Kim, congrats to you. You are now, officially, a Star Wars fan. This is one of the most genuine reactions I've seen to this movie, and the fact that you shed tears at the final act of this was really gripping. Trust me when I say this: you haven't seen anything yet. Onward to the Prequels!
You were wondering why Vader was so weak in the final fight. I previously watched a video that had a great explanation to this. According to the comic lore, sometime before their meeting on Endor, Darth Vader had a vision about Luke turning to the dark side and helping him overthrowing the emperor. Unfortunately, the emperor later kills Luke and Vader as a ghost in this vision. In this vision Luke had a green blade; the same one that Luke was using when he faced Vader. When Vader sees that Luke has a green lightsaber, he comes to greatly fear this vision, and it saps his will to actually go through with his plans. He is so weak against Luke because he had lost the will to win, fearing the outcome of such a victory.
Just so you know, the 'canon' reason why Luke's lightsaber was green in this movie was because it was a completely different lightsaber that he constructed using a crystal he got on Dagobah. He lost the blue one in the previous movie when his hand was cut off.
Also the real world reason was that originally it was supposed to be a new blue one but you couldnt make it out against the blue sky in the scene he uses it for the first time
Leia's journey wasn't to beco9me a badass or a leader, she was already those things. Her journey was to come to terms with her own emotions. She started as the determined but rather shallow senator/princess and when her world was destroyed she became almost cold and unrelenting almost to the point of hate for the empire. It was Han who started to crack that shell and allowed her to start to grow again.
Yup, totally believable. ;-) But compared to the first two, she wasn't as thirsty? (Although there were moments. lol) Maybe she got enough water? But either way, she can be as thirsty as she wants to be. Definitely gives a positive spin to the trilogy. Men were typically thirsty for Leia with the Slave bikini. Nothing wrong with the role reversal. Kim simping for Han, Luke, and of course, Big Daddy Vader. ;-) lol
Your genuine, enthusiastic, joyous reactions make me feel like a kid again seeing these films for the first time and the massive influence they had on me. Thank YOU for your time putting these reactions together. And may the force be with you, always.
When Obi-Wan told Luke he had a sister, that's when it clicked for him and he instantly understood what the connection he always felt to Leia actually was, even if he at first thought it may have been romantic back when they first met. Same for Leia. When he told her she was his sister, it instantly clicked for her and that's why she said "I know," not because she literally always knew they were twins, but because it made sense to her in retrospect given how their relationship had evolved over the years. I think Leia's growth was in another direction throughout the three movies in comparison to Luke and Han. Luke goes from a naive kid to a heroic Jedi Knight, Han goes from a selfish pirate to a hero of the Rebel Alliance, and Leia goes from a unflappable badass to a badass who finally allows herself to be gentler with those she cares about. Leia was way meaner and cold in the previous movies, and here you could see her repeatedly being affectionate and kind to both Luke and Han without being snarky or sarcastic about it, and she was also immediately nice to the little Ewok she met when she got separated from the others, and tried to reason with them instead of boss them around when she saw they had captured the rest.
This is why Leia felt Luke calling to her at Bespin, why she knew where Luke was, they are siblings and both can touch the Force.. She felt him through the Force, though since she isn't trsined, all she registered was a very strong impulse. Force impressions are also why Luke can feel some good left in Vader. One more twist...in ANH, Vader supervised the torture of his own daughter, but never realized it...he never sensed Leia in the Force while standing a stride away, yet he picks up on Luke during fighter combat. Why does Vader never sense the Force in Leia?
@@MGower4465 For the last bit, it was because George Lucas had not created that part of the story yet! Even in Ep V when "the other" is mentioned, nobody knew who that reference was to.
Yeah, in so many reactions I have seen, people take that line literally. Also, other than the big kiss in ESB to make Han jealous, all the other affection she shows Luke seems to be more friendly or sisterly.
Wait till you watch the prequels you get Anakin story and the first one ain't that heartbreaking but the second and third you better get ready to cry your eyes out
I cry at the death of Darth Vader every time, it's nice to see another person tear up at the emotional moment. Can't wait to see our girl watch all the Star Wars.
Yeah its a reminder for us SW.veterans to appreciate the intensity of a movie going from Muppet singers and fluffly bears to a really deep family storyline. George Lucas should get more credit for making these movies that any age person can appreciate.
You are absolutely correct in Lucas's choice in putting Luke in all black in this movie. They wanted us to wonder if he would go to the Dark Side like his father before him. But at the end of the movie,a chest swath is undone, showing a lighter shade against the black.
@@leonrussell9607 I'd say that both characters are great, but despite their appearances they're very different characters. May I ask why you don't like the mandalorian?
