Why watching Rings of Power roasting videos are so much fun 😅. Haven’t watched a single episode of Season 2 after watching Sauron turns into venom in first 10 minutes..
Discout wildebeast migration.but instead of strong animals they are retarded humanoids. Atleast wildebeast migrate to follow the source of water, the discount hobbits migrate for the lols
i mean, this is a species in which a 1940s african-american stereotype can give birth to a full-blooded south asian... so why can't you suspend your disbelief to make the plot happen?
Yep, Guyladriel is legitimately the worst main character in any show I can remember. It is legitimately mind boggling they don't see how insufferable she is.
I remember how excited I was when I first heard about a Middle-Earth TV series taking place in the First and Second Ages. The hype was so real for me. And then Rings of Power came... I can't believe I waited so many years for *this* garbage. I feel betrayed.
I was excited when I first heard about it, but was measured in my expectations. And then every single interview and preview and article on the show made it more and more clear that the showrunners and cast had absolutely no interest (or ability) in adapting Tolkien's work. Everything was about skin color, and "redress of balance" and making the show "reflect the real world". I couldn't have had any less interest when it came out. I've never watched any of it (save in videos like this) and I never will.
The world is full of people - some large some small, some good - and some evil. The worst of us have no principals, no integrity, no virtue. They feel only a black void inside, with no love or joy for the world or other people. Because they are so ugly on the inside, they are self conscious and care a lot about how others see them. They insist they are not evil, but good- and must loudly proclaim it, and fabricate evidence of their goodness. This is a sure sign that a person is not good. Good people spend their time helping others, making the world a better place and advocating for themselves their friends family community and faith. Virtue signalers are mostly psychopaths who rely on public image to some degree. They CULTIVATE a moral image, where normal people try to live a moral life. The sins of these authors and how they stained their souls so dark they need to virtue signal this much to compensate... the mind boggles...
Pretty sure the whole terrible Rings of Power "flop" and excessive spending is a planned business loss to offset 2024 taxes Amazon owes to the government from 2023 carryovers. " I've got this 1 billion dollars in my pocket, and by God it is uncomfortable on my bum when I sit down. and the government wishes me to (of all things) actually pay "taxes" on it. However do I get rid of this troublesome 1 billion dollars in my pocket? It's just bothering me to no end." lol
Before this is all over, the show-runners will try to ret-con LOTR with just that, and when they do and people complain, they will ask "why do you care?" And no one will watch it.
But only on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Who always voted "Democrat" never mind Republicans never owned African slaves as the rich Southern Democrat Plantation owners did. And Republican President Lincoln, not a Democrat President who actually freed the slaves. "Never let the facts get in the way of the Truth", as Russia says. lol
the writers think being passive aggressive and snarky is being wise and their lack of morals shows through the character interactions because they have no values, really just seems like they have 100 phrases for each character written by a.i and they throw them in, i cant tell if they gaslight intentionally or what

I have a suspicion. I think like this is how a lot of unhappy women feel in our society. I mean, they think this is how stronk women look like and behave. But the sad reality is tha t hey are just showing their inner problems in this way. As a result, we have an entertainment industry literally filled with this stronk (but in reality just angry) women bossing stupid, weak men.
Instead of having characters acting based on grounded values and principles, it's all based on what feels right/good at the moment disregarding whatever happened before...
Some funny comments I have found on other videos - 1. Anya Taylor Joy looks more elf than every elf in The Rings of Power. 2. The actress who played Galadriel once described her character as older than moon. Someone commented "older than moon, but still act like spoiled teenager". 3. Peter Jackson hired actual elves to play elves. Amazon hired orcs to play elves and writers of the show. 4. Amazon is orcwashing the elves.
But Amazon didn't teach the orcs the full English Language, figuring 30-40% was good enough to create a J.R.R. Tolkien piece. It's not like the guy was from Great Britain where "English" was invented or had a PHD in English and taught English as a college Professor at Oxford University England's oldest and most prestigious college. Not at all. 1 year community college should do the trick for the orcs to write a script furthering Tolkien's story bringing it to new heights. Thanks for the laugh.
What really makes me angry is: we could have an amazing Fantasy show based on Tolkien's work, with all the money, resources & technology, that Amazon has available. Instead we got this pile of excrement. (Same goes with the Wheel of Time or Witcher adaptations.)
When the news of a Wheel of time adaptation came out I was still green and un-jaded so I was very excited about it. My god, my disappointment was immense. I loved those books but couldn't even finish the second episode. By the time this show was announced I had already given up hope that it would be any good. Still managed to watch the first three episodes so I guess it was a bit more watchable then that Wheel of Time atrocity.
