Am I Too Old For This?

- Do you ever ask yourself that question? Many of us do , especially as we age. I was recently doing a solo overnight camp out and found some of the effort required to do what needed to be done caused me to reflect on that question- Am I too Old? What keeps us going, and when is enough enough- all relevant questions to consider. #solocamping #womencamping #oldercampers
I think the camping companies would be smart to sponsor this woman. They’d had a whole new demographic
thanks Sally- that gave me a chuckle
Companies like MEC need to get with it---they don't make plus-size clothes, and their ads are geared to the fit and the young. If they ever use a person over 40, it is a white male who looks like a fitness model.
Absolutely! Pity older women are invisible.
Agreed ! 👍
Yes, lots of us seasoned ladies are going the nomad phenomenon.
Wendy, watching you paddle back after the overnight; I can do this! I know I can !
I have known several ladies in their 60’s n 70’s that kayak and I am so interested in this - I am 58 so I am “almost old enough “😂😂😂❤
Perfect- just the right age to launch a new part of life- have fun!!!
I feel the same way Wendy. I will do it until I just can't. My plan when that happens is to do the next thing on my list that I love which is the arts, furniture building, painting and I love creating videos for my camping trips. So happy days to you. Stephen
Exactly!! great attitude.
I really enjoyed this! Thankyou for sharing.
many thanks Joan
I hope I'm not sounding selfish, but NO you are not too old.. I find you too be very encouraging.... thank you..
thank you very much Bob
I find it amazing that you reply on your comments. First time I saw one of your videos. If you don't mind doing so, please tell us in your descriptions, the location of your videos. I think many of us want to know. Thankyou for posting.
Sure thing!
I certainly do not think you are too old - you are doing just the right things for who you are now. I am 64 and a retired teacher. Retirement affording me to get restarted with backpacking at 62 and I have goals!! Getting out keeps us young at heart, mind and body
Well said Suzanne
Hell no. Age is just a number and you are awesome!!
many thanks Nancy
With your wilderness trekking - have you encountered moments of 'What was that strange noise?'
75 still solo back country hammock camp.
terrific- may you continue to enjoy for a long time yet
It's keeping you young.
thanks Marilyn, lets hope so!🤞
new subscriber here. love your videos. so inspiring. What brand of pants do you wear? thanks
Thanks for subbing! the pants I wear are made by Fjallraven. I have 1 pair, well made and wash up well too. but- pricey. that's why 1 pair🤣
You’re not too old as long as you can comfortably make it happen. You inspire me.
Many thanks Deb
I'm inspired too
Same!
Me too!
I 'm inspired to get out on there myself.😊
It's never easy to explain to people just what being alone in the wild means to some of us. " " But what do you do there at your age ? " they always ask. " Nothing, just listen to the woods as the wind moves through the trees, watch the sunlight through the leaves, look into the fire at night " It leaves them puzzled, as they fail to understand that time " doing nothing" surrounded by Nature is not something that can be abandoned, just because of increasing age. 😊👍
thanks John- beautifully said👍
Well said
What an inspiration you are❤ How old are you? And do you ever feel afraid or bears or other animals? I went through an awful divorce that just sideswiped my life and into a struggle I’ve had difficulty overcoming. I absolutely need to learn to live a life without all I had thought it would be with as a retired woman in a long term marriage, grand babies, traveling all. But it is what it is. I just need to start living a “different” life. Not what I had anticipated, just different. I always loved the outdoors. I realize it just need to start doing something. Thank you for the reminder. If you ever need an adventure buddy to disrupt your peaceful, serene outings, let me know 😊
How old are you? And do you ever feel afraid or bears or other animals?
@@susanrobertson2922
Not sure how replies work, but if that question is for me Susan, I was 80 last week, and living in rural Wales Uk. There are virtually no life threatening wild animals here, only weather and injury in remote places to be wary of. I've known the night sounds of most British wildlife since childhood so noises in the dark don't bother me, in fact I like hearing them.
