Ingenious use of your new twig stove - I call that a success. Good idea re the instant oatmeal, too; thanks for sharing. Perfect mini break. Have a great week, Wendy.
I am so sorry for the loss of your dad . Sounds like you were very close. I am humbled to think a video of mine might give you some time away and some comfort. Please accept my condolences. take care❤️🩹

Yum apple crisp looked great! Love seeing how this little oven set up worked. Bless you for taking on Milo. So sweet and I know its hard work to help a dog with challenges so thank you for doing that. It warms my heart and I can’t wait to see how Milo progresses in his training. Thanks Wendy! Fun watching as always. ❤
Love your camper but mainly I love Milo! I have a new-ish rescue dog who, like Milo, has some issues. Hired a trainer to help us with an e-collar and it's really working well. First time I felt I needed to go this route (have had 6 rescue Labs). Next step is taking her camping with my small RV. Hoping she feels safe and happy, and hoping I feel the same! Cheers to you!
Thank you for sharing your images. When Milo is outside, you could put a carpet or something where he could rest near you. My dog is always a bit stressed by all sorts of noises in the nature. Oatmeal, apples! I add a touch of cinnamon to my oatmeal … I don’t remember if you added or not. Always enjoy your videos! Glad Milo is adjusting. Try a small cast iron Dutch oven with the lid, that's what we used when we were kids. The Dutch oven in the coals and coals on the lid, bread and cakes always turned out great.
Stand your Billy pot up with your grill on the bottom then your bread dough on top the grill then put on the lid .put. pot on the little stove Then take foil fill it with coals close it up shape it like say a hat on top of your stove use your twig stove to make a pile of coals before you get it ready to bake. Put a little grease on the inside of the pot Happy trails

I am very glad you and Bob and Milo are working well together. Our "found hound" Margot was much like Milo, but she will now sleep in the camper and in the tents. You are all fortunate to have found each other! Sending you all best wishes!
Wendy, do you watch Luke from the Outdoor Boys. He makes bread in his latest video while survival camping. He mixes flour yeast and sugar in a plastic bag. He adds water to the bag and lets the mix rise from the heat by his fire. Then flat frys it in a pan or in this latest video he puts the dough straight on the hot coals. He lathers it with honey. Looks delicious. Milo will come good. Just time.
Good to see you and Milo, hoping you and Bob faired well during that atmospheric river that went through. I've seen bread baked using both the Dutch oven and one of those reflector ovens. Both were used with a fire rather than a stove box. I think, though, that if you had a flat surface over that pot, you could put coals on top or perhaps burying it within the coals. I'm just not sure about an even temperature, maybe double up the pot like a double boiler then bury it in the fire...? but these are fun experiments. 😅 I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with 😊
I'm so glad you got out for a whole 2 nights! Milo is so beautiful! We always bring some sort of mat for our digs to lie on thar can be cleaned easily. It helps them settle to know that they have a designated spot that is theirs to lie on, and it keeps them cleaner than lying in the dirt. He is doing so well! They say it takes at least 4 months before a dog really knows he is there to stay. I have found it can take up to a year for some shelter dogs. Thank you for adopting him. The crate will help him at home. One of my digs lives his crate. It is his safe place and he goes in there when he is frightened, like with fireworks.
Really enjoy watching your adventures and think you are a really good inspiration to many. If you are planning or interrested in cooking different ways on your bushbox you might want to check out firebox stoves site on youtube and see the many ways he cooks with his stoves (really similar to your style). On his merchandise site he has all kinds of cooking gadgets and pots he uses. Even a rotisserie setup. In this episode you are doing something that might really have interrested you is his mini cast iron square 5 way setup. You would've been able to crisp top as you did bottem easily. Just a suggestion. Really enjoy watching all your adventures.
Hi Wendy, enjoyed your video as always. I am inspired to try my twig stove out on a good day in the cooler season, now that there is less drought and wildfires have died down. We finally got some much needed rain. Its good to see you out with Milo. Bless you all for getting through the challenges and trying different things. Your video update on Milo helps me with my own challenges with my newly adopted 2 yr old pet who came from a special situation. Your an inspiration to me and I always look forward to a new video of any content from you. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Thanks, Wendy. I really enjoyed that update. I love seeing your location, learning about how to improvise, and how to flow with what's happening at location. Enjoy seeing how Milo is doing, what a good dog! Thanks again.
