The Sonic XV is an all-analogue, 4-pole, diode ladder filter, with band pass, 6db and 24db low pass, and voltage control over resonance. It also has wave folder functionality over both the input signal, and the resonance loop, with individual CV control over both.
It's circuitry is an exact recreation of the filter from the Musonics Sonic V (5) synthesizer from the 1970's. It's sound character is similar to the VCF found on the EMS Synthi and VCS3, and as such is very different from the AJH Transistor Ladder Filter, which was based on the Moog Minimoog monosynth.

Some interesting results doing this : ->Ladder->VShape->SonicXV(BP)

Playing around with a triangle on the input and the IN Wave shaper only, I'm getting a decent emulation of the mid-bass keys of an acoustic piano (with an ADSR and some room verb).
At higher frequencies, the sound approaches that of a classic 80/90's electric keyboard.

Excellent, notice how much difference the input level makes to the sound too, in fact it might sound a bit more like a vintage electric piano at higher levels.

I love you, but this video needs an oscilloscope.
