I am so glad I found you! AND, I am so happy that so many other viewers are enjoying you, too! The interesting, calm story line and the photography is so pleaing and perfect. Just loved every scene, the the lake, the comfy cabin, the trees' reflection in the lake in so many scenes and the visual , relaxing rhythm of the paddle dipping into the water below. God bless you Wendy for bringing us with you into this glorious gift of His Nature!
I love the serenity of your videos. You are cute as a button, as we say in the south, as well as an accomplished outdoors woman. Your voice is soothing as are your activities. Thank you for sharing your adventures. Keep having fun.
Hello 👋 Wendy, thank you for the tag along. What a peaceful day this was. That is such a beautiful area. Always take good care of yourself. Stay safe and healthy everyday.😊
I am so thankful I stumbled upon your channel a few weeks ago-we are so very similar, between the love of outdoors, the fishing….even down to the breakfast sandwich! Thanks for involving us in your adventures; can’t wait for many more! ❤️
That was a very nice enjoyable watch. Cool cabin and I could taste the fish. Nothing better than fresh caught fish. Will be doing some kayak fishing in 2 weeks so I’m hopeful to be tasting some for breakfast. Thanks for sharing your outing and blessings to you and your family.
Watching your videos, makes me smile, and makes me want to LIVE. Turn off the negative News folks, and feel happy, and stay positive. Thank you for your peaceful videos, in such a tranquil place.
Beautiful - every bit of this latest adventure you had Wendy! I can certainly see why it was hard to pack up and leave - - and why you keep getting called to head out to make new ones. My late husband & I felt the same and heard that same 'call.' I wish I could literally 'come along and join you' as your comment above says..😀 Thank you for sharing. Stay safe, have fun, and keep 'going.'
thankfully I can still heed that call although in a smaller way. Doesnt really matter as long I can still do something I love. Hoping you can find that too in whatever way works.
Your video made me teary today. I am an outdoorsy woman who has been through a lot in my life and have made it through it all and I’m very happy HOWEVER for those of who crave the outdoors, when it’s been too long or it’s been too busy, my soul craves the water, the woods and the silence. Your video was absolutely beautiful. Can you tell me why you chose to go with a canoe rather than a kayak and also if you’ve created anything to help you get it on top of the car. I have a very long and heavy 55 pound kayak which I love but being almost 60 I’m ready to go with something lighter yet tracks well in the water and something I can get on my car by myself. Do you have any suggestions? Also, I think you said in one of your videos that you have been an outdoors camping type person all your life. I’m kind of wondering if you would ever do a video on the types of things you were into or the type of work you did prior to this beautiful retirement. I know, sometimes carrying the camera and talking to the public may get old , but we thank you for sharing.
Hi Amy- thank you for your thoughtful comments. I will try to include a demo of loading the canoe. I sold my Kayak and bought this ultra light 32 lb canoe for a few reasons. One was weight. Also ease of loading myself and camping gear. It is harder to manage in wind but serves well in other areas. As for your last comment- I really enjoy the whole process of doing the videos and hearing from everyone. Only been at it for less than 2 years. I was a public health nurse in my previous life! However, I always camped in some for or other since I was a child.
Wendy, Thankyou so much for taking us on your journey,we watching your videos and experience the nature through you.may God keep on giving you strength and health to do what you love.❤❤🇿🇦🦋🐦🔥
Looks lovely. Quiet and beautiful. Spring brings new adventures. Glad I found your channel. I am off to have my last winter freeze in Norwegian mountains before changing gear for spring hiking. Be well.
It's been a perfect Spring day! And the temps!?! So lovely and warm. Glad you have a bit of paradise to enjoy! That last fish was a beauty! Food on the fire tastes the absolute best, doesn't it? LOL...McDonald's can't beat that, Wendy, for sure! Any bear activity at this time? Enjoy! I just want to add that you remind me so much of my sweet Auntie Marge. The kindest soul I know. Cheers, Wendy.
Thank you for your videos, we really enjoy them and take inspiration from you. We also love to canoe. However putting the canoes on and off the roof rack is becoming challenging. It looks like you have a lightweight canoe and a special roof rack. I am impressed that you put it on and off the roof by yourself. Will you please tell us about your canoe and how you get it on the roof rack? Thank you
Hello Jay. Yes, I have a lighter canoe- 32 lbs. I know there are even lighter ones made too, down to 26 lbs I think. Mine is a Clipper (Packer) and made in Abbotsford BC by Western Canoe and Kayaks. As for getting it on the car. I do have a a sliding role bar on my Yakima roof rack which helps me. I also carry a folding step which I use for tightening the tie downs. It is difficult to describe how I do this maneuver. I tried then erased it! I will work on a short video in the near future .
@@jayherrmann5164 Jay- I was looking for a present video that somewhat shows how I load and found an older one by a woman called Tina Breister. How to load a canoe. See if you can find it. She shows much the same strategy as I use. The biggest thing is the lift at the start

Great video! Your "get-away" is pretty much my everyday life - simple, peaceful, quiet. I also have a clipper canoe (best ever.) Nice cutties, BTW! So happy you’re making these videos! I hope it inspires more women to find their strength and resilience, and the deep nurturing Mother Nature offers our true selves.
I just started watching your channel! Im so happy I stumbled upon it!! Youre videos are so relaxing and informative too!! Youre such an inspiration!! Love the little cabin!! 💙
Hi Wendy, your cabin retreat is remarkable and definitely secluded from everything. Loved your set up with the colors and great thinking of installing a Murphy bed. Great video Wendy which I thank you for sharing 👍.