I don't know about Wheel of Time, but the Witcher had the budget of a orange juice + cream crackers, that would be a tough adaptation even if they hired real writers
add Sandman, Altered carbon, Cowboy Bebop, the Alien and Terminator movies, Lucifer, Mad Max, and probably a few others, that were some of my very favorite books or movies that got bent over and shot through with "the Message"
You can tell they're desperately trying to fill the time. I've been obsessed with South Korean tv recently, after the Drinker kindly recommended Kingdom. They don't try to fill time, they work hard to shoehorn all their brilliant ideas in. Galadriel looks like a ferret, and Elrond looks like a frickin beansprout. I happened to catch Arwen's introduction in Fellowship on tv a few months ago, and the beauty took me away from my crappy life and made me cry with joy. There's NO beauty here.
The amount of slow pauses between words in this show is f****** criminal. A 30-second conversation in the real world will take 5 minutes in this show. And what do you ever text me most is they think they're being Tolkienien with dialect in words and phrases but it comes off as f****** cheap Dollar store. They think they're changing people's lives with some of this dialogue but it's making me want to jump into an ocean with no life raft, like they had galadriel do.
Oh and don't get me started on the character assassination of galadriel in this series. They took my favorite fantasy character of all time and reduced her into a insufferable b****. They think making a strong woman means making her into a douchebag guy roll
@@zogwort1522 none of the elves in the show look like tolkien elves. There is nothing ethereal about them. And it has nothing to do with skin color for me it's the portrayal in general of them. They just portray them like men with pointy ears
Agree. There's just no heart in it. It's cynical and soulless, just moving cut-outs around, with long pauses in between nothing happening. I've been re-watching Foundation (trying to see if ROP wasted Ben Daniels as Cirdan). Foundation is also horrifically bad, but at least the scenes are bright and engaging, some of the actors are having fun, and it's not DARK!!
Haters of the show are evil they say? Let's see what our boy Tolkien had to say about evil. "Evil is not able to create anything new, it can only distort and destroy what has been invented or made by the forces of good". Fascinating, it appears the author of the beloved world these hacks are corrupting would deem them evil, go figure.
Calling it now. The reveal for the homeless dude being Gandalf is gonna be from the downsyndrome harfoot trying to say “grand elf” and its gonna come out all fucked up. It’s like a shitty version of “Hodor” from Game of Thrones
because they can't create anything new with it. It's all just member berries to past success. Just watched Andor finally and it's crazy how there is basically no DEI shit and it's a unique story using the Star Wars world that doesn't really have many call backs to the movies... it's just a new story. Its refreshing.
i was told to "cope harder" and that I'm just a hater when I said the exact same words on this video's title. People's standards have either gone to hell or those are bot accounts trying to defend the atrocity that this show was, I and will continue to be until season 5 (?)
"The idiotic writers think the audience is stupid and not them." Current year Hollyweird in a nutshell. Everything they touch turns to garbage, because they are garbage.
Be glad we can do countless other things other than consooming their sludge. But there is no escape from this prison planet full of ignorance and corruption. Things could be so much better, knowing but feeling powerless is the worst...
And it's amusing to remember the writers strike, some people felt sorry about them (mostly to win internet points, the infamous "wholesomeness"). It's hard to imagine Hollywood performing a even worse job, hiring even more incompetent "writers"... but hell, you can never underestimate their standards. Reminds me the NFL, refs entered on a lockout, here it comes the substitutes and it was even more disastrous. This show was written in the time period of the strike, so maybe that's the reason is so bad
Sadly, this is not going to be a current year kind of trend. This is how it’s going to be and you’ll have to accept the inevitable. The previous generations only reads, listens, leaded by someone with credibility. Leaders, writers, teachers, creators in general are usually the smartest people in their group. Now every retard is protected and given equal opportunity, but probably a lot more opportunities simply because they’re the one who needs more help.
If you pay attention to Morfyds face (as difficult as that may be), she moves her face and lips so little, it looks like she's practicing ventriloquism.
In the world of rings of power Elrond is absolutly right to distrust the rings. Because in this world the elven rings are not pure, they were created with direct involvement of Sauron. It's kind of amazing how the writers of rings of power try to link every major world event in some way to galadrrrriel but in doing so erase Tolkien's galadriel greatest achievement and give it to elrond. In actual canon galadriel was the only elve that Sauron was never able to deceive, the only elve that could always see through sauron. But in rings of power galadrrrrrriel is not only the first elve to be deceived by Sauron, they are actually daring to have their galadrrrrriel be in fucking love with Sauron. It's truly disgusting.
