I think Frankie got him to warm up to it, that's his style. I like Dave's preferred style best, but I love a good slice of Sicilian. Two totally different experiences. That crunch going into a nice pillowy dough can be heavenly..

Steve is the most consistent restaurant owner in Florida . He’s a treasure and he’s not whacking anyone, he’s a gentle soul.

A great place to eat. Spend $900 and still get kicked out and escorted out by the police and bouncer for overstaying your table time by 5 mins.
The guy had a restaurant in the rio in Vegas and it tanked. Everything from a freezer after the first week. Hope he has cleaned things up.
To be fair I felt it was a very lousy spot for that restaurant to begin with, not the Rio per se but that location in Masquerade Village is almost hidden. There was another very good French restaurant, Andres, in that spot before and it didn't last very long there either. I had the lasagna it was pretty good, but he put hard boiled egg pieces in it for some reason, it doesnt make it bad but doesnt really improve it either. I think they are at the Paris Hotel now?
@@funinlv32 southern Italian here… in Napoli they are used to use boiled eggs in the lasagna sometimes ( My mum does too, I don’t love it either)
@@funinlv32 he had some gimmick going with the meatballs back then too. I didn’t mind the food at opening but they went downhill quickly.
It's so awesome that Dave lives in the same city as me, we have the same name and I can try all the pizzas places that he recommends in South Florida

I'm born raised Chicago lived and worked in Vegas in fine dinning. This guy had a restaurant on the roof of the Rio Omg He was cooking And DJ at the same time. I'm half Sicilian all my family are immigrants lol but I don't eat at a lot of Italian restaurants but his food is to die for . His Sunday sauce dinner is a tough better than my Nonna Sunday sauce lmmfao the Sicilian pizza as you know Is Fuckin Fantastic. Gotta try da meatballs and Braciola you won't be disappointed.

I never get that style of pizza because it's too much bread. Might not be bad if it's super crunchy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside with a side of pizza sauce to dip in. I like a good deep dish but those are rare because I haven't had one that knocked my socks off. I prefer NY style not undercooked.
Place is ok. Been here many times over the years. Not sure what Dave is on to give it a score that high.

at a buffet, i personally sneak corndogs into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 corndogs in my jacket pockets. it then, is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corndogs thinking they were part of the buffet.

The owners grandpa was actually a long time made man/soldier for the Philadelphia mob, Raymond "Long John" Martorano. Got whacked in 2002 for trying to take over the acting bosses rackets after a 17 year stint in jail. Rip