Well all the questions were answered if you read between the lines. Also somewhere around 1989 Lucas released the X-wing vs TIE Fighter game which included a small booklet which told about the different characters of the movie. That was the first time Sheeve Palpatine’s was mentioned and it told that he was first a senator and later on became the Emperor. The prequels kind of dumb down Star Wars. Anakin turned to the dark side just because of a woman. I mean that is not a unique story.
This was lovely Kim, reactions like this are proof that the OG trilogy remains a masterpiece. you got everything, the story, the feelings, the characters, all without any external help. Glad you enjoy it, this are your first steps into a larger world.
This is why this is my favorite movie in the whole saga. It concludes Vader's character arc beautifully and represents all the moral values of Star Wars.
Also; they added Hayden Christiansen the actor who plays Darth Vader in the prequels right at the end of this movie to show that Anakin/Vader had finally come full circle. It was a lovely touch seeing Obi Wan & Anakin together again, once you’ve seen episode 1,2 & 3 it hits even harder because you realise how cruel Anakin’s entire existence had been. He’s known nothing but pain and torment for his entire life.
Absolutely stoked to be along for the ride with you through the Star Wars universe. As I've always said, the time, effort, skill, energy & commitment you put into your videos is second to none, and it shows. I remember coming across your channel 2 years ago with Mass Effect 1 and being blown away, and you continue to amaze. Well done, ma'am. May the Force be with you.
Kim, you're such a genuine reactor this was just wonderful to watch! Your series is the best Star Wars reaction I have ever seen: your thinking is so smart, you pause to talk, you're so invested and you catch on to the little details that really make it! (not to mention your spontaneous disdain for Disney's travesty, the force is strong with you :p! ) I think you will love the prequels, they answer so many questions you asked and have much more complex plot intricacies too, which you seem to love. You've gained a sub and made my day
In case you’re wondering, the little tribe bears are called Ewoks. They instantly became fan favorites and got their own movie spin-offs and cartoon show back in the mid-80s! I’m not kidding!
First off, I've watched many Star Wars reactions. You put more love and effort into your editing than anyone I've ever seen. I also continue to enjoy your theorizing, your active engagement with the storytelling and the character arcs. It's funny when you're wrong and awesome when you're right and a good time all around. I love watching the birth of a new Star Wars fan. Second, I disagree with you about Leia. I think she would be a lot easier to turn to the Dark Side than Luke. Her very badassness is rooted in her love of the fight. She has so much anger and aggression in her that the powers of evil could twist if they tried. Luke, by contrast, is actually a much gentler, more compassionate person. A lot of fans say that Luke takes more after his mom than his dad, while Leia is very much Anakin Skywalker's kid. You can decide for yourself when you watch the prequels. They tell the story you want to know: how the emperor perverted Anakin Skywalker, why the twins were separated and grew up strangers, more about Obi-Wan Kenobi. I like the concepts and ideas behind the prequel series much better, in fact. I obsess over the relationships and politics and general tropes of the prequel story. Execution is not nearly as good. You can see what they *meant* to do, how it *could* have been, and that in and of itself is enough to make you waste your expensive mascara more than a bit. You can waste more of it thinking about all the ways they could have done it better. The actors gave it their all. The writing is . . . you'll see. I also enjoy The Mandalorian, Rogue One, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and The Clone Wars, and Rebels does some pretty cool stuff. Haven't taken the time to watch Andor or the Book of Boba Fett (Mr. Smooth) yet, but Andor got good reviews. There's a whole lot of Star Wars content to explore, some of it amazing, some of it mediocre, some just kind of terrible. You don't have to go on this journey with us, but I love watching you.
It is so beautiful to see someone fall in love with my favourite movies! Oh and a small fun fact: The lead writer of the Mass Effect series, Drew Karpyshyn also wrote some of the official Star Wars expanded universe novels ^^
I still remember going to see this movie in 83 when I was still 6 years old. That final duel between Luke and Vader, just feeling the full gravity of what was happening. This was the (amazingly) epic finale to this story that was a huge part of my life. Of course, at six I didn't have the vocabulary to express it as such, but I sure did feel it.
Following the destruction of the first Death Star, Darth Vader was indeed demoted from the position of Supreme Commander within the Imperial military. This demotion was a result of the Emperor's displeasure with the failure to protect the Death Star and defeat the Rebel Alliance. However, it's important to note that despite the demotion, Vader still maintained his authority and position as a high-ranking Sith Lord, continuing to play a significant role in the Empire's operations.
Another awesome reaction Kim. This movie answers alot of questions. The prequels will answer some more. I would recommend adding a new channel just for the movie and shows reactions. Looking forward to Episode 1 The Phantom Menance.