That's not completely true. Elrond and Gilgalad also didn't trust Sauron either, but it was mostly Gilgalad and Galadriel. Depending on the version, I have seen suggestions that Celebrimbor at least distrusted Annatar at first, it was primarily his smiths who were deceived. At the very least, though, he still enabled Annatar by allowing him in Eregion. However, this show also ruined Celebrimbor's redemption arc. He made/allowed the initial rings corrupted by Sauron. The "redemption" of this failure was him forging the three elven rings later. Celebrimbor either sent the three elven rings all to Gilgalad, or he sent two to Gilgalad and one to Galadriel. Either way, though, Celebrimbor's redemption was creating the three elven rings, and ensuring they were kept safe from Sauron's grasp.
@@JaidynReiman Yes, elrond and Gil Galad also didn't trust Annatar, but that was only because Galadriel warned both of them. As for Celebrimbor, he initially was a little sceptic of Annatar. Annatar gained his trust by teaching him and many others many skills over the course of centuries and in the end it was Celebrimbor that learned the most from him and also trusted him the most. Also, celebrimbors redemption was actually more of an accident. Annatar was stoking the flames of Celebrimbors ego to drive him to ever greater heights and of course to make him more pliable to Annatar. But he miscalculated a little. He stoked celebrimbors ego to such heights that when it was time to forge the three elven rings Celebrimbor wanted to make them alone so that he wouldn't have to share credit with annatar as he did for the other rings. And that ironically was what kept the elven rings out of Saurons grasp and arguably was the only reason for why the one ring was created at all. If Sauron had managed to get his influence in the elven rings too there wouldn't have been any need for the one ring.
It’s, eh, pretty? If you already have prime video and want to just have something to “watch” on the second screen/in the background while doing something else, there are worse things to “watch” Relatively certain that if it was an original/standalone production, not tied to the lord of the rings, the show would get, eh, a solid 5 or even a 6 out of 10. On a technical level it’s decent, the acting is solid (some exceptions aside), the only thing it’s being absolutely slaughtered by is the writing&dialogue, which are awful
@@shaedeymamlas5496 I understand where you are coming from but also.. just don't. When you watch you are casting a vote for more crap. You gotta have some restraint if you want things to change.
This tv show is boring and awful. Awful on all levels. And thee greatest insult to all is that they trusted 1 billion dollars project to those amateur producers who are so out of touch with reality.
It's true. This horrible series only serves to make the original trilogy even better. The passion behind those movies just shines through even more. I'm so glad this arrogant garbage has failed for Amazon.
Walsh and Boyens: ''Tolkien is an amateur writer.'' Boyens: ''He needed an editor.'' Jackson: ''We definitely enhanced the dialogue.'' And Boyens described Boromir's death as a ''failing of Tolkien.''
How can you have Barrow-wights, when the ancestors of the bones in the barrows haven't even left Numenor, let alone established Arnor, let alone fallen into ruin after 700 years of war with Angmar, which also doesn't exist yet, let alone been imbued by spirits of said nonexistent realm?
Everyone who says shows like this "need to reflect the world we live in today" really needs to look up the definitions of "fantasy", and also "fiction" while they're at it. When Season 1 was coming out, it almost felt like it was having a week-on-week competition with She-Hulk to see which could be the worse show, waste the most money, and have the least likeable protagonist. Then Witcher: Blood Origins came out later that same year to show them both how awful is truly done. I didn't think I'd see a worse show, but then the Acolyte happened. Now Rings of Power for some reason wants to compete with even that. So far, RoP S2 doesn't seem to be actively pro-murder, so it's not down to the depths of the Acolyte yet, but might be wasting even more money... somehow. More insufferable than Galadriel? My nominations would be Mae - flipping her motivations an average of 2.5 times per episode, and remember she doesn't even appear in 2 of them, nor does the show exclusively follow her, so that's, I think, once every 4-5 minutes of her adult screen time - and Vernestra - who contradicts herself multiple times, as well, once in literally the same conversation, and ultimately blames all the crimes of multiple murderers, one of whom is her former student, whom it looks like she may have abused back in the day? ... and blames all the murders on her alleged "old, dear friend", trying to get the Senate off her ass. So she covers for her mass-murdering former apprentice that she may or may not have abused, trying to get the Senate to not investigate the Jedi, and her lie basically ended up being the EXACT thing Senator Reyencourt said he feared... And thus she buries the hero of the show, and gets the Jedi in all the trouble she thought she was avoiding by telling a massive lie that destroys her "friend"'s rep forever. Maybe she's even worse than Mae, now that I lay it all out... at least she's not a murderer... unlike Mae... Sorry, that went super long. But those are my nominations. The fact that this is even a competition amongst shows with these kinds of budgets is ... yeah, we're living in a truly dark time for 'entertainment'.
