A ripper isn't unheard of, as the Parasite of Mortex which caused the world of Mortex to be overrunned by Ripper swarms. It's small enough to hide on the ship, spawn quickly enough to kill everyone onboard, and the brood of Rippers could hide in hard to reach and therefore scanned areas to avoid detection. Once off the ship, well, they could easily overrun an unprepared world.
Likely, considering the necrons didnt make their appearance until an iconic movie came out in the mid 80's Hint: It was about machines and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger attempting to TERMINATE sarah connor.
The Red Terror. One of the few Tyriands to get any kind of lore and personality. When a bug like THAT gets to think more clearly, you know you are danger. Reminds me of Old One and that Zoranthrope that ate a Craftworld...it's still out there.
They named that Zoanthrope, Doom, so that tells you what it can do. It was never said that it was killed and if it IS still out there then it has to be the strongest Zoanthrope out there. I doubt a couple of Grey Knights can that that thing on.
The Doom of Malan'tai. So named because of what it did to the craftworld Malan'tai. The Naga hive fleet was wounded, the Aeldari focused on the big bugs, and didn't worry about a skinny Zoanthrope. Said Zoanthrope ate a few soul gems, then started feeding off the infinity circuit, all of the sudden, everyone else is rolling 1s and a -1 to hit.
There is almost one Special Tyriand of each kind. Old One Eye/Carnifex, The Red Terror/Raveners, The Doom of Malan'tai/Zoanthrope, and Death Leaper/Lictor. Now we just need the others.
I personally believe a Lictor is the main culprit for the deaths. Could possibly be a very intelligent one at that, but I can’t say. As a renegade that love your theory videos, 40k Theories, keep it up.
A Deathleaper I think, simply because what better way to instill terror and distract defenders than to have a dead ship land, no monster on board then when the defense forces are paranoid wasting time and resources looking in shadows for this monster. Well they forget to keep an eye on the sensors telling them a bunch of Tyranid Bio ships are floating towards them, and then bam, dead world.
It may have been this terrifying thing. In the first half of M48 a war of reclamation had been declared on the desert planet of Oceanum. During the ides of the fifth month of the campaign, two tactical squads of Mega Marines were ordered to the front line. Unfortunately, due to a significant decrease in the budget for that fiscal year, they were forced to go by foot. Soon after setting out, they came across a regiment of Imperial Guardsmen under attack from a large contigent of Ork Kommandos. The Mega Marines, devoted to the common man as always, believed it their moral duty to support these men in battle. After the ensuing battle, reports were written up. After the ensuing writer's cramp had finally dissipated, the reports were promptly filed in the Administratum approved manner and never thought of again. Meanwhile, a nearby mining facility embedded in an asteroid orbiting Oceanum's two suns, had ceased all contact without Administratum approval. It was noticed within a few weeks, but was written off as an Ork raid of some sort and promptly placed at the bottom of an ever growing Administratum approved to-do list forty-two feet long. Placed firmly below jet-ski vacations, the unapproved lost contact incident was soon forgotten. Forty years passed before an investigative task force was sent to the mining facility. When they got there, they found the entire facility devoid of life. There weren't even bodies. Except one skeleton, bearing the tattered and faded robes of a member of the Administratum. Grasped in its left hand was a dataslate. Having long lost its charge, a member of the task force took it back to the ship they had arrived on, and began the long process of charging it. Hours of investigation later, they had found only one thing of note. There were no signs of damage or struggle. The inhabitants had simply vanished into thin air. When the team arrived back at the ship, they reviewed the dataslate. What they found was so shocking and utterly horrifying, only the ship's pilot out of the thirty person crew avoided a gradual decent into complete and utter insanity. What they found was that the Administratum Scholar had actually been an intern working over the summer when the war had begun. The reason for the mass disappearances was that he had made a typo on an inventory report, which on top of overly excessive wait times, and constantly signing in octupilcate, had caused everyone to just decide they would rather found their own asteroid mine without the bureaucracy. Unfortunately, they forgot that asteroids are generally located in the middle of space and they all promptly suffocated to death in the cold and merciless vacuum. *BUREAUCRACY* Terrifying, am I right?
It could just be an unknown bioform not yet codified by Imperial forces. The Tyranids are depicted as endlessly adaptable after all, with countless tricks up their carapaces the Imperium, and the other factions of the galaxy, have not seen yet. Whatever slaughtered the crew and passengers of the evacuation ship and caused Adri's Hope to go dark could easily be something not in any current codex or specifically identified in the existing lore. The first rule with the Tyranids is that there are always more and different alien killing machines, that bring with them new and interesting ways to horribly gribble (definitely a technical term) you to death.
The only thing worse than a normal Lictor would be the Death Leaper, just take everything about a Lictor and ramp it up to 11, that kind of fear is just plain terrifying.
