Nice overdrive tutorial. Good tip about compensating with the Master volume on the VCA-I hadn’t properly internalized that. I do it anyway, with a downstream mixer, but the Master pot is a good “trim” for the voice.
I love the AJH VCO, it's probably my favorite analog VCO module, but I've always found it to get rather clicky when trying to play low octaves. Perhaps the key here is to use square waves for bass rather than sawtooth? And of course the other common technique seems to be to use 3 of them simultaneously. Personally I have found the secret sauce to be the AJH Ring SM mixer, which provides two particularly great sounding sub-octave generators.
Yes, for the most part squares are more suitable for basses, as harmonically that's a characteristic of sawtooths at low frequency. The PWM on the squares can really help at low frequencies too, but the subs on the Ring SM are especially good as they are shaped sine waves.

Nice one!
Thanks!
There is no pitch cv going into the VCOs....is the pitch CV being sent from the sequencer via the bus?
Yes it is, it's explained in more detail in the description and on the patch sheet :)
