"The story was problemtic" What as problemtic, about the original? Its about a Young girl, running away from a abusive woman, who finds happiness in the most unlikly places and by the end of the film finds true love? Im sorry whats wrong with that?
the problem is abusive women do not exist because "believe all women". according to shill media, abusers can only be men and nothing else. all women should be girl bosses and are ready to be CEO of the world the moment they are born. according to shill media they are only being held back by men.
Also cause who framed Roger rabbit was specifically working with toons, this could have had just actual people with dwarfism but for some god knows reason used cgi nightmare fuel
@@kingrippzard2027 there was also no uncanny valley issue with Roger Rabbit because they didn't try to make the toons look real. The dwarfs are supposed to be real and look odd as a result. The toons were supposed to look like toons (and did) and it looked good as a result.
LoL Who Framed Roger Rabbit is 2d characters against live action, not shitty 3d characters *trying* to look real. Roger Rabbit looks infinitely better than this tripe.
Obviously that Disney shill hasn't seen Who Framed Roger Rabbit because if he did then he'd know what it was about and why the live action characters interacted with animated characters.
thats what mentally damaged people do... straw man arguments, and forcing their opinions upon others to imply validity. They often selectively seek obscure data and present it as overwhelming facts in order to override their obvious issue... that they have mental problems that dont align with the advancement of mankind in any productive way
Snow White is a lot older than that. The Grimm brothers collected German folktales that were told time out of mind from generation to generation in their local Germany. They made it their academic mission to record the stories for posterity before they were lost. Culturally all these fairytales/folklore both from the Grimm Brothers and also nursery rhymes are hugely important works and honestly messing with them does a disservice to all of us who value European cultural heritage. Disney have always played fast and loose with the original stories but the current crop are a bloody travesty. See also how they are taking a wrecking ball to Tolkien, one of the greatest writers in the English language (which is a particularly high bar) who’s work is again hugely culturally important to anyone actually from the these islands. Disney don’t seem to care what they are doing. They are intellectually bankrupt
They missed the opportunity to do Snow White and the seven sicarios as Snow White fights against the Snow Queen to reclaim her father's umm, 'kingdom'.

Halle Bailey said her version of the Little Mermaid was absolutely necessary for black girls to envision themselves as fantasy characters then turned around and claimed that when she was a little girl, she was inspired by the LIttle Mermaid t swim around her pool and pretend to be Ariel. They could/ve like, not made Little Mermaid live action and just release the cartoon and it would have the same effect Halle Bailey claimed the world needed. By cartoon, I mean the Disney Junior show, only Rachel Zegler and her acolytes would diss an animated classic by calling them "cartoons.
Remaking Snow White with 2024 "sensibilities" was absurd from the beginning. White people=bad so the namesake of the protagonist doesn't make sense. Love for a man=bad so no true love for our protagonist and all the enrichment that can bring to her life. Woman doing domestic labor=bad so let the protagonist mooch off the dwarves and not contribute, that's a likeable quality. Depending on others, especially men=bad so let's make sure the protagonist can girl boss her way to victory somehow. WHAT IS THIS MOVIE AND WHO IS IT FOR?
They fail to realize femininity is strength. Disney thinks turning into a man is strong. Ask any guy out there, from a construction worker to a lawyer to a drug dealer…they’ll all say their mom was strong AF because emotions are a vital part of life. Women give men an understanding of life beyond fixing things and watching football. This film seems to not get any of that and instead makes Snow White somebody completely different than the original. It’s very sad how out of touch Disney is right now
Let's take Little Mermaid as an example.. after limited Ariel HB merch that soon ended in discount bins disney retuned to red haired Ariel threading HB one as limited gimmick, SW remake will have the same fate
The less than 1% of the worlds population who don't have the money to go and watch it but naturally it will be all our fault when it bombs for not going to watch a movie that wasn't made for us.
"Why didn't they cast real dwarf actors?". You can thank Peter Dinkledge for that, he got his rise to fame and pulled up the ladder before anyone else could make it.
@@kateandrova If my memory serves me correct, Disney already had a group of dwarf actors hired for snow white. However, dinkledge came out and said that it would be offensive to cast real dwarf actors. I can't remember his reason (some bs I'm sure). After that Disney took his word over all others for some reason and fired all the actors they had chosen (They didn't want to be offensive). So whether it was his intention or not, he denied 7 dwarf actors a major motion picture role, potentially killing their chance at a big break.
Dear Disney, if the old cartoon is so problematic, and outdated, why did you have to REMAKE that very cartoon, then? Why don't you make a whole new story that's up to 2024 sensitivities? It's like repainting the Monalisa with AI, you bunch of creatively devoid hacks.
The original movie is a watered down and infantilised version of the Germanic folk tale in the first place. Disney has been an abominable blight on European folklore ever since they got into the "fairytale" business. This is a bad remake of a bad remake. It's odd that they expect 21st Century gender politics in a Medieval folktale. If they wish for greater ethnic diversity there is an almost bottomless well of folktales from other cultures outside of Europe. They supposedly want to reach a "global audience" so why not portray their stories. It seems utterly absurd to make a movie about an old European folktale and then call it "old fashioned and too Eurocentric". Disney.... You picked the source material.
@@AshesWake-sf7uwwhy make it if youre not going to do the whole story? Them saying its a waterd down version is just true, whether you think its good or not
Because they love historical revisionism. They want to erase everything that can be viewed as problematic in regards to today's political climate. I'm sure that won't age poorly at all in 50 years.
I mean, the biggest blunder of this movie is to suggest that a queen who looks like Gal Gadot would somehow be envious of Rachel Zegler's beauty and feel threatened by it. Suspension of disbelief can only be stretched so far.
Not only feminine, but gracious and grateful. The 2024 one is entitled and bratty, not to mention detached from reality and hideously unattractive (at all levels).
"Have you not seen Roger Rabbit?" Yes, and that actually looked good because they blended HAND DRAWN 2D animation into the real world with PRACTICAL EFFECTS, brilliantly. Plus, that was an actual good movie with talented actors and crew.
The difference is that the toons in Roger Rabbit were *supposed* to be cartoons. The dwarfs in Snow White are supposed to be as realistic as Snow White herself and they just look neither cartoon nor photo realistic, which is precisely the thing that lands them in Uncanny Valley.
Sorry, it's dated in it's view of women in power? There are only two in the movie - one IS the Queen, the other BECOMES the Queen of the entire country. How much empowerment do they want? "Hello, God, it's Rachel Zegler...."
Yes but one of them needs help from a man one time, so you know, that completely destroys her agency and independence because she needed a man’s help one time in her life.