These reviews really ARE better than the actual shows. I had to watch one to actually see if the hate is deserved... I feel like my eyes, mind, and soul hurt from the awfulness of EVERYTHING about this series. The writing. The acting. Sorry, I stand corrected, some of the visuals are really good, the Ent (Entwives) are awesome, but literally everything else blows chunks. Nothing these characters do make sense, their decisions are either 'How'd they know that??' or blatantly given to drive the next scene. So, so bad for so much money!
That the writers would subjugate a Valinorian elven princess to a half-elf is beyond perverse. It's downright criminal. Little wonder Tolkien fans across the globe have allocated this cinematographic monstrosity to the dustbin where it rightly belongs. Bezos should have used the money for this project to help the disadvantaged.
Well, the orcs WERE victims of Morgoth but they themselves would not express that sentiment. They were literally bred to obey a strong will. One can only imagine that would not include having a loving family.
You said in the into that Amazon didn't have the rights for The Hobbit. This is incorrect, they *do* have the rights. I don't fault you for thinking they didn't, surely if they did the writing of the show would have been better. But they indeed do have the rights, which makes the whole thing all the more puzzling
Two things momentarily disturbed my attention in the dark, and drift, of this appalling show: - Morfydd Clark's acting got worse - that interaction with Elrond was stilted, banal and with barely a memory of emotion - The Harry Potter tools flying about scene is utterly absurd - there's a metric ton of anvil that falls from the rafters. WTF. Why is there a fucking anvil hoisted to the rafters? It's cartoonish. Celebrimbor has a wee anvil paperweight too. WTF. Maybe it was the big anvil but ordered from Temu...
Kevin Eldon is one of the dons of British comedy. He’s got a lot of writing credits and is along time collaborator of Simon Pegg in stuff like Big Train, Spaced, Hot Fuzz etc and even had his own show. He now tends to confine himself to guest appearances like this and a recent episode of red dwarf.
Thank God, I have a mind of my own and don't give damm about what others think! And I have read all and every book on the Lord of the Rings. I can tell the difference from the books and the "adaptation" of the books, it will never be as good. Buy I love every movie and series about The Lord of the Rings, despite what anyone says! Its just entertainment!! After all, the books are not history they are fiction too!!
As one of that ilk, I'll agree. Grew up watching TNG, watched all the films multiple times, loved all the shows (even Enterprise had its moments), then was angry JJ turned the movie into Straw Wars Trek. Didn't realize how bad it was gonna get until season 2 of Discovery.... then Picard happened! Fml I'm done with new Trek, unsubbed from Paramount+, and love watching real Trek on RUclips (cuz there's a ton of good fan-fiction that is miles better than the garbage officially made).
@@S_raB Go and watch Picard season 3 and pretend the two seasons before dont exist.... it`ll redeem Picard and the entire TNG cast from the days of old....
The show is written like the audience is stupid. Then when criticized, the audience is now racist, misogynistic and stupid. I like sauron and celebrimbor but they make celebrimbor a total idiot…and that’s the only good part. That’s how bad the show is I’m holding on to that part
You don't give a fuck about review on youtube if the product is good. If the product is mediocre then the review on youtube becomes the best thing ever.
Wtf has happened to Guyladriel’s voice? She sounds like she’s doing a pisstake of Sandra Dickinson. Was it that bad during series 1? I can’t recall and can’t be arsed to watch any of that cack again.
Good faith argument of why the writing on this show is good: It will be used in schools to teach students the difference between literature/film (LoTR books & trilogy of films) versus fanfiction/shitcom.
I have never watched a complete episode. CLOSEST I came to a full episodes was episode 1 and 2 of season 1. AFTER THAT I REALIZED THIS SERIES HAVE NO HOPE. I rather watch the critique videos. They are way more entertaining.
Ya gotta give the producers some credit. To be given a billion dollars to make a show out of a story thats already written for you and already loved by millions and still not be able to create something watchable takes some freakin determination and effort. Its not easy to fail that hard but they were able to do it. Just think of how many people this show has caused to shake their heads in dumbfounded wonder. So is it fair to call it a disaster when this free falling elevator has already passed ground level & somehow hasn't stopped yet?