My grandmother lived to 108. She just knew when to back off certain tasks and would take up new ones. She stopped gardening at 100, but then did more sewing /quilts. You are an inspiration. Thank you.
totally wonderful role model for you. I love that she just took up something new when she had to give something up- no empty spots. I will try to remember that. I do love learning new things too. thanks for sharing that.
😮108? That's incredible
Your grandmother was epic ❤
Great advice! Don't stop, just go around.
@@unitedstatesdale She was nothing short of Amazing! Absolutely blessed to have her in my life!
Your answer was spot on. I am 71 and still tent camp. I love every minute of it. Thank you for such beautiful videos. Keep on enjoying yourself in your beautiful surroundings. Love your channel.
thanks June- sounds like you are having a great time too.
Love it! Saludos from Puerto Rico island
At 71 years old, I am just starting to think about camping again. I love being outdoors! Can't wait for the trip I plan on taking this September to see all of my friends!
wonderful Martina- I hope you have a wonderful time.
Read a brilliant quote once by a 106 yrs woman, “if Ida known I was gonna live so long I wouldn’t have got old so quick”. Love what you’re doing ❤
Great quote for sure- thanks for that!
😊I am 87 and I wish I had the strength to do what you are doing. I have always loved being on the water.
I'm 64, and camp in my van after many, many, years of tent camping. I have had both hips replaced, and I'm legally deaf. I cannot hear any animals or noises around me. I used to laugh with my friends and say that ignorance is bliss, and there might be a bear outside my tent, and I wouldn't know it.....but I knew it would be a good idea to move into a solid shelter to stay safe. Hearing in the great outdoors, especially camping alone like I do, is now a no-brainer.
a wise decision . I love van camping too. It is all good. thanks for sharing your story
We both need to get a good dog😊
Hi👋🏼 I camp in my SUV I have joint pain n sleeping in tent can get to cold for me. Love thinking of a Van for more space. But so far my ‘07 Pilot is working for me n my best four legged furry travel buddy. She is 10 I am 58.
Happy Travels to you!
I will be 64 next month and my hearing is very bad. I have a chiweenie who barks at everything so I depend on her.
I have seen a bear tear apart a car in a parking lot, to get at the food inside.
I'm 70 and still love solo kayak camping with my hammock or backpacking and hiking. Happy to see another woman still enjoying the adventure
That is awesome, so happy to hear from you
You are pure inspiration to ALL ages. You put a lot of us to shame, keep doing what you're doing but remember it must be enjoyable for you. When it is not then that is the time to stop. Well done Wendy!
many thanks, I agree- I am still having lots of fun
@@wendyoutdoors2230i
"Am I too old for this?" I was a few years ago, but not anymore!
I decided that if I wanted to keep backpacking and having fun doing it, that meant prepping differently. On day hikes, I tote dumbbells, so every hike is training for backpacking. I do strength training, including moves with dumbbells that mimic hefting a backpack up. A couple times a week, I get up and down off the floor 10 times, then hold a full squat more than long enough to, uh, take care of business. I practice balance in various ways. Also I updraded some old gear to ultralight.... Now I feel lots younger!
wonderful- I agree that all the activity we do to keep going really pays off- It really does make a difference
Please don't say you're too old. I am 80 and still love the outdoors. I have a tent that was designed to fit in the bed of my truck. It has a lot of room and I am not on the rocky ground. I love watching your trips, Gramma Candy
80 and still young at heart. Great attitude I believe. Sounds like a great set up too.
I’m 79 and still ride motorcycles. Too old?…horse feathers. 🌵🏍
I love watching your videos Wendy. I too at 73 love hiking, backpacking, camping and kayaking. I know my level of activity has lessened I want to continue to get out in nature no matter what.
Ys, we will keep going as long as we can👍
Wow, still backpacking? Good on you!
Wow Carol, do you have a channel? 😀🏕️🌲hiking 🥾 🌲 😊
No. I enjoy watching other’s adventures!