Great video Ramleiz, I could bet some cash that it was some type of Lictor/Deathleaper whome killed the crew and then summoned the rest of the Tyranid fleet to Adri's Hope. If it was something else, well I'm not sure what it was, but it gotta be pretty ugly ,like the rest of Tyranids :P Have a great day!
Lamenters: We are here to help. (Planet's defenders come under attack by a never before seen strain of Tyranid.) Why does crap like this keep happening to us?
So basically WH40K's Universe's Aliens. Hadley's Hope, a xenomorph creature marooned on a outpost world after hitching a ride on a fleeing ship and killing the whole crew and a group of space Marines are eventually dispatched to capture/kill said creature. Ridley Scott would claim a copyright suit if it wasnt for a late night visit from a stern man with a sword, bolter pistol, trench coat and pointy hat with a Capitol I signia on it.
Before considering what creature was brought to Adri's Hope, we should consider how big the transport was. The "AVERAGE" size for an Imperial transport is so large that it could almost carry the U.S.S. Enterprise,(Star Trek-T.O.S.) in its shuttle bay. The red terror could have stowed away on the vessel, and hidden itself in a place where no one would find it. What probability happened was that a significant number of organisms were onboard the vessel. There is also the possibility that those organisms were not tyranid, but wanted everyone to think they were.
The average size of a naval transport vessel that is able to make planetfall can range from an Arvus Lighter (that can carry at most a couple of squads) to a Tetrarch heavy lander (which can carry a company of soldiers) or the Devourer dropship (which can carry a company plus a number of tanks.) While the Cetaceus class transport *is* considerably larger, that class of ship doesn't actually make planetfall as it typically does void deployment.
Could the Tetrarch travel through the warp? How long would it take to load a vessel that could? To efficiently load a transport, it would have to be on a planetside port facility; otherwise it would take months to complete using Tetrarchs. The vessel would then crash land on Adri's Hope. @@40KTheories
Has *anything* in the Imperium ever been efficient? And given how the conflict lasted at least 20 days, then yes if things were organised that gave the world's population approximately 3 weeks to evacuate as many of the world's population as possible. Why would such a vessel would crash seeing as the one that travelled to Adri's Hope made an automated planetary landing? A heavy transport would not be able to do that, since most Imperial space craft above a certain size are incapable of atmospheric flight (hence the prolific use of dropships and landers). Warp travel doesn't even necessarily need to be a factor in these vessels escaping, given that the Tyranid's shadow in the warp makes warp travel ridiculously dangerous to attempt.
Three weeks to evacuate a planet, even with a year’s worth of planning, that would be impossible. During the Armageddon conflict, an Astartes vessel named “The Purest Intent,” (repurposed by the orks,) crash landed intact on Armageddon. That is all an Tyranid assault force would need. ruclips.net/video/jahCLBmqHnI/видео.html Any destination that did not require warp travel would have been under Tyranid attack already.
could a singular lictor make a beacon signal ?. i thought it required a large amount of genestealers with a patriarch leader - as in a major amount of psychic power. would a single lictor be able to do that?
I think the beast was a Space Marine. A single Lamenter either dragged aboard the transport wounded or ordered to evacuate for some reason. Driven insane by the constant losses his chapter suffers and not being allowed to die with his brothers, he first takes out his rage on the humans on the transport and then the colony. That's if he killed them - maybe he turned to chaos rather than just going insane and cut off communications to set up his own little kingdom in peace.
Couple of random ideas off the top of my head. What if the Emperor had waited till the great crusade was complete before returning to Terra? What if Horus chose to die from his wound instead of turning to Chaos? What if the Alpha Legion refused the Cabal's request? What happened to the rest of the Sigilites? How did mankind survive when the Eldar were at the height of their power and their hedonism? What if Russ didn't attempt to kill Magnus and instead brought him to Terra?
What about a Tyranid bioform similar in function to the Parasite of Mortrex? Mortrex itself was a fortess world, and was overrun within two week, in large part because of this particular bioform. Not to mention that the Parasite was originally of Kracken stock as well.
If they ever address this i am certain they will give it some crazy or just awesome explanation, but it is just as likely the people boarded it to evacuate and something boarded on planet when they were setting navigation and slaughtered them all and left and then the ship launched on timed autopilot and carried the crew like an interplanetary tomb and landed as well on autopilot and no xenos were still aboard. Later the next planet in line for the tyrranid fleet was the same one that ship journeyed to.