Damn I know this video has been out there for about 6 months but maaaaan you got me invested in your reactions, so so much. You're great and you have great production in your videos that makes them interesting and the fact you pause, you probably take hours but you're truly invested. Thanks for this.
Of course we're going to take you in, Kim, no matter the color of your lights fixtures! Welcome to the fandom! You'll always be a member of honor in the fandom and in our hearts, the other Star Wars fans who are lucky to know you! Ah, you're gonna love the prequels! xD And The Clone Wars pilot movie & series even more, if you ever decide to watch them ^^ As always, stellar editing, amazing reaction! May the Force be with you!
In the original 1983 release, we don't see the dancer after she falls through the trap door. When they were adding new stuff for the 1997 Special Edition, they found the same actress (Femi Taylor) who was unchanged after 14 years and able to don the costume again for additional scenes, including her scene in the pit.
Episode IV is iconic and made an indelible mark on my 10 year old mind back in ‘77. Episode V is the best story in the trilogy, so powerful and dramatic. Episode VI will always be my favourite to watch, though.
Luke having a sister was decided during the making of The Empire Strikes Back and she was going to be a new character, there was even the idea that she wouldn't appear until a further sequel but while making this one they decided to end the story fully and thought adding a new major character this late was too much, so made her Leia. Luke had to make a new lightsaber after losing his father's one (with his hand) at Bespin, the hilt is also very similar to Obi-wan's implying that he may have gone to Obi-wan's home for parts to build it. The ewok that Leia first meets is played by Warrick Davies who was only ten at the time. He also reprised the role in two live-action ewok movies made soon after this.
You offered a theory!! I propose an alternative explanation for why Vader refrained from killing after empire. He succumbed completely to the dark side after losing his wife and children. Seeing Luke would inevitably remind him of her. Within Vader, there are two distinct personas: Vader and Ani. Ani resurfaces during the confrontation with Luke. Despite the opportunity, Vader could have chosen to end Luke during their final battle, right up to the moment when Luke briefly teetered on the brink of the dark side. So he stop killing because he was hoping to see his son. hope is leads to the light side.
Seeing this movie in the early 80s, you have to realize, when the Emperor pulled out Force Lightning, that was the first time we'd see ANYTHING like that before. If I'd had the vocabulary for it at the time,I would've yelled "HOLY SH**!!" 😆
Basic difference between the colours of lightsabers are the crystals that are embedded in the hilt. Blue means the user is a guardian and is a stronger sabre duellist than a green user. Green means that the person has a stronger knowledge of the force and they are a stronger force user than they are a duellist. Hence Yoda having green & Obi Wan having blue - a perfect example. There are others which exist but their users are more complex. Mace Windu uses a purple crystal as he is a master of a specific form of sabre combat called form VII (or Vaapad). It’s sister form (Juyo) is used by Darth Maul in episode 1 when he fights Qui Gon & Obi Wan. Other users of purple crystals & form VII are Jedi Knight Revan & Darth Traya - Traya actually uses 3 sabres simultaneously and controls them all using the force whilst she sits and meditates.

Welcome to the greatest story ever told…enjoyed your reaction vid’s and reminded me of when I was a kid and saw these for the first time in theaters! May the force be with you…always…
One interesting thing I noticed is that in "A New Hope," C3-PO claims he's not very good at telling stories or making them interesting -- yet by "Return of the Jedi," the Ewoks are riveted by his stories of his adventures.
It was so great seeing you fall in love with Star Wars with these 3 videos. I can't wait for you to cover the prequels. They will answer all your lingering questions about Anakin.
Wow, Kim! You should be a talk show host or a presenter on American television. Your diction is so clear. Add to that your killer smile and boundless energy/enthusiasm and we have the perfect embodiment of a Prime time show host.
Saw it with my brothers and dad on Opening Day...when Darth chucked Palpy into the reactor, the entire theater erupted into deafening thunderous applause. it was the most amazing thing.
Simp away, young Jedi, simp away! I found your channel via Star Wars Ev IV (A New Hope). Such enthusiasm. Equally enjoyed Empire strikes Back and finally! Finally we have Return!!! So psyched.
The best part of this reaction was when you stopped being horny for 2 minutes to contemplate twincest xD. Good stuff. Oh, also the fact that you actually got emotional near the end. That's also pretty neat.
The Trials are different for every Jedi. Usually it involves facing one's inner demons while adhering to the light side of the Force. In Luke's case, confronting Darth Vader along with the knowledge that he was once Anakin Skywalker and the fear and anger associated with that fact. All while remaining true to the Jedi way.
