I don't use great spears, but the Lance and the Serpent-Hunter are the only ones that don't have Faith/Arcane requirements, and I prefer to have at least some swipe attacks in my moveset, so if I were to use one, I'd go for the Serpent-Hunter.
Late reply but if you get used to the timing, they're amazing. They get counter damage like normal spears, and the long length makes it safer to use. They take practice but can deal crazy amounts of damage

Treespear's weapon art might be very underwhelming, but it's such a great weapon otherwise. Perfect for a dex/faith build.

@@darkspiro6467 Ironically, It’s actually one of the least gimmicky weapon in the game. Especially in PVP.