"I love hating this show 😈" Same, same. And i am one of the people that only experience these d+ shows via reviews like yours, the critical drinker or nerdrotic. Thank you for your sacrifice.
Once you have distanced yourself from the thought, that everything must be exactly as Tolkien described without even the smallest changes, it can actually be pretty enjoyable to watch the show. It is what it is: an adaption. You can probably overanalyze every series (especially adaptions) to the point where they just seem terrible (and some of the surely are). But in case of TROP you might miss out on what the series actually has to offer...which is a pretty immersive world with some really likeable characters and a catching story. So it might be worth to give it a try. It's okay to not like it and if hating the show brings you joy that's fine. We all just want to be entertained. But these videos often are a bit one sided and the comment sections feel like echo chambers. And who knows, you might actually actually enjoy the show if you give it a try. (maybe not directly after watch an anit-TROP video though^^)
@@Rebecca-vo6wk okay, this is really a too complicated and broad topic as to discuss this in comment posts but here we go. First of all, yes, until a few years ago I too was also still able to just "turn my brain off" and enjoy media without critically thinking about logical inconsistencies or fallacies but that stopped when I watched for example cinema sins. Nowadays I simply see "stupid" stuff like coal powered space ships in rebel Moon or stupid decisions for the "plot" by characters like not using the obvious option to cut off Thanos hand with a sling ring portal in avengers infinity war or fight scenes where it's obvious that only plot armor protects the named character like the lightsaber battles in Ahsoka or acolyte. Secondly, there is adaptation like for example the Harry Potter or lord of the rings movies where the source material is honored and stuff cut out only due to the constraints of budget and length of a movie like for example in Harry Potter and the goblet of fire where trial 1 and 3 where changed substantially to make the dragon fight more exciting and cut budget on the monsterless and challenge less maze. And then there is bastardization to fit in a narrative or message like in this show where for example galadriel origanally never was a warrior but we need a boss babe or the color changed war fearing orks with family to send some message. My "hate" is not based on missing lore accuracy but the need for nearly every recently released movie or tv show to BLATANTLY incorporate aggressive feminism, a woke message, in your face dei or obvious self inserts at the cost of any form of logically consistent story or characters. I don't hate those things per se but the way they are used and portrait. The writers don't want representation or empowerment, they want blatant revenge because it never comes naturally or organically in those stories but always by putting down the bad (white) man. One of the best examples for that is the depiction of Nick fury in Disneys invasion or indiana Jones in the fifth movie (I didn't even know existed until I heard it from YT critics 😂) or Bruce Banner in she-hulk. It's not that a female protagonist is bad ass by themselves but everybody around them has to be inept and an idiot and they have to be praised to high heaven no matter how wrong or stupid their behaviour or decisions are. The writers treat everybody outside their target audience echo chamber as idiots that won't see how crude those aspects are incorporated. Or the bait and switch in doctor Stange 2, Hawk eye or moon night where the title character needs to be inevitably saved and surpassed by a female side character in the end. I don't know if I get my point across, like I said, this is a thing for a eye to eye discussion not comment posts. Edit: I forgot my favorite example for my hate of the bad writing in the last years and one of the earliest. The star wars prequels. I won't go into all the details but my favorite hilariously bad points are in the rise of Skywalker with the rebels attacking a star destroyer on horseback and no one coming up with the idea to tilt the ship and throw them off or the whole point of the sith ships being unable to move straight up at the same pace. I have to actively ignore stuff like this to enjoy movies nowadays because they are so contrived and stupid.
This video has every meme that is fit for print. Even if you don't like the content, preserve this video for future generations so that their field of fucks may remain barren yet fully defended. 10/10
I remember Payne and McKay saying "we wanted to write the novel Tolkien never wrote." All I could think was "Yeah, there's a reason for that. Namely Tolkien could actually write a good novel."
I think it’s a well written show. It could be some of the best writing of the genre we have seen in a very long time. I can’t remember parody this good since Scary Movie 5.
The only thing I push back in videos that are covering this show is the scene where Galadriel takes on the horde of Orcs alone. A lot of people are calling it nonsense and stupid etc. Meanwhile in the Fellowship we get two similar scenes. One where Aragorn tells Frodo to run before turning back to face an Orc horde in a quick slow motion shot which was fucking awesome. And the other being Boromir taking on his own horde where even being mortally wounded, he fights on. I’m just as annoyed with this show and her character as the next person. But for nit picks like this, it seems a little too blinded compared to similar situations from the movies that people love. This is the only part I’m arguing for.
