Movie Summary:
Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) battles horrible Jabba the Hut and cruel Darth Vader to save his comrades in the Rebel Alliance and triumph over the Galactic Empire. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) reaffirm their love and team with Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), the Ewoks and the androids C-3PO and R2-D2 to aid in the disruption of the Dark Side and the defeat of the evil emperor.

It’s about time, man! Return of the Jedi is, in my opinion, is my favorite Star Wars film.

@@mrflickswatches We have a unique opportunity here. If Bianca is willing, have her join you in watching the prequels, (1, 2, 3), and then to watch Return of the Jedi after the prequels. This way she will have watched them in an approximation of "The Machete Order" as compared to you watching them in "Release Order." This will also give us as your viewers the chance to see both reactions side by side. I wouldn't miss it.
I find that I oscillate between return of the jedi being the best one and empire strikes back being the best one depending on what mood I'm in LOL
Either way, return of the jedi has the best ending

Appreciate the honesty about Bianca not wanting continue with the franchise. Glad that you're enthusiastic about the franchise and your reactions will likely show that enthusiasm and positivity. If she's not into it, it would show in her reaction and probably taint the reaction for fans of the franchise. We're here because we love these movies and want to see others discover and learn to love them as well. No shade on Bianca for having her own tastes and preferences.
Don't listen exclusively to the words when Leia says she's always known Luke is her brother. Look at her face. Look at how she's physically reacting to it. She's introspecting. Being a Skywalker, she's using the Force without consciously knowing she is. She has the inate knowledge, but it wasn't something she was aware of until she took the moment to deal with it.
It isn't like she just knew the whole time and was pretending she didn't. There's acting happening at that moment, and in a visual medium where the canard of "Show, don't tell" exists, how Leia reacts is actually more important than the dialogue spoken at that moment.
I really love watching ppl see Star Wars for the first time. I can never get that feeling again, but seeing the reactions of new folks ... so cool.
My favourite line is still when they're in the stolen ship and Han says "I don't know, fly casual" makes me laugh every time 🤣
Your view of Vader is on the mark.He was one of the greatest villains ever - ruthless,pragmatic,and above all,he had style.
Love him ! Villain or not! S tier character in my book! Watching the next one tomorrow excited to dive into more back story on him !
Jabba is not royalty, per se, rather he is a crime boss. Think of him like "The Godfather". Jabba's "daimyo" position on Tatooine is clarified a bit in The Book of Boba Fett series.
People getting into star wars now are so lucky. You have all of these movies and streaming shows. Imagine 16 years of none of that. That's how it was between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace. And that wasn't just 16 years of waiting for a new starwars to come out. That was 16 years of wondering if a new starwars if a new starwars will come out. Fans complain about the new stuff but I don't care. This is a great time to be a starwars fan!
I appreciate the honesty that Bianca does not want to continue with this, it is better to do something for fun and not being forced to watch them. You had also said in the last episode that you were looking at the cgi progressing over time and if you want to watch this trilogy without the added cgi from '99 then you can definitely find it online in your free time if you want to. I'm very excited for when you get to watching the shows!
Agreed. It is no fun for SW fans who enjoy watching people react to something we love and not enjoy it.
1. Best guess is that Han was Jabba's "trophy" for about a year and a half before the rescue.
2. Vader discovered Leia as Luke's sister because he could feel it in Luke.
Luke didn't know that until just before then.
3. Luke's light saber is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they
decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape.
4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying
to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related.
5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han.
6. This was Warrick Davis'/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13.
Willow is his lead with Val Kilmer and worth a first time/share.😎
7. Obvious CGI/start/stop with the race through the forest. Nobody in their right mind would go that fast.
8. A little corn. Hans' reaction to Leia telling him Luke is her brother.
9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the picture.
10. Ford wanted Han to die in this episode.
11. This is the best of the original 6 George Lucas Star Wars. After this he sold it to Disney, and everything changed. Sadly

Don't know if you mention it before. But also the whole point of Solo in the Carbon Freeze is he was the last to sign on for Return. So they were ready either way.

It was wise of you to decide watching in the release order … the only advice I can give is to ignore the difference in effects in the next ones … they came out decades later … just follow the story itself. just thought id tell you that the cute little things you are/ were watching were called EWOKS, they are natives of the forest moon of Endor. The actor in the suit was called Warick Davis, he was twelve years old at the time of return of the jedis shooting both warick davis and i are the same age. this was actually the first movie I saw in the theatres at the age of twelve and I was hooked. there is a lot to take in for this movie if you have questions ask me and i can answer them to the best of my abilities ...and from my point of view.
think about all the fun and excitement you had watching these three original movies... now imagine seeing these when you were say... 10 years old. all three of these were life-changing for Gen X.
Jabba is one of many crime lords in the outer rim. The Hutts are gangsters. Think of him as a sorta Tony Montana meets Don Corleone.