Thanks for another lovely and informative video! Bless you for giving Milo a loving home and for your patience. Im sure you will be grateful to have him in your life!
Oh and maybe if you want to make some kind of a bread you use some kind of a small Dutch oven and then you put the coals on top and then that makes the bread 🍞😊
So happy when one of your videos pops into my feed. I do so enjoy them. Milo looks good! Keep bringing him. He will adjust! Walk in peace, Wendy, and enjoy the holiday season!!
I am really enjoying watching your videos. I am starting to camp more often. I have always enjoyed camping and hiking but for to many years I put work first. Now I’m trying to change that.
What a wonderful, scenic get-away! That wee cooking set up was ingenious. We have something called an Omnia oven that works much the same way. I have a lid suggestion for your briquets/coals. When I do my sourdough, I bake it in the oven in a bread pan with another bread pan inverted on top. I leave it covered for 30 minutes and then take the lid off for the last fifteen. My loaves are always beautifully browned with this method. Milo seems very happy and settled. He's a lucky guy to have such devoted parents. Happy camping! I hope you get out again, We started our day shovelling a foot of snow so no camping for us just now.
Oh my goodness Ann- snow shovelling is such a lot of work and it's only the beginning. Thanks for the tip- I will also look up the type of oven you use.
Thanks for the very versatile video! Camping, cooking and baking, hiking and some dog training. All with beautiful scenery. Think you found the best place to be on Black Friday 😂
Wendy, Wendy so happy to see you and Milo and the little adventure. I'm thinking that apple dessert looked tasty, and your thought for the oven was awesome.milo doesn't pull when you walk, so that's a plus. I hope the kennel will work my 3 grandogs have kennels and do well when my daughters go to work. They have blankets and just settle in. They feed them in there and leave door open when they eat. They say get in your house :) Fun to have had conversation around fire. Saying porridge made me smile 😊The shots around the park were fun to see and didn't realize you have alot of wet weather. Will it be snowy? Thank you again for sharing always welcome sight to see❤
thanks Mary- We usually get 1 or 2 bouts of snow- usually the wet stuff but it doest usually last very long. Lots of rain though. The gray days get a lot of folks down. Getting out is the antidote for that I find.
Hi Wendy!! I am so happy to see you and Milo out on a camping adventure! I was thinking about your baking- Dutch oven situation. I have 2 little 6 inch cast iron pans that my daughter gave me. They don’t have lids but I’m going to try and find something that would work. I wish I could send you a picture. Anyway if I figure it out I’ll let you know. I’d love to see your creations in them! Stay safe and thanks for the video!
thanks Heidi. you might find some suggestions that would work from these viewer suggestions- Amazing folks out there. thanks for continuing to watch this channel
This was a great idea & for the coals on top, all you need to do is put some on top of the foil covering the baking dish, Wendy. That's all you need to bake...heat on the bottom & on the top...it should work great for anything you want to bake like that. I love the pot idea for a stove too...very inventive!! I noticed at the beginning of this video too, you got kisses from Milo!!! How sweet that was to see🐾♥ Your Apple Crisp looks absolutely delicious. Yes, it would work great, Wendy, as long as you put some coals on top of the foil covering the pan you decide to bake your bread in...that little pan you use, would be good for bread also, I think. What a perfect way to spend a cooler Autumn or Winter day...beautiful lake and a nice fire going to keep you toasty warm & Milo as company!! Crate training may be the perfect answer to him being left alone, as long as he knows you are coming back to let him back out, he should be fine. I love it that a trainer gave you that idea too...he will eventually learn to love the crate too, as place of quiet when he feels stressed out too. So happy everything else with all 3 of your is going so well...he is such a sweet little guy & you both seem like the most patient, perfect parents for him!! So many new things for him to see & do too out camping...I think one day you will see him bugging you, "come on Mom, let's go camping!" Thank you so much for sharing, Wendy & love & Blessings to you, Bob & Milo 🙏♥
Thank you so much for watching and for the great tips. We will definitely give those a try. I hope you are right about the future camping with Milo- We really love him
Wendy, thank you so much for another great adventure! Great idea with the twig stove. You and your husband are wonderful to be helping Milo along so patiently. I hope the family counseling helps. Thank you again!
