A correctly made and fitted corset is *not* uncomfortable and *does not* hamper breathing. Tight lacing was a high fashion thing amongst certain classes during parts of the Victorian era (and some people choose to tight lace today) but stays and corsets were supportive undergarments that were comfortable and functional for most people most of the time.
True, but I also believe them overly tightening Elizabeths to the point of discomfort as it sounds like it was new to Elizabeth and probably her maid at the time, although certainly not the world at large. Not to mention I imagine there were people improperly tightening them throughout history, just not as the norm.

I would love to see him going on one last adventure, to give his character thematic closure on his own terms, but if he’s not in the next one, might as well keep the franchise dead.
9 months after upload but I didn’t see anyone answer this in the comments. Orlando Bloom didn’t really go back and forth between this and LOTR even though return of the king came out the same year. The lord of the rings series was filmed all at once before 2001. They spent 18 months filming it all in New Zealand and would go back for a little bit every year for pick up shots. Any time I see it I’ll point it out. Elizabeth is wearing Stays, a precursor to the Corset, that were not designed to be tight laced. They work as support for the bust while keeping the fashionable silhouette (most of which was achieved by padding the hips and bum, not restricting the waist and chest). Even in the height of tightlacing in the Victorian era, corsets weren’t that restrictive and breathing was fine (especially if a corset was custom made, if Elizabeth were a Victorian woman she still wouldn’t have fainted, her family has the money to get a properly fitted garment). The heat is the only reason I can see her actually just passing out. There are many professional costume/fashion historians on RUclips who go into a lot more depth.

I’m way late to seeing this, but I need to point out, the corsets themselves weren’t the problem. As a matter of fact, trying to wear one of those 18th century gowns without a corset would be the equivalent of wearing weights on your chest and your back while trying to run a marathon. In Elizabeth’s case, since she was so high status, she probably would have been amongst the few that tightlaced. Only high society ladies tightlaced, because only high society ladies could afford to lose their breath in the name of fashion.

Enjoyed your Reaction. Pirates were the original gangsters of the seas, then came the Outlaws (cowboys) of the Wild West and the European immigrant gangs of New York (Irish, Italian, Russian) mafia, later we get the west and east coast bangers of the inner cities. Every generation has their rebellious criminal elements that refuse to live within the confines of the societal rule of law. Pirates of the Caribbean humanized and fantasized the stereotypical pirate life adventures. All of the actors were important in keeping the franchise going but only Johnny Depp could have pulled off Jack Sparrow’s sarcastic wit with a wounded heart and sad eyes persona. I’ve been watching Johnny since Elm Street and 21 Jump Street; he’s still the same guy even as life and circumstances have aged his experiences and acting ability; I saw the man behind the actor’s career inside the courtroom. He’s good at displaying what he’s thinking through facial expression alone. I’ve noticed that You, young man, are also good at drawing viewers in with your facial expressions and looks that display your thoughts without words. I’m just sayin… if you were an actor, I’d watch ya work. Keep up the channel you two, you’re both good reactors because you’re fully engaged. You’ve made a GenX fan.

"Take what ya can, give nothin' back...." I absolutely DO NOT care what anyone says, Johnny Depp was and IS the only actor who can effectively give Captain Jack Sparrow his drunken smarminess and swagger.
This film was released in 2003, when Lord of The Rings ended with The Returno of The King
Oh got you okay thanks ! He was busy around then ! Good for him love Orlando as an actor 💪🏽
I love the chemistry between you two, I wish you all the best forever and ever ......❤️❤️ Oh by the way, she's beautiful, take care of her 😑
Hell no. No Johnny, no pirates for me thank you.
Big facts !
@@mrflickswatches The first 3 movies are exceptional. 4 and 5 are like non canon movies for me. 4 is good but 5 is incredibly bad and that s just because of disney who fired gore verbinski after the third. Shame on them
If Johnny Depp wasn't in this would I watch it no. Johnny Depp's the star ⭐
Yes that's Kano from the original mortal Kombat movie
If you enjoyed Lord of the Rings you would enjoy my favorite movie Willow starring Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer.
1. Willow
2. John Carpenter's The Thing
3. The Return of the Living Dead
4. Best of the Best
&
5. Geronimo 1993 TV movie starring Joseph Runningfox.
So the connection of jack and Elizabeth is when they met as kids

Rip to pops 🙏🏼 and I agree my boy is not in it I’m probably not watching
Could you give me a hand?🤣
If the Pirates can walk under water why were they so terrified of Elezabeth dropping the pendant?
"What scene is more iconic than that?"
How about "10 year's you've been carryin that pistol and now you waste your shot." "He didnt waste it"
Also I appreciate a good pun, but that was terrible. A better one would be Looks like he's got his hands full or he really didn't need a helping hand
Great reaction! Btw
I need to see your reaction to "the Dead man's chest"