The one with Samuel L Jackson, where you saw Yoda, is part of the prequel trilogy. Those take place many years before the originals, and shows the origin of Darth Vader and the Empire.

Lightsaber colors are determined by the "force personality" of the user. Blue = A Jedi Knight's standard = more actively engages to enforce Jedi codes and Republic laws, Green = Yoda, Qui Gon, Luke's second saber = strong connection with the force, uses lightsaber sparingly, more philosophical connection to Jedi matters, Red = Dark side users = the kyber chrystal "bleeds" from the negative meditation on the hatred, anger, etc, of a dark force user, Purple = a combination of light side and dark side tactics without succumbing to the seduction of the dark side, White = Ahsoka Tano = A dark-side saber that gets "healed" changes from red to white, Black = The Mandalorian = a special saber constructed by the former ruler of Mandalore who was also a Jedi, Yellow = Temple guards.
This being the new canon implemented by Disney.
Saw these films back in the day, the way I see it when Darth died Anakin was resurrected. I won’t say any more so as to not give anything away for the prequels.
Phantom Menace is about 36 years before this one, so that's why Yoda was in it.
Lucas did take pride in choosing the locations for these movies, going from one type land/climate to something very different the next time.
It could be a lot more interesting if each planet consisted of more than one ecosystem. Example: An area of Tatooine where water is plentiful.
What you need to watch now are the despecialized versions of the original trilogy. These are the original theatrical versions of the movies, as they originally appeared with just practical effects and puppetry, before all the cgi enhancements, alterations, and extended scenes. The OG vhs versions now on DVD and Blu Ray, you could say.
Whenever I watch Star Wars, I watch episodes 1-3 and then 4-6.
The original version of the movie, for the ghosts scene, had the older actor for Vader.
Can't wait until you get into episodes 1, 2 and 3. I still like the originals the best but the prequels are good, especially episode 3.

Return of the Jedi is my favorite of the original trilogy, just barely above Empire Strikes Back. Mainly because we do see Luke come right on the edge of falling to the dark side. Of the prequels, my favorite is Revenge of the Sith, and of the sequels, The Last Jedi.

Also originally Han solo was going to be Luke's sibling but George Lucas changed it to be Leia in the end

Every time I see this movie and how it ends I always smile but then I remember what Disney did to franchise and my smile disappears:(

I don't like how the original trilogy was updated/altered. In the original Return of the Jedi, Vader didn't scream Nooo when he was throwing the Emperor, which gave it more of an impact to me and Anakin wasn't his younger self as a ghost at the end. I wish Lucas hadn't messed with his original versions.
Just hold in the back of your head that Darth Vader/Anakin is the Key character in StarWars. He was the choosen one to bring balance to the force. In the end..He Did.

That’s fine that she’s not into it, not everyone has to like one thing . Personally I can see why some ppl don’t like the original trilogy, either it’s not for them or it’s just that it’s outdated and looks old
White is a good choice if you wanna be different but I'd say black is even more unique. We only know of one such saber. And white feels like it could fit inte many eras, before, during and after the Old Republic. Personally, I would just study the dark side of the Force. To the point where a lightsaber would become trivial.
The Return of the Jedi was that Darth Vader became Anakin Skywalker again. Anakin Skywalker returned as a Jedi!

episode 1 takes place 22-23 years before a new hope. it is the back story to the original trilogy which is why characetrs died that you see in tpm

It was pretty evident from the first video that she was bored out of her mind. It honestly made watching painful.
Darth Vader is the greatest villain in the history of film! Hands down!

The next three are prequels and explain Vader's back story.

the actor for darth vadder, was a few people. david prowse a 6'10 former wrestler iwth ahorrible voice was the suit for the size. James earl jones was the voice. the breating was due to acting as vader was needing help breating from something that happene din the past. you will se ein E3.
3rd actor was Shebastan shaw who was the face of teh unaksed vader.
prequels was jake Lloyd is kid skywalker, an d of course hayden christinsain was 20 year old anikin.

Bobba Fett was hyped up in the books, if you havent read the EU (Expanded Universe now known as legends) i highly recommend you read some of em. The books i would recommend are called the Thrawn Trilogy they are fantastic

@@mrflickswatches You should do some research on Kyber Crystals. :) They are the crystals that are used in lightsabers. They are naturally attuned to the light side of the force, but the Sith (the dark side users) can (over time) bend them to their will and turn them red (attune them to the dark side). White lightsabers are red lightsabers that have been brought back from the dark side to the light side. There's actually a TON of lore surrounding them.

Wow the First Time I saw "A New Hope" it was just called Star Wars and they didn't have any of that CGI Crap, No Jabba until this Film. And I Remembered it from when I was 6.