They intentionally picked the ugliest people to portray these characters. Emphasize the beauty of his world and the beauty of the people of earth and they just had to desecrate it.
There's trainwrecks, there's abortions, and then there's Rings of Power. A billion dollars. A billion dollars and this...this is the best they could come up with. Oh yay, yet another movie/show all about feminist ideology and identity politics shoehorned into a far more talented person's IP.
Isildur's love-interest gets smashed into a rock by an Ent, shatters her spine, but gets up 2 minutes later as if she is Wolverine. Amazon, now you got the chance to do an extra check-box (doing a WOC-version of Barbara Gordon), and you manage to fudge that up as well. A total poop-show, but an awesome video as ever, Cynic!❤
I’m not a huge fan of the show but I’d like to breakdown your review if I may. After all, journey, and trolls, and all that right? 1. Every show I watch begins with a recap. Last Kingdom, Game of Thrones, the Acolyte, Mandalorian, Dragon Ball Z. I don’t see your point here. 2. Orcs aren’t victims? I understand where you’re coming from but did you forget about their capture, torment, corruption, and enslavement to the will of a dark master? They don’t fear war. They hate it, just like they hate everything else, including themselves and their master. 3. You have a problem with Galadriel being strong? Did she not bring down Dol Guldur with a song? “…and Galadriel thew down its walls, and laid bare its pits, and the forest was cleansed.” Also Tolkien wrote, “…she was strong of body, mind and will. A match for both the loremasters and the athletes of the Eldar in the days of their youth.” Sounds like Galadriel was strong to me. 4. You complain about wearing the ring and that they should have left it in “Rivendell” where it would be safe, but Gil-Galad and these elves reside in Lindon…so. 5. You go on about them not “having the rights” to say Hobbit. But Amazon literally has the TV rights to both the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings and may use the words contained within. A simple google search could reveal that. Hobbits, and the word for them did not appear until the beginning of the third age. As this show takes place in the second age of middle-earth they would not use that word. They would however use the words Harfoot and Stoor as those are what they were known as at the time. 6. As for the Tom Bombadil answer for what he is, the book quotes Goldberry as answering simply, “He is.” And for Tom’s quote he answers, (LotR p. 132 Illustrated Edition 2021 Eh, what? Don’t you know my name yet? That’s the only answer.” Seems like you have a problem with Tolkien’s work here friend. 7. Harlot? She’s a liar yes, but calling her a Harlot because you don’t like a woman character is telling. You’re revealing your true colors. 8. They can call it the Shire. Again, they have the TV rights to both the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings -the Shire exists in both. Sûzat is an Adûnaic word; the language that these Harfoots and Stoors would be speaking. And yes if you translate it to English it would mean the Shire. Again, they don’t call it the Shire because the Shire doesn’t exist yet. That would be like a movie set in Ancient Rome referring to Paris as Paris instead of Lutetia. And yes it’s well known (see #5) that the Harfoots and Stoors were nomadic. Didn’t Tolkien hate this? No, he wrote it. 9. Your editor caught of Entwife inaccuracy. 10. “Strong waman” as Galadriel heals the elf and goes to confront the orcs. I’d refer you again to #1. 11. Celebrimbor and Sauron start the Lord of the Rings narrative? You do know the second age and the forging of the rings occurred in the Legendarium correct? 12. As I admit the Doors of Durin were a nod to the trilogy we’re familiar with, I’ll refer you to #11, the events of the second age were written by Tolkien. 13. For thirteen you complain about how all of this is so horrible it would make Tolkien “cry” or that he “hated” things as if you want to sustain and honor his legacy, yet the hate and vitriol, and language in your video are contrary to what Tolkien would have wanted. 14. Ar-Pharazon isn’t a “Temu version Denethor”. Why do you think this? Because he’s a bad governor? Again, Pharazon is an actual character and crucial to the fall of Númenor. 15. “That girl” is Elendil’s daughter, and the “dead brother” is Isildur. You might remember that from season 1 if you had watched the recap. 16. Again you say “Oregeno” instead of Eregion? Again the kingdom was named such by Professor Tolkien. Are you making fun of the show or the Professor’s life work? Also in the second age, Eregion was besieged by Orcs. Just because there’s a battle portrayed doesn’t mean they’re copying a movie that also has a battle? Are you a fan of Lord of the Rings or do you consist purely out of malice? You had nothing redeeming to say. I understand you have “content” to create that you subsist from, but is this it? You portray yourself as “a fan” wanting to honor Tolkien, but you seem ignorant on the information. I agree the show isn’t the best written, the dialog is atrocious at times, and amazon has probably bitten off more than they can chew with all the characters they’re trying to cram in. But you could say that in much better ways than this.
