      thinking about one piece as a conservative work is as bad as thinking it like a progressive/woke work just because there's some trans there and there.
      one piece is just a good adventure manga/anime about adventures with almost nonexistent political messages and that's it.
      we may start to recognize this, so we may avoid another progressive fans meltdown against oda calling him transph*obic just because he ended up not recognizing Yamato as a man just because she refers herself as such, ignoring the reason as to why she considers herself as such (yeah, that actually happened).

    It’s funny because Oda directly stated that one Piece is in one part about masculinity and manhood. It’s about exploring what it means to be a man through rejecting traditional notions of masculinity defined by others.
    And yet whenever the drinker brings up masculinity in their review; it’s almost never about the values and actions of said masculine characters in their own right, but whether or not they are superficially upstaged by a woman. The absolute antithesis to what Oda intended.
    Basically, if the drinker existed in one pieces universe; he’d basically be one of the townspeople disregarding and laughing at Señor. Pink because he is “effeminate”
    It’s funny to see how drinker gets the story so monumentally wrong; even when it’s ostensibly positive about values he pretends to care about.

    • @ApexGale
      @ApexGale 4 месяца назад +40

      Do you think drinker would get mad over how often the men cry in One Piece? In the anime Zoro cries when he loses to Mihawk, Luffy cried numerous times (when Shanks sacrifices his arm, when the Kuma incident happens on Sabaody, when Ace dies, when he reunites with Sabo, and so much more). Luffy isn't the traditional Western hero - he isn't stoic, or "cool." If Oda had wanted to write the captain to be that way, Zoro would be the main character, but he isn't.
      He also doesn't know that the women are the major brains of the crew. Without Nami as their navigator they would literally have never reached the grand line. And without Robin to translate the poneglyphs they'd never find Laugh Tale. It's just so stupid how he feels like he has to put women down, when the Straw Hat Pirates are a *team.* They each have their own weaknesses and strengths, but the one thing they don't do anymore is try to hide their emotions from one another.

    • @noriyakigumble3011
      @noriyakigumble3011 4 месяца назад +19

      @@ApexGale it’s very true; I’m reading a great book by Leo Braudy that talks about how we construct masculinity through images and behaviors relating to war in both peace and wartime; and a detail that really stuck out to me was comparing the medieval song of Rolo, which depicts a Burgundian knight that is strong enough to slash men in half with a single sword swipe but is also tender and vulnerable enough to cry rivers upon rivers of tears at the death of his companions; which is UNTHINKABLE to the 21st century definition of hyper masculinity in the west.
      I definitely think the drinker would fall into that trap of “euugh they got men showing FEELINGS, ermmm how Woke!!!” But I also think there’s another grosser angle to this. The Drinker has a very narrow and, dare I say, derogatory sense of masculinity that speaks to insecurity. Any scene where a man is vulnerable or upstaged, in his mind, has to be balanced by a woman being comparatively denigrated to keep his ego fed, “I may suck, but at least I’m
      Better than a woman”; like with the Kuina scene, you can see him doing mental gymnastics where he takes Kuinas issue of identity and internalized sexism as an admittance that women CANNOT be better than men.
      I don’t think the Drinker has a programmatic view of what masculinity is. I think he just hates women

    • @ApexGale
      @ApexGale 4 месяца назад +15

      @@noriyakigumble3011 Yeah, it's frankly kind of alarming how he seems to have extremely one dimensional views of how women "should be" in stories. If he'd ever actually watched the One Piece anime, he'd probably get mad over how Nami is always the member of the crew who is there to knock sense into the rowdy boys when they start getting carried away.
      This idea of "men will always be inherently stronger than women if they both train the same amount" just goes to show that mindset - this idea that no matter how much a woman tries, if the man she's competing with puts in the same effort, she would just naturally fall behind. Like, he completely tosses aside the fact that they're in a fantasy story where characters can get godlike powers. Koby as a character literally exists to show the exact opposite of what Drinker implies: yeah, he's a man, but as a character overall he is meant to represent the idea that hard work can easily beat out even the Devil Fruits. So this idea that in a fantasy world where someone can punch a hole through an island, only men can achieve that sort of feat...is frankly ridiculous and such a surface level reading of a story that it further proves CD has no interest in media analysis at all.

      The Critically Alcoholic defines masculinity entirely in relation to women. It's not about who you are, what you do, what you think or what you believe, it's about what the women around you are doing. It honestly feels like he can't understand the idea of forming opinions on a character in and of themselves. Women are the metric by which all men are measured. I have no idea how he arrived at this conclusion and I'm confused why he's this obsessed with it.

