Meeting Milo- our new family member
Please come along and meet our new family member, Milo. He is a 5 year old Jindo cross rescued from a high kill kennel in Korea. He came to us August 25 and we have all been working at our own adjustments and attachments since! Right now he requires a lot of our time as change is very hard for him. Each day usually shows some improvements but the process is not without the odd set back. We can see he is slowly coming to us more and is more relaxed but we all have a ways to go . He is a lovely little fellow who really just wants to be loved but isn't too sure if he can really trust us yet. However, we are getting there!!

I dont have the lovely dairy farm handy to get fresh milk as you do, but I do make yoghurt very simply in the instant-pot using Fairlife Ultrafiltered 3% milk. I understand because it is filtered, it doesn't need to be heated - just into the pot, hit the YOGHURT function button and select around 11 hrs. Next morning, voila!! I learned that too much starter can cause runnier yoghurt. I use 2 TBSL starter to 58 oz milk and it works perfectly. So good, so easy and very affordable.

What a beautiful dog.I once rescued in San Antonio a hunting dog afraid of men with cowboy hats. It took about 6 months before she started to connect with us and later others. She never looked at people, but then after 6 months some friends came by thought we had actually a different dog. I said no that is the same dog, only because she was looking at them and not looking away did they think she was new. I can tell you have the patience needed, they are so worth it.

I've been looking for ones that have a bit of neck coverage when the hood is up and the one you're wearing looks like it would fit the bill. Once camped at Disney and came back to a flooded tent. Then we noticed what everyone did was string up a secondary tarp to any of the trees near by as a second cover. Sometimes that not always possible but I would get even thin painters plastic and drape it over the tent. Seems to work and it’s not heavy and cheap enough to throw away if you had to.

I'm so happy for you both...and for Milo too...he has his forever home now. I always adopt from the Humane Society, because there are so many animals that need homes. I am just so happy for little Milo now, that he has been rescued...I always feel so terrible when I hear that any animal has to be put down, especially adoptable furbabies!! Thank you so much, Wendy to your & your hubby for adopting him!🐾♥ Yes, pets just seem to complete us as a family...they enrich our lives so much & make them more memorable & sweeter. I believe he will become attached to both of you, with time & you taking him for walks will really help that...poor little guy has sure been to a lot of different places...it's so good that he has both of you now. Thank you so much for introducing him to us...I'm just loving him already! Blessing sweet Wendy to you & your hubby & little Milo too. You are doing great with him & wow. What a good walker on a leash. You may want to consider a harness, particularly with forest walking or camping. If he happen to see a deer or etc. the neck collar might slip over his head or even worse injure his neck if he pulled too hard on the lead. Anyways, I adopted 10 year old Elsa on 22 May and week after week I could see her trusting me more. Today…4 months into it, she’s very comfortable and does come when called. Good luck & bless you & Bob for giving a Milo a great life to be had

Teach the recall: in the house, if he’s in a different room, call his name and reward with a piece of food that he really likes-cheese or hotdog or chicken. Work up to 50 times a day. He will learn that come doesn’t mean going inside or on leash or taking his stick away. Tiny pieces of food, the size of a Cheerio is enough. You can use a piece of kibble if he’s food driven. Keep in mind it can be 6 months before he settles in enough to truly see his full personality. I’ve worked 48 years professionally with dogs. You’re doing a good thing. All the best!

A harness and a collar are great so that he can be attached by both. If frightened the collar alone won’t secure him. Thank you for giving him a loving home.
