This was the original version of the 2009 adaptation of Astro Boy. It went in a different direction and the end results was that movie bombed at the box office resulting in Imagi Studios cancelling all future movies such as a Gatchaman adaptation and Cat Tale which ultimately shut down in 2010.
This one actually did a good job Astro boys hair change inspired by Mickey Mouse and everything it actually felt like watching an Astro boy anime hopefully we get something like this in the future

We hope there will be new Astro Boy (1963, 1980 based) movies and (1963, 1980 based) TV series of Walt Disney Animation Studio in the far future, probably since the *2060s. The copyright protection duty can be changed before the 2050s or 2040s.

This was originally meant to be a dark father son story about the rejection of a son that was inferior to his “older brother” who died. And exploring the nature of what defines life and whether we can cast it away when it doesn’t meet our needs. Instead there was an opinion that this version deviated from the original anime and that the stakes weren’t high enough. So changing the villain from the father to be a power hungry General and going with a softer version of Astro boy was chosen instead.
@@Colin_a_Brady umm understond! i sorta agree with the stakes problem but besides that it would have been much better. you stil have tiny bits of that in the final movie but very very tiny bits also was dr elfun ment to have a bigger role or something?

This story sounds like it would've taken elements from the original Manga and the 2003 tv series or shaped it in some form with a bit of different spin.... In terms of the story, this probably would've fit mold as well as being a balanced out plot that while I'm not sure would've been ahead of its time, it would've given something relatable and interesting But something else, Colin,...was there any more concepts art, where there were robots, Astro potentially could've fought, other than Zog, and were there any other characters,or monsters (depending) that didn't make it into final film

Thanks, @sowhazupguy yes I’m very proud of the story that this trailer tells. The song was added the night before a Warner Brothers pitch by a new producing team that came on the week before. Even though we already created an original score for this piece but I reluctantly agreed to the new change of music. But as the old saying goes, never let a camel stick his nose under your tent or he’ll end up sleeping in your bed…

I worked on TMNT at Imagi as an animation director at the end of production. I then became Director of Astro boy (and this particular trailer) until I was replaced when the studio wanted to go a different direction.