Why does something immediately become "bad" if it's more than 20 years old? Isn't art supposed to preserve history? Isn't art not fitting in modern society supposed to be normal?
Messages and cultural things might change with time, but saying that makes it bad is just such a dumb take. Even the propoganda cartoon with donald duck about the nazis is still a good cartoon. Its even a good view on what people thought back in the day. And its animated very well hence why it stands the test of time. People wanting to remove and replace something even if it is problematic is just the opposite of what you should do. Look back on it how different we are now and how much we have grown as society, instead of hiding it and pretending it never happend. Sorry no idea why i went on a rant haha
I wouldn't say art is "supposed" to preserve history. Art is whatever you want it to be. Whether it is completely fictional, a message of it's time or even wishful thinking of what you hope that time would be. If you want to make a new version of a story you are welcome to do it, even the previous snow white movie is an adaptation of a story made before movies where even a thing. Peoples don't have to like your choices though. And they shouldn't be surprise that the peoples that liked the previous story are put off by their choices. And yes, older stuff not fitting modern society is perfectly normal, it is crazy to think otherwise. As if society isn't evolving at all.
"Extremely dated in terms of women being in roles of power." Who had the power in Snow White? A)Dwarves? B)Hunter? C)The queen who orders a hit then uses magic disguises and poison to maintain her beauty in order to perpetuate her p*wer?

While you are correct, the current political/philosophical framework through which people engage in criticism requires that there be a clear binary where there is a subjugated and a subjugator. In Marxist critical theory this is the bourgeoisie vs the proletariat. In feminist critical theory this is the women vs the patriarchy. In critical race theory that is :insert minority here: vs “whiteness.” In gay critical theory it is lgbt vs “heteronormativity.” The problem with this framework of critical theory isn’t that these kind of binary struggles don’t exist, it’s that they aren’t the primary or fundamental struggles that critical theorists think they are. As you pointed out, envy is the primary driver of the antagonist, but a critical theorist could never come to that conclusion because it doesn’t represent a power imbalance in a binary system.

Just google "Who framed roger rabbit" if you don't know about the movie and you will understand how braindead the counter point was.
Idk why he even thought that was a good point. Mary poppins had live action and animation way before Roger rabbit and it played well because they didn’t try to dress up the animation as live action. “Have you seen Roger Rabbit” is a straw man if I’ve ever seen it. Roger Rabbit was a labor of love made with pure hand made animation about cartoons and humans living together. This is a remake that wants everything to look real yet ends up looking like ass because instead of just casting real people they chose CGI monstrosities
They probably used cgi because its cheaper than finding rare, real dwarf people that probably will be expensive to find enough. Still I bet they would justify it in saying it would insulting somehow, as if brining any attention to a disability and acknowledging not everyone is the same is politically incorrect