Such a lovely, genuine, heartfelt reaction to a satisfying conclusion to a great trilogy! (Now imagine being a preschooler when you saw the first one, and approaching the end of primary school by the time you saw Jedi... That was my experience! 😅 I am practically one with The Force myself - my son even waited a week to be born on May The Fourth 💕) We love you, Kim.. (You Know!)
I missed this during my move. I didn't even realize you'd posted this video until I saw TPM had been posted. I'm so happy you are enjoying Star Wars. 😁 There's a reason it's so widely beloved.
Seeing Anakin's Force ghost at the end is always a great moment, such a great yet bittersweet way to end his character arc 😭 As always, I enjoy and appreciate how invested in these movies you are, you're reactions remain top notch! Also, good catch with Luke wearing black to symbolize the theme with him being tempted and pulled towards the dark side 😉 After the Emperor is defeated, there is now a visible flap of white on his clothing to represent both he and especially Vader breaking through that darkness. 😄 Additionally, I kind of recently looked into it, and apparently Leia wasn't planned to be Luke's sister until this movie. Mind you, he was always supposed to have a twin sister, but it just wasn't supposed to be Leia. Apparently they wanted to make another trilogy about Luke looking for his sister, but because they were unsure if they could do that in the future, they decided to tie up all loose ends in this movie instead. Ah well, what are you gonna do 🤷♀️ I'm so happy you've been enjoying the movies and I look forward to your reaction to the prequels ❤
luke's lightsaber he had in the 2 previous movies was lost in cloud city. Luke built his own between movies and it was green (in part because green would show up better against the blue sky)
20:47 Blue light saber indicates a Jedi Guardian, a Jedi who use the Force on a more physical level. Green light saber indicates a Jedi Consular, a Jedi who preferre to reflect on the mysteries of the Force and fight the dark side at its heart.
28:44 🤣I'm so glad no one managed to spoil that for you 39:22 Yes, that was just a cheek smooch 🤣 As far as Leia saying she always knew, I think she means she felt a connection to Luke deep down from the moment they met, but didn't realize what it meant until Luke gave a name to that connection. She didn't knowingly kiss her brother on the mouth 😛 I hope you'll enjoy the prequels as much as you enjoyed these. I do think you should check out some of the Legends novels eventually. They aren't canon anymore, but a lot of them are worth reading, and there is a certain redheaded badass in them that you should meet.
George Lucas did not knowingly have Leia kiss her brother like that because at the time they weren't siblings. That relationship was invented in this movie.
On how Anakin became a force ghost is non other than Obi Wan. Briefly after Anakin closed his eyes, he felt that he was going to truly die however he heard a voice it was his master. Anakin wanted to apologize to Obi Wan after everything, however Obi Wan told him to shut up and listen. Obi Wan wanted to teach Anakin one last thing and help him exist after death before his consciousness truly died. Anakin asked why, Obi Wan explained you ended the emperor. Anakin thought he can see his children again and so he accepted and did his training in that brief second. After Luke burned Vaders armor, three spirits were watching him and eventually he got to meet them. It was his two masters Obi Wan, Yoda and finally the third spirit non other than his father Anakin Skywalker when he was young Jedi hero.
What an emotional ride 😂 Loved every second of it. Tears and laughter through the entire episode! This series was a great idea for the channel. Can't wait for the prequels
Its worth noting that Sith operate by The Rule of Two. One Master, one Apprentice. Sith expect the Apprentice to challenge the Master, and the survivor of that duel is Master, and a new Apprentice is sought. Here, the Emperor expects Vader to try to kill him, at some point. And of course, the Emperor believes he will win that combat, in part because he knows Vader's suit is weak against his Force Lightning. But the two of them are working together to turn Luke. If Luke turned, Vader would have to try to kill the Emperor immediately. The Emperor repeatedly referencing Luke as "my new apprentice" is a warning to Vader the Emperor knows this, and that the Emperor plans to win. 49:53 In the theatrical release, Vader is silent here, which made for a much more powerful scene. You can almost see Anakin under the mask, gritting his teeth and fighting to overcome decades of Dark Side influence
Even at the end Yoda was a loving teacher who was concerned about his student. You can hear tge despair & hurt in his voice when he says that Luke wasn't ready for the burden. He's essentially saying "I'm sorry for putting so much on your shoulders and that I can't help you when you're going to need it most"
Bravo Kim! Truly a great reaction to the original Trilogy. THIS is true Star Wars and you totally got it. The anticipation you now have is what all the OT Fans had for the next 16 years prior to the Prequels beginning. Luckily you don't have to wait 16 years for it.
I'd love to watch along with a TON of StarWars content. You're super entertaining and the editing is top notch. And it's really fun watching with someone new to it all. The Prequels, The Sequels, the animated content, the Disney shows, the canon video games (you'd LOVE Cal Kestis). I'm here for it!
