      Not to be a contrarian or anything but Chris Simms is usually pretty good at assessing QB talent. He was really high on Mahomes, had Lamar and Allen as top 2 in 2018, Love above Tua, Stroud over Young, etc. not saying he’s 100%, but still pretty good most of the time.

    • @Rawrbagels
      @Rawrbagels Месяц назад

      @@vsauce4678 love Johnny, there are questions about his size and ability as a run defender.
      Bowers has questions about his size and run blocking.
      Alt is one of the 3 players I have ranked above him, but the NFL does have questions about how top heavy he is, though that’s a real big nitpick.
      Harrison is another I have above him, but even he has questions about his ability to create YAC.
      Odunze has questions about his ability to work out of the slot and on short met routes.
      And Nabers is considered to be a slot receiver with questions on routes for a true “X”.
      Fantanu lacks length, punch, and sometimes oversets.
      Williams is the last guy I have above him but he has questions about his ability to compete with top level competition considering his big college losses, and how he will adjust to an NFL style system with how much he plays out of structure.
      Quinyon has essentially no questions about his ability. Maaaaaybe that he might sometimes commit his hips to early so he might be vulnerable to double moves? But it doesn’t really show on tape.
      I have him ranked 4th in the class. Only corner to come out recently I had rated as high as him was Sauce. He’s a preposterous project being down ranked because of his school.

    IMO, Brock Bowers is like Dallas Clark. He can be played in any formation; he can line up at almost any spot in those formations, and he can do a lot of different things from all of those alignments.
    The Colts were almost exclusively in 11 or 12 Personnel during Clark's era, but he allowed them to do so many different things from within those Personnel groupings. Were they playing it like 11 or 12 when they were in 12 personnel? Were they running the ball with 2 TEs? Or were they spreading it out with 3 WRs? Were they playing it like 11 or 10 when they were in 11 personnel? Were they running the ball with 1 TE? Or were they spreading you out with 4 Wide? It made it difficult for DCs to get the right personnel on the field. Unless you had hybrid defenders, you'd always be wrong.
    IMO, Bowers could be the same type of player if he goes to the right offense. I'd love to see him play somewhere that's going to move him all over the place and utilize him as a matchup weapon in the pass game. I really don't want to see him play in the Shanahan offense. I know Kyle is good at using weapons like Bowers, but most other coaches that run that system don't get a lot out of these types of weapons.

    I think the way you broke down Bowers was spot on. However, I do think that does hurt his draft ability.
    At the end of the day he is a big slot. Tight ends that can do it all get drafted in the top 10. Bowers is not that guy. He is still a bonafide 1st round pick, but it would be hard to justify him in the top 10. The Chargers would not take him past on their scheme for example.
    I think his career output will be closer to Zach Ertz than Travis Kelce

    Tbh I worry that Brock Bowers may have issues separating in the NFL. Chris Simms is the one who came out with Drake Maye at 6 lol but I can only see Caleb really having any reason for anyone to put him above Maye. Tbh I think all the Qbs from 2-6 have different strengths and weaknesses and even tho I think Daniels wud be considered the better prospect but Maye has traits comparable to Justin Herbert.

    Two Lions notes based on your gems. The Legette story is all adversity and Detroit LOVES dudes that have a story and have overcome it. Also, I know you brought up McCormick to Detroit as a possibility and I absolutely see it. You kind of waffled about them needing one, but no Jonah Jackson at left guard and with the retirement rumors about Ragnow this offseason there is absolutely a need for a guy who could play guard now and possibly center later.

    The Drake Maye criticism I’ve heard from both Simms & Orlovsky independently was to do with his throwing mechanics, primarily his footwork.
    They both seem to think he can’t play his rookie season & needs to just focus on re-building his footwork & mechanics from the ground up.
    They both seem to believe this was the main reason for his inconsistency?
    Simms specifically said he locks out his front leg, which he didn’t understand why or how he functions doing that?
    This is the criticism.
    Have you really not heard this?

    • @PlaySA
      @PlaySA 2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah all that criticism is true. But he has a lot of great traits still and he's young. So someone is going to convince themselves on his potential.

No one is really talking about him so i appreciate the backstory and player breakdown. He is going to make some team better thats for sure.

    Great show, but most teams had a back over 15 touches, and 12 backs were over 18 per game. So the whole “you’re getting 10 per game” thing is a bit overstated these days. Still point taken, a rookie back, even as a starter, is likely to be closer to 15 than 20.

    I like Lagette to KC and one of the things I noticed that made me think he would definitely work there is he has a very similar profile to what Rice had coming out, won contested catches well, same height, similar route running, the only difference that stood out is that he is 20 lbs heavier and ran a 4.33 not a 4.47 even if at 1st he is the gadget/screen/deep guy that works great with our other weapons Andy can even put him in the backfield like he liked to do with Rice and Toney and he is actually built like a RB

    • @loganhill6601
      @loganhill6601 2 месяца назад

      Also while watching him play he looked like a guy with 4.33 speed other guys I watched with great just didn't look like they played that explosive and fast like the opposite of Keon Coleman who looked like he played wayy faster than his 4.56 speed

    • @PlaySA
      @PlaySA 2 месяца назад

      Legette isn't a thing like Rice, for one he's a way better player. If the Chiefs manage to get him he'll be their best WR instantly. The clear and obvious comp when you watch his film is AJ Brown, he is basically the spitting image of the guy.

    • @loganhill6601
      @loganhill6601 2 месяца назад

      @PlaySA looking back no, all I'm saying is there are similarities such as height and how they got production in college. I think people forget at SMU Rice was a contested catch guy and people weren't sure if he could get open running underneath routes or that he just caught jump balls and Legette is doing a lot of the same be it better and at a higher level. I was using that to say he would be a good fit, he should be better like you are saying though as he is 20 lbs heavier and faster. I don't think Aj Brown is a perfect comp either besides size/speed they are different types Aj has always used his strength to bully and box out corners and I haven't seen Legette play that way much yet