    I will say the live action Mulan accidentally changes the message to "women can are just as good as men and can be heroes if they get the chance" to "special women with superior genes and abnormal psychical ability can compete with and outdo men"
    I don't understand why they had to put the chi thing in because it feels more like a way of justifying her talent when the entire point is that women don't need to be special to be as good as men. That's why in the original she's just a regular girl with no special gifts. You might say she's smarter than the men but I read that as her simply rejecting toxic masculinity and it's obsession with strength over wit. The men can be just as clever as her if they reject their gender roles and stereotypes, which is how they buy Mulan enough time to save the day when they decide to put on drag(a very literally breaking of gender expectations).

    That comment from the Drinker about feminists getting offended by Zoro and Kuina tells me he completely missed the point of Zoro’s entire character.
    Zoro lost *over two thousand* duels to Kuina. He doesn’t agree with Kuina’s assessment that her gender would make her a weaker swordswoman. His first sword, Wado Ichimonji, is Kuina’s sword. He intends to carry that sword to the ends of the earth and become the greatest swordsman in history, in *her* honor.
    This gender neutrality of his gets him into conflict with the unbreakable chivalry of Sanji, and fuels their rivalry. Sanji would rather die than hit a woman because it’s his code as a man to never direct his strength towards the fairer sex. @kleindropper @kleindropper no. The creators utilized the plot of the movie to push Trump's project of continuing to build the wall between Mexico and the US to shut out illegal immigration and by extension human trafficing as well. There are multiple interviews, one of them with Trump where they advocated for this. My issue is that, by doing so, the creators only addressed one part of the human traffiking issue, one that matches the conservative rhetoric. You have to understand that a significant rate of child trafficking takes place through LEGAL CHANNELS, literally in airports and not by running under a broken piece of fencing. This is why you always see PSAs urging the public to watch out for individuals who look like they are in danger. Therefore, when you make a movie about trafficking portraying it as an issue that can be solved with a physical barrier, it shows that they have little understanding of the subject and are only using this issue to push an agenda.

    In regards to him boycotting The Boys s4 due to it being overly political. You can't call yourself a decent movie critique if you decide to boycott the movie based on Twitter reviews.. it's ironic that he says that he hates politics or overly political messages only on shows that don't agree with his politics. But he was quick to recommend "The sound of freedom" and "Lady ballers," movies that glorified right-wing politics. I don't know if this is something Jose touches upon, but YMS points out a relevant issue with CD. CD claims to be a critic who loves movies and uses broad strokes to paint years as good or bad for movies, but he doesn't actually watch that many movies. His media diet consists of blockbusters and whatever Disney puts out, he doesn't go to festivals, he doesn't cover any foreign films, it's just whatever's trending at the moment.

Those are the main things in gaming cultural. If youre reviewing things in a broader cultural context, ofc indie and festival films arent gonna enter the conversation. The rejection of women beating up men due to realism is so funny to me because watching almost any action movie involving hand to hand combat between 2 men is so clearly beyond realism. Movies like The Bourne Series, James bond, Mission impossible, John wick, etc, feature lengthy hand to hand combat scenes where even the 1v1 man on man combat scenes have both characters persevering through fight ending, crippling injuries, with inhuman endurance; as well as remarkably quick recovery time after the fight scene is concluded.

      Again, this is a straw man - the heroes you mention are depicted as being unusually skilled. If you've set up that your female character has unusual skills, fine, but these films don't do that. It's just Rey who's never seen a light saber in her life instantly knows how to use it better than a Jedi master to which he objects. Edit: I was wrong. He said Oldboy, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Battle Royale (which the host came up with and he agreed with). None of which are new, only one of which is Japanese so the point still stands that he was talking out of his ass. Just like I was, I guess.

      @@ratbaby3107 Him complaining that the Netflix show made Cowboy Bebop's characters "more grounded and realistic" just proves that to me. Most of the characters felt so much more cartoon-y in live-action. The live-action show's tone leaned very heavily on comedy, and most of the plot points and character beats that they directly lifted from the anime came off as more absurd and exaggerated. Not saying that the anime didn't also have comedy, but the anime felt like it gave itself more permission to realistically breathe and contemplate while the live-action version felt like it had more pressure to keep throwing zany jokes and action scenes at its audience.
      To me, live-action Cowboy Bebop felt like a bunch of distilled stereotypes about what Westerners assume anime is "supposed" to be like, i.e. quirky and action-heavy, with minimal interrogation about what makes an individual anime like Cowboy Bebop distinct and special. Critical Drinker seems to be a victim of assuming those stereotypes himself.