Thank you for taking the time to compile such a detailled comment! I have the impression that many people here just like to jump on the hate train fueld by quite a bit of nonsense. It is okay to not like the show. But I also think that some people are actively (but not always successfully) searching for things to complain about (in the name of Tolkien). Also, some seem to forget what this show is supposed to be: an adaption. And I found it easier to watch (and actually enjoy) the show after I distanced myself from the thought that everything needs to be exactly as tolkien described. You mentioned, that you are not a huge fan of the show yourself. Can I ask what your reasons were? (Genuinely curious, since you seem to have a lot knowledge regarding everything LOTR related)
@@Rebecca-vo6wk thanks for responding! I feel the general plotting and pacing is bad. I feel like Amazon has bitten off too much with the amount of characters they are attempting to switch back and forth on (skipping entire plot lines between episodes sometimes). I don’t like that most of the time elves are depicted as simply human yet with pointy ears. I don’t like that often characters make stupid choices to serve the plot, and the overall story isn’t well grounded. The dialog is atrocious at times. But most of all I don’t like that it doesn’t “feel” like Tolkien. It lacks grace and poetry. It feels hollow. That’s just off the top of my head.
@Rebecca-vo6wk This is the perfect example of the people the defend this embarrassment of a show, an adaptation? Do you know what that even means? It's the same crap I saw a zoomer saying that if you want to blame the plot points, blame the books they come from. What? *This show is NOT from ANYTHING written by Tolkien, unlike the movies or the Hobbit* It's glorified fan-fiction set in the first and second age, its no different than a big-budget fan movie, except the writers seem to have contempt for the original lore and fans, it's not adapting anything.
Thank you for writing all this down. I got this recommened for some reason while eating and couldn’t bother but going through the comments and watching this was something else. I genuinely don’t understand the hate people are filled with when this show comes up. It feels like some are bothered by inconsistencies more than it seems reasonable to me, while others barely know what they’re talking about. They caught wind of presumed inconsistencies, and use that to attack the show cause there’s a “strong woman”, the DEI boogieman they so loathe and fear. Then go on to just apply standard DEI enshitification rethoric they heard for other content and start making up stuff. It’s really sad to see.
7:20 Got your point, but theoretically, Rivendell isn't founded by Elrond until the fall of Eregion, so at that point in the show they should rather leave the rings in Lindon.
"It's my personal goal to make a far more entertaining video about the show then you'll ever get from watching the real thing" Not a terribly high bar you set for yourself there.😂 Love your reviews man, I truly appreciate you sacrificing your sanity for our amusement!
The shows sucks, but a few corrections. It doesn't cost more than the movies. Everyone is reporting the cost including the rights, but that's not how it works. The movies budget didn't include the rights they bought either, because they didnt actually have them, they had to retroactively pay $168M for them after being sued. Rights are perpetual, so Amazon can make 10 more shitty shows if they want. The actual episode cost is about $30-35M, still the most expensive TV show ever, but not by a huge amount. The movies cost about $30M an hour in 2000 money, in todays money thats $55M. They dont need the Hobbit rights to mention them, theres far more hobbit detail in the LOTR and appendices than the Hobbit book. However that doesnt matter because they DO have the rights to the Hobbit.
Until I started then stopped watching it. I assumed people hated it cus it got diverse and some snowflakes melted. I was wrong. This show is a stinker.
Their defense of criticism is always “they hate the diversity” when really it’s a complete mess cheesy and corny winsome looks , cramming hobbits and istari into second age and others etc
According to Tolkien the origins of the Hobbits go back to the First Age. And he did write somewhere that the Blue Wizards arrived in Middle-Earth in the Second Age.
@@reek4062 sorry but Tolkien also wrote the blue wizards names were as important to the story as the names of queen bethiels cats Also in others Sauron is a cat etc. the 12 volume history of middle earth everyone loves memberberrying about is all stuff he discarded or were rough drafts To reference these is unserious.
Also the hobbits in ROP made me turn it because it was cheesy and corny not because of Hobbitts in second age or any other adaptation. It’s just bad. No more excuses for it. I wanted it to be good. I would be ecstatic if it was good but it isn’t. It’s a complete disappointment

Lol. That's an immediate classic.

