There are also 2 other thread pitches for the .45 acp that are in metric and left hand thread patterns when dealing with suppressors that I know of. Usually you run into that with H&K and other foreign made manufacturers. 1/2x28 is for your typical 9mm threaded barrels and .578x28 is the typical .45 acp threaded barrels.
Got one of these in the FDE for my retirement and I purchased two extra mags for it. Also have the little brother 509 Tactical 9mm. The 45 is an awesome weapon!
I looked at one of these years ago. Finally decided to buy one a few weeks ago. I have to say, man I should have bought it a long time ago! If you love big 45 pistols this is your dream gun. Just buy it and enjoy.
Mine is really a night stand gun with a light so I can't speak to the finish really as it doesn't get holstered or in the dirt. It's fde finish so I would assume the slide would scratch If something hit it hard enough or show holster wear eventually.
Great video! I was able to purchase one of these that came with two BBL's. One regular and one threaded for a suppressor, and a threaded cap protector. Hand's down, the BEST handgun I own!!!
Just wanted to clear up the fact that the entire US Army 45 replacement program was canceled . All the major mfg’er’s entered a 45. The replacement program was revamped into a 9mm program and that’s the one that Sig won.
Super nice trigger. I tried trigger five yrs ago and hated it. Has something changed? I heard yrs ago that the trigger on this pistol isn't really customizable. Has something changed over the years re this trigger to your knowledge? Thx.
The round magazine base plates are to assist in shooting from the prone position. The rounded base plate allows you to roll the base platen around on the ground to get the right angle to shoot. The safety when in the up/SAFE doesn't lock the slide like the 1911. So you can load, unload, check, and clear with the safety on, disconnecting the trigger so the gun won't fire while you're fumbling with inserting the loaded magazine, dropping the slide down to chamber a live round and having that split second with a cocked hammer over a live round and a hot trigger.
Actually I would use the longer “extended magazine” pouch in the bag for a suppressor. Still need to get a suppressor for my FN FNX-45 Tactical. Some day. Mine does have a Trijicon RMR and a Surefire light. Great shooting pistol; but my suppressor height sites shoot a bit high at close range; so, I rely more on the red dot for closer in. Elevation not adjustable.
I just want to say thank you so much! I will be selling sling carrier online and I knew I wanted a zipper for the pocket but didn't know anything about zippers till you mentioned the YKK brand. Learning about textile accessories from a gun video!
lol. Yeah man! YKK zippers are the best and are used on a lot of military bags. As for material, if you are interested in good stuff, Cordura is super tough.
I love this pistol. It’s a big boy that shoots awesome. Shoots like a smaller pistol. Doesn’t feel like you are shooting a 45. I got it for home defense and size not an issue…My pistol only came with two magazines. 😕…I have to order at least 2 more magazines in the future.
The Sig 320 was adopted by the Army. It’s a versatile pistol that can change from different caliber’s. Different configuration for the military mission. I have had a 320. I also am looking to buy this FN .
That title would belong to the Mark 23. The only "offensive handgun" to excist therefore the most tactical. Side note unless FN changed the polymer it flexes way too much. The magwell flexes bending in on itself just by squeezing it by hand. On mine the 1913 rail bent down over time. Compared to the USP and Mark 23 the magwell or rail don't bend and flex.
That's really nice. I used to have a USP .45 but eventually sold it. It felt like a 2 x 4 in my hand. That's not why I sold it, but later I bought a Glock 30S and never looked back. It has a very comfortable grip. The grip on the FN looks a lot closer to the profile of a Glock than the HK...albeit with a flatter back strap. I wish that FN or HK would make a striker fired .45 ACP. I found this video when I was trying to see if FN has come out with an FN-509 in .45 ACP. BTW, I always wondered why FN put that goofy floor plate on the magazine. You're the first reviewer I know of to mention the reason for it. Kudos. Nice unboxing video.
I bought the FDE version about 3 years ago when you can get them at $950. I also bought the Silencerco Osprey 45 which took me 11 months for the tax stamp. You should get a suppressor for it because the FNX 45 Tactical is meant to be used suppressed. I also noticed yours only came with two mags? When I bought mine 3 years ago it came with 3 mags.