I have just returned from my first solo van camping/ travelling trip as a 62 yr old woman. Nearly everyone says, "You went alone?!" Can't imagine the warnings I'd get if I headed off with a hammock tent in a canoe, lol. Good for you, and thank you for your inspiration to us 'older set' to get out there and enjoy the great outdoors!❤
Hi Ruby- good on you!! Sounds like it went ok- Congratulations on doing something you wanted to try. Very empowering for sure.
Love ❤You Girl, I just subscribed , I enjoyed watching you Wendy 😊
Young lady , believe me there will be no question when you are too old.
sounds like you know-👍
You’re not too old. You’re an inspiration and the definition of staying in shape as you age. Even the way you eat shows portion control. I am learning a lot from you. Thank you. I Love this. 😊
I appreciate that! thanks very much
@@wendyoutdoors2230 You are very welcome. 😊
I feel like this is a really important video for others to see. You are showing viewers that if one is aware of their body's limitations, if one is willing to take things slowly so that mishaps and injuries are less likely to occur, and if one has a calm, positive, and can-do attitude, many things are possible as the body ages. Thank you for sharing! This is the first video I have seen of yours, but I have just subscribed and I look forward to following along with you on your adventures 💛
thanks you ever so much- I look forward to hearing from you again
Agreed, great video. As a senior woman and solo camper myself, it's affirming to hear about your experience and how going more slowly makes it possible to continue your outdoor adventures. This has made all the difference for me as well. I've changed my equipment with lighter gear and sometimes shorten the distance I hike, but I was thrilled to discover that I can still go backpacking. It's a gift to be alone in nature, even with our older bodies. I appreciate your perspective so much and it's good to know I'm on the right track. Thank you.
You’re definitely not too old. The places you go are beautiful I think as long as you feel good, you should keep going. Thank you for sharing all the pretty places with us!
thanks Sherry
Keep doing what you can as long as you can, that’s what keep us mobile, love your videos. Thanks from Australia
thanks for taking time to watch and comment-
You are so inspiring. I retired last year, turned 69 this past May and have re-booted my love of backpacking. Most all of my former hiker friends in my age range no longer hike or have the ability. I have begun solo hiking with many of the safety tips that you have provided. I have ask myself the same question as you titled this video. I'm not, yet and neither are you. I may go a little slower than in my 20's but I'm seeing, listening and smelling so much more than I ever did. Thank you for your inspiration that you have provided.
I totally agree. There are many benefits to going slower. thanks for sharing and I wish you many more great hikes.
You are such an inspiration!!!! seeing my father in law live to 98 and still be able to do his regular farm activities, made me realize that by doing what we love is what keeps us going. It was sad to see when his body said “I can’t no more” but his brain was fully active and with so many project in the making….about 6 weeks later, the Lord called him. Looking what you do and how you enjoy it, must be an inspiration for the rest of us……let’s keep our body moving until it can’t no more and enjoy every second of this journey called “life”….
thanks you so much for sharing your story about your father in law- how inspiring is that for sure. I expect he was getting ready to move on. Such a great example for your family.
Oh my gosh, Wendy. You're not too old yet! Wouldn't have even occurred to me if you hadn't brought it up. You're doing just fine. I love coming along on your camping trips. Keep them coming! ❤❤❤❤
Really enjoy having you come along Suzanne- thanks you
You say you were lucky to be on that beautiful camping trip. But it was you who created that luck. Yes, all the stars were aligned to make the experience run so smoothly, that, is special, maybe coincidental. It's like the weather, the lake, and even the wildlife conspired in cooperation to let your time in its parts go without event. You are still strong enough to load/unload/load again a canoe, paddle to your destination, set up camp/string your your bed between two trees, break camp and paddle out, is sign you are not too old which was your original question. To me, the clincher was you be able to sit in that low to the ground chair and get up from it👍. As long g as you can do that, you can do most things you want to. Thanks for bringing us along!
thanks Joann. Yes, getting in and out of that chair is an art! I think I have got it now but I did rollout of it a few times🤣
I am 69. Since I retired in 2016, I have camped all over the country; first in a tent and then a teardrop camper. I am married, but he has had no interest in going. I love to hike and ride my bike, but he does not. Now, he is showing signs of dementia, and I had to cancel a trip I had planned to the Tetons. He is not bad enough that he would accept anyone coming into the house, but because of his illogical thinking if something comes up that is out of his ordinary routine, I am afraid of his reaction. I am grieving. I so love traveling, seeing new things, hiking in the woods and mountains. It’s so difficult for me to think that I will no longer be able to go.