Some funny comments I have found on other videos -
My favourite one is "The actress who plays Galadriel is so dull, that seems like she's practicing ventriloquism"
That first one is spot on. Lmao

Good on Henry Cavill for leaving. Season 3 was shit. It's a story about the witcher ffs, he us the main character.
I don't know about Wheel of Time, but the Witcher had the budget of a orange juice + cream crackers, that would be a tough adaptation even if they hired real writers

Like Celebrimbor realizing that metal can melt to be combined other metal, the craftsmanship of this show is on point. 🍑 💨 💦

There are black elves. Or you mean black _and_ plus sized?
Don’t give them any ideas
Wtf has happened to Guyladriel’s voice? She sounds like she’s doing a pisstake of Sandra Dickinson. Was it that bad during series 1? I can’t recall and can’t be arsed to watch any of that cack again.
Good faith argument of why the writing on this show is good:
It will be used in schools to teach students the difference between literature/film (LoTR books & trilogy of films) versus fanfiction/shitcom.
Tell me you haven't read LotR without telling me you haven't read LotR.
Dude - your…review cracked me up and I mean out loud laughing. Fans of Tolkein need this. The world needs this. Good job.
3:17 Any seconds I have "watched" of Amazon Presents: A Amazon Prime Series: Rings of Prime have 100% been youtubers shitting on it.
Thank you Paul

"I love hating this show 😈"
Same, same.
Id rather watch this review than the show.👍👍👍👍
I remember Payne and McKay saying "we wanted to write the novel Tolkien never wrote." All I could think was "Yeah, there's a reason for that. Namely Tolkien could actually write a good novel."
I’ve never seen a single episode of Rings of Power but I’ve watched three to four different reviews of each episode since the beginning.
GRAND ELF 😭😭😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀
In my opinion, this show would've done much better if they just made it a series based on the shadow of Mordor and shadow of war games.
They intentionally picked the ugliest people to portray these characters. Emphasize the beauty of his world and the beauty of the people of earth and they just had to desecrate it.
Great vid brah..your my new favorite recap guy😅😅😅cheers
There's trainwrecks, there's abortions, and then there's Rings of Power. A billion dollars. A billion dollars and this...this is the best they could come up with. Oh yay, yet another movie/show all about feminist ideology and identity politics shoehorned into a far more talented person's IP.
Who knows, maybe it's just one big money laundering operation by dark lord Bezos. Because this sh---i-t doesn't even looks nowhere near 1bil budget.
The only good thing, that came out of this mess, are the RUclips videos mocking it 😂
Rings of Power look like a generic fantasy show. Xena and Hercules were better.
Sir! 👉 I like the cut of your jib!
Your editor looks like a badass. Does he have his own channel?
I do! but im too busy with cynic edits to make videos consistently lol

Here's the rating formula: RUclips reviewers + cast members' mothers x Amazon's autoplay "feature".

Just Brilliant
8:17 the Mindy Khaling Velma?
Agreed!
While Galadriel is terrible written, I'd argue that Velma from the said show is even worse written.
What? *This show is NOT from ANYTHING written by Tolkien, unlike the movies or the Hobbit*
It's glorified fan-fiction set in the first and second age, its no different than a big-budget fan movie, except the writers seem to have contempt for the original lore and fans, it's not adapting anything.
Sad to see Cirian hinds and Rory Kinnear slumming it for a paycheck in this as Both are good actors
7:20 Got your point, but theoretically, Rivendell isn't founded by Elrond until the fall of Eregion, so at that point in the show they should rather leave the rings in Lindon.
Before this show R was my favourite word now I hate it
The editor's comment caught me off guard, haha! We're cranky too, we forgive you 😂
Please, no. Someone said 'Grand-Elf'?? I can't even watch the reviews anymore. This does not exist. I don't even want to know.
"It's my personal goal to make a far more entertaining video about the show then you'll ever get from watching the real thing"
Not a terribly high bar you set for yourself there.😂
Love your reviews man, I truly appreciate you sacrificing your sanity for our amusement!
Glad you enjoy it man, thank you!
That "the staff chooses you" crap was satirized in Mystery Men over 30 years ago.
Thank you sir for your sacrifice 🫡
Until I started then stopped watching it. I assumed people hated it cus it got diverse and some snowflakes melted. I was wrong. This show is a stinker.
"Not every battle must be fought to be won"
Wow. That's like the catch phrase America has had for a few years now
To quote Leonidas: RoP, may you run forever……So we can watch and enjoy hilarious reviews like this one! Love it, love it!