I am so jealous that you have someplace so close by to go camp and be in the woods. It makes me want to move out of southern Minnesota farmland and live in Northern Minnesota where the lakes and trees are.
@wendyoutdoors2230 you l look l like you are really enjoying the great outdoors and really good a cooking I have some Pyro in me I love cooking with fire
I’ve been away but thought of you while on my travels! So good to see another video. “Some things are just a gift”” … and you and your love of nature are surely a gift for me!
There you are - hi Wendy! That was fun and oh, what a beautiful spot to camp in next to the water. Watching you bake the apple crisp, an idea popped into my head. What if you just cooked the crunchy topping and the apples separately? The instant oats cereal, maybe some added chopped walnuts but no butter because the sugar in the cereal mix will melt and coat everything and make it crunchy. Put the pan with apples inside that large pot & just tuck the topping packet on its side next to it, or just lay it on the outside top of the big pan? Milo is such a beautiful boy and it's only been a few months since he came to be with you. It's 3 years now that my rescue has been with me and Missy still needs to be crated when I leave the house. I have a small water bowl that clips onto the inside of crate, a comfy crate pad with washable cover, give her a favourite quick treat and she is very comfortable in her crate. She will actually go in on her own during the day just to relax and soak up the sun. It will take lots more time for Milo to be sure he is where he's meant to be - home, and his quick kiss on your cheek is a very good sign. Thanks for sharing your lovely weekend with all of us. Stay well.
Hi Wendy - great video, as usual. Good to chat with you at Horne Lake! There’s a product called a “14cm Coal Tray” for billy cans on Etsy that should work well to hold the coals on top of the rounded surface. It’s pretty inexpensive (just over $11) although you’d need to double that for delivery costs.
Outdoor boys you tube family in Alaska. Luke cooks amazing outdoor meals and bread all the time. Mostly on a rock or slate or sometimes right on the coals!
Thanks for the video, looks so cozy! I have successfully baked over coals by putting a smaller nesting pot inside a larger pot (both upright) and just putting a few pebbles inside the large pot to create an air space. The inner pot is uncovered. Adding coals on top of the larger pot would work really well.
Hi Wendy: That apple crisp looked mighty tasty, as did your other camp meals. I've never used a twig stove but it looks like fun trying to figure out how to bake things in it. Milo seemed to adapt to the van even though it's still a new experience for him. I'm sure he'll get better and better as time goes on. Horne Lake is quite lovely and serene. I could stare at the view as well as the campfire for hours. Have you gone canoeing on the lake? Have Happy Holidays in December. 🦋🥀🦉🪶🍁🍂
👍👍👍 .. nice. The oven worked .. the apple dish looks yummy .. as with the other 😋. Milo will adapt over time. I found that being consistent helps appreciably. Thanks for sharing 😊.
Bless you for trying so hard to get Milo settled down. You have a big heart and he so very lucky to have you! Nice video Wendy and thanks for including us in your beautiful part of the world. It's truly stunning. I'm not sure if you have ever seen "Simon a Bloke in the Woods" on RUclips. He does a lot of baking in many different ways. Plus he's a big twig burner user. Love his channel, you may, too.
@@wendyoutdoors2230 I actually just watched one of his old videos making bread in a Billy can on a wood fire. He was able to balance large coals on it, but that wouldn't work with your twig stove. But, I'd bet you'll find plenty of inspiration on his channel and I'd bet he'd answer an DM from you, as well.
Thank you for a really nice video. You had a beautiful camp spot and Milo was very good. Your food looked amazing. It was nice yo see you again. Take care.
Wendy, I support you on your adventures. Be safe and have fun. Wish I could camp as much as you do. No matter what age get out there and experience nature.
