I will always be sad there wasn't a third one. I think they would have just got better and better. Plus, this one had so much imagination put into it, especially the troll market, that was a visual feast of creatures created with practical effects! The two animated Hellboy movies are fun, also.
The blend of sci-fi and fantasy for this movie is what elevates it above the first. Being the son of the devil, or this world’s equivalent, Hellboy has multiple ways of bringing about the apocalypse, and the cool thing is that this movie shows that there are two supernatural weapons of mass destruction that Hellboy has the ability to summon and unleash upon humanity: the Seven Gods of Chaos - the Ogdru Jahad - and the Golden Army. It’s one of cinema’s greatest tragedies of the last 20 years that the 3rd movie never happened, but if it could have, I think Liz was pretty short-sighted in destroying the crown. If Hellboy unleashed the Ogdru Jahad and other demons like Samael or himself, the Golden Army would have come in very handy in fighting them back.
Great reaction to the second film. Honestly between the first one and this one. I definetly liked a little bit more this one, and it is true that the fans of Del Toro's Hellboy waited for a third film, making it a Trilogy. But unfortunately that third film would be just only a dream of what could have been. Taking into account that the great majority of the cast of Hellboy are already more older than what they were by then. Specially Ron Perlman who is 74 years old nowdays. If they tried to make the third movie right now, it wouldn't have the same magic or essence, like the two first ones had on the early 2000s. And most of all because if I am not mistaken a couple of years ago Guillermo del Toro expressed or stated that he didn't had interest on doing the third film. It would be cool if the third film was reminiscent of the manga Devilman in mood. I think based on the second film, this is even logical, because Hellboy could become disillusioned with people. Liz's tragic death would serve as a catalyst for him to go into berserk mode and create the very apocalypse that would be predicted. But let’s say he didn’t completely destroy humanity, the spark of his humanity still prevailed at the last moment and was somehow able to reduce the damage caused. And now, hundreds of years later, in a post-apocaleptic world that outwardly resembles perhaps the world of Darksiders or Vampire Hunter D, the aged hero is trying to help and get along with the remains of humanity as much as possible, who mostly fear and/or hate him. But his measured existence is interrupted when he gets involved in a conflict between his offspring. Everything would be fine, but his twins, two of the most powerful beings on the planet, are demonstrably opposite in character and the outcome of their conflict will decide the fate of humanity.

Within an hour it became clear that he had changed the character so much from the comics that we couldn’t adapt any comic stories. So the first film is very much a collaboration. The second film is very much Guillermo. There was a moment in filming the second film where I said ‘Hellboy wouldn’t do that,’ and Del Toro said, ‘This isn’t your Hellboy, it’s my Hellboy.’ So, you grow a thicker skin and you deal with it. It is what it is.” If I recall correctly, the pair fell out to the point neither was speaking to each other. This killed any hope of a Hellboy 3. Sadly, the reboot killed any hope of seeing my favourite comic hero back on the silver screen. It is a shame to see two such talented creatives unable to reach common ground. I have to congratulate Luke Goss on his portrayal of Prince Nuada, his performance adds a lot of emotion and nuance to what could so very easily have been your usual scenery chewing villain.
Yep, basically Del Toro wanted to take the story in his way, while the comics had evolved in a completely different direction... Both are wonderful visions, sadly they just don't intersect (Del Toro has a bit of a positive spin, even in the darker themes he takes) and Mignola never accepted to let this particular iteration to close before doing something else. Jumping to adapt the darker/gorier second half of the comic may not have been a wise move, since it's not the most accesible part, thinking of general audiences (for a franchise... maybe the short stories would fair better than the "larger than life" arch of the entire story). Still, there will be an adaptation of The Crooked Man as a second reboot (why exactly that one... no idea), let's see how it works.
@@DocuzanQuitomos They are both creators of highly detailed, stylised worlds. I admire both of them. There’s a wonderful animatic on RUclips of the Crooked Man. I hope the new project has legs and we all get to enjoy it on the big screen. Thanks for your comment 👍
This is movie is better than the first. The budget was 80 million dollars, which allowed to Del Toro to truly show and build on the creative genius that he is from Pans and Devils Back Bone. Plus working with Luke Goss in Blade 2 allowed him to bring a superior villain to the series and Seth McFarlane as Johann. I still have art of book for this that I got when it came out. It had the full script and some incredible concept art.

Only 50 episodes total over 5 seasons. Richard from LOST plays the sheriff here and the legendary Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore the 2 leads.
So the reason young Hellboy seems so "off" is because he's actually being played by an adult woman: special effects artist Montse Ribė. She's worked on many of Guillermo Del Toro's films including this and Pan's Labyrinth. 😂

I watch for her reactions.
It took me all these years to figure out that it's Seth MacFarlane who is the voice of Krauss.
Abe isn't a physical being. He doesn't *fight*, as such. He's more research and investigation.
I love both of you. Your in my top 1000 reactors 😊😊😊..
I mostly watch for Mrs sarcastic comments. Mostly
Fear the dog 🤣🤣🤣 Must have been a room full of postmen
I do this in bedroom when you're not home .....(play with sword ) ....I'm just surprised by the honesty 😂😂
I honestly really liked these films. A shame we never got a third.
Me and the boys love Mr Movies! The rest of the Movies family is great too.
this is my favorite one loved the dark prince and the magical world of fairies and the goblin market
Still the best comic book movie ever made
You guys have to do Bates Motel TV series. Most underrated show of all time and my #2 show of all time next to LOST. Bates has it all including tons of heart to go with the creepiness/horror. Only 50 episodes total over 5 seasons. Richard from LOST plays the sheriff here and the legendary Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore the 2 leads.
This woman is a total buzz kill. She belongs in a photograph from the 1870's with her flat sense of wonder.
Heaven...girl lol
So the reason young Hellboy seems so "off" is because he's actually being played by an adult woman: special effects artist Montse Ribė. She's worked on many of Guillermo Del Toro's films including this and Pan's Labyrinth. 😂
Cats can tell a good person.