My heart goes out to you. It is a huge loss and a difficult time for sure. that could happen to any of us. I hope you can find a way to have small amounts of time to yourself if not the trips. A bit like a bandaid but it may be what you can manage. Use your creative energy and see what you can recreate in miniature. Imagine a 2-3 hour miniadventure close by. I may be way off line here but self care is so important for the care giver. take care. ❤️
Keep fit my dear. I looked after my husband for 5 years until he passed with dementure. I was 68 at the time. When he passed I purchased a small Motor Home and iver the last 4 years I have travelled solo all over the UK. And intend carrying on until I sm unable to. Good luck for your years ahead.
I empathize. I have been the sole caregiver for my husband for 12 years. He now has advanced Parkinson's Disease and , while at home, he is under the care of Hospice. I had to sell my Roadtrek 5 years ago and have not been able to travel since then. I am now 82, but healthy and strong. My hope is to be able to get out to some state parks while I am still able.
@@vickyhargrove3002 you will again one day. I have been in your shoes. After 5 yesrs my husband passed and I started a new journey. Not an easy adjustment but it is pissible. Good luck sister.
@@donnawhitley1451 you will god willing
I just so appreciate you being so open and authentic. Those thoughts have started to plague me like a persistent mosquito. And I think you’re right - focus on the payoffs. They’re made from the small, smart, and safe accomplishments along the way! And thx for the more in depth food tips!!
I find keeping my focus on the positives really helps although the others do pop up from time to time, like it did that day. thanks for watching.
I'm 79 yrs and am still camping in my Dodge Grand Caravan. I'm not going to quit yet! ❤❤❤
Awesome Judy- good to hear !!!
People do not realize that the daily chores and upkeep when living in a house take more effort than a well organized minivan lifestyle. It just does not compute in their brains that simplicity is an easy life.
You are such a joy. Thank you for your inspiring videos, commentary and encouragement to do what we love. Please don’t stop - look forward to your videos. You handle all so well, a lot better than a lot of young young people do - wisdom is the answer. Well that and light gear to haul around. I keep trying to lighten all my gear to keep the fun as heavy gear makes it not fun, except for comfort exchanges for lightening up.
thank you very much Sandy- I need to keep adjusting but still having fun
👍 Beautiful place to paddle & camp. Your dinner & breakfast may become my lunch & dinner today. We are only as old as we feel❗️
Sounds great!
I don't think you are too old, you can manage a canoe, camping on your own, you are tough ! Say, in earlier years were you an exploration geologist? Your meals cooked out look great, better than my poptarts! Thank you for going to the effort to film this for us. Where are you going next week ?
no I was a nurse. Not sure about next week yet. I will let you know once I'm there! Often a surprise to me.
Wendy, you are NEVER too old! This keeps us young! I am 62 biking 80 miles a day. Kids a third of my age cannot keep up! You are an inspiration!
wow John- that is an amazing amount of cycling for sure. you must be very strong from all that- Long may you continue.
Only one thing is better than camping alone. Camping with a camping soulmate who just like us cannot sit in the sofa inside 24-7😁
that is vey true- thanks
In t h e past few years, I've had some long, hard looks from younger outdoor folks when they see me do my thing. Now I'm slow but methodical always enjoying my time. You seem to be doing the same, well done Wendy.
I know what you mean about the looks- I remember a few from last summer when I was backpacking. made me laugh. Good on you!!!

