Tobio’s death was one many sad things i seen on tv and movies all leading bad parents and bad unexpected circumstances. I wished he had better father then he would have been alive.
The 2003 version will always be my favorite. I love how the dynamic before Tobio's death was and how it plays a part in the ending. The ending Astro saved Tenma who wanted to die in the same building he last saw his son alive but he forgave him as a way to bring him peace. The 2009 felt very bland and it felt rushed. The ending wasnt as wholesome as the 2003 version.
In my opinion the 2009 version is the darkest because when tenma said he promised Toby knew he was gonna die because his father doesn’t keep promises and tenma had to witness his death
The pattern I’m detecting is that Tobio’s hat is the only keepsake remaining, which is ironically plot armor for the hat itself (in an almost literal sense). Truth be told, as gutwrenching as Astro’s reason for existence might be, there’s something about being disintegrated by cosmic energy that seems like a better (as in not as agonizing) way to go than being smashed at a high rate of speed with the combined unforgiving nature of circuits and steel
I guess they wanted his death to be more "child friendly" in 2009... But then I think about the fact that burning alive is supposedly the most pain a human can feel...
Is Tobio not even in the live action series from 1959? I've been meaning to watch it, since Tezuka was famously unhappy with it, leading to the 1963 adaptation and the birth of anime as we know it.

Yes, because you're a purist lol.
Me when my mamma about to Whoop me 0:12
I guess being desinegrated is less violent than going through a car accident
Tobio's function: die and let his hat
So that's how Astro Boy was build, tragic. 😬
Bro got killed multiple times across multiverse
The original might be goofy at first but that sadness from Dr. Tenma is very real
Finally.
A good video to watch about Astro Boy at 4:00 am.
1:08 "Let's go jump" can be interpreted in many ways... xD
the 1963 one was absolutely dark.
3:15 - End:
THAT was a drastic shift.
2:16 Tobio I DON'T WANT A JETBIKE I WANT A FATHER!!!!!!!! 😢😡
That was the one I remember…am I remembering wrong?
It’s the English dub dialogue? Because I heard the English dub censored the scene
@@Alexmaquina2023 oh, that actually makes sense! I watched the English dub a lot as a kid, but I never remembered the scene of him getting run over either, just leaving on the bike

I love all japanese version, Tobio looks way cuter.
And they still made Tesla after all the warnings
Tobio's dad in the original series looks so much like a rooster
I may not be a father or anything, but you'd think after the second time his son died, in almost the same way as before, he'd do a better job watching over him.
Truck Kun's career all began with Tobio
Love learning about early anime dub. I never seen alot or heard some dubs from the 50's or 60's.
I hate the 2009 death the most, as a kid I was in shock the rest of the movie he had died and could not believe the villain was still alive at the end after you thought he died, it was so dumb. If the villain only got that just death I would have liked it more.
why is nobody talking about tobio’s scream in the 1980 version
This cartoon is actually somewhat dark.
Astroboy is really dark. But it's still considered a shonen genre despite it all.
@@takarifan what makes it shonen genre exactly I don't really understand that genre is it like noir?
@@greendude7650 A shonen anime genre means this anime is targeted towards a younger male audience around 10 - 16 years.
@@takarifan oh so like the original Speed Racer.
@@greendude7650 Yeah. The definition of the genre changed based on the year the anime was made and the taste of the times.
His death in 2009 is the most devastating one
Tobio’s death was one many sad things i seen on tv and movies all leading bad parents and bad unexpected circumstances. I wished he had better father then he would have been alive.
i liked 2003 the most.
He didn't die, he ended up in the fantasy world and acquired a harem.
80's version is the best one
Ayeeee same taste 🤝
I see...
Truck-kun great great great father
you dont know what you Have until it is lost, the curse is absolute regret
i used to watch the 1980 one
3:57 - 4:07 Homer Simpson: "🥺He's a box... 😫My boy is a box!
*✊️😠DAMN YOU! A BOOOOOOX!!* "
Tbh, the 2009 one traumatized me as a kid
Toby 😔😔😔🥺🥺🥺😢😢😢
Great video😊😊😊
2009 was a great version
The original is the saddest for me. Where is this from?
Tetsuwan Atom/Astro Boy
I hate it whenever an animated feature makes the jump to 3D CGI.
Weird how in 2009 Nicholas Cage played two fathers who end up losing their children in traumatic events.
Anybody else think that the car crashes are a more brutal way for him to die than getting freaking incinerated in the movie?
💛N:😥oh God 💜Uzi:😢🙏no no Toby
In my opinion the 2009 version is the darkest because when tenma said he promised Toby knew he was gonna die because his father doesn’t keep promises and tenma had to witness his death
The first one was by far the saddest.
1:44 truck kuns first victim
Top 10 Anime deaths.
1963 ending 00:01 1980 ending 00:57 2003 ending 2:01 2009 ending 3:14 oof worst ending 4:19
From being foolish kid to being innocent kid is so brutal...
Truck-kun, yamete! -3-
The pattern I’m detecting is that Tobio’s hat is the only keepsake remaining, which is ironically plot armor for the hat itself (in an almost literal sense). Truth be told, as gutwrenching as Astro’s reason for existence might be, there’s something about being disintegrated by cosmic energy that seems like a better (as in not as agonizing) way to go than being smashed at a high rate of speed with the combined unforgiving nature of circuits and steel
2009 is when they ruined it.
I guess they wanted his death to be more "child friendly" in 2009...
But then I think about the fact that burning alive is supposedly the most pain a human can feel...
Was there any breaks in that robot car to make it stop?
Is Tobio not even in the live action series from 1959? I've been meaning to watch it, since Tezuka was famously unhappy with it, leading to the 1963 adaptation and the birth of anime as we know it.
While pluto never shows it, tenma talking about it is still tragic
Why his name is tobio in anime version
And movie version Toby
Tobio was his original Japanese name, which was changed to just Toby in the English dub.
When I watch the 'Astro Boy Atom' TV series and movies, it feels like Walt Disney Studios.
So, if a new remake "Astro Boy Atom" movies and TV series are released in the long-term future, we hope "Astro Boy Atom" movies and TV series should/will be produced by Walt Disney Animation Studio.
The background of these TV series and movies is mainly Metro City.
These are our concept of character cast we desire.

Umm no
I wonder how tobio will die in the reboot
There's a reboot?
In most versions story was wrote by japanese, who actually kept canons, even thought there was a redcon each new adaptation. But 2009 was made by westerners, so it's fair that not only setting is way different(the main story happens on floating city that is float in skies of overpoluted Earth, while in previous adaptations it was actually bright future in which earth wasn't THAT poluted.)
Does this mean...Tobio got sent to a nonexistent isekai because it was 1963? And was subsequently replaced on Earth by Atom?
