina game instead of expecting ur opponent to fall for ur feints as in TO), how to drag/accel better etc.

But throwing out ur counter so early could be dangerous since if ur enemy feint into a drag, u might not be able to counter that even if u match his attack direction, due to weapon speed difference or for some reason. U will see situations like 7:20 happening quite a lot for example. That’s why u often want to wait a bit and only counter when ur very confident what attack ur enemy is throwing out before countering, which means u need to reserve stamina for block when u can’t counter. And that is alright, cuz in duels riposting might not be a worse move than counters (as u can riposte into anything, which gives more room for manipulation)

That actually isn’t true. The game locks everyone’s mouse DPI and sensitivity to a certain amount when swinging. So swing manipulation is pretty much the same for everyone.

I would totally watch this… and your channel…… however, you play in third person which is lame. I wanna see first battles, third person is so boring; and it’s pretty cheap. If you’re really good at the game, and want to impress your subscribers play in first person it’s sooo much more exciting for us to watch. Footmen can dash more quickly than knight and Vanguard.

very rarely kick in a duel its consider gambling it can get you killed instantly