    One thing that always bothers me about conservative criticism of fantasy and fictional movies is whenever a woman beats a man or whatever, it's touted as unrealistic because he's bigger and stronger than her. But whenever a male protagonist beats a monster six times his size or a giant or a dragon, its just really cool, despite the same fundamental issues - the monster is 'bigger and faster and stronger'. Drives me utterly crazy.
    There's this concept of an underdog that some reviewers are completely blind to in pursuit of 'realism' disguised as subtle misogyny. reminds me of what he's talking about literally four minutes into this video about the ONE PIECE movie - realistically, there's bigger flaws with its authenticity than a woman being able to beat a man, because its a FICTIONAL MOVIE.

      I'm not an apologist for TCD, but I think his issue is more with the shitty writing. When you write a story, you build a world and set the rules for that world. If it's fantasy where it's been established there are super or magical powers, outrageous skills or strength that are not based on their psychical appearance, and this character has those powers (male or female), then it's totally fine for captain marvel to fly through a space ship or Wonder woman punching people into next week. But if it's a gritty real world action flick based in reality and the character has at no time been revealed as having strength or elite fighting skills, then most of the time strength and size will win. So a small women (even if she's a skilled fighter) punching a big hardened brawler in the face in a street fight and knocking him out breaks the rules for this world and our expectations. It feels wrong and takes you out of the story. He usually calls out that better written female action characters (in worlds grounded in reality) will use speed, skill and weapons to overcome a larger man, not just punching them in the face. It's an attack on bad writing, not strong women.

In addition to Critical Drinker, you also see Doug Walker, CinemaSins, and many others try to have it both ways as well. On the one hand, they'll offer a critique that may make valid points. But when their reviews are inaccurate/misleading/lacking, they then pivot with "Well, we're comedians first, not essayists. The point of our reviews are to be funny videos more than real critiques." I don’t know anyone who actually acts like, let’s say, Spike from Cowboy Bebop. But that’s exactly why he’s an interesting character! He’s a strange self destructive guy, but he’s well written and three dimensional. Obviously characters need to be relatable in some sense yes, but if every character acts like someone you know they’ll never surprise you. What a boring way to see media.

More often than not, the “men” is me.
      Seemed like a based take by drinker to me: if the characters behave in ways that are counter intuitive to the experiences and expectations of the audience, then the audience will be detached. In the end you can have your “surprise” and “subverted expectations,” but no one will care because they couldn’t relate to the character.

    • @Gvjrapiro

      @@braintrust12 That's just not really how audiences have been shown to react, though. Like some people might relate to specific aspects of a character, and some people might not, but the notion that people get "detached" when a character doesn't act like the viewer or something the viewer has directly experienced.. As a recent example, Lucy from the new fallout show has some relatable qualities, but also starts off the series being pretty fundamentally detached from the average viewer. She's sheltered, peppy, and naive. Besides that, she belongs to a vastly different culture. But when we as viewers see that different culture, when we see her talk openly about something as bizarre as casually sleeping with your cousin (jesus) the audience doesn't just check out because they can't relate, they use that difference as a point of humor, as a bit of a look into the setting, and as a point of comparison we can use as she grows and comes into contact with others.
      This isn't some new "subvert expectation" fad, people just generally don't need a laundry list of "x is like me, I need to relate x to my life" to find a character interesting or fun.

    • @braintrust12
      @braintrust12 9 месяцев назад +5

      @@Gvjrapiro i think you’re missing the point. It’s not that the audience “checks out” when they can’t relate to the protagonist. on the contrary, the audience can’t get invested in the protagonist’s struggle to victory when the protagonist is unrelateable - therefore, there is no drama. That’s screenwriting 101.
      There’s a reason the protagonist in literally every critically acclaimed movie is relatable and doesn’t want to screw their cousin. case in point: it’s relatable to the audience when marty mcfly becomes panicked and disgusted when his mom starts flirting with him. everybody in the audience agrees it’s disgusting to flirt with your mom. therefore, marty mcfly - an all time great protagonist. Maybe there’s a reason he’s marty mcfly and there’s a reason Lucy from the new fallout tv show is “lucy from the new fallout tv show.”
      Also you’re vastly overestimating how many characteristics the protagonist needs to share with the audience. It’s not a “laundry list,” it’s like 2 or 3 things: the protagonist is 1. down on their luck 2. pure of heart/intent 3. has an ambition or some kind of goal in the face of adversity. That’s it. Luke Skywalker, indiana jones, harry potter, spiderman, ripley, forrest gump. There’s a reason all those characters are written with those same 3 qualifying characteristics and considered all time great protagonists.

