I have the FNX standard. The cocked and locked feature was the clincher. I have small hands and can barely reach the trigger but pretty close to a 1911 when cocked and locked. @@thisSiteSucksHard The military doesn't consider cost as much of a factor as you may think to make a decision on their firearm choice. They actually never have. FN just released the FN 545 Tactical that is similarly chambered in .45 ACP, 1x15 Rds & 1x18+1 Rds offering. This is striker fired, probably a mirror of the 509 Tactical but in .45mm. It would be great to see a spec comparison of the new model vs the FNX-45 TAC.
You can get these under $1000 now. Fn runs a deal usually once a year where if you buy one you get a streamlight tlr 1 and vortex venom sight for $1100 something. They did the last 2 years at least. I saw with a light only this year so far. We’ll see black Friday.

Great gun, great review! Quick question, what is the difference between the FNP, and the FNX? I have the FNP and it seems identical in every aspect. Thanks!
I love this gun, and want one as a suppressor host. I wish FN would make a 10mm version. 17 rounds of 10mm would blow the 10mm competition out of the water.
What is your selection on pistol red dot's MOA? I have a G19 MOS with a Vortex Venom and run 6 MOA. I only use it as a CCW piece and I felt the larger dot would help a bit more with 3-20 foot shots but I have seen a lot of people run 3 MOA
I love this pistol. It's by far the smoothest and softest 45 ACP I've ever shot, so nice to take to the range and it just handles so well that it's really hard to beat. The form factor is a bit large but it's not designed to be a concealed carry option, I keep mine in my laptop bag as a back up to my EDC along with 5 magazines full of underwood, should be able to handle anything that comes along I would think. Excellent pistol and great review as always Chris.
Hey Outlaw, looking for the perfect home defense tool, would you pick this over the 545-t with the 18+1 mags? I’m a hammer fired fan, but those larger capacity mags are making me second guess myself.
Great weapon. I had a regular FNX45 for years. It had a major issue at first, but FN repaired it. Only thing I would like to see is it have a metal trigger like the CZ P09 & 07.
I had mine done, use it for backpacking. Only downside is that it only likes some 460 ammo. Failure to feed consistently with the wrong type, but 100% with the right stuff.
I love mine too. It's my Conceal carry weapon, I carry it in a shoulder holster and it's pretty awesome. How or why the Military turned it down for issue to the troops is beyond me?
Does anyone know if the sight cut for THIS gun is exact size and placement as on the FNX STANDARD .45? Or has the sight been moved back for the red dot cut from the standard .45?
Nice video. I'm looking at the same gun right now. Been comparing different guns, and this one seams to fit the bill. The one I'm looking at actually comes with the Vortex on it, sort of ready to rock.
I wonder would the FNX9 have the same drawbacks or would the slight size difference between the FNX45 and the FNX9 help any? Came across an FNX9 for 450 so couldn’t resist picking it up. Will be interesting to take it to the range and see how it holds up

I know this is an older video, but I have the FNX and absolutely love it. Glad you like it to
FYI, magazines from the older FNP-45 work flawlessly in the FNX-45 and visa versa!!!
Sample size of more than 25 FNP-45s and more than 50 FNX-45s.
They are awesome 460 Roland conversions!!! I have 2 FNX-45 Tacs so converted going on 4000+ rnds.
Hmmmmm? The P40 and X40 mags are not interchangeable. The mag lockups are not the same. I would think the 45 would be the same?
@@clintwaugh5323 I do not know about those. The FNP-45/FNX-45 magazines interchange and work perfectly.
NIch? I have one with a holosum greendot and I love it Very accurate. If you miss, you missed the gun hit where you were aiming. I love it
One HOT Pistol. FN nailed this one.
Really Enjoy Mine, Noting like 16 rounds of 230g Of Hate! Carry on
Had mine for over a year and only jammed on me once in over 1k shots but I think the casing was jacked up
Did you like it more than the FN 509 tactical 9mm?
I used to drool over this gun but I have moved on and now my sights are set on the FN 509 Tactical.
I was in a toss up 2 weeks ago over those. Decided on the fnx. Great price (a little over 9 plus shipping) and i've wanted it for years. Plus the 3 free mag offer going right now. Used the money i saved to buy a holosun 507c for it. BUTTTTT, The 509 tactical still whispers my name on quiet nights!😂😂😂 and sunny days, and days that are days, and nights that are dark...well, you get the picture!
bigboy40cal I too share your pain.
Random question... just picked up a brand new FNX .45 tactical and the locking block is slightly loose.. anyone seen this before...?
Great gun, great review! Quick question, what is the difference between the FNP, and the FNX? I have the FNP and it seems identical in every aspect. Thanks!
I love this gun, and want one as a suppressor host. I wish FN would make a 10mm version. 17 rounds of 10mm would blow the 10mm competition out of the water.
FN 510 has entered has entered the chat
@@spookyindeed I know, I'm excited. It wasn't rumored when I made the comment. That being said, I wish it were da/sa.
What's not to love. Threaded barrel ,frame safety decocker, double stack 45 with rail and rmr sights. Price though. That's hefty for a carry gun
Might trade my G19x for it or my lumber micro 9. And pay the rest in cash. Definitely seems like the perfect hand gun for target
Hey Outlaw, looking for the perfect home defense tool, would you pick this over the 545-t with the 18+1 mags? I’m a hammer fired fan, but those larger capacity mags are making me second guess myself.
Love my FNX 45 tactical.I wonder if FN will update a new version of its 45acp brother with its new optic system...
I only own 380 or 9mm caliber firearms but if I was to get a 45acp pistol, this is the one for me!
*Black Ops 2 flashbacks*
Hell yaa..45acp 💪💪"
Great weapon. I had a regular FNX45 for years. It had a major issue at first, but FN repaired it. Only thing I would like to see is it have a metal trigger like the CZ P09 & 07.
My favorite gun I own. Better than my Beretta PX 4 Storm and FNS 40C.
The one I own was assembled in Columbia, NC
Just bought fnx 45 tactical. Recommended grain for self defense? Targeting? Type? Brass or is nickel plated ok?
I have the FNX45 non tactical version, great nightstand companion
Might be getting one of these converted to 460 Rowland. 15+1 rounds of 44 magnum power kicks ass
They need to make a striker fired no safety modernized version called the 545 tactical or somethin I'd buy then, I have the 509T & love it
Does anyone know if the sight cut for THIS gun is exact size and placement as on the FNX STANDARD .45? Or has the sight been moved back for the red dot cut from the standard .45?
Looks like a great gun
So what is your favorite .9 .mm and .45 MM?
What are in your opinion the top 3 polymer 45’s?
Will be interesting to take it to the range and see how it holds up
Love your stuff. Here’s the thing I’m planning on buying the Steyr MF 9mm coming out this year. Do you plan on doing a review when it comes out. I own a HK VP9 and seems to have some similarities I like.
