Umpire is 100 percent correct and manager acts the fool anyway. Where is the public apology to the umpire? Where is the accountability for being wrong and acting like an ass?
Skip actually said that Roberto is a good guy but just had a disagreement on the strike zone, which is very professional for a manager to say after he is ejected
Balls and strikes can't be called. Smaller, heavier new balls are too fast. Also on the bases--ball moves too fast in the air. Also solar flares changing earth's gravity as ball move faster toward earth. Society's values shot too--that's the bigger less solvable problem.
That’s what it looks like.. oh, and 185 was already posted too. We’ve already reached the guaranteed… 1 ejection /day average for the regular season. MLB needs to crack down. this crap filters down to the lower levels. Fans think it’s ok to rail on sports officials.. and MLB is encouraging it.
I love how the commentators almost always describe the ejectee as "mild-mannered" or "not normally demonstrative" after they've just been ejected and had a screaming match with the officials
Allowing electronics ( Ipads, TVs, and whatever else) was the worst move in MLB history. Well maybe not the worst but it sure has given the dugout ammunition to argue.
How will MLB reconcile a ball/strike challenge system with the fact that broadcast zones vary so much? Will MLB force broadcasts to abandon showing any on screen strike zone graphic? The situation seems ripe to confuse the casual fan.
Maybe they'll use a different computer, or compute ball/strike off of the raw data not the stupid graphic. They won't need it to be "realtime" like the broadcasts if it's just for challenges.
The thing about the zone we see on TV is that NONE of them are right. The definition of the zone height is variable. The height is supposed to be the bottom of the kneecaps to the mid point of the individual batter. Naturally this means that the zone changes almost every AB so it is a train wreck in the making.
@@Redpoppy80 well they will probably have to spend some bucks at every stadium and pipe the computed strike zone being used for strikes and balls to each broadcast in real time just like the teams would see so they can ask for appeals.
Well, I don’t want to add insult to injury to the Marlins & their fan base, but unfortunately it’s about to be 14 out of 15 road losses for them at this point. Timestamps: ⏺️ 0:48: Marlins Broadcast - "Did he get tossed?" Uh yes, Avisail Garcia got tossed for arguing balls & strikes. ⏺️ 1:12: Reds Broadcast (1) - "So, he's (Avisail Garcia); getting his money's worth now that he's already out of the game." Mario coin ding, please once more Lindsay? Thanks. 😂🤣😂🤣 ⏺️ 2:21: Reds Broadcast (2) - "And Schumaker's been tossed". Final Score: Reds 5; Marlins 2. My Thoughts: ⏺️ It's no surprise that the Miami Marlins are struggling. However, for Avi, those were the correct strike calls, not balls. And, of course, as the old saying goes, if you argue balls & strikes, your day is done for the rest of the game. As for the manager, well, it's just the frustration of seeing the current results on the field. I'm not surprised that he was going to get tossed too. ⏺️ This team (Marlins); was once a possible playoff contender for this season. Instead, they are in 3rd place in the NL East with a 58-56 record with 48 games left. Oh dear. Will they make the postseason, or miss it? Stay tuned... ⏺️ Also, now I am hungry for a meatball sub. Thanks Lindsay. 😂🤣😂🤣
Yeah, that's the way it went down. Garcia doesn't know the strike zone and Shumaker got his nose in the ipad too much. Hilarious. Atta babe Roberto. Looking good out there.
With a leftie throwing and the camera angle this far from the left field side, inside pitches to RH batters might seem to be out of the strike box. Tough pitches to hit but they are strikes. A camera angle a bit more from center field would be better.
those pitches are exactly what every lefty needs to do to be effective vs rightys. Sorry but batters just going up there with no intention to defend the plate or make a swing and then COMPLAIN on close calls.
i blame the uniforms marlins need to go back to the old good ones and just change the F to a M and they're all set , immediately go from bottom 5 worst uni's to top 5 best uni's in the league
The Asian players in the league have the added benefit of being able to say whatever heck they want to an ump in their native language and get away with it! Spanish speaking players just have to be sure the ump is a gringo.

Hiding behind a mask and being dismissive of a player or manager is just gutless. Be a man, stand in there and support your decisions/calls. Players and managers will have much more respect for you if you do. Oh wait, umpires don't have to worry about being responsible for their actions or losing their jobs no matter how bad they are at it. Sorry, I forgot. Umps shouldn't be allowed to hear any private team conversations... as human beings, they are subject to allowing active immediate gossip -- or even strategy in some cases -- affect their emotions.
You do realize that the umpire goes out to break up the meeting as it is taking up too much time. The umpire could careless about the conversation and its content. In this case, the manager most likely baited the umpire to come out so he could give him a piece of his mind.
It wasn't a private team conversation. In fact, they are there specifically to make sure that teams don't use pitchcom or trainer visits for strategy in order to avoid getting charged a mound visit. Even then, they reach the mound on actual mound visits because they have to break up the meeting.
The fact that you knew he wanted a meatball sub is amazing. This kind of expertise is why I subscribe.