NO! You are not too old! The age is a number as long as you can do what you are doing!❤❤👍👍🌹🌹
thanks
Sorry to be a downer, but age is certainly more than a number. It seems like the years strip away our options.
I like the way you said you would decide if it was time to quit. I think, too many young people want their elders to quit doing things they enjoy and are totally capable of because it scares them.
You have something there. I think it is because they love us and don't want us taking risks. Thankfully my kids are supportive--- at least so far!
Yeah, they're called ADULT CHILDREN APPROACHING MIDDLE AGE😂. Well, some of the time.... my two older are a little nervous, the youngest is my parter-in-crime. Good times, always followed by a safe return.
Are you kidding me? The real question is when am I going to do something like this? Yeah 👍👍
thanks Timothy- hope you too can find a way at some point
I absolutely love solo hiking and camping. There is just something so calming and peaceful being out in nature with no distractions.
totally agree dixie- 👍
Never too old! Keep camping and paddling. This is what prolongs our lives.
You got that right!
Heck no. I hope I am still able to go camping and enjoy the outdoors when I’m older. You are an inspiration to all of us!
thanks Scott
Hi Wendy, I just joined❤. You are an inspiration. I am 74 and paddle board. This would be the extent of things. I haven't camped much and usually with a group of people over 40 years ago! What type of canoe do you have? It looks light weight.
thank you Carol for subbing . much appreciated. I do have a relatively light canoe It is a Clipper, model Packer. 14 ft solo. It weighs 32 lbs so I can manage it quite well so far. .
Thank you enjoyed coming along with you 🦋
loved having you
God’s world is incredible. It’s like a giant magnet that pulls you into it. I don’t think you’ll ever be too old to truly enjoy creation!
Honestly Wendy, if you broke both of your legs, I think you’d have somebody pick you up and put you in a hammock between two trees ❤❤❤
I love that! thank you so much
I would love to be camping with you. My kind of getting out. What state are you in? I'm in Montana so I worry about bears. Enjoy your time, and think of all us old gals who would like to be there to.
Hello Marilyn- I live on Vancouver Island, off the west coast of Canada. thanks for checking in.
You are an absolute inspiration to me! I love your videos. You are not too old! I hope to see many more camping videos!! Thank you!!! 💗
many thanks Arelis
Thanks for taking us along. Such beautiful scenery! Finally had my first solo camp night. It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. Thank you for your encouragement. ❤
wow Susan "Congratulations." Isn't it amazing how the things we sometimes fear aren't nearly as bad in reality as we think they are in our mind. So happy for you. Even if you never did it again you've given yourself permission to give it a go .Awesome! 🏆
Absolutely not. My aunt used to drive and take trips by herself until she was 90 years old. Unfortunately, she developed health issues and had to stop driving.
I am sure that if she didn't have her health issues, she would have continued her solo trips.
awesome- very encouraging -thanks
I don’t know, but you can ask Bigfoot when he starts scratching on your hammock at 3 in the morning.
will do!
I like how you showed little snippets of your processes. I was wondering how you got those bands around the trees for your hammock. I started taking my veggies all chopped at home. Makes it a lot less hassle. You’re a real inspiration Wendy. Have a great season. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Good tip Sandi- I have done that but don't always get that organized . thanks
@SandiHooper, You can purchase webbing for hanging hammocks, complete with convenient cinch buckles, etc, at camping supply stores. Hammocking is now popular enough that stores that offer backpacking gear also offer hammocks and a selection of hammock accessories. If there's not a good local shop in your town, order from REI or wherever.
Oh I just love your channel! I'm 45 and just started solo backpacking and camping. Best thing I ever started doing for myself! Great video 😊
great Shelley- the joy of doing something you didn't think you could is so empowering.
Morning Wendy: I'm watching this while I'm working remotely at home. Very relaxing and enjoyable from my end, although the unloading and loading of your canoe along that rather precarious embankment with high water seemed challenging. But you did it and paddled away home. I'm glad that the pay off was well worth the effort! It's smart as we grow older to be more mindful and take things slow. I wish you many more paddling and camping adventures! Jenny
thanks so much Jenny- much appreciated.
