ps. a swede toUS is a turnip I think
@@flea10x6 Rutabaga. But a couple turnips would probably do nicely!
thanks Stapler
As a life long vegetarian and a former professional chef, I love that Jamie creates serious, no excuses, meatless masterpieces that stand by themselves - bravo! Love this guy!
Me too
They would be better though if they were vegan!
@@chuck21222 Oh my god, just adapt it. It's not hard. Use oat milk and vegan butter for the mash 🙄
LOL
you probably dont give a shit but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the account password. I would love any tricks you can give me.
I think it's AWESOME for a top chef to step forward with original recipes and techniques to build depth of flavour with veg/vegan food! Other chefs with a mainstream platform act like it's a badge of honor to scoff and say it can't be done. JO has the talent and heart to accept the challenge and take veg/vegan to the next level and I'm most grateful for that! He's offering a warm invitation and setting out the welcome mat for everyone, regardless of political beliefs, to love this food!
Thank you Jamie. My 92 year old aunt has gone off so much. She devoured this very quickly.
I became vegan after many years of trying. Finally I am not just accustomed now, I am motivated every single day to expand. This dish is hearty, filling, and ofcourse DELICIOUS 😋
Tonight’s dinner; stuck to core recipe; added little pepper and cayenne for little heat and also 2 crushed pods of garlic with the vegetable... and added cooked lentils ( not canned)... delicious! Well done Jamie Oliver! U get 2 brownie points
I'm from another country, but your cooking is the best.
I'm desperate to be healthy, but I think eating is important. Both of my parents had dementia, so I quit my job and took care of them. Last year, they both passed away after 3 months. It was stressful. My parents passed away, and my body and my heart ached a lot. I got a brain aneurysm on my head and two brain aneurysms. I even had hypothyroidism, so I suddenly gained 15kg. I have to diet. Anxiety disorder Panic disorder I still suffer from insomnia. It's been a year since my parents died, but I'm still in treatment, but it hasn't been long since I started again. I started RUclips, took a walk, and traveled because I had the courage to share and communicate. Now I want to be healthy. I hope everyone watching this video is healthy. Take care of your health first.
As a vegetarian I love how Jamie puts together all vegs with other ingredients to prepare a lovely veggie meal
I never fail in my admiration for this lovely man. I've followed his career from the beginning in his maisonette in London when he got his TV break with 'The Naked Chef' and he never ceases to amaze me with the glorious dishes he creates. And not every celebrity chef can say that (not mentioning any names)!!!
Made this today and it’s amazing!!! Added parsnip to the veg and a little creme fresh and garlic to the potatoes. Incredible recipe!!! Jamie Oliver you’re a genius as always!!!
trying this now!!!! smells amazing
I'm so glad to find you are cooking vegetarian now because my husband has gone vegetarian and I need some hearty vegan recipes for him.
Thanks, Jamie!!
If I’m getting lentils from a tin, I wash them through a colander first.
There’s no need. It’s perfectly ok to eat
Love the look of this. I was a carnivore when I lived in England & cottage & shepherd's pies were two among my favourite foods. Thanks for this lovely recipe.
Love you, love you Jamie! Love this cottage pie! So healthy and the way we should all eat, not needing meat. Thank you!
This looked so good I had to give it a go - it was really really good one of those recipes I will make regularly from now on so thank you Jamie

I made this today. Couldn't find swede so replaced it with beetroot. It was really good. Deep flavor, beautiful color and texture. And my 3 year old loved it!
Going to have to give it a try it looks mouthwatering. Love you Jamie 💕
Super recipe for cold winters day
Updated Lord Wolton pie. Cooking this for dinner tonight. Smells wonderful, 1 hour to go.
I can smell it from here ! Great for winter.
You're amazing. Thank you for helping me become a great cook. Your recipes are all so yummy. Thank you again.
I made this yesterday. It was delicious and beyond expectations.
Just made it and it is amazingly good. Best thing I have ever made.

Made this last night, absolutely devine. You will never know there is no meat in this dish, thank you so much for this dish, it will be a family favourite.
I made this yesterday. I ‘veganized ’ the mash potato, and the flavor in this meal is absolutely mind blowing. He is exceptionally clever🙏
Yoyoyo why u b leavin out da butter? My nigga Jamie O put butter in der for a reason
Made my own version yesterday and it is amazing!! Added paprika, lots of herbs and some chillies :)

