the slightly frustrating part about the discourse for me is the disconnect between the draft fan community and the scout community. the draft community and a lot of the media distorted the Celeb vs Maye debate like there ever was one. They break it down statistically, they break it down analytically, they project out drake Mayes skillset to the next level, you lot even talk about contextually and situationally. i think all of this is fair. i even think were all mostly on the same page. where we split is The draft community, you guys, my Brothern, the Dane Bruglers, the matt millers, everyone cares about mechanics and fully realized skillset to varying degrees. no one talking about the differentiators there enough and i'm not saying the Daniels fans are right or wrong i'm saying the way that ranking stacks when people say Daniels is not only Qb3 easily, but he's Qb2, that order says to me, that's where Celeb is separating himself and thats where Jayden is gaining on Maye. IF big IF it plays out this order. if Maye keeps falling and don't be shocked if a few people start saying JJ 3, Maye 4 as well, the draft community is missing that scouts are stacking that cluster by the smallest details and what's going on there in my opinion is mechanically and footwork wise Maye is lowkey boom or bust, where, Jayden is more reliable and consistent, and JJ's pro style experience helps him more than most "experts" and analyst fully understand.

    • @tvtda1
      @tvtda1 3 месяца назад

@@mayowaerinle6541 i'll put it this way its like Jayden is gonna play in the league for 10 years, will he be a top 15 QB? will he be a backup? we don't know, we just know he'll definitely have a job in the NFL as a QB. JJ's film is more translatable than Mayes, wild as that is to say and there room for his profile to rise. Maye is picked apart and the issues with him none of his biggest supporters want to acknowledge are catching up to him and if ur a gm and you don't wanna take a risk, you might pass on him. granted i think it's deathly scary and might haunt you forever but thats just the reality of this here.

The thing to keep in mind about Washington is that Harris swears he doesn't influence decisions and just wants to be exposed. Peters is brand new rebuilding a bad team, I find it unlikely that he'd part with additional 1's to move up one spot.

  • @tehmpus

Bears fan here. I agree with Trevor that Chicago could trade down for a haul just to move down 1 spot in this draft, then select Drake Maye. Trading down a second time with the #9 pick also makes sense. We should move down to #12 and take Latu there. Defensive End needs to be drafted as we've already invested cap in Sweat. In the 2nd round with a pick acquired for Justin Fields, I like WR Roman Wilson.

Kinda depends how far you go with which tackles "could play guard". For me, I have Mims, Latham, and Olu as top tackles that i wouldn't move inside.
Fuaga would be my top "guard". Suamataia would be second. Both guys are seen by most as tackles, and I like Kingsley outside but push come to shove I'd be good with him at guard too, so athletic and versatile. Fuaga inside would be a mauler.
Then I'd have Barton I think, followed by Jordan Morgan. JPJ and Beebe would be next for me.

    • @tvtda1

The reason opinion splits is its a really good interior ol class like, what makes Jackson more value than most others is he can play all three spots where most swing guys can't, honestly he might have Elgton Jenkins level upside and if that's the case dis don't be surprised if he can play tackle too and if that's the case most teams just don't have him high enough lol. he's a top 5 guard and a top 5 center. nobody else is really elite at both, i'm on record i don't think him going 5 to the chargers is a terrible pick. i'm overly high on him tbf i just think the range is wide because this area is probably the strength of the draft. Example, my rankings has Haynes #1, powers Johnson #2, Julian pearl #3, van Pran granger #4, Frazier #5. Another dude might have a 5 with some order of Fautanu, Layden Robinson, cooper beebe, Zak Zinter if his medical checks out and graham barton. some people love Javion Cohen or Puni and its like thats not totally like unreasonable either anyway you stack it. i'd think every team had a different order nearly.

If Washington offers both second rounders and next years first to swap picks, I would take it and draft Drake Mayes. He needs to sit for a year behind Justin. Justin's contract runs out nest year and he goes somewhere else. The Bears get a compensatory third rounder which is about what they will get for trading Justin now.

Stafford is still under contract for 3 years with an out after 2 and their future after him is unknown. Learning behind Stafford could obviously help his development. Also, maybe the Saints as another destination and being able to sit behind Carr for a year or so. Curious on your thoughts.

I keep thinking that drafting players for the singular attribute of speed is a fragile, risky proposition. It's the easiest thing to get nicked during a game, it doesn't last as players age, and players who rely on speed (or, I suspect, strength -- any single attribute) don't anticipate, don't expand their repertoire, and become reluctant to take risks that might diminish their speed. Which is somehow different from "being fast." Is there a way to separate/measure that? Or am I simply wrong.

You gotta go after high caliber players and if you manage to scout well enough to in later rounds also pick up impact players that’s great and that’s how great teams are built but the high end talent matters.

The Vikes and Kirk have been saying this consistently - it's not just a Combine thing. The sticking point appears to be that Kirk wants more guaranteed money and a longer term than Kwesi is prepared to give. The gap has never been big. My guess is that Kwesi is betting that the market for a 36yo QB coming off an Achilles will not be multiple years of guaranteed money, and Kirk will come back.
Kwesi has a strong track record of calling bluffs - ask Michael Pierce, Zadarius Smith, Harrison Smith, Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen, Pat Peterson.

The best hope for the Raiders to move up without mortgaging the future would be to trade Adams to the Jets for pick 10. Then trade pick 10 and 13 to move up to pick 3. Or, stand pat and use pick 13 to trade ahead of Atlanta to get McCarthy.

I don’t understand this talk about Washington going to number one. Every local reporter I’ve talked or heard from says that they’re not moving at all. All local reports from inside the team show that they don’t seem like they’re moving at all. It seems like they’re sticking and picking at two. This seems odd to push this point. I don’t think they’re moving. And by all reports, it doesn’t seem like they want to move.

I can’t see why Washington would trade up to 1, if the bears are moving back to 2, if the Bears want a QB.
Sure, if Washington wants Caleb, they’d want no. 1, but the only way Chicago would trade down is if they didn’t want Caleb (maybe maye or something). If they didn’t, Caleb would fall to them. The only reason to trade up one spot is to remove the threat of someone jumping from behind you -ahead of you.
Now in a world where Chicago loved all 3 QBs, and could threaten to trade with New England, then that’s the only realistic scenario i could see a trade. Otherwise it feels like they’d be fleeced, regardless of how much they’d have to give up.

What about Justin staying in Chicago AND the bears draft a QB? Justin's value isn't high enough for a trade in Poles eyes, so he keeps him AND starts him this year. Let's hit rookie QB develop and learn the system until Justin's contract is up, the franchise tag and trade. Justin still has the locker room so let the team get used to the rookie as a back up and have a easier transition

I could see Russ or Fields going to Indy for cheap as they want a running backup QB, there isn't one in the draft, and they have the money to overpay a guy like that (for one year).

Trevor wants Caleb in Washington so bad and thinks it’s this magical story, but it’s not, as a Washington fan, the last two hometown kids we “brought home” Chase young and Haskins, didn’t work out
And with Adam peters saying you build a team through draft, why would you give up the assets you just got from trading 2 key players to draft Caleb, when Jayden who DQ just called “game-changer” is right there …..