When Leia sensed Luke hanging for dear life in Empire Strikes Back. Thats how he figured it out. And yes Vader was holding back because of the conflict within him. He wanted Luke to beat him.
Kim, your reaction to Princess Leia's skimpy outfit was exactly the reaction I was having in my little Junior High school brain when I saw it. Hehe, I love your reactions. Your reactions, dear lady, are just a total hoot to watch. Thank you.
You definitely NEED to play the KOTOR games now! The first one is made by the same group who did Mass Effect and Dragon Age, and have a lot of the same voice actors, and they're just a darned good story! Plus there are no spoilers for when you eventually do the Prequels as they take place 1000 years before it and have no connection to the Skywalker clan.
I don't know if I've ever been so excited for someone to watch the prequels, I think you'll get a lot of the answers you want and have a lot of new characters and weird stuff to discover.
This movie has always been my favorite. You have such a fun, dynamic personality. It made your reactions that much more enjoyable to watch. And yes, while the prequels don't quite have the magic of the originals, they're still worth watching.
Not my favorite Star Wars entry but still plenty to love. - The emotional conclusion to Luke and his father's conflict. - The bike chase when the Rebels first arrive on Endor. - The space portion of the Battle of Endor. - And personally the conclusion of Wedge Antilles' character arc in this this trilogy. He started off being intimidated by the size of the first Death Star and needing to abandon his attack run, to being the only Rebel Pilot to successfully trip an Imperial Walker on Hoth, to finally leading his own squadron in the attack on the second Death Star and being one of the pilots to fire the kill shots that destroyed it. Not bad for a "minor" character. Am looking forward to any additional Star Wars reactions you post! When you watch the prequels (Episodes 1-3) I can't recommend watching The Clone Wars enough, it opens up the wider world of Star Wars TV and lays the groundwork for stories The Mandalorian picks up on :)
Totally agree about Wedge. I've always been aware that he is the only minor character to appear in all 3 movies, but he deserves more attention... from me in particular.
@@UTU49 I know in most X-Wing video games over the years he's one of if not the player character so game developers at least have given him the attention he deserves.
Han was just hanging out at Jabba's palace, chilling out for a while. No biggie. Jabba can't run but he can move really fast if you drop him from high enough up... Yoda never says Luke has to kill Vader, only confront him. Its Luke, and Obi-Wan, who take that to mean kill. Luke confronts Vader and completes Yoda's trial before he ever meets the Emperor.
Thank You for helping me relive this masterpiece! When I 1st watched it was by far the best movie I had ever seen and it is still one of the best! The impression I always got about the darkside is that it is like a very addictive drug and that is why once you start down the dark path it is very very difficult to change back and in a metaphorical sense alchoal and drugs do turn people into someone different.
that's how i think about it, too. Once you start mind tricking the pizza delivery guy, then it's your co-worker, then your boss's boss, then the authorities, then the governor, then the chancellor, "then hey, why dont **I** become chancellor?! Chancellor?! Screw elections....EMPEROR! in time, you start thinking of people as insects and start wondering why you're letting insects tell you what to do. And MOST importantly, once you see people as insects, can EVER go back to how you were before? "forever will it dominate your path."
Luke couldn't kill the emperor because it's not the way of a Jedi, Jedi can't act out of emotion and can't attack unarmed. The Emperor was looking for a replacement for Darth Vader as his apprentice, and the Emperor and Vader are members of the Sith Order (opposition to the Jedi Order in some way), who have existed for many thousands of years according to the Rule of Two, which states that there can only be two Sith - the master and the apprentice, a master to embody the power of the dark side, and a apprentice to reach out to him, when a apprentice becomes stronger than a master, he challenges him, kills him and takes his place, taking a new apprentice, the Emperor was simultaneously looking for a replacement for Vader with someone younger and more powerful and he was afraid of him, because Vader could find himself a secret disciple and try to kill the Emperor by taking his place. By the way, in the very name of Darth Vader, Darth is the title of a member of the Order of the Sith, so for example the emperor has the name Darth Sidious, but you will learn more about it in the prequels You may also notice that the Jedi and the Sith have different force abilities, if in general terms, the Jedi use defensive abilities that can rarely cause direct damage, while the Sith use dark side abilities, such as force strangulation, force lightning. In theory, the Jedi can use them too, but this means direct use of the dark side, which will intoxicate the mind and after which it is difficult to stop, not to mention that it goes against the Jedi code
I interpret the "forever will it dominate your path" line to mean that you can only go forward. There is no going back, your past will always be a part of you, no matter what you do. The closest you can do to going back is to go towards something similar to the past.
