    • @GodsServant543
      @GodsServant543 5 месяцев назад

@@kev792honestly I’m going to say no. Adonai’s biggest concerns are how good can he consistently run routes, and how consistent is he in effort and take over traits general. He has size, speed, some wiggle, and he makes contested catches. He easily can be a steal of the effort can be maximized.

Polk looks like locked in solid pro to me. If DT Newton slips in the draft trading up for him in 2nd would be what I would be hopinging for after getting hopefully Mims in the 1st.

A positional draft would be an interesting concept to do. Load up the simulator, and take it in turns drafting ONLY one position. You'd be able to get some good conversations going about who's higher on who, and player to team fits impacting where they go. It would only work for those stacked positions like WR or Edge unfortunately so maybe not this year as you've already done those rankings

Really enjoyed this one. The depth of names here that we need to be aware of and some better details to help fans be better prepared and try to fit players in to their specific teams' needs... really helps. I had to go back to your post combine 3 round mock draft and I have to ask for another 3 rounder that better fits the free agent market changes. I feel like this draft class has the depth for almost every team to fill needs and do some best player available picks... except for like the Raiders (real holes at QB, OL and CB), Browns(no pick until 55) and Dolphins(where to start???). I know it is a grind but, the one round all stars is sort of boring at this point. Thanks! And, take care and enjoy!

Hey Trev & Connor. Great job with the show all off-season.
I'm one of the co-hosts of the Thunder Down Under Chargers Podcast in Australia, and this is how I see the WR group this year.
For each of these players, I watched between 3-10 games of coach's film. I'm happy to discuss any or all of them in the comments below. If you think I'm too high or too low on any of 'your guys' let me know!
    Day 1 Grade
1a. Marv Harrison Jnr (Ohio State)
    1b. Malik Nabers (LSU)
    3. Rome Odzune (Washington)
    4a. Adonai Mitchell (Texas)
    4b. Brian Thomas Jnr (LSU)
    Day 2 Grade
    6. Ladd McConkey (Georgia)
    7. Xavier Worthy (Texas)
    8. Xavier Legette (South Carolina)
    9. Troy Franklin (Oregon)
    10. Jermaine Burton (Alabama)
    11a. Roman Wilson (Michigan)
    11b. Ricky Pearsall (Florida)
    13. Ja'Lynn Polk (Washington)
    14. Keon Coleman (Florida State)
    15. Devontez Walker (North Carolina)
    Day 3 Grade
    16. Javon Baker (UCF)
    17. Johnny Wilson (Florida State)
    18. Jamari Thrash (Louisville)
    19. Malik Washington (Virginia)
    20. Anthony Gould (Oregon State)
    21. Malachi Corley (Western Kentucky)
    22. Brenden Rice (USC)
    23. Tahj Washington (USC)
    24. Jacob Cowing (Arizona)
    25. Jalen McMillan (Washington)
    Sleeper: Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint (Georgia)
Malachi Corley is probably my most controversial ranking and it was a hard one for me. Here were my notes on him:
    • 22.0 yo, 5”11, 215 pounds (Deebo comparison, 5”11, 214 pounds)
    • Four seasons: 49 games, 3,035 yds, 29 TDs
    • 2023 stats:
    o 12 games, 79 catches, 985 yds, 11 TDs
    o 82.6 Receiving Grade
    o 64.9 Run Blocking Grade
    o 7.1% Drop Rate (5 Drops in 2023). 4.8% for career
    o 23.5% Contested Catch Rate
    o 80.7 Grade v Man Coverage
    o 15 Missed Tackles Forced
    o 8.6 YAC/Reception (T-18th in college football)
o 330 Screen Yards (1st in college football)
    • Didn’t test at Combine (no explanation). Apparently ran a 4.47s 40-Yard Dash at his Pro Day (cf, Deebo Samuel who ran a 4.48s at the Combine).
    • Watched games v Auburn (2022), Troy, LA Tech, and Ohio State (2023). Deliberately watched games against better schools. Don’t care as much if he dominated against lesser competition.
    • Thickly built slot receiver who was also used out wide in stacked formations. Average speed and burst off the line of scrimmage.
    • Hands are really bad (doesn’t haul anything in downfield if there’s contact) and route running isn’t nearly as tight as the Day 2 slot receivers. Ability to make people miss in space is also a tier below them but he is still a YAC weapon. Not helped by poor QB play. A real handful to bring down though given strength profile.
    • Didn’t demonstrate on tape that he’ll be able to beat man coverage at NFL level. More of a “get the ball into his hands” guy (end arounds/screens) and see what he can do after the catch because he’s tough to bring down (albeit not elusive).
    • Takes snaps off on running plays.
    • Overall more of a boring watch than I was expecting given all the hype. Overpowered smaller schools but I wasn’t convinced that his skillset will translate well to NFL level. Aspects of his game are enticing, but I would rather bank on a more complete player for the position.