I have a shed to home cabin. 36x14. I love your cabin for get aways. on my cabin 4 foot of the length is covered porch. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Gramma candy
This looks like a great time, love the cabin the lake and the views. This inspires me to get back outdoors and camp. Thank You Wendy,❤ I'm new to your channel and love your videos
Wonderful! I love everything about your videos! I’m wondering about the water temp if the ice has just gone out? I’m nervous to kayak in such cold water even though I’m an experienced kayaker on Lake Huron.
Not sure what the temp was. Fortunately I am never far from shore and always wear my pfd. No guarantees however. I also only "do wind" if absolutely necessary. I am always checking the wind warnings. Appreciate your concern.
Love your cabin… it seems so cozy! I wondered if maybe the bears will visit after their long winter slumber? Enjoy the spring weather! Thanks for sharing😊
This video makes makes me so anxious for my 1st camping trip this year. Our lakes are still frozen here in northern MN but ice should be out in a month or so. Well done Wendy!
Hi Wendy I am a swedish woman ,sexti years old who just happed to watch some of your videos. They are very nice. I also love beeing out in nature. I have a small house in a wood by a lake and I have a kayak, and a canoe that I use frequently. So I feel that we have much in common. In this latest video you are out in your canoe. That canoe makes me curious. I havent seen one like that before. It seems to be a mix of a kayak and a canoe. It looks like a canoe but you are paddeling it with a kayak paddle . When I am in my canoe I use a paddle that is ” onesided” and I paddle on one side at a time. My canoe is far to wide to use a paddle that you use in the video. Can you tell me a little bit about your canoe. I also like to know how you get it up on the roof of your car? Is it very light? I bought a kayak because it is much lighter than my canoe. The kayak 21 kilos so I can get it up on the roof of the car with a helping device. So now I can go to new waters and explore. But I can not bring a lot of stuff with me. I look forward to see more videos from you
Yes, I do love my canoe and in some ways it is a cross over from my kayak. It has a foot brace and I can also use the knee braces as it is fairly narrow. It was a great transition from kayaking. I love the double blade as I am used to it but can switch to single if I want to. It weighs 32 lbs so it is light enough for me to load and unload as well as carry short distances. It is easy to pack and great for fishing and filming as it is very stable. It is 14 ft long and called a Packer made by Clipper. As it is a solo canoe it fits my size very well. Not too big . I feel quite at home in it.
Wendy, I always enjoy your time at the cabin. I love that you have to paddle or hike to it. I don’t recall you ever showing a hike to it but I could have just forgotten (I do forget often lol), how long of a hike is it? I’m so glad that you get out and inspire us to Live Life Fully. Thanks for taking us along on a beautiful paddle and overnight at the cabin.
I loved spending this time enjoying your peaceful paddle and delightful overnight at the tiny cabin. From the time you locked the door to leave, until the end of the video, I was unable to hear anything. I turned off and on my external and laptop speakers a few times and reloaded the video, but nothing worked. Am I the only one who had difficulty?
Ah, I figured it out. Somehow, an "x" appeared next to the title of this video at the top of the screen, where all the open tabs are lined up. Hope that makes sense. It barely does to me. I have no idea how I caused that, but I could click on the "x" to make it go away and hear the video again.
Just back from my 2024 Winter Camp (says so on the calendar). I love being alone in the forest too. Thanks for this video. Was hoping to see how you get that canoe back onto the car. Nice video. Thank you for it.
Wondering how you manage the canoe? Kayak? I’m 60 and it’s my biggest barrier to my camping adventures … I haven’t figured out how to manage the kayak so I can do that too. I camp a lot on my own, but haven’t quite figured out the kayak.
when you say manage do you mean getting it on and of the car? Maybe you could clarify. I have an ultra light canoe- 32 lbs. It is not difficult for me to get the bow up on the car then go to the stern, lift and slide the canoe onto the rack. I sold my kayak which was heavier so I could have a manageable boat to deal with. I also have a folding step so I can reach the tie downs to secure it on the rack. There are some good loading ideas on You Tube.
@@wendyoutdoors2230 after I sent you that message, I continued on watching your other videos and watched how you get it off and on to your vehicle … very clever… that I could do and it would be cheaper for me as well as I wouldn’t need the kayak rack which is several hundred dollars… I’m going to use your way. Thanks so much … beautiful area you live in
Wendy, I heard you mention the name Bob...am I right in assuming that is your partner/husband? Did you ever receive any kind of questioning about you wanting to travel by yourself without him??? I finally went on my first solo travel trip last year, and I got to say I received a lot of comments from folks. Most were in the vein of "you must have an understanding husband" or "If my wife went on a trip by herself, I would worry something was wrong in our marriage". My response was usually that I am a free person, my husband does not own me nor me owning him. I wanted the accomplishment of traveling on my own and don't regret it at all. Just wondering if you experienced any of that kind of blowback??? Love your vlogs!!!!
Hi Kathy, yes to some degree but my husband does not like tent camping and I love it so.... If I want to go - off I go. He is fine with that. He has different interests which I don't do so hopefully it all works out in the end. thanks for your comments
That mcmuffin is to love at all times.
Yummy though messy!

glad you figured it out-
Just back from my 2024 Winter Camp (says so on the calendar). I love being alone in the forest too. Thanks for this video. Was hoping to see how you get that canoe back onto the car. Nice video. Thank you for it.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much … beautiful area you live in
Beautiful!
😍💖👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for your videos. I have a question. What is it that you are lighting to start the fire?
I use commercial and home made fire starters. We have lots of wet wood here and they really help get things going.
Thank you for responding. You are such an inspiration. I am enjoying your videos.
