    Problem 2. Nothing is done for the homeowner when a package is stolen from their property, but if the homeowner attack the criminal for stealing his packages , the homeowner is arrested. What's up with that? Where is the justice for the homeowner?

      Call the police. Turn over your video footage. Do not come storming out your door with a baseball bat. My God. It could be a completely innocent thing or just a homeless person hoping that something to eat is in there. The likelihood is not good but it is still possible and that is the fine line when you decide to do vigilante detective work. And he goes on to promote stand your ground laws. Don't we have enough shooting in this effing country without people condoning this kind of thing? I remember the day when I used to sell Easter seals and girl scout cookies and the thought of someone being this aggressive in a neighborhood is absolutely unbelievable. It's just a fucking package. My husband retired 35 years from the postal service and people who have packages taken always get them back through the company. So I'm going to be devil's advocate here and say is it really worth it to him? Let the police handle these kinds of things. You end up doing the wrong thing and you're facing involuntary manslaughter if things go south in an altercation. And who's to say that the person taking the package doesn't have a gun and just takes you out on your porch because you put a decoy out there and came out aggressively with a bat. The pendulum swings both ways my friends. But the moral of the story is the true meaning of karma. It simply means your own actions. Your own doing. So careful what you do.

So you would just go to someone’s house randomly to look for a package that’s supposedly yours? How many houses are you going to to look for this package? Would you go into people’s mailboxes? Are you opening their fence/gate to go in and look? And if you are…you’re surprised when the home owner comes out in defense of their property? Extra easy if the phone notification says delivered and there’s a picture of what doorstep they left it on. And did you see him go in anyone’s mailbox? How would you read the name of the package if you didn’t go to the fence/gate? “In defense of their property” are they attacking anyone who comes up to ring the doorbell? Or are you referring to “their property”, as the misplaced package with my name on it?
      “but you think that you can just go into random people’s yards” i would HATE to be someone ringing your doorbell. You must live in Florida where people get shot for turning around in driveways or ringing doorbells or knocking on doors for an emergency.

      So if they came out and said “hey that’s my package”, I’d politely say no, my package got delivered to the wrong house, show them, and then be on my way.

We also know that police make up crimes all the time and arrest people for no reason. So if then prosecuted aren’t prosecuting is that an indicator that the prosecutors are lazy or that police arrested someone who has no case against them? 2) if police refuse to their job because they’re not getting convictions, their refusal to do their job means criminals don’t get that first encounter to be prosecuted, AND their complaints are caused by their own bad arrests.

    The main issue here is, why are delivery people allowed to just leave a package in front of the door where everyone can see it and steal it?
    A friend of mine who lives in Florida has designed a safety box, bolted to the floor with a strong magnetic lock that triggers from a pressure sensor inside the box itself. Box is unlocked as long as it is empty, but as soon as a delivery man places a package inside, a pressure plate detects it and strong electro-magnets lock the box until you come to open the box with the key. Its only weakness is if you get multiple deliveries in the same day.
    I advised him to patent his design and get a company to manufacture it as he could make a lot of money with how many porch pirates are in the US, but he said he does not have time for it :(

    Get a deck box or smaller box that has an eylete for a lock. Request when ordering or leave a note to place delivered items in box and secure lock. Keep a spare key of course or use combination lock. If you leave special instructions when ordering from Amazon and they don't follow them, they are responsible. Definitely make sure you screenshot your special instructions request.

    News company hiring via racist tactics: New York City is 20.2% (and if you count Afro-Latinos (probably increases that number to approx 25%) who are typically put in the Latino category, i.e., my wife), that number is higher.
    So basically, approx 1 in 4 people on News should be black (of varying darker skin tones, hair textures, dreadlocks, braids, etc., but that is not what is reflected in the hiring process nor on-air personality phenotypes.

    solution is simple: make it a first degree felony up to 20 years in prison. There are 2 major crimes associated with this that people don't consider. Not just theft, but defrauding the company or person who sent the package. This makes an innocent company or person seem guilty of not delivering their product when in fact they did. This should be taken into extreme consideration.

    I don't know. I get it when one says, "It's not worth anyone's life for a several to hundred-dollar worth item..." and so on, BUT, I also think of the 'slippery slope' argument where if the thief gets away with a 'small' crime, then does that not EMBOLDEN the criminal to persist and even commit even more and worse crimes in the future? Does it not cause the quality of life to erode overall? One day, it may be a piece of merchandise worth a few dollars but it can potentially lead to a car worth several thousands of dollars or even worse.
    Remember, life in California DID NOT degrade overnight!!

    In the UK, they physically give you the parcel. They have to ring your doorbell or knock on your door to give it you. If you’re not in, a neighbour will sign for it or you can arrange for it to be delivered to a local supermarket or convenience store. They would never leave something in front of my home

  • @user-lw1pm8qi1h
    @user-lw1pm8qi1h 22 дня назад

    Seriously, there are package receptacles for your parcels that only delivery drivers can open. If you order that many packages, don't monitor their progress, or are away when your delivery arrives, invest in the box. They are mounted to your porch and arent going anywhere. Let's get with the program and stop facilitating these thieves.

    It should be illegal for a courier or delivery company to leave a parcel on someones porch in the first place. If it's not actually "DELIVERED" as in it's in your home, then it hasn't been delivered. This is just delivery companies being too lazy.