I would love the pancake recipe! For Milo, before leaving him, I would have him run for a few minutes outside, so he’s tired when you leave him alone. I also, would leave him with a chewing bone. In the end, you will know what works for you all. Follow your instincts. A trainer is important, but you also have to feel comfortable with the technique. Lots of structure, outside play, love and bones, lol, to reduce his anxiety.
Wonderful. Thank you for the vid. Like you've said, Dutch Oven on coals with coals on the top is a good way to bake bread. Many people do it. I always hike to my locations, so I never tried it myself. You can also use stove from your hot tent in a similar fashion. It worked for me. I also baked simple flat breads directly on coals and it tastes really good. Finally bread on a stick over camfire is popular bushcraft technique. Be well.
thank you Paul- it is my pleasure. I am definitely leaning towards a tiny dutch oven but some of the other idea have been really creative. I have my work cut out for me, more fun to come!
Make a rack for top of your can to hold coals. I use oak wood or charcoal to cook and bake with..Having some kind of rack on top helps brown top of your food. Always enjoy your videos. And watching you out doors. Stay safe my friend
Loving all your videos. A company called 'rough timba' in the uk do a little holder that sits on the top of your billy pot set up, so you can add coals to the top for baking. Its not expensive and works well. Hope that helps x
Wonderful to see you and Milo out and about! Actually, the whole video was great! I'm just a teeny bit jelly, its cold here in Alberta, and my camping time is on hold. (I have done winter camping when i was a leader with JFW) If we dont see you before, have a Merry Christmas!
What a great way to spend Black Friday - spending time in nature with Milo is way better than shopping! Thanks for taking us along on your adventure.
my pleasure for sure.

For making bread....a mini Dutch oven, or make bannock with rolling dough around a wooden stick
thanks for the ideas. I will investigate.

The crate will help him at home. One of my digs lives his crate. It is his safe place and he goes in there when he is frightened, like with fireworks.
thanks Tamara. We are moving in a good direction slowly.
Really enjoy watching all your adventures.
thanks so much Terry. I will look that up.
Happy Holidays to you and your family.
thanks so much and to you too!
God sees and remembers everything then there will be the Judgement.
The God has nothing to do neither with magic nor with pagan holidays.
There is no evidence that Christ celebrated his birthday anniversaries, but king Herod executed John the Baptist on his "birthday".
This is the God's word,
Deuteronomy 12: 29-32: "When Jehovah thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest in to dispossess them, and thou dispossessest them, and dwellest in their land; take heed to thyself that thou be not ensnared to follow them, after that they are destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How do these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto Jehovah thy God: for every abomination to Jehovah, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods. What thing soever I command you, that shall ye observe to do: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it."
Leviticus 20: 27: "A man also or a woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones; their blood shall be upon them."
Levticus 19: 31: "Turn ye not unto them that have familiar spirits, nor unto the wizards; seek them not out, to be defiled by them: I am Jehovah your God." (ASV)
This is a christians' way,
Acts 19: 19: "And not a few of them that practised magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all; and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver."
But, the inhabitants of World Sodom run to fortune tellers and astrologers while blessing them in the name of God...
The problem is Devil runs the world. He is liar and murderer. This is the reason why deception and violence are everywhere. This is the reason why Hitler got the power, but Christ was executed as "blasphemer" and "rioter" by denunciation of clergy. This is the reason why the whole world is Sodom.
That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's kingdom. Jehovah would put everything in order. He has anointed the king, Jesus Christ. The dead will be resurected and we'll meet our loved ones again! :-)
Thanks, Wendy. I really enjoyed that update. I love seeing your location, learning about how to improvise, and how to flow with what's happening at location. Enjoy seeing how Milo is doing, what a good dog! Thanks again.
Thanks so much!
Thanks for another lovely and informative video! Bless you for giving Milo a loving home and for your patience. Im sure you will be grateful to have him in your life!
Yes, we really are. thank you
Great to see you and Milo Wendy 🥰🥰.
thanks Deb
Thank you, Wendy & Milo! That was a very nice trip.
