I remember buying this video when I I got my Scott type. He’s been dead 15 years easy now. He went back to Scott’s Dixieman seven times and was a great dog. 85 pounds and ripped AF and he was huge for the time.

@@Omg-kungfu I miss that dog. I have a Pit/Mastiff mix now that my sister didn't want or couldn't keep any more. Whatever her reason I have him now. He's a nice dog, but has no courage. And nowhere near the stamina or athleticism of my Scott type.
I believe it. Those original types were the truth. Formed over generations of hard working conditions.

Scott's working American bulldogs are rock solid catch dogs and farm and family guardians. My dog Carter aka Bubba aka the house is an 85lb scott or standard American bulldog. He deters predators doesn't chase my live stock. He doesn't chase cats or bunnies or deer. He keeps bears coyotes and bobcats off my farm. I haven't seen one in 10yrs. My neighbors get there trash ripped apart every week. American bulldogs are guardians they are not vicious attack dogs. They are intelligent confident and will not back down from any predator.
Brings back old memories. I was friends with Mr Hines and also brought his blood back to Mexico in the 90's. My 1st was a female named Dixie Lee off Daisy Mae X Romeo. I bred that female to Bishop and got the best working AB I have ever seen to date. I also had dogs off Jimbo, Twinkle Toes, Hobo etc. I helped him with a problem he had with people stealing his dogs. I also went north to Alabama to visit Mr Stover (RIP) once, where Mr Hines got a lot of his dogs. I gave most of my AB's away to friends in Mexico long ago but some of them still have this great blood. Now I only have world class APBT's

I grew up right across the street from Mr. Hines. I do remember him mentioning problems with theft of his dogs. If I remember, Mr. Hines passed away about 94 or 95, when I was in Jr. High. Every once in a while he would come over and talk to dad who still runs a kennel of foxhounds and greyhounds across the street from where Mr. Hines lived. Do you know what became of his son?
Who has his bloodline now?
@@jerrymoore7454 my friend Juan at American Legendz has this blood in the TX valley and working. He grew up close to Hines too, knows the history. He's on FB and he's a straight up dude.

This was filmed just outside of Harlingen, Texas. I lived across the street from where this was filmed. I remember Mr. Hines well. Six Shooter Junction Kennel is still across the street from here.

My daddy and I use to go to the river and catch wild hogs with our dogs years ago and even though it’s dangerous I haven’t ever had any more fun in my life!!❤
I've had two American bulls. I now consider myself married to the breed, they're the, well, heat. Good with kids, even though never raised around them, bark when they hear anything outside, and love to curl up on the couch or the bed with the family. And love cats, oddly enough.
This has just blown my mind 😳 I've just come across this this guy is a fellow HINES and he's American Bulldogs & I have a American Bulldog cross Pitbull I rescued 8 years ago. Its a funny old world

@@arrowheadkennels Thank you for the correction, I really appreciate that. My mistake, HINES is the name I should have mentioned. I have spoken with Alan many times, I should have remembered that. Some were Hines dogs, as he thought the Painter dogs were too hot/dog aggressive for him. Yes, he got some early Johnson dogs before the hybridization. Thank you so much, Good Guardian

Crazy because I had this VHS and had some of snowbird doing catch work. I had a painter line bulldog and he was amazing and definitely game. This brings me back to when I was so into dogs. Good memories man

Hines was known to make a ton of lies. His program didn't go many generations deep, yet there were things I definitely like about the hines AB's.

My boy has hines deep down on moms side. Mostly Srgt rock blood. These dogs are so tough. Funny he mentioned margentina in Chicago. He's got blood from them as well.
My Scott's Bulldog is 90lbs.

Glad you said most, not all. I’m 26 and own a 3 year old Scott male. His name is Buck. He is 110lbs lean. I was introduced to the breed 10 years ago after discovering a few old Don Mathews videos on RUclips. I work my dog via flirt pole and sand bag pulling. My friends who own Dogos are often impressed with his drive, courage and intelligence. Buck regularly gets confused for a large pit. Can’t beat a real southern farm dog. Young Dogman right here 🇺🇸

I would if I find aspects of that breed worth sharing, I don't care much for the modern Old English Bulldog, this is a disgrace when compared to the true dog of history. I prefer the dogs before they were destroyed by the Chinese Pug crossing. What we have now is not a true English Bulldog. What we have now is just a pathetic shell of what the dogs once were. The biggest difference in the Bulldog vs Pitbull is attitude. It's going to get ruined by adding pitbull(for color) even Scott said his black dogs were more hot and animal aggressive. I just think those dogs shouldn't be bred with the general population. Johnson added Enlish, but the Enlish vs American have a similar disposition. The attitude is my favorite thing about these dogs.

Just adopted a American bulldog and this video was great my dog is not mean by any mean to me but when I walk her and someone gets close to my son he shows her teeth letting ppl know there getting to close but she will not attack unless she has too great dog
Silvestre Plalacios, Am glad you like the video. Your dog is doing what he thinks is his job, which is not a bad thing. However, teach him not to become defensive unless you tell him to be. He should not show his teeth because people are coming close, only if the persons are presenting a threat to you or your family. Or if the dog is in its own yard space and someone is coming really close or is trying to enter without your permission. Please correct him swiftly everytime he does that in public until he stops the behavior.
@@goodguardiank9workingdog508 I have been the person that had her didn't do their job so I'm teaching her I'm the alpha without hitting her little things like I'm the first one to leave and enter the house when others come around I make her sit so she can be social it's a work in progress but she's very smart.

Well, I can tell you Mr Hines is wrong about Allan Scott, as Mr Scott is alive and well in 2021 and I saw him posting conformation show win photos from an event about 2 months ago. He out lived Mr Hines by about 20 years.

Hines, is not wrong, he actually corrects himself in the video, he said he used to think Alan Scott died, but he later found out he is alive and sent him some dogs to re start his program
Since Alan Scott sold his dogs when he left the breed for a while
A lot of dogmen thought Alan died in the 90s when he went broke and got out of dogs.
He has it backwards though, the American Bulldog comes from the American Pit Bull Terrier. The Pit Bull came first then the American Bulldog came. The pit bull is the closest thing in the dog world today that is closest related and functionally closest to the original bulldog. The old pit bull dog men called their dogs bulldogs and it is not by coincidence.

Why did he say that Alan scott was dead? Alan scott is alive today, John D Johnsson is dead but both Alan scott and Don Mathews is alive today,they are somewhere around 75 years old both of them..