Thanks for sharing your reaction. Good catch on Luke's dark wardrobe. The behind the scenes says that he intentionally wore white in New Hope to show his innocence. He was in more of a grey and brown in Empire to show how he was becoming more worldly. In Jedi, he was dabbling with the dark side. Things like choking out the guards at Jabba's palace is very dark side. In the end, as he was pulling Vader towards the shuttle to escape, you can see the white inside his black top to show that even though he was using the dark side, he was still good all the time.
"I'm still in shock"...Yes a lot to process. This is why so many of us watched these movies several times in the theater. And we had to wait THREE years between each one, but that led to plenty of conversations and speculation between. There's so much there that you catch something new each time.
Incredible to sew how Kim as a first time Star Wars viewer captures so well the emotions and the deep meaning of the story and its characters!! I would love to see her reaction for to the prequels as well!!!
By the way the actor that comes at the end of the return of the jedi is the same actor that comes in the prequels. all your questions will be answered. the first two are a little bit slow and not as good as the originals but all that will make up for the last movie Revenge of the Sith which could end up being your favorite movie.
“If it’s Anakin Skywalker’s son why do you feel like Luke is you’re son?” I’ve watched this movies near 100 times and never thought of it this way. You were cooking
Love your reactions to this trilogy. There was a clue in Empire as to who Leia was to Luke and to the Force. She was able to hear him call her from the weather vein.
Most Star Wars fans say that Empire Strikes Back is their favorite. But if Return of the Jedi was even an inch less epic than it was, the entire trilogy would have been a failure. As an old school fan, my favorite is Return of the Jedi. Episodes I, II, and III weren't my favorite when they first came out, but they've grown on me a lot. Princess Leia is never given enough storyline in any of the Star Wars films/series; she is always a secondary character. I hope Disney manages to rectify this and not f**** it up in the process.
Your investment and giddiness is the best. This is how pure enjoyment of Star Wars is. And despite some rough parts I think you’ll enjoy the prequels. The character with the helmet and jet pack you were interested in is Boba Fett, a Mandalorian bounty hunter. People were obsessed with him when he first appeared. Also the reason for the green lightsaber is because Luke had to build a new one after losing his father’s in Cloud City. Building a lightsaber is a right of passage of a Jedi.
Yes, all of your questions will be answered in the prequels. And your heart will break. When Episode I was about to come out George Lucas said, "The original trilogy was just the redemption of Anakin Skywalker. The REAL STORY is yet to be told."
The dance number at Jabba's palace was added later. The original scene just had the band playing a much more 80s kind of disco song, more like the cantina band in Ep.4. There were no dancers or extended musical number, the band was just grooving along to provide music for the dancers.
Yeah. The original version of the dance number only had three band members all operated by puppetry and playing a more catchy number called Lapti Nek. Not too wild about the 1997 take, but there's one thing I find cool. In 1983, Jabba opens the trap door, the dancer falls, and that's the last we see of her. The scene with her in the pit was added in 1997, but the cool thing about it is that it was filmed in that year...with the same actress who hadn't changed in those 14 years.
Prequels? Don't forget to leave a LIKE on the video! That really helps me out and let me know you're enjoying these reactions!
But OF COURSE, my dear... We are all expecting for this! You will just need to avoid the Sequels, obviously!!
PLEASE prequels! Your Star Wars reactions are the best I've seen!
May the Force be with You, Kim.😎
revenge of the sith reaction is where the fun begins
Yes! 100% do the prequels! It’s very good
One of the most satisfying lines in all of Star Wars.
"I am Jedi, like my father before me."
Truly iconic no matter how you watch the saga.
Next to jabba free us or die while on the plank 😂
Kim casually dropping the hardest Darth Vader edit
Ikr 😂
Kim, congrats to you. You are now, officially, a Star Wars fan.
This is one of the most genuine reactions I've seen to this movie, and the fact that you shed tears at the final act of this was really gripping. Trust me when I say this: you haven't seen anything yet. Onward to the Prequels!
"I will stop with the simping this episode" she lied as easily as she breathed
@@KimEllendale Omg the Kim-oji 😂😂
Let’s admit it, Kim is a simp and we’re here for it
@@nobleconsejera5278 Honestly Kim's simping is half the fun. 😆🤣😂
Also the real world reason was that originally it was supposed to be a new blue one but you couldnt make it out against the blue sky in the scene he uses it for the first time
That's also why the blue lightsabers went from Cyan to Sea Blue in the prequels.
Carrie Fisher herself wanted Leia to soften up in this movie. She didn't enjoy playing the "bitchy Leia" (her words) in The Empire Strikes Back.
"This is not a thirsty episode."
We totally believe you.
Yup, totally believable. ;-)
But compared to the first two, she wasn't as thirsty?
