  • A quick tour of these two powerful new modules in the context of fattening up the Moog Mother-32's single-VCO semi modular voice. I start out with the complex end result, explain the patch, strip the processing back down to the Moog's basic waveforms, and then build it back up again while explaining some of the features of the Ring SM (Sub Bass + Mixer) and Sonic XV (diode ladder filter with wave folder).

Great video! It looks like you are controlling the Mother 32 with midi from your Akai MAX? Does the Akai still produce arpeggiation when connected via 1v per octave & gate?

Yes - MIDI and CV/Gate output are simultaneous, and the CV/gate work just fine with the arpeggiator.

Loving your videos, how do you find the Elby stuff?

So far I only have the ChaQuO, and like it. I think in general their modules are great value, and there's some interesting ones as they do a lot based on Serge or Ian Fritz circuits. The potential downside (aside from not being small, in width or depth) is they're migrating more toward Serge standards for voltages, which are particularly low on the audio side; the buzz I've heard is other manufacturers are going the other direction (such as 0-10v for envelopes) - so have utility mixers that can boost as well as attenuate (such as the Frap 321 or Erogenous LEVIT8) in your case as well.

Why is everything out of sequence and some "lessons" are impossible to find?

It depends how you're accessing them. Go to the home page for the channel - ruclips.net/user/LearningModular - and look at the playlists; those are ordered. For example, for module reviews, go to the modules playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLli7NH8pJF8RLTBLS8z1mYoJzJS9tUTsT
The "course previews" are just that - select movies from each course to give you a taste for them; they are not the complete courses.