I think the really interesting part of this historically good class is outside of AD Mitchell I don’t really see any clear paths for guys to become true X receivers outside of the top 3. It’s just after that there’s a ton of guys that can be high level WR2/3s in different roles across the formation. I do wonder though with like 20 guys that fit that bill if one of them ends up growing out of that role and becoming an X guy.

Johnny Wilson pry falls, may be a Udfa but man ..Guy is a Weapon. You get in the RedZone you can sub out you 5-8 Space WR for a 6-7 Monster who can go Wayyyy up. 6-7 vs 5-10 CBs. And Wilson can jump high, Runs 4.5. Use WRs as Weapons and this guy is that. A 400yard WR, who has 12TDs a year. 💯 Needs the right OC-WR coach combo. But the guy is the closest thing we have seen to Megatron. He's a Prospect over player, but with a 9.89 Ras that Ceiling is MegaTron. Again tho, 4th-5th Rd adding a guy who can get you TDs in the RedZone would be smart. He doesn't need to know routes really. Streak. Run Straight at 4.5 then jump up at 6-7 with insane length over CBs who are at most 6-2, usually 5-10. Have him jump up for 50/50 🏈 in the end zone all day. Some the coaching I've seen this year is just... really odd. Florida State is the new Clemson, but them, Texas are a few teams that the talent coming out just wasn't used right imo. Texas has a 360Pd 3tech who is pry NT1 in this class and a NT who is a top 3 3Tech in this class maybe. 😂😂😂🤷🏻 Nfl coaching is huge for these guys.

Me and my friend ranked some WRs for our podcast, we don’t work with it so we didn’t had time to watch everyone, so we selected some, and my ranking of the players I watched was:
    1. MHJ
    2. Malik Nabers
    3. Rome Odunze
    (Huge gap)
    4. BTJ
    5. Xavier Legette
    6. Adonai Mitchell
    7. Troy Franklin
    8. Ladd McConkey
    (Smaller gap)
    9. Xavier Worthy
    10. Ricky Pearsall
    11. Roman Wilson

I think Adonai Mitchell will answer the "how much does he want it" questions with a resounding 100% because I think he has shown himself to be an immensely clutch and high-character receiver. He scored the go ahead touchdown for Georgia in the 2021 natty and the 2022 semifinal against Ohio State alongside that insane body-bending catch for Texas against Washington to keep that game close. This dude turns it on when the lights are brightest. But then read his letter to Texas fans and Georgia fans that he wrote when he declared for the draft. He showed an immense appreciation for both universities and the people around him. I get that on the film he shows an inconsistent stamina and route tempo, but off the field he has so many quality intangibles that have me confident he'll continue to dedicate himself to refine his craft and polish the details of his game. Plus, you gotta remember that he missed basically a whole year of football missing the vast majority of the 2022 season, after a year where he was only a rotational player as a freshman. He's going to pick up on some of those details just by getting more snaps and experience at the NFL level

Then why he is so uninterested when he chooses???
Tape don’t lie. And teams will be cautious or completely turn off.
Too much talent elsewhere to risk a high pick.

Javon Baker is my favorite non top 10 (or hell 15 in this class) player at their position. I think he's plenty smooth, has ENOUGH speed, has good enough hands. 6'1 200 is not small, just not HUGE. But... His arm length, his hand size... That is top of the class compared to many. Between the tracking, the willingness to come back to the QB to get/be open, the perfect all rounder WR who just isn't TOP TIER athlete to be a number 1. Otherwise, I think he's got all the tools to be an impact number 3 day 1 and develop into a 2!

Greatly appreciate the video and the rankings. However I came away with a feeling that this list was done more from the heart rather than the head. McMillion/Thrash are both extremely good tradecraft players. They would fit with any NFL and could start in week 1. But a players like Coleman/Corley have some good talent, but obviously need a lot of work to step it up to NFL level. I have one question, and I am serious with this, does the NFL value raw players that much more and hope that they can coach them up?

For context Johnny Wilson has better combine times and measurables than Keon Coleman. I hated Wilson during this process and moved him to TE but rewatching everyone I’m a lot higher on him than I was. I think he could be a move around weapon in an offense more than just being a WR or TE

    My top 10 (right now):
    1: Marvin Harrison Jr
    2. Rome Odunze (my favorite player in the draft)
    3. Malik Nabers (Fun Fact: according to Dane brugler, he is the nephew of former Chargers FB Gabe Nabers. Who is also one of Herbert’s best friends, former roommate, and together they were the Brisket Boys)
    4. Brian Thomas Jr (dare i say closer to Nabers and Odunze tier than the next group of guys?
    5. Ladd McConkey
    6.Adonai Mitchell
    7. Troy Franklin
    8. Keon Coleman
    9. Roman Wilson
    10. Ricky Pearsall