When the guy says that a story about true love is "problematic", shows a lot not only about society, but also about the family he grew up with. Poor guy. Must've never been loved as a child.
Problematic because the Prince kisses Snow White without her consent. Gee, so instead, he does nothing, she stays in her glass coffin, good dies, evil wins, the end. What an idiot.
True love is a bad idea because it's a non-realistic standard. Believing in true love leads to bad outcomes for people in real life. It's better to assume you will have loved and you'll also have to work for it. There will be ups and downs. Then the one in 10,000 couples who actually do have true love like John basilone and his wife can just accept the fact that they are an unusual situation. But most people are going to have to work at it. And believing that true love is the common case will lead to a lot of old, sad, lonely single people.
Why even make a live action of an old film if you're going to change everything about the original story? Just make something seperate with new characters at that point.
ya know I had the same kinda thought, like wasn't the queen "cute" but not beautiful and that was why she didn't like snow white? Kinda crazy to cast Gal and act like we are sticking to it. It's that social thing we ALL have to do or face ridicule "yas queen you're a 10 as well!" says the 6. BTW I don't give a shit what number I am, I'm not an actor that survives off looks and ego.
"Fair" in the original film could mean beautiful, just, or pale in complexion. Equally true in any case. I always thought that was fun. Now? "Spieglein, Spieglein an der Wand, wer ist die Schönste im ganzen Land?" Happy to be corrected by a native speaker, but my understanding is that "Schönste" is unambiguously "most beautiful". Good luck with that.
Yes I agree. Gal Gadot is a 10 and Rachel Ziegler is an eighth at best. Take away the makeup and gal Gadot was a 10 and Rachel Ziegler is maybe a 7. However gal Gadot has pleasant facial expressions both while talking and at rest and has a good smile. Rachel Ziegler's facial mannerisms reduce her attractiveness by another notch. The way she flares her eyes unconsciously makes her look a little crazy and angry.
On the bright side everyone, apparently the daily wire is doing a FAITHFUL live action remake of Snow White that we can all look forward to. That’ll also hopefully help open Disneys eyes to what people actually like and love, but knowing them I doubt it will.
Everybody knows the story of Snow White. If you change the story dramatically, it's NOT Snow White anymore. If you want to tell a different story, write an original story, but Disney is terrible at writing original stories in recent times.
Considering Disney has almost never wrote an actual, original tale outside of their Mickey cartoons, I'd be more concerned if they started trying. Nearly all of their films are folktale adaptations which already disqualifies them from the "original story" title.

If Disney wants to continue being the Fairy Tale company, they're going to have to accept that fairy tales are not politically correct. They never were. Now insert James Randi into the mix. And all of a sudden, someone is actually challenging these people. People en masse saw how phony these magicians were. . Point is, the problem is echo chambers. Social media is the perfect ground for echo chambers. Just delete anyone that doesn't agree with you, or challenges your beliefs in any way... and all of a sudden you are surrounded by people who blindly agree with everything you say and never challenge anything that comes out of your mouth... Pair that with a low IQ, and these people can get some really over inflated egos and misplaced confidence in their nonexistent intelligence. So when they leave those echo chambers, it often looks like this.

Half their clothes, toys, etc. are all disney merch and suffer the similar jacked price for subpar quality. I struggle to find them proper gifts because a lot of what they ask for is disney crap. Any time I visit them, the parks become a forced conversation topic at least once. Many other similar cases & I honestly wish these people had booze or weed as their addiction so at least they'd maybe have a bit more money left over and a better chance for some self-awareness to see the shamefulness of their addiction.
Why would they compare this s*** to who framed Roger rabbit? every single drawing character is 2D which allows for control over how the character looks, whereas in this they are intentionally supposed to look real but they're still trying to cram the original art style into it making it look awful.
It's perfectly fine to dislike Snow White because they cast a POC as Snow White. There is nothing wrong with that and don't let them bully you into thinking otherwise.
They keep saying the movie was made 85 years ago. Well, the actual story THAT 85 year old movie was based on, is actually 400 years old. I would wager a bet that, based solely on the age and longevity of the snow white story, it must resonate with people on a fundamentally human level. If not, it wouldve been forgotten like most stories from that time. The same woke people ranting about how outdated the snow white cartoon/story is, would be furious if they learned that in 400 years, humanity remakes Harry Potter and changes the fundamental elements of the story and its plot because the ideas and situations described in the books/movies are outdated and therefore, ignorant and bad. Just imagine a 10 mile wide comet hit the earth tomorrow. Half the worlds population would be dead within the first week due to starvation caused by a lack of doordash drivers 😱😭
They didn’t use actual dwarf actors because after making millions as a dwarf actor, Peter Dinklage said being a dwarf actor was demeaning, so Disney decided to use CGI dwarves instead.
There's 7 dwarf characters in this film, and only a handful of known-name Hollywood dwarf actors. If they used dwarves then that's a flooding of a small market and the Dink probably wouldn't get a chance to demean himself for megabucks anymore (Warwick Davis' career stalled after PD became the go-to dwarf casting directors wanted).
They don't even actually need real dwarf actors. They could do same thing Lord of the Rings & The Hobbit did to make dwarf characters using prosthetics and camera techniques. If they did it in 22 years ago why can't Disney do it also now? Maybe because director and staff is incompetent.