Wait till you watch the prequels you get Anakin story and the first one ain't that heartbreaking but the second and third you better get ready to cry your eyes out
@@mikejankowski6321 yeah they originally thought it might just be a once off wasn't even called episode 4 till later was just starwars at first
one of my favorite things is that when Luke says "Your over confidence is your weakness" the emperor doesn't deny it, he just points out Lukes.
He didn't deny it because he knew what Luke means - incoming attack, but it was all part of the plan, so he just ignored it
I cry at the death of Darth Vader every time, it's nice to see another person tear up at the emotional moment. Can't wait to see our girl watch all the Star Wars.
Jabba may be a bad person, but he’s a wonderful human being!
He really is... Seeing as how some humans are...
And a good friend
I see what you did there
Clever 😊
He’s a crime lord.
Glad to see someone also “appreciates” Leia’s outfit. Carrie Fisher was beautiful and will be missed RIP.
Carrie designed the outfit herself, the story goes.
These are some of the best Star Wars reactions I’ve seen in a long time I honestly can’t wait for you to see the prequel trilogy
That's why I wish they hadn't reused the all black outfit in the Mandalorian series. They completely missed the purpose of his outfit in ROTJ.
"Am I into dudes with helmets?" Oh just wait until you discover The Mandalorian

Great reaction! Now imagine having to wait from 1983 to 1999 to have all your questions BEGIN to be answered!
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I can’t wait for the Prequel reactions! The third one is my favorite one of the entire franchise
Just wanted to thank you for your time & effort.
These have been some of my favorite Star Wars reactions ever🙂
(not to mention your spontaneous disdain for Disney's travesty, the force is strong with you :p! )
I think you will love the prequels, they answer so many questions you asked and have much more complex plot intricacies too, which you seem to love. You've gained a sub and made my day
Such a wonderful trilogy of movies. Return of the Jedi is still one of the greatest endings for a trilogy ever.
In case you’re wondering, the little tribe bears are called Ewoks. They instantly became fan favorites and got their own movie spin-offs and cartoon show back in the mid-80s! I’m not kidding!
The big monster in jabba's palace is a Rancor this one specifically is named Pateesa.
Interesting take on Leia and Luke 🤔 And thank you so much 🥰
Andor is my favorite work in the Star Wars franchise, it surpassed Knights of the Old Republic for me. Go watch it now!
Actually in the books Luke turns to the Dark side and becomes the new emperor, and Leia is the only one who is able to change him back to the light.
It is so beautiful to see someone fall in love with my favourite movies!
Oh and a small fun fact: The lead writer of the Mass Effect series, Drew Karpyshyn also wrote some of the official Star Wars expanded universe novels ^^
Drew is such a great writer. I wish he’d write more expanded universe books for Mass Effect of the major events before Humanity joined the galaxy
Lets also not forget he wrote one of the best Star Wars games of all time.
when he said the emporor is not as forgiving as I am, the guy literally gulpied. he was like oh F*******
Yeah, it's one of my favorite lines. Ever.
Darth Vader: "You don't know the power of the Dark Side."
This could be interpreted as a threat, but I think it's actually an apology.
Your reaction to the brother sister relationship was priceless!
Ah, you're gonna love the prequels! xD

As always, stellar editing, amazing reaction!
I'm glad you pause to comment instead of trying to talk over a scene and miss something!
So great to see someone enjoying the first trilogy for the first time so many decades later.
Seeing you having happy tears for seeing young Anakin as a Force ghost... *this* is why I dig Star Wars.

Her edits are amazing, her intros just 🤌🏿🤌🏿
Saw it with my brothers and dad on Opening Day...when Darth chucked Palpy into the reactor, the entire theater erupted into deafening thunderous applause. it was the most amazing thing.
Simp away, young Jedi, simp away! I found your channel via Star Wars Ev IV (A New Hope). Such enthusiasm. Equally enjoyed Empire strikes Back and finally! Finally we have Return!!! So psyched.
10:37 “That poor girl!” Exactly, her name was Oola, tricked into slavery, and she didn’t deserve that 😞
The best part of this reaction was when you stopped being horny for 2 minutes to contemplate twincest xD.
"I've got to save you."
"You already have, Luke."
Gets me every time.
Such a lovely, genuine, heartfelt reaction to a satisfying conclusion to a great trilogy! (Now imagine being a preschooler when you saw the first one, and approaching the end of primary school by the time you saw Jedi... That was my experience! 😅 I am practically one with The Force myself - my son even waited a week to be born on May The Fourth 💕)
We love you, Kim.. (You Know!)
I missed this during my move. I didn't even realize you'd posted this video until I saw TPM had been posted.