Bought the standard FNX. Not a fan of DA/SA, but the FNX's safety is frame mounted similar to the 1911 and can be carried cocked and locked. The SA trigger is good for a DA/SA, and livable for a combat pistol. Holsters are a painnto find but i did get some good Kydex holsters. The Fn509 was the gun in the Modular Handgun System competition That the sig won The fnp45 later the fnx45 was for another competition. The joint combat pistol competition
I'm pretty sure the pistol competition for a new pistol was with the .45 first not the 9mm. The U.S. was looking into going back to .45 ACP. FN submitted a gun similar to this one that was called the FNP. After testing the military decided it wasn't going back to .45. FN decided to sell the pistol to the civilian market with a few changes as the FNX. Magazines are not interchangeable between the two I read. The 9mm test in which the FN 509 placed third was years later in which the U.S. military chose the Sig M18 and M17.
Just bought mine about two weeks ago. Only had two 15 round mags. 15 rounders are very hard to come by right now. I managed to find some on line. But I had to keep searching until I finally found some. I was starting to get worried though. Because two mags is risky. One is none and two is one.
Thread pitch is NOT 1/2x28. That is for a 9mm barrel. FN is being technical because .578x28 is almost .6 wich is quite a big difference. That difference is because .45 cal is bigger than the .35 cal of the 9mm round.
I'm know nothing about guns... what is the difference between 9mm and .45 bullet pistols? Which one has more stopping power? and which bullets travel faster? Thank you!
They are both great cartridges that are capable in their own ways. I'll do my best to explain them and you will have to decide on what meets your standard of "better". 9mm uses a projectile (bullet) with a diameter of .355". The typical ammunition you would use at the range is 115gr FMJ which travels at 1,180 Feet Per Second (FPS) at the muzzle and has a muzzle energy of 355 Ft Lbs. For self defense I use a 124gr JHP which travels at 1,165 FPS with a muzzle energy of 374 Ft Lbs. I don't use anything in .45 so I don't have specifics on what is used for the range and for self defense so I'm just going to give you some standard stats on it. 230gr FMJ ammunition travels at 835 FPS and has an energy of 356 Ft Lbs. The 185gr JHP (assuming that's used for self defense) has a speed of 1,100 FPS and an energy value of 497 Ft Lbs. At the end of the day the (2) cartridges have differing ballistic characteristics but there are some downsides, in my opinion to .45 and that is capacity. You can easily carry 12 rounds of 9mm in the P365XL (a micro compact handgun) where as this FNX-45 has a capacity of 15 and it is a duty sized handgun. I personally enjoy the 9mm over the .45 purely based on a few things: capacity, cost, and the ballistics of the .45 are just not enough to cut the ammunition I can carry in half. However, you will always have the other side of the argument, "if you can't hit the target with 7 rounds of .45 then you need more range time." Generally said by those who still carry a 1911.
I carry a .45 acp for EDC but have several 9mm's. I was in the military and started with the .45 acp and ended with the .9mm. I agree with Gun box but would add these three considerations; 1. The 9mm ammo is much cheaper and more available. To some money is no issue , however some have to figure economics when buying a weapon. Less expensive ammo will assist in more time shooting and training. 2. Recoil, as an new shooter ( I assume) this is the one area that the 9mm has an advantage. It is has an easier recoil , which will eliminate many bad habits that recoil can cause in shooting. I have often practiced with Air pistols for the purpose of eliminating the physical reaction to recoil and focusing on Trigger Control. 3. Years ago the .45 acp was superior in knock down power and ending the fight. Today, 9mm ammo comes in many shapes, sizes and grains. Although statistically, the .45 acp is more of a fight stopper, 9mm has the advantage of carrying more rounds. Additionally, the ammo industry has improved the 9mm's stopping power from years ago. I would recommend the 9mm for your situation but am not telling you what to buy. I have taught Marksmanship and have owned weapons for over 40 years. I feel comfortable advising a complete stranger to go 9mm based on what you posted and observers/ teaching Marksmanship for a little bit. I don't believe you'd be out gunned with a 9mm at this stage in your Gun Ownership. Best of Luck and wish you the best. Semper Fi
This isn’t a personal firearm but was for the business. However, I don’t think it’ll cause any issues with your concerns. The hammer sits pretty high up as compared to where the webbing of your hand will be.
just purchased one today, they use to come with 3 mags now they only come with 2 mags. while i was checking it out i felt the barrel move quite a bit, does your barrel (non cocked) move at all? does it have any play?
The base plate of the magazines, is designed for people who plat form shoot with their secondary hands, like i do. It helps create a sturdier platform to shoot off of when using i grip like I do. I tried a modern grip versus how i hold it. I found this gun is more accurate with my old school grip;
Yep glad I went with sig. Half my gun isn't plastic. And my P227 tacops came with 4-14rnd mags all for $400 less then FN FNX. I got the optic cut I want, no plates needed for an additional $100. And again half my gun isn't Tupperware. Still weights less by 1oz. Have a Scar H I know they make duty level quality. Maybe I'm a touch boomer but guns aren't supposed to be made at the rubber made factory with cheaper material and cost more.
@@tonyg4744 you look foolish for not doing your research. It's a well documented issue. If you knew how to search on the internet you would find I'm not the only one with the issue.