      Anime has regularly portrayed strong kickass female characters since at least the 80's. Cat's Eye is about a group of female thieves who regularly outsmart the male-dominated police force (whose only female member is the one that's able to get on their tail) as well as defeat male opponents in combat. Dirty Pair is a sci-fi series about a pair of agents who kick ass and cause an absurd amount of collateral damage in the process. Black Magic M-66 is a Terminator-inspired anime about a reporter trying to expose a pair of robots that have gone on the loose, as she ends up the only survivor (along with the girl she saves) while all the male soldiers sent to rally in the robots are slaughtered by the dozen. All three of these came out in the 1980's and are all about powerful women, and while shows about powerful women have shrunk and grown in popularity in the decades since then, they've never properly gone away. This Critical Drinker fellow just has no idea what he's talking about.

      Strong women are often depicted in anime, but I don't think it's actually desirable in Japanese culture.
      Japan is a highly patriarchal society that places a lot of gendered expectations on women, to the point that they have to change the pitch of their voice to sound more feminine to men.
      There's always been a tug and pull in Japan with creating strong female characters that retain their femininity. This is seen in the Magical girl genre, which goes as far back as the 1950s with the introduction of Princess Knight.
      There's a pretty good book on the subject called "beautiful fighting girl" if you want to learn more.

      Yeah, I definitely don't think Japan is some bastion of gender equality by any means, just that Critical Drinker is a berk who doesn't know what he's talking about.
      I think it is fair to suggest that the violence of Black Lagoon's women is not wholly unconnected to sexualisation; it definitely has the vibe of "I love a woman who can kick my ass".

    • @DylanYoshi
      @DylanYoshi 10 месяцев назад +18

      @@SleepyMatt-zzz It's true that Japanese society is basically a patriarchy, but anime in particular has historically had a lot of left-leaning people working on it- Many animators were also involved in far left political activism. Two of the biggest animators of all time, Hayao Miyazaki and Mamori Oshii are both products of this.
      For manga, you can also look at Rumiko Takahashi, who made two of the most popular manga ever, Urusei Yatsura and Ranma 1/2 (the former of which Mamoru Oshii also worked on the anime adaptation of), both of which emphasize what gender dynamics were like at the time. Ranma in particular is especially noteworthy, because it focuses on characters who struggle with the assigned roles of gender in their lives, with a toxic masculine protagonist that's forced to confront his feminine side and a female lead who is a tomboy that's struggling to live up to the traditional expectations of a woman.
      Nowadays it's easier to be cynical about anime with how many male power fantasy isekai there are, but ultimately that's just one genre and you still do get a lot that are more progressive, and there's certainly a greater quantity of LGBTQ anime than there once were. The short of it is that while Japan's society sucks, and there certainly are some regressive anime out there, a lot of trends do arise from how many influential animators were anti-authoritarian leftists and that's pretty easy to see.