Snow White was a grim tale from 1812. So the story has lasted more than 200 years. Rachel ziegler will not be remembered

It is on brand... Even 1937 was with "1937" sensibilities compared with original

Actually Snow White isn't about love, and it isn't about roles of power, either.
It's about envy and its negative consequences.
It’s also about not judging a book by its cover

On the bright side everyone, apparently the daily wire is doing a FAITHFUL live action remake of Snow White that we can all look forward to. That’ll also hopefully help open Disneys eyes to what people actually like and love, but knowing them I doubt it will.

Agreed! Everything woke turns to crap.
Everybody knows the story of Snow White. If you change the story dramatically, it's NOT Snow White anymore. If you want to tell a different story, write an original story, but Disney is terrible at writing original stories in recent times.
Disney write an _original_ story instead appropriating an existing one? *But that would take work!* /s 😂
Considering Disney has almost never wrote an actual, original tale outside of their Mickey cartoons, I'd be more concerned if they started trying. Nearly all of their films are folktale adaptations which already disqualifies them from the "original story" title.
@@ForeverLaxxWait what about the movie the Aristocats and lion king? Was that folklore? I loved Disney when I was a kid. I dislike everything they have become now though.

@@Voldrim359 Actually, Encanto did well, and it's a perfect example of what we're talking about. An original Disney movie about a Hispanic family with a strong female protagonist who doesn't fit the idealized standard of beauty, and a message of not being limited by the lot you're dealt in life. It fits the Disney agenda just fine, but it works because it doesn't ruin a classic.
If Disney wants to continue being the Fairy Tale company, they're going to have to accept that fairy tales are not politically correct. They never were.
And if that kind of thing bothers you, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves is one of the worst. The title itself references a woman who's beautiful specifically because of the fairness of her skin and a group of people who are outsiders because they're physically distinct from the norm. But you know what? It's just a story. It's not a manifesto. It's not scripture. It's only "problematic" if you think every story has to push a specific moral.
If you want to make a Snow White movie and you're still trying to be politically correct, you have 3 choices.
1. Don't make the movie.
2. Make the movie but just tell the story. Accept that it's not going to fit your agenda, and leave out the agenda.
3. Make the movie, push your agenda, and accept the consequences.
Disney chose #3. And now we're seeing the consequences.

The whole premise of Who Framed Roger Rabbit is that it takes place in a universe where real people live among cartoon characters. That premise isn’t in Snow White. He picked a horrible example to defend bad cgi.
His desperate grasp for a strawman didn't leave him any time to actually think it through.
Not only does Roger Rabbit avoid the uncanny valley by sticking to a cartoon look, but they also put way more forethought into every aspect of filming to make the practical props react to the cartoon action as seamlessly as possible; it wasn't a 5-reshoots-deep figure-it-out-in-post shitshow
1:56 "Have you not seen "Who framed Roger Rabbit?" ... well, there's someone who doesn't understand what the "uncanny valley" is - if Disney had used the 2-D animations from the 1937 movie, it would work out SO much better.
People said the initial animation for Sonic the Hedgehog was terrible. Rather than complain, they redid the entire animation for him for the movie. That movie ended up doing well very and has now started a Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe.

You may not have been alive during the big rise of magicians around the 70s/80s. They most likely were around a bunch of people who never challenged anything they did.

Poor guy from Disney ... If the story is problematic, why remake the story at all. Just do a novel modern fairy tale.
He’s not from Disney, he’s a liberal pundit that’s on his show a lot and is basically the LGBT representation
" the movie is problematic " then don't make a live action of a problematic movie
Rachel is THE worst. 🤮
They didn’t use actual dwarf actors because after making millions as a dwarf actor, Peter Dinklage said being a dwarf actor was demeaning, so Disney decided to use CGI dwarves instead.
I bet he's finding all those 0000's in his bank account 'demeaning'
And they could have used other actors. They could have given the actors the choice.
Yeh Dinklage kicking the ladder away for other dwarf actors after gaining fame and making huge amounts of money himself.
So they can add their propaganda to the film. Because the communist has zero creativity and only take from the past to destroy it.