Made this for the first time for dinner tonight. Very, very nice.
Wow that's amazing thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe with us
Wow, Jamie. Best ever. Didn't have all ingredients but followed basic principles... as you keep saying..DEPTH of flavour.!
I became vegan after many years of trying. Finally I am not just accustomed now, I am motivated every single day to expand. This dish is hearty, filling, and ofcourse DELICIOUS
Ok I have just made this and it is really really good. It’s going in my handwritten book (Only the best recipes make it into there). The only thing I’ve changed is to do the potatoes as half ordinary potato and half sweet potato (which is what I normally do anyway). Thanks Jamie you’re wonderful! Oh and just one thing to add; the fried Rosemary is inspirational.
I agree I think those two different potatoes mashed together take it to another level.
Thank you for the elevation of my cooking skills☺️🙏🏻
I made one earlier with Swede + Carrot mash on top and for the "meat" I did tinned chickpeas and cauliflower. Loved it and first time mashing swede and carrot and first time ever using chickpeas
Now, this is a delicious recipe & can't wait to try it! ☺
When I went veggie over a year ago my psoriasis cleared up for the first time in over 15 years so looking for recipes again going back veggie defo trying this 👍
New 2 week vegan tryin hard, Thanks so for the cool advice, info,, ..
Can't wait to try this, looks delish.
Wow, I've got to make this!
Making it right now! Smells delicious! Kudos for using the underappreciated celeriac. It's so hard to find it in British shops. I usually see it once, maybe twice a year in my local Lidl. I buy lots, cut into large chunks & freeze to last me until late the next opportunity. 😊
They have it in Morrisons right now I bought one yesterday!
Lidl is not great for veggies, limited range. They usually have it at bigger branches of the main supermarkets.
And they sell it frozen at waitrose. I know this because I was in waitrose the day before lock down, and the empty veg department threw me into a panic. I headed to the frozen veg section looking for literally anything. There was only Yorkshire pudding and one bag of frozen celeriac, so I bought it. Never had it before then.
@@joanm8251 We do not have it in the US either. I guess Swedes are just lowly purple turnips, something you rarely see in dishes anymore.
@@diane730 Rutabaga is a Swede.
They do it in all the proper supermarkets... Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda...
Look super yummy....Will make this for sure...😊😊😊
This looks so tasty! A perfect twist on a classic
Looks delicious, especially the gravy.
Thank you Jamie, it was delicious! Everyone enjoyed it
I need to eat this RIGHT NOW! 😂
Made this last night did not have lentils so used kidney beans wow it was lovely a keeper recommend it
Absolutely love this dish Jamie! It was quite easy to make a vegan version for my son 😊Thank you
Oh man this looks so good
Incredible!!!
Thank you!! I had no idea what the vegetables were.
I made this and it is marvelous. Well, I made a modified version not being able to obtain Vegemite and not knowing what to substitute, I used chicken bullion. Never heard of the celery root or swede and must say what a great find! Savory!
Making me oh so hungry! Yum!!💙
That looks rockin!
Does Jamie have a vegetable cookbook with these wonderful recipes? Omg. So delicious!
I prefer the one I make with a lentil base, diced carrots onions and mixed peppers, maggi seasoning garlic and mixed herbs, absolutely amazing, meat eaters Love it.
Sounds great! My mum used Maggi I try to sort out vegan protein works for me. Like idea of crispy rosemary though.
I made sometrhing very similar to this (NY times cooking recipe). It was excellent.. I like his combo of veggies here though.
Great 👍 thanks Jamie
I have made this several times now and I love it. I don’t like Marmite so I use a stock cube instead. Very happy to find a recipe with no garlic 🥳. I absolutely loathe it and it is seriously overused these days. As a vegetarian it’s difficult to find things without garlic in. Anyway, I love this recipe 😊
Agree 💯. I have a very big intolerance to garlic, impossible to find recipes without it. I know I can just leave it out, but it's nice to see recipes without it altogether.
Good idea too about the stock cube. Don't think I've ever seen marmite here
Love it👍👍👍
Looks lovely
It’s 3 AM and I’m hungry now. ;-)
Really enjoyed this, added a couple of cloves, a lot more cumin and a scotch bonnet.
Another epic recipe by Jamie- nothing lacking 👍🏻🥰😋
Hi Jamie, my family said it was one of the best vegetarian pies that they have put their lips too. Many thanks
This looks amazing
It is fantastic, asJamie says, and it's,amazing food.
merry christmas dude. delicious.
How exciting!
I put onion gravy granules, tastes like meaty yummy
Omg that is beyond delicious making tonight
Just yum
This looks AMAZING.
Se ve tan delicioso, y el cheff tan conversador. ¡que pena que no tiene subtítulos ni traducción! Les sugiero que lo enmienden. . Abrazo desde Argentina
That looks delicious
this has officially replaced the turkey for our thanksgiving table!
Super!
What happened to the captions for us hearing impaired??
There should be a cc button! :)
Where do I get some of these veggies? I’ve never heard of them!
BUZZ WORDS. GAME CHANGER. It is an alternative, very tasty but not a game changer.
AWESOME
oh my word i want that now lol
That looks so good. I'd have to replace swede as school dinners put me of it. Maybe som chunky mushrooms. Yummy.
I have GOT to see your farmers market. Never heard of any of those veggies.
Mr Nisqually Swede is rutabaga in the US, I see it sold in supermarket all the time, same for celery root. Dried porcini are harder to find, mostly in Italian food markets, or can be ordered online.
Irene R. Thank you for translation! Now I can tell the flavors to expect. Love trying new food. Everybody seems to get into a rut now and then but not me!
OMFG that looks so delicious! Hats off to the English on this recipe!
Amazing
Did it. It taste so good!!!
WOW!
Hi, I am from Oman. Good vegetarian dish, but we don’t get celeriac and the dry porcini mushrooms here. What can I alternate these with? Please explain. Thanks
Yum
What size should the pan be?
Can you make this in advance and freeze or fridge? if so any other tips&hints on what when when taking out the freezer? Many thank for response in advance. 🥰
What can you use instead of marmite or vegemite?