    Let's just take this moment to acknowledge that critical drinker would absolutely hate the animated Mulan if it came out today.
    He'd likely highlight the scene where Yao misses the rope, and would say, "in this movie, male characters are all bumbling idiots who can't accomplish anything, while Mulan is hyper competent and always saves the day despite her companions incompetence.
    Edit: you guys have done a great job showing you're not offended by other people's opinions. ~Jack Saint.
    Edit 2: I am noticing that a lot of you are leaving comments that make arguments I've already addressed. So I'm gonna periodically update this one with text from other comments I left.
    For those of you trying to counter me on this, almost none of your responses are actually worthwhile to me. All of them miss the point, and none of them actually counter what I've said. The fact is that the criticisms of other female heros he's presented to us are not levied consistently. Many of the things he dislikes about other female heros applies to the female heros he likes. So let's go through some of this.
    The reason why he doesn't dislike Mulan, is because of nostalgia. Bear with me, cause I am terrible with names.
    1) Mulan manages to defeat her teacher during be a man. Sure, she has trained for it, but in another analysis CD essentially claimed that a woman would not be able to out-compete a man like this, even with training. Yet, with Mulan it's OK.
    2) when Mulan disarms the bad guy, sorry, I cannot remember his name, it's seen as being due to her ingenuity. But disarming a seasoned sword fighter with a folding fan would take a ridiculous amount of strength. Something which would be caught and talked about if the movie came out today.
    3) if we are willing to accept Mulan being so competent due to training, have you ever considered the fact that Captain Marvel was trained by both the US and Kree militaries?
    4) why is fighting with ingenuity over raw physical strength bad when Captain Marval does it, but ok when Mulan does it? Captain Marval couldn't beat her main male rival in a competition of strength and hand to hand combat. She only ever beat him by using her powers. She recognized at the end that she could only beat him using her own skills rather than fighting on his terms.
    Not to worry though, I don't expect anyone to actually listen to what I'm saying here. It's just gonna continue with the whataboutisms, and other such deflections.
    I'll admit that ingenuity isn't really the correct term. Sure enough. But the fact of the matter is that she realized she couldn't take him without using her powers. She had spent the whole movie thinking she had to be able to handle him with raw physical strength, in hand to hand combat. It was a major blow to her sense of self worth. And the story was about overcoming that. By ingenuity, I meant that she fought within her means, using the tools she had that he lacked, instead of letting others dictate how she should go about the fight.
    The struggle of earning her power is irrelevant here for two reasons.
    1) CD has already made claims that women cannot compete with men, even with training. This can be seen in the video we are commenting on.
    2) It's still not being applied consistently. Plenty of characters got their power without any struggle or sacrifice. Captain America saw Steve undergoing training, sure. But he saw no advancement from the training. His only shining moments before getting the serum was that bit with the flag and the moment with the grenade. Both of these stem from previously established character traits and did not come about due to training. He had no physical attributes, or combat skill after training. That was all the serum.
    Superman has powers cause he landed on a planet with a yellow sun. Spider man got bit by a spider.
    Now, you could make an argument that sacrifice/struggle came about anyway. After all, each of the characters mentioned above had something to lose, and/or lost something after gaining powers. Think uncle Ben, for example. But different characters have different struggles. Carol Danvers is the most powerful character in her movie, as we can both agree. But is the conflict she was dealing with one that could be dealt with through raw power alone? Not a chance. Most of the film saw her against her own emotions and self worth, or against a foe that could be anyone. Her view on the conflict at hand in her movie was a primary struggle. One that is not easy to deal with. It's not an easy feat to look at your core fundamental beliefs and change your mind, after all.

      He'd seriously miss the entire point that regardless of her being outclassed by him as a warrior, her mind is stronger. Not one person takes him down, an ENTIRE TEAM takes him down because they used their brains to work together and find a solution.

Also, when drinker DID mention the female heroes he liked, he did so after making the Ms. Marvel video in which he once again showed his bull**** hypocrisy by mentioning that female heroes tend to pass around the hero name. This is pathetic, given that he ignores the many Robins, the many Flash mantle holders, Antmans, Spawns, etc. Drinker is an angry incel that just cant admit that he hates current films, but needs to segway his hate into other things that piss him off, ergo anything that pisses off new-wave conservative zealotry. If you take the battle of Stamford bridge, famous for the viking warrior who held a bridge against the pursuing victorious anglo-saxons while his own army retreats in defeat - the guy was huge with matching strength (ended by being stabbed by a spear from beneath the wooden bridge) - this is believable not just because it actually happened, but because the guy had the stature, skill and location to make it possible.
      If you remove both the stature and the capability then it becomes 'fantasy', size matters, skill is important but is not a panacea. Criticals', and others, point is that the women shown usually lacks the stature (sometimes the skills too, why editing it vital, but even good editing cannot disguise a lack of it) - Kill Bill, both films, are realistic in their portrayal, if subject to artistic licence, most so called 'mary sue' types are lacking, in obvious ways, realistic requirements and portrayals. eg Galadriel escaping from prison in amazons Rings of Power.
      There are lots of good examples of 'strong female warrior' types that are not lambasted, because they are 'realistic' rather than 'complete fantasy' types.
      Authenticity and realism matter, they separate actual stories from puff pieces.