My goodness, thank you all.At 61 I thought I was too old to travel by myself
I don't think so! Give it some more thought. who nows what you will end up doing! 😄
I’m turning 69 on the solstice and just finishing shed a 2500 mile trip in my van. I’ll take the hottest part of summer off from camping and start up again in late summer. My husband doesn’t like to leave home. He loves to work in his shop. I’m grateful that he is supportive of my desire to travel around.
No, you are not too old, however, if you think you are too old and you no longer feel comfortable then you may be old. I'm 87 and still feel comfortable with what I'm doing. No I don't hike as far nor go as deep into backcountry as I did when I was 80. Enjoy😊
great to hear from you Tom- so happy you are still getting out there.
I’m 24 and I really really enjoy these videos, so peaceful and organized , nature is sure incredible
You have that right Celina .
If you are Wendy, then I am. And that' not acceptable to me!
thanks- I concluded I wasn't- at least not quite yet.
I like to have some people with me I don't have to be with them all the time but it's a nice safety net
As an elder, I think there is a cost to benefit ratio with camping and I'm not referring to money, but rather about effort and the capabilities of one's body,. I reside in a coastal area with heavy tourism in the less rainy months of the year. Although I have some special beach locations where I visit, they are not camping spots. For camping, I drive to Forest Service land in the coastal mountains where I have found some very beautiful and memorable locations where I feel very much alone with my dog and deer friends.
Having said that, it's harder as you grow older to engage in such activities. Preparation for and unpacking after the camping trip seems to take forever anymore. The days of spontaneous camping are long over. There are times that all the work involved diminishes the pleasure of solitude in the natural world.
I have attempted to reduce physical effort with a variety of tents, rooftop shelters and even a popup tent camper trailer designed for motorcycles. Results have been mostly discouraging. There are times that after arriving and setting up at my intended location, I ask myself with increasing frequency, "What am I doing here? Is the payoff worth the effort? "
I truly admire your tenacity and defiance when your body and mind may be telling you a different story.
By the way, your Wendy's McMuffin looked great!
thanks David for sharing your story so honestly. Sounds like you are still going though so there must still be a payoff. Yes, the work does seem harder. I think that when we do decide to quit we will at least know we gave it our all then we can sit back and bask in the memories and the hard work memories will fade away. Wendy's messy muffins were great! I think that is what I will call them in the future. Messy Muffins!
I sympathize with what you’re going through, especially about the prep work taking forever. I’m trying to reframe that a bit and view it as camping preliminaries, i.e. playing with my camping stuff, which can be viewed as a fun part of camping😉. That strategy works especially well when it involves testing gear. Another strategy that helps is just to extend the amount of time one stays in the same place. Even two nights is so much better than just one night in terms of prep to payoff ratio. I’m getting back to camping after way too long away from it, and sometimes I feel like I’ve totally lost my groove. But I’m determined to carve a new one that fits my older and weaker, but wiser and deeper, self. Hang in there and keep finding joy in nature however you can.
That's a nice looking setup, there is beauty to being able to set up a hammock in tight spaces. You're never too old, keep on rolling!!!
Thanks, will do!
AND LOVE EATING THE WALLEYE ❤had to add that❤
Before I watch , I just wanted to answer and say no you're not too old. If you're enjoying it and you feel up to it then keep doing it for as long as you are able to. I enjoy watching your videos and will always be supportive whatever you do ❤ *edit to say , I'm over 50 and my partner and I enjoy your videos. You have inspired us to get back out there to camp. You're an inspiration to many. And you have beautiful spots to camp with lots of wildlife. Thank you for sharing
I appreciate that!
You find so many pretty spots and yet no one else is there. How fantastic is that. I think I speak for all of us older gals in that our major roadblock is fear of the unknown. Guess we need to internalize Roosevelt's WWII quote of "we have nothing to fear but fear itself."
there is something in that for sure. Sometimes we manufacture fears because we aren't familiar. There are also actual issues to take into account. Sometimes it is hard to see the balance for sure.