I'm so happy you are enjoying Star Wars. 😁 There's a reason it's so widely beloved.
Seeing Anakin's Force ghost at the end is always a great moment, such a great yet bittersweet way to end his character arc 😭
As always, I enjoy and appreciate how invested in these movies you are, you're reactions remain top notch!
Also, good catch with Luke wearing black to symbolize the theme with him being tempted and pulled towards the dark side 😉
After the Emperor is defeated, there is now a visible flap of white on his clothing to represent both he and especially Vader breaking through that darkness. 😄
Additionally, I kind of recently looked into it, and apparently Leia wasn't planned to be Luke's sister until this movie. Mind you, he was always supposed to have a twin sister, but it just wasn't supposed to be Leia. Apparently they wanted to make another trilogy about Luke looking for his sister, but because they were unsure if they could do that in the future, they decided to tie up all loose ends in this movie instead. Ah well, what are you gonna do 🤷♀️
I'm so happy you've been enjoying the movies and I look forward to your reaction to the prequels ❤
Ah, the "who is that" moment because of the changes.
@@blechtic Yeah, that is confusing on a first watch too 😅
The blue lightsaber fell in that bottomless pit in Cloud City when he got his hand cut off. Luke has constructed a new one since.
luke's lightsaber he had in the 2 previous movies was lost in cloud city. Luke built his own between movies and it was green (in part because green would show up better against the blue sky)
20:47
Blue light saber indicates a Jedi Guardian, a Jedi who use the Force on a more physical level. Green light saber indicates a Jedi Consular, a Jedi who preferre to reflect on the mysteries of the Force and fight the dark side at its heart.
28:44 🤣I'm so glad no one managed to spoil that for you
39:22 Yes, that was just a cheek smooch 🤣 As far as Leia saying she always knew, I think she means she felt a connection to Luke deep down from the moment they met, but didn't realize what it meant until Luke gave a name to that connection. She didn't knowingly kiss her brother on the mouth 😛
I hope you'll enjoy the prequels as much as you enjoyed these. I do think you should check out some of the Legends novels eventually. They aren't canon anymore, but a lot of them are worth reading, and there is a certain redheaded badass in them that you should meet.
Yeah, that’s how I’ve always taken that as well. She felt a strong connection with Luke, but she just didn’t know why.
Oh yes, the Thrawn Trilogy is such a good way to get more Star Wars content!
Agreed. And some of the novels set during the prequels were awesome, especially the Republic Commando series by Karen Traviss. So much Mando culture.
George Lucas did not knowingly have Leia kiss her brother like that because at the time they weren't siblings. That relationship was invented in this movie.
@@mikejankowski6321 I'm referring to an in-universe explanation.
Leia's growth was her learning to open up herself. Trained by her loving foster Father Bail, she always put duty first early on.
It‘s the favorite OG episode of almost all new gen reactors. Wildly underrated. For me it‘s up there with Empire.

When you watch the prequels (Episodes 1-3) I can't recommend watching The Clone Wars enough, it opens up the wider world of Star Wars TV and lays the groundwork for stories The Mandalorian picks up on :)
wedge is star wars best secret badass id love them to make an animated rogue squadron tv show so we really get to see him kicking ass
Totally agree about Wedge.

Yoda never says Luke has to kill Vader, only confront him. Its Luke, and Obi-Wan, who take that to mean kill. Luke confronts Vader and completes Yoda's trial before he ever meets the Emperor.
Interesting point about the actual confrontation.
Luke: "Vader is on that ship!"
Han: How do you konw it?"
Luke: "I can hear his Theme music!"
By the way, in the very name of Darth Vader, Darth is the title of a member of the Order of the Sith, so for example the emperor has the name Darth Sidious, but you will learn more about it in the prequels
You may also notice that the Jedi and the Sith have different force abilities, if in general terms, the Jedi use defensive abilities that can rarely cause direct damage, while the Sith use dark side abilities, such as force strangulation, force lightning.

That was orginally meant to be the Jedi Uniform, before they changed their mind while making the prequals and gave them the robes.
"I'm still in shock"...Yes a lot to process. This is why so many of us watched these movies several times in the theater. And we had to wait THREE years between each one, but that led to plenty of conversations and speculation between. There's so much there that you catch something new each time.
When Vader dies, the play the Imperial Death March again, only in a minor key… really adds to the emotion of the moment. The music in this is amazing
One of my new favourite reactors of Star Wars on RUclips. 😊
“If it’s Anakin Skywalker’s son why do you feel like Luke is you’re son?”
I’ve watched this movies near 100 times and never thought of it this way.
Omg, top tier intro to the video 😂👌🏻🤩 Super excited for the rest now!
@@DanSolo0119 Yes that was a real nice touch.