      Wokeness is cancer in modern media - God forbid if you'll had to write good stories instead of checking boxes on a list to make a movie

      @kzumf Well, it's a good thing "wokeness" isn't any sort of valid criticism for anything, or I might actually take that stupid shit you typed seriously. Because "God forbid," the straight white people aren't the only people being pandered to as they've been for generations by entertainment of all mediums and genres. You may cowardly hide behind the "checking boxes" buzzword, but all you are actually saying is "pander to the straight white people and only the straight white people"!!!
      Also, could you define "wokeness" for us? Let's see how much more stupid shit you can type

      @kzumf Good thing "wokeness" isn't a valid criticism for anything, then there'd be "cancer" or whatever the f**k you're blabbering about all over cinema. What does "wokeness" mean?

      @kzumf Well it's a good thing "wokeness" isn't anybsort of valid criticism for anything outside of being used by deeply unserious silly people. Then we'd have "cancer" or whatever you're babbling about all over modern media 😁😆😅

      @kzumf Good thing "wokeness" isn't any sort of valid criticism for anything, or I'd have to pretend to worry about "cancer" or whatever you're babbling about being all over media.
      Hey, could you define what "wokeness" is?

    Whenever i think about the CD, that Simpsons's bit with the critic from the Critic is constantly saying "It stinks! It Stinks! It Stinks!" while in a padded cell immediately comes to mind.Just replace "Stinks" with "Woke" and that's basically his entire online persona.

      At least the Critic could be likable sometimes, CD seems like someone you wouldn't want to be in a room for more than a few seconds.

      There was a joke on The Critic that I haven't found again, but it was a brilliant bit with Jay having his movie reviewed by a critic and he creatively mis-hears all the criticism as adoring compliments such as "I thought it was sheer excrement" being received with "GASP! You thought it was sheer excellence?", which is the only bit I still remember.

    I left my anti-SJW phase years ago for many reasons. One of the reasons was ironically Sarah Connor from Terminator 1 and 2, which along with Ripley from Alien is the "strong indipendent woman" that they always, ALWAYS say is the correct way to do it. So I decided to watch the first 2 Terminator movies to see what the fuss was about. And while yes, she is absolutely a great character...i also realized that, if Terminator 2 came out today, people would aboslutely scream WOKE at the sight of the new Sarah Connor. She is a completely different character from her T1 counterpart, she's no longer a damzel in distress that learns to fight the Terminator on her own at the end, she is a baddass warrior since the first second she's introduced, she's got more muscles on her and she wants to hunt the fucking killer robot from the future like it's her daily job. Imagine if the first Terminator was a beloved 80's classic, and the sequel was released in 2016-18, completely unchanged. The trailer alone would generate so much content from the anti-woke crowd, they would photoshop her head on extremely muscular men, have a flaming background and red glowing eyes and some rage bait phrase in a speech bubble that says something like "I'm the Terminator now, BIGOT!"
    Edit: the point is not that Sarah Connor isn't a good character, she is, the point is that people scream woke at the mere sight of a strong woman in a movie nowadays, even before the movie comes out. Yes, there are times where it's absolutely done poorly, but there are other times where it's done perfectly fine and people still call it woke. I'll never forget the controversy when the trailer of Prey, Predator's prequel, came out where the protagonist was an indian girl, and people thought it was woke because of that and because "Schwarzenegger had trouble beating the Predator and now they think a weak girl can handle it" which is like...completely missing the ENTIRE point of the first Predator movie??
    The strong indipentend woman is a modern hollywood trope that is often done poorly because most blockbusters nowaydays are done poorly in many ways. But you can't just watch a few big blockbusters each year and pretend that is the enitre movie industry and this is why it sucks if you don't check out smaller directors and artists, especially if you're a film critic online.

      This is so accurate it's painful. Absolutely nailed it. Same with Ripley from Aliens for that matter.

      Thats because the anti sjw and anti woke content is nothing a grift. A lot of movies and comics in the 90s and 2000s had race swapping and gender inclusion, yet these guys think it is a new trend. If Daredevil 2000 was released today, they would call it woke for making Kingpin black.

      It is not the same, Sarah Conner has awesome qualities as a character there criticism is not about female characters its a bout a girl character who has nothing cool about her and they just insist shes better just because shes a girl thats the difference and its obvious the public hates most of the movies the drinker reviews

      Tbf isn’t the reason she is different because she has gone through some shit to make her more badass, it’s not like she is a different character for no reason

    I like how he ignores that zoro refutes what kuina says in literally the very next scene. Goes to show how selective these peoples memories are.
    The fact that literally all his vids have political elements and messaging in them despite claiming to be non political is also very funny.

      Not even the next scene, he does it in the EXACT SAME scene. Barney Stintson has more media than Critical Drinker.