Thanks so much for watching- glad you liked it Janice. We had a great time
Oh and maybe if you want to make some kind of a bread you use some kind of a small Dutch oven and then you put the coals on top and then that makes the bread 🍞😊
Yes. I was thinking about looking on line for a small one unless someone comes up with a better idea. thanks Wendy
Nice to a older person enjoy camping, enjoy !! 😎
Yes! Thank you Beverly
So happy when one of your videos pops into my feed. I do so enjoy them. Milo looks good! Keep bringing him. He will adjust! Walk in peace, Wendy, and enjoy the holiday season!!
It means so much to me that you enjoy my videos. Happy Holidays to you too!
wonderful time!
Yes it was Dana- I loved it!
Oh how I was happy to see you got out for another adventure for us! Thank you for taking us along 🏕🔥
thanks for coming Luanne
Oh man that apple dish I could almost taste!! Made my mouth water!!! Love the updates on Milo too!!!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you're enjoying the Milo updates. 😊
I am really enjoying watching your videos. I am starting to camp more often. I have always enjoyed camping and hiking but for to many years I put work first. Now I’m trying to change that.
That is awesome! you will be so happy you did.
sweet to see you and Milo forming such a bond
love that little fellow
Looks delicious!
It was!
I agree Julie- It was a great little trip
I love you in the van. Cozy. Separation anxiety? Good job at getting a trainer. I like how she is doing the crate training.
Thanks! He is doing great with the crate training.
I hope you are right about the future camping with Milo- We really love him
@@wendyoutdoors2230 ♥♥🐾🐾♥♥
Wendy, thank you so much for another great adventure! Great idea with the twig stove. You and your husband are wonderful to be helping Milo along so patiently. I hope the family counseling helps. Thank you again!
thanks so much.
I am so jealous that you have someplace so close by to go camp and be in the woods. It makes me want to move out of southern Minnesota farmland and live in Northern Minnesota where the lakes and trees are.
I love the forest, lakes and ocean. I am very fortunate
Hey wendy,Love Milo❤ and you can cook anything! cant wait to see more❤❤❤
thanks from both of us.
Brilliant ❤ What an ingenuous way to use the twig stove.
Thanks- it’s amazing what you can do with a little ingenuity! Plus the help of the many other viewers to improve it!!!
the instant oatmeal is a great topping!
totally- I wish I could remember where I first saw it but it is a simple but terrific idea.
Enjoyed this video and happy the weather cleared enough for you to get out. Thank you!
Thanks so much- it was a good day to get out!
Used to use a gallon can to bake bread in over the coals
Long before all the wonderful camping cook pots were available
Great idea!
@wendyoutdoors2230 you l look l like you are really enjoying the great outdoors and really good a cooking
I have some Pyro in me I love cooking with fire
Parchment paper and a round of foil will help keep it from burning
Love to bake 1:31 on the twig stove
thanks Victoria
I always enjoy your videos!
💜🐶🩵
Thank you so much!
I’ve been away but thought of you while on my travels! So good to see another video. “Some things are just a gift”” … and you and your love of nature are surely a gift for me!
Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to watch Cathy- I am so appreciative of the support
That belly pot is a great idea for an oven. I would use the oatmeal and add some nuts to the baked apples.
I will try that next time, thanks!
The country side looks beautiful 😍
It certainly can be! lots of great areas on Vancouver Island
nice camp out
thanks Phyllis- I really had a good time.
Stay well.
two great ideas- many thanks- I have added them to my list of things to do!
Such a beautiful spot even without sunshine. Thank you for sharing. Best of luck with Milo. 🙂
Thank you very much!
Thanks for the tip Carol- sounds interesting
Outdoor boys you tube family in Alaska. Luke cooks amazing outdoor meals and bread all the time. Mostly on a rock or slate or sometimes right on the coals!
I will check it out Susan- thanks
The foil pack of coals would brown your oats
Enjoy your trips as much as you do
I think so too
Thanks for the video, looks so cozy! I have successfully baked over coals by putting a smaller nesting pot inside a larger pot (both upright) and just putting a few pebbles inside the large pot to create an air space. The inner pot is uncovered. Adding coals on top of the larger pot would work really well.
great ideas- will see if I can make something work
Lovely dog and lovely lady!
thank you.