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us! Keep on keepin' on.
Thanks, will do!
Hello Wendy, I’m 76 yrs and you put me to shame, I just tent and car camp. Love the outdoors and enjoyed your video very much, like your personality and skills! Have a good prosperous, healthy life!
thanks Pete- I like car camping too- nothing wrong with that. thanks very much- good wishes back to you
Oh Wendy I love you and your life.. I'm so jealous of what you can do. Keep inspiring us ⛺️❣️

hell no you're not too old for this. i learn so fking much from you. Glad you like sleeping in the hammock. i've wanted to try one but i feel my butt will hit the ground before the night is over. lol
Thanks- appreciate your sense of humour.
I admire you and your strengths mentally and physically... Keep on keeping on ... Love England uk
thank so much for watching and for your comments. much appreciated
Never too old! Age is just a number. We purchased a cabin in the ADKs from a man who was 96 years old. He hiked, hunted and mountain biked until he was 100. Standing still he would hike up his leg onto the dining room table to tie his shoe. Said he had to stay limber and agile to ward off “rigor”….🤣 Go get it girl!
Great- I will have to try tying my shoes that way😆
Woman.... knowing what I know about Forests and the Woods....I wouldn't do it for a Billion dollars!!!!! Especially a Single woman out there!!!
Please be Careful!!!
A Bear can smell food for 5 miles away!!!
thanks Karen for your concern- I feel ok about what I do. I know there is risk but it is low. I am willing to take it.
Your amazing dont stop being you ❤❤❤❤
thank you
I just found you,Wendy! May The Lord be with you wherever you are. I have been out for camping since teens, never stop till now 71, me & my wife, we just purchased the 4 runner for new challenges.
thank you for coming along with me on my little adventures. great to have you. I am sure you too will have many wonderful adventures ahead with your 4 runner.
thanks Wendy from Perth Australia .... similar age however have never camped along, bravo you !!!
Thanks for watching!
You are never too old for the adventure of life! As long as your energy is up, forget about numbers... time is an illusion
You are such an inspiration 😊 thank you for sharing. So glad I came across your channel ♥️
I really appreciate your support and your comments.
I love the view from your haven!
absolutely the best!
i teach classes to silver wolves ( seniors) who still want to get out and camp our oldest student was in his 90's so your never too old as long and you have the desire and common sense lol
sounds like a wonderful job- didn't know there was such a course to take. I will check out your channel for sure
You are so wonderful. I like how you are open to re-evaluating as you go along, knowing yourself and your strengths and limitations. I am in my 60s, a bit overweight but strong. I recently was hiking and encountered three separate groups of hikers who seemed very concerned and uncomfortable about me hiking alone on a moderately difficult trail. They all had advice about where to go and when to turn back etc. I always keep an open mind and listen, but was a bit disheartened. I am always over prepared and do self checks as I hike along to be sure I don’t get in over my head. It’s so helpful for me to see you enjoying life and continuing your adventures. Thank you!!!
you sound like a wise hiker. You represent a deviation from the norm for your age and that draws attention. But what a great example you are. I expect they are being kind . At least they took notice. I had a similar experience last fall. I told myself it was a compliment🤣
You're an inspiration! Thank you for the beautiful adventures.
Glad you like them , thanks for watching
This is a wonderful video Wendy ❤👍
thank you. I really had a fabulous time.
I think the last 5 minutes of this video is my favourite part, the honesty, and self questioning, is quite inspiring. I really admire your outlook on life, in general, but especially when it comes to our own hobbies and challenges, great video, thanks for sharing 😀👍
Awesome! Thank you, I really appreciate your comments
I’ll be 65 in July and still get out there. Cancer hasn’t stopped me because I won’t let it. I can’t camp “hard” like the bush crafters but, I keep myself safe and enjoy the outdoors. While many things can stop you, (illness, injury, weather), age should never.