I think it's the Red Terror, though I also have a theory it might be a Zoanthrope. More on that below. Simply put, it's model is only a bit bigger than a ravener but all art suggests to me a greatly distendable mouth, if not body suggesting that it can eat like a snake does, swallowing things whole. This makes me think that being the size of a mawloc isn't a requirement for it's swallowing whole ability. I doubt either a Lictor or a Genestealer would have killed the occupants. Lictors are intelligent enough to realise that their job on the world and the subsequent hive fleet invasion would be a hell of a lot harder if it was on the war footing, so it would likely stay silent and just sneak out when the refugees left. Doesn't make sense to kill a load of refugees so their biomass rots and alert the planet that something bad is going down. A lone genestealer would have likely tried to infect the people, forming a cult, rather than murdering them all. Hormagaunt also seems unlikely because, yes, while they can lay eggs, these eggs would need to be able to draw resources from the world around them, since a Hormagaunt probably doesn't have the energy, nutrients etc. to put into an egg to grow another one of itself, let alone hundreds and besides, the security team would have noticed a horde of them. The possibility of one hormagaunt doing this is possible but Hormagaunts are basically attack dogs with big claws and a regular human with some kind of weapon like an improvised club or even an unarmed strong human can win a 1v1 with them, let alone 1 hormagaunt vs a lot of refugees. Now, onto my theory of Zoanthrope. Zoanthropes are generally silent, with no war cries. They float, so no sound of hooves hitting metal. They are slender and tall, meaning they might easily find their way into a vent or something. We can even theorise that if it was discovered, it might exert some mental control over it's discoverer. If a Zoanthrope were separated somehow and found it's way onto the ship, it would be well adapted to hiding. In addition, as it's basically all brain, it would be intelligent enough not to go on a rampage and this was shown on the Doom of Malan'tai. However, we know the Tyranids do not use warp travel, instead utilising narwhal created gravity tunnels. So when the ship entered the warp, we can't be sure how a Zoanthrope might react or even if it could control it's power, which could have lead to the slaughtering of everyone on board, in an outburst of uncontrolled or confused psychic rage.
Either a lictor or a form of Ravenor, the Red Terror was very large but stealth adapted so I could definitely see another stealth adapted Ravenor causing this type of problem, especially if it was an experiment in being Synaptic or able to lay a brood.
So what happened to The Red Terror? It seems to have disappeared after Devlan Primus. Something of that size wouldn't just stop, unless it was reconstituted into biomass, but if it was so effective why not create more?
maybe there already was a genestealer cult there on the planet but not in a finished state. and a special nid on the ship could force perhaps force a not entirely big enough genestealer cult to emit its beacon ahead of time. and force the genestealers to go into revolt mode.
Alternative idea. There was no creature on the transport vessel. Rather the crew and passengers were killed by a person(s) who had lost their minds due to what they had seen before boarding the transport. A member(s) of the security team that investigated the ship and found its contents were so struck by the sight as to lose their minds or otherwise push them to the worship of the chaos gods. Perhaps because seeing so many slaughtered by their own they lost faith in the Emperor. This gave rise to a cult of chaos (insert preferred god) which spread quickly engulfing the planet where those not loyal to the gods were slaughtered and those loyal simply refused to communicate with imperial authorities. Not at all likely but a fun mental exercise none the less
A genestealer/Lictor is probably the most likely organism scince its pretty much their job to infiltrate. Most of the other organisms wouldnt stealth their way through. A ravenor is either too big or out of place scince he excells in burrowing and this is no where near stealth scince he would leave huge holes in the ship. A sigle gant would not be able to take out a huge amount of ppl singlehandedly and would need to breed inside the ship. And a brood of gants would never stealth without synapse they would straight up murder everything.
what about the Parasite of Mortrex? if we are going to include the possibility of the red terror why not other uniques its an assassin creature so pretty stealthy even if it doesnt use stealth on the TT and more then capable of taking out a planet on its own ... with a billion rippers
Hive mind: "I just can't think of a new bio-form to effectively turn these fleshy bags into more biomass..." **Sees Lamenters** "INSPIRATION!" Because you know, massive cosmic middle finger curse and everything... =p
Was there a tendril of HF Kracken that close to the world so as to make that a likely scenario? I imagine the Astartes keep a close eye on Hive fleet positions so I doubt they can truly be taken by surprise by a world going dark in that manner. If not...then my vote is for a experimental unique Tyranid. After all the Hive fleets are always experimenting so as to improve performance. So it may have been a new infiltration type that was being tested to see if it could it would be better than the established breeds.
In theory, if the Alpha Legion are truely like a hydra, then the death of either alpharius or omegon will span inadvertantly two others, making them 3 not 2
is it time for a shorter and less noisy intro? something lower in volume would be great. Makes it hard to binge while constantly turning it down on the intro then turning it up during the actual video.

Again they are mentioned in the Cult Codecies. There's a bit of information on how a particular cult ended up falling to Nurgle after accidentally ending up in his garden.