Great job Wendy. Little experiments lead to great discoveries. I'll have to try it. Thanks for sharing.
thanks Glenn- lots of fun!
Yes re the canoeing- just around the end where it is quite sheltered. It gets very windy many afternoons there but it is lovely.
Really enjoyed this, lovely to see Milo with you. You live in a lovely area 🙂
Thanks so much 😊
👍👍👍 .. nice.
The oven worked .. the apple dish looks yummy .. as with the other 😋.
Milo will adapt over time. I found that being consistent helps appreciably.
Thanks for sharing 😊.
thanks Thomas
Thank you so much for the inspiration 😊
thank you very much
So good to see you!! Thanks for sharing your skills and equipment! I'm feeling the need to camp, myself!
totally!! I was in deep need myself.
Thanks so much. I will check him out
@@wendyoutdoors2230 I actually just watched one of his old videos making bread in a Billy can on a wood fire. He was able to balance large coals on it, but that wouldn't work with your twig stove. But, I'd bet you'll find plenty of inspiration on his channel and I'd bet he'd answer an DM from you, as well.
Yes a video from you thank you!!🇨🇦👍❤️
Thanks for watching! 😊
Thank you for a really nice video. You had a beautiful camp spot and Milo was very good. Your food looked amazing. It was nice yo see you again. Take care.
Thank you so much Brenda
Wendy, I support you on your adventures. Be safe and have fun. Wish I could camp as much as you do. No matter what age get out there and experience nature.
thank you Cheryl- and you're right about the age thing- Sometimes we just change the "how" we do it.
What a nice surprise! Glad you had a great trip!
Thank you! 😃
Lots of structure, outside play, love and bones, lol, to reduce his anxiety.
all excellent ideas- thank you.
Good to see you again Wendy, I enjoyed your adventure.
Thank you for watching Laurie
I've seen small cast iron cookware and even a small bread pan 😊
yes, I have now ordered a couple of things to try out- what a great way to spend winter outdoors - trying cooking ideas.
Be well.
I like the idea of baking on the coals, saves a lot of weight! I should try that. thanks
@@wendyoutdoors2230 You can also cook steak that way. 😀
Glad to see another video. Beautiful area.
I think so too. Great spot
I use my Dutch oven when baking bread at camp. Yes to charcoal briquettes top and bottom. Certainly appreciate you taking us along on your adventures.
thank you Paul- it is my pleasure. I am definitely leaning towards a tiny dutch oven but some of the other idea have been really creative. I have my work cut out for me, more fun to come!
So glad you and Milo had a nice outing 🙂 Thanks for taking us along.
Our pleasure for sure- thanks for joining us.
Make a rack for top of your can to hold coals. I use oak wood or charcoal to cook and bake with..Having some kind of rack on top helps brown top of your food. Always enjoy your videos. And watching you out doors. Stay safe my friend
Thanks for the tip Helen- I am investigating some ideaa around that.
Loving all your videos. A company called 'rough timba' in the uk do a little holder that sits on the top of your billy pot set up, so you can add coals to the top for baking. Its not expensive and works well. Hope that helps x
Thanks for the info!
Wonderful to see you and Milo out and about! Actually, the whole video was great! I'm just a teeny bit jelly, its cold here in Alberta, and my camping time is on hold. (I have done winter camping when i was a leader with JFW) If we dont see you before, have a Merry Christmas!
same you- thanks for commenting
Good to see you and Milo.. he seems like such a sweet little guy.. I always enjoy seeing what you are up too!!❤
😊 thank you
A sweet dog, great food and a cosy van. Perfect camp Wendy! Thanks 💕
Thank you Clare-🤗
I love experimenting cooking stuff on th fire, and u did so well cooking ur apple treat on th little stove.
Thanks so much. I will continue the experiments. Good way to spend winter days! Playing with fire🔥
Another great video..thank you!
Thanks so much! thanks for watching