I agree- thanks you
Thank you , enjoyed a bit. Slim potato head he takes more time to show the out doors , tells about about the area, shoes a bit of the Plants, maybe an unusual tree, or found rock. and picks up any litter, sometimes. most leave it clean. Your meals looked good, Surprised, not more simple., but know myself i too would have used my favorite pans, and cook ware, than buying special camping cookware. Liked your tent.. Will check a few more of your pod casts., Even though would have enjoyed it more if I had seen more, or what types of plants grow in the area, flowers, birds, something, So many pod cast show setting up Tent, and Eating, and say how the area is pretty, but most is showing the food being cooked, THIS why I LEARN actually learn so much more when I watch SLIM POTATO HEAD. I may never own a cottage, know about some of the things he does, but I CAN LEARN and relate when other people talk about scrapping the bottom of their TRUCK, and adding RUST prevention, due to all the salt and other chemicals that eat at the metal body.. HIS solar panels he uses, nice to know. We have a HARBOR FRAIGHT near by. that I would not even have to order online. Things like this.. TO be fair I have not seen your other pod casts yet. ONE on 3 major Fears. . we will see. Thanks any ways. You do have a nice voice, do not speak too fast , too slow, or mono tone,, or with SUCH a think Foreign Accent that it is hard to understand, NICE SMILE.
thanks for sharing all you thoughts and ideas. As a Canadian I guess this is just my normal accent- A bit foreign to some I guess . I will have to check out Slim- thanks for the heads up.
Wendy, I am so glad that you are still enjoying the adventures and the payoff is worth the effort. I’ve had to think about that myself a bit. I’m not as young or strong and so you do have to work smarter! As of now I’m still enjoying camping and kayaking, fishing I don’t want to think of the day where that’s not part of the plans anymore so we just soak in all of it now! You’re an awesome inspiration to so many. Your videos make people realize that they can do it too! You are my hero! Safe travels! Until your next video, be well❤️
Very kind Heidi, thanks so much for your thoughts
Hello 👋 Wendy, sincere thanks for sharing amazing outdoor adventure. You always do a great job of filming. I feel refreshed after this adventure. Always stay safe out there. Be thankful that you are still a teenager. See you on your next adventure. 😊
Thank you so much Ronald 😊
Yes! Take advantage of good health and a happy mind, for as long as we can. So enjoy these adventures with you Wendy thank you. You are very lucky where you live
I hike with gals in their 60’s like me and a gal that is in her 70’s runs circles around us all
up in Mt. Lassen Volcanic Park that we are so truly blessed to live near!
Take care be safe and I can’t wait for your next adventure 🛶🏕
got to watch the old ones! Actually Im not really running circles around any one- just kicking along. thanks though
Thanks again for sharing your trip.
you are most welcome
I ask myself this question, too" When will I be too old to...? The answer for me, similarly to you, is when the payoff is greater than the effort. There are other normal activities like driving a car/truck, climbing a ladder to wash windows or clean gutters, working a full food production garden, doing fine handwork like needlework and sewing, doing large batch canning and food preservation in general, and so much more! As you stated, doing what we do with thoughtfulness and strategic planning, we can continue doing what brings us pleasure and maintains a high level of independence. It brings me pleasure to see you out in the wilderness. Maybe I'll do likewise.
Well said Christina. Yes, all areas of life are affected as we age. We keep adapting. thanks so much for sharing
You are amazing..& an inspiration to all of us of a "certain age"-- a proof that you are only as old as you feel!.. thank you for a wonderful video!
👍
Thank you I really enjoyed your Campout. I feel the same way as you I'm 76. I'm doing Van Life.
wonderful- I love our old van too!
Wendy, don't you dare stop. You're a joy to watch and as others have said, an inspiration. All the very best from the Scottish Borders.
thank you- I have roots in Scotland, although I have never been there. Maybe one day!
Pretty brave if you ask me! Being an active 80 year old my self, this is definitely one step too far! But full of admiration
thanks for watching- sounds like you have an active full life too!