Wouldn't a tyranid have eaten the refugees of the ship? Loosing contact with Adri's Hope - wouldn't the Imperium have sent ships to investigate? Tyranids would have eaten all bio mass on the planet, which would have been rather easily noticed by Imperium investigators.

Well there's 3 the Welby electr a genestealers or a Horrigan. They're small enough to fit in we'll never know what it is
Either a lictor or a form of Ravenor, the Red Terror was very large but stealth adapted so I could definitely see another stealth adapted Ravenor causing this type of problem, especially if it was an experiment in being Synaptic or able to lay a brood.
The Red Terror Theory - Big ships need big landing gear.
"FOR THOSE WE CHERISH, WE DIE IN GLORY!!!!!!"
It was the very hungry caterpillar.
Hey 40K Theories, after you do the Ashen Claws Video, could you do one on the Ymgari Genestealers.
Never I never expected a genestealer or other type of tyranid you will never know what it is the Beast was
Alternative idea.
I don't know what type of creature did that but I'm sure they mostly come out at night... mostly
what about the Parasite of Mortrex? if we are going to include the possibility of the red terror why not other uniques
its an assassin creature so pretty stealthy even if it doesnt use stealth on the TT and more then capable of taking out a planet on its own ... with a billion rippers
maybe it was the Red Terror, but it started off small, and then grew
The son of the Red Terror
The red terror! Why? Can a tyranid organism grow in size by consuming prey over a longer period of time..
Hive mind: "I just can't think of a new bio-form to effectively turn these fleshy bags into more biomass..." **Sees Lamenters** "INSPIRATION!"
Because you know, massive cosmic middle finger curse and everything... =p
"Which included a company of Astrties from the Lamentors chapter."
Me: *OH DEAR EMPEROR DAMN IT!!*
Huh, sounds like the plot of Aliens
Grabs shotgun, "I keep this for close encounters"
I'd always assumed it was actually a daemon that got summoned aboard by some cultist.
I think it was worse than genestealers...I think it was...SOLICITORS!
Well this recontextualizes events from the all guardsmen party
Who said it has to be a nid? Something else could have made it on the ship while everyone was focused on the bugs
It was a lictor, that found out how to use guns.
Vulcan : I'm going to boop this creature
This channel is so dank
In theory, if the Alpha Legion are truely like a hydra, then the death of either alpharius or omegon will span inadvertantly two others, making them 3 not 2
I think it could have been a lictor, seems likely that a creature such as that would be able to do this.
Old One Eye possibly? he's been all over the place
Ravenous bio form of unusual size.......a R.B.U.S......huh
Also, a survival game of this would be amazing
The beast of Adris hope was actually a Demon of tzeentch. I've got no evidence but a strange blue hooded man thing told me so.
*Laughs in Tyranid*
A spore mine
It's possible that the beast wasn't Tyranid but daemonic and in the midst of the hive fleet's attack a world fell to the forces of chaos.
a xenomorph brood lictor
Just another of Alpharius's shenanigens I reckon
If the biosphere is still intact then you can rule out the Hive fleet!!!+so I would go with the lictor!!!+
is it time for a shorter and less noisy intro? something lower in volume would be great. Makes it hard to binge while constantly turning it down on the intro then turning it up during the actual video.
My guess is an unlucky crotalid.
Like how he says milky way as if it's our universe lol
A Lictor seems to be the most likely fit for this. #TheHiveMindApproves
I think it was the nighthaunter, change my mind
It looks like it was was a ; checks notes ...
Xenomorph 🤔
Renegade Commander Shepard, Necromorphs, Hal 9000, Corrupted Cyberdongs, the God-Emperor is being a dick, Matt Wards bad writing, me after seeing how much the Adeptus Titanicus boxset costs in Canadian dollars.
my money is on the lictor
Lets be real it’s a level one hundred Pokémon.
I remember that story
Plot twist it was dark eldar
GENESTEALERS!!!!
Can a Genestealers cult fall to chaos if the patriach is corrupted?
Yes. Chaos Genestealer Cults are mentioned in the 7th and 8th edition Genestealer Cult Codecies.
@@40KTheories 1st damn the Lord himself answered my question yay xD
2nd is there some established lore about them? :D
Again they are mentioned in the Cult Codecies. There's a bit of information on how a particular cult ended up falling to Nurgle after accidentally ending up in his garden.
Lictor
Wouldn't a tyranid have eaten the refugees of the ship? Loosing contact with Adri's Hope - wouldn't the Imperium have sent ships to investigate? Tyranids would have eaten all bio mass on the planet, which would have been rather easily noticed by Imperium investigators.
Necrons did it
Me, i'm The Mysterious Beast of Adri's Hope.
Hello.
I think the creature was a Butfor.
Genestealer Broodlord?