My wife bought an FNX 45, put about 20 rounds threw it and the rear sight came off. She returned it to FN for repairs and they accused her of dropping it.

One of the best handguns you could buy, period.
Weak grade ploymer and the grip angle on this thing is fucking terrible

Mine came with 3 mags, is the ffl reselling everyone’s 3rd magazine?
I have large hands, the minimal beavertail coupled with the external hammer concerns me. Have you noticed any hammer bite when shooting it?
This isn’t a personal firearm but was for the business. However, I don’t think it’ll cause any issues with your concerns. The hammer sits pretty high up as compared to where the webbing of your hand will be.
you mentioned extended magazines several times. Can we get a link to those magazines or a brand to look towards?
I think the 15 round mags are the extended mags. The flush mags hold 13 rounds.
You'll have better luck modifying your own extension. Whatever you do don't buy Cain Arms extensions they don't work.
you can own these in cali ?
Clever channel name.
Thanks man!
God it looks so good
just purchased one today, they use to come with 3 mags now they only come with 2 mags.
while i was checking it out i felt the barrel move quite a bit, does your barrel (non cocked) move at all? does it have any play?
Do you mean slide locked open? Then yes the barrel moves. Its perfectly normal other pistols so the same.
The base plate of the magazines, is designed for people who plat form shoot with their secondary hands, like i do. It helps create a sturdier platform to shoot off of when using i grip like I do. I tried a modern grip versus how i hold it. I found this gun is more accurate with my old school grip;
How would the grip of this compare to a glock 21? I had a glock 21 and it just felt too big
Glock is thicker
Is it steel or aluminium?
Stainless steel they quit stamping it on the slide a while ago
@@jasonb8705 is this the softest of all 45 ? is the accuracy good?
at last, some video about this gun without puting any accessory like red dot and light
Mine only had 2 Mags, ordered a 3rd for $45.
Really? I bought the FDE version 3 years ago it came with 3 mags.
Oh remember when they used to include 3 mags?
The gun is not 1 /2x28 barrel thread
Can I buy, just the bag? It's a really sexy bag.
How's that magwell flex working for you? I'll bet your 1913 rail even flexes of you pull down on it.
No flex at all. You should know what you’re talking about before you speak…makes you look foolish
@@tonyg4744 you look foolish for not doing your research. It's a well documented issue. If you knew how to search on the internet you would find I'm not the only one with the issue.
Fixed long ago I assure you no flex or squishynes

I have three all in tactical black, Just don't care for the fifty shades of Flat Dark Earth.
Oh, and numbers mean a great deal, you might want to learn some of them.
What did you pay for this beauty?
I’ve seen on many stores around 1199, or 1299 it really depends.
I bought mine 3 years ago when it was cheaper at $950. PSA had them for $800 on sale before that was years ago.
I gave $500 for mine gently used
Хороший обзор на отличное оружие!
Yo quiero una pero pago si melatrayn al puerta de casa esta bien bonita
u know u put ur gun numbers on the internet
About 95% of them aren’t even mine at all. I’m a dealer outside of YT.
But let’s say they were mine, what would the issue be with having them out there? What could you or anyone else do with them? I’ve always wondered why people attempt to conceal them online.
@@GunBoxTherapy I’ve heard people can report it stolen just by having your serial number

My wife bought an FNX 45, put about 20 rounds threw it and the rear sight came off. She returned it to FN for repairs and they accused her of dropping it.

Doubt
@@chilldudie242 yes you were there. I remember you were on your knees in front of me. Or was that your sister? I don't doubt that.
His gunshop took one its a scam they pull on the unsuspecting or alternatively they will swap in a cheaper mag or shorter one
They ship with 2. They did have 3 a year or more ago
No 10mm
No 357 Sig
No 5.7x28
My disappointment is profound.

Don’t ride the slide back in your videos. It’s better to see how it moves forward naturally.
